    Ordered the Lamb Hotpot without glass noodles or pork blood with rice on the side and egg on top.. The soup was tasty but the meat dipped in the hot sauces and vinegar on the table was really tasty.. Service was decent as well... Will try more hotpot places to compare... not bad at all.. and a very convenient location as well...

    I've been to Boiling Point a few times now and it always hits the hot pot spot. I like the fact that it's "individual" servings (although I do believe that, if you're not super hungry, two people could share one-just order an extra rice). I like getting the Beef hot pot (#4), which includes Napa cabbage, Sliced beef, Enoki mushrooms, Firm tofu, and more. I also always add tons of the garlic sauce they have on the side to give it a bit more flavour (although be careful because if you add too much it'll get garlic spicy which is different than chili spicy in my opinion). I definitely see myself coming here again, especially since there's not that many other individual hot pot spots that have pre-selected ingredients (Nabeguyo comes to mind but the flavours/ingredients are a bit more simple).

    It was a snowy February evening and we came to Boiling Point for the first time. We drive by it all the time and decided to give it a go tonight. It was about 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was about 1/2 full. We were immediately seated and served room temperature water in paper cups. We ordered beef, Lamb (no picture) and milky curry dinner set. The food did take some time. Each of our pot had different items. My mom really enjoyed her lamb pot. I had the curry pot (low spicy level) and it was quite tasty and flavourful. It was borderline spicy for me by the time I finished. I do like the concept of individual hot pots and ability to choose your soup base; all for yourself All in all, a great meal to warm us up on a cold night with the snow.

    I love hotpot, and I've been to this location a few times but the food is just not that great. The beef pot had a sweet broth that didn't taste very good. Why would they make the broth sweet? The portion is kind of small for what you pay, the service is so-so, and they don't allow you split bills which I don't think is reasonable. I've tried the Taiwanese, and it was mediocre as well. Out of all the hotpot places I've tried in Vancouver and Taiwan, I would rate this one as near the bottom. I've been to a Boiling Point near Seattle, and it was awesome so maybe different locations taste very different.

    I've had boiling point in the states and when we came here for dinner, I was expecting the same quality. We had a large party so we were seated against the wall. Some people shared the pots and some had their own individual pots. I got the thai soup option which was good but I think it lacked some flavor. I got it medium spice and it was definitely spicy enough. I noticed that there was no soft shell crab and some other meat selections like they do in the states. Overall, the food was alright. I feel like I have tasted better. The service was alright as well....there wasn't a lot of people there so they tended to us and our needs. But they did keep messing up on our orders. And when we got our bills, it was mixed up with things we didn't order. And they were only able to split the check up to 3.

    New location, same awesome food. Beautiful. Parking is available on the side streets. The inside has the same wood panelling as the other locations. Nice and classy, though the booth seats aren't padded. Easier to clean I guess. Staff are nice and efficient. The hot pots here deliver as expected. Nice fresh ingredients, and contains all food groups. My only complaint is that the stinky tofu can be stinkier. For those who haven't been before, I always recommend the #1 House Special or #5 Lamb hot pots. With that said, pretty much everything here is delicious. As an added bonus, they gave out cups of basil seeds for dessert. Definitely will be back. Recommended.

    Food was ok. Same as any other Boiling Point location. Only issue is service here. You don't get asked for water or tea unless you remind them. Also they won't sit you down until you make note that you are here. Also in order for them to take your order, yeah you have to let them know. Seems like staff here are very demotivated. Not sure why. Only reason I can guess is that they are treated really bad by their boss. We were one of the 3 tables with two staffs they were always hiding. Food came and it was plotted down and we were ignored. Anything we needed we had to try to hunt the staff down behind a wall. I am not sure if they are really short staff or they are treated and paid really bad. But handling 3 tables with 2 servers, I can't see why it would be that difficult to manage. Also parking in this location is awful. Very difficult to find a parking spot. I don't think I will return to this location.

    Milk cream curry hotpot

    I'm a fan of Boiling Point and their individual hotpots, but have only frequented the chain sporadically until this location popped up. I've now been here once for lunch and once for dinner, and I thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Maybe it's because this location is still fairly new, but I feel like it's a lot cleaner than the Burnaby and Richmond spots. I've tried an assortment of their soup bases, including the Lamb, House Special, Beef, and Milk Cream Curry. I would say that the Lamb and Beef here are fairly safe choices - you get a wide assortment of vegetables with a decent amount of sliced meat. If you're new to hotpot or tend to be a pickier eater, these are definitely more palatable. The standouts for me at Boiling Point though are the House Special and Milk Cream Curry. I love Taiwanese stinky tofu (along with many other fermented, pungent foods) so this hotpot is right up my alley. There's lots of fermented tofu, pig blood cubes, and sliced meat to satisfy my craving, especially when paired with the DIY sauces they have available at every table. I personally love mixing the soybean chilli paste with the garlic sauce for that extra flavour punch, like fermented tofu isn't smelly enough haha. The Milk Cream Curry hotpot on the other hand already has a strong enough flavour profile. It's made with a flavourful curry base, then topped off with a creamy layer of milk foam that balances it out. I really enjoyed the napa cabbage and vermicelli that soaked up all the broth in this dish, absolutely delicious! Price wise I'd say Boiling Point is decent value at around $14-$17 per person. Definitely try to make it for lunch for a slightly lower price and a complimentary iced tea (your choice of black or green, $1 supplement to upsize). Service here is noticeably better than the other two locations and I'll definitely be back. Note: they take cards but don't split bills or take reservations.

    I've been to the Richmond location but was in this area and this location is relatively new, so I thought I'd try. And I wasn't disappointed! The restaurant interior is very clean and new. It's quite a big space with a good amount of tables. I can see it being packed for dinner; good thing I went for lunch. Service was better than the Richmond location, possibly because we went when it was not as busy. Either way, great attentive service. Now on to the food! We were both very hungry, but the waitress offered another option: to order the larger sized items (last 3 on the menu are large) and share. She told us it isn't that much larger than the regular size, but enough for sharing. We decided to try the Japanese Miso and then go for a snack after if we weren't full. The Japanese Miso was very good. It came with pork slices, a raw egg, lots of cabbage/napa, fried bean curd sheets, a fish cake, udon, soft tofu, and half a small crab. I didn't really taste the miso, but the broth was very flavourful and tasty. There were plenty of veggies in the pot. For the side, we got vermicelli. I also love the sauces you can mix to create a super savoury dip. It's really not necessary, as the broth is already so flavourful, but it adds a little spice and deliciousness! Also a bonus - lunch hot pots come with an iced green tea or black tea, complimentary! Even though the 2 of us shared a large, I found that it was still a good sized portion for me. I would have been full enough for a meal but we did head over to Splitz after, haha. Out of all the soups I've tried, I would probably not get Japanese Miso again. But that's only because I normally wouldn't order a large and because the curry cream hot pot is so good!! However, I'd definitely go back to Boiling Point over and over! The stamp card is a great idea too!

    I quite enjoyed this place, I would recommend it to a friend who was looking for something new to try and likes variety in their food. I know as an indecisive eater that I definitely had a hard time picking what to get! My boyfriend and I ended up both getting the beef hotpot - however be warned that the spice levels are probably twice the levels of a typical restaurant; the mild is still quite hot! I wouldn't say that the flavours here blew my mind away - it's more of a fun place to try out and something new for a change. All the hotpots come with a drink during lunchtime (not sure if it also applies during dinner hours), which was a nice touch to contrast to the spicy, soupy dish.

    Perfect meal for a rainy day - however be prepared for a wait! This place gets quite busy around dinner time. Service was slow - I went with 4 other friends and was next in line. We knew which table would be ours, as it was the only large group table freeing up at the time. Once it was cleaned and empty, my friends and I were so tempted to just rush to the table out of hunger - but we waited out of courtesy and to respect the hostess and ticket system. However despite the table being ready for us to sit at, the hostess still took an additional 15 minutes before sitting us. 15 minutes!! Luckily the food and hot soup made up for the wait at the time.

    If you like hot pot without commitment to having 3748273738 different types of meats and veggies to finish, this is the place for you! I read some reviews before coming here, and learned about the gigantic portion sizes, so we ordered a large Taiwanese Spicy pot between 2 people (added egg as well). We also ordered an appetizer and it was the perfect portion. I love the variety of ingredients in there and how you can have a little bit of everything, bonus on the rice or vermicelli and the complimentary iced tea! My only complaint is that there are some traditional ingredients in the Taiwanese Spicy that might be foreign to some with more conservative tastes like... intestines. This is definitely an acquired taste and we ended up picking the rest of them out before finishing the meal. I get that they try to be as authentic as possible but if there were an option to take that out it would probably make the concept more approachable. Overall, a great meal on a cold day! They do fill up quickly and it's first come first serve. So I would recommend coming during early lunch hour (before 12pm) or after the lunch rush (after 2pm), same thing for dinner time. GREAT value for the meal and it was a nice way to commit to hot pot without the full commitment of ordering a plate of everything!

Originally I wanted to choose the Beefless Ginger Bowl, but thankfully the waiter warned me it may be a little on the spicy side. I'm glad he spoke up and I went with the Big Yum bowl instead. Definitely didn't disappoint! Had a fair helping of corn, edmame, sweet potatoes, shredded carrots, shredded cabbage and rice. I really appreciated the sauce was not overpowering and not unassuming. The perfect compliment in the perfect amount to just give your taste buds a little tickle. My kid tried some and he really liked it too, so it's always a bonus! She went above and beyond by taking the time to check on us frequently, having long chats, and giving us the 101 around town. From giving us book recs to local restaurants and attractions around the city, Dani was a pool of knowledge and such a pleasure to talk to. She also knows Main Street like the back of her hand! Dani recommended the following dishes: Okonomiyaki - it was a bit salty for me, but still delicious. The pickled ginger really topped this dish off! It was a great appetizer before our actual meal came. Gruvi peruvi - there was an emphasis on olives, which is unusual for me but unique for this salad! I don't think I've ever had olives in a salad before, so it was interesting how it was the highlight of the dish. Elderflower spritz - light and not too sweet. The lemon really balances out the floral tones. I'm glad there wasn't too much carbonation in the drink. Mid-way through our meal, Dani came out to check up on us, but also surprised us saying her manager offered us dessert, on-the-house. Such a wonderful surprise! The restaurant did live up to the hype, and the staff were nothing but spectacular! Definitely will come back next time I'm in Vancouver.

Asked for the Stack of Pancakes but apparently the chef had other ideas and we got served the French Toast instead. That day I didn't feel like sending it back...so I didn't. The toast was a bit flat but strangely enough it also hit the spot. I loved how the cinnamon was cooked right into it. I think Cinnamon should be right up there next to Gold...moving on.... The Chocolate Chip Cookie. When I found out it was homemade I got one. How can you not try a homemade cookie? Don't. Not that good. This little Diner, I would say is an acquired taste. We ate before coming here (he could do multiple meals) so I only had a milkshake. At $10+ for regular shake, it is quite pricey. I had the strawberry milkshake and saw it was made with flavored syrup. The soft serve machine had to rest between use, so if you order more than 1 milkshake , it will take some time for all to be ready. I'm just quite disappointed the milkshake is made with syrup. The plus side is you could actually mix the different flavors though they don't recommend more than 2. My friend said the food was good, typical diner fare. Inflation has also mean the challenge now cost around $70 if you can't finish it within 20 mins. Come here if you want to go back in time with diner food (not the prices).

The cabbage and potato were very bland and made me question why the Acorn is so hyped. It was so bland i didn't finish it. Keep in mind SERVING SIZES ARE TINY. The ravioli were practically inedible the chicken of the woods was beyond overly salted and the pasta wasn't cooked. We joked that al dente was at least touching water. This pasta has never heard of water. Easily one of if not THE WORST PASTA I've ever had at a restaurant in the past few years. Thank goodness the plum dessert was yummy. Very good. But truly I don't understand why people rave about The Acorn. I love food. Im a vegetarian but it's hard to comprehend why it's so hyped. Maybe there was a new cook? Maybe it was an off night? Crossed off my Vancouver bucket list. It took me a while to write this review because I frankly was in shock the contrast between the actual food vs the lore it has around town. The highlights were a basic sourdough and a well balanced dessert. That just feels so wrong.
