This is a small little hole in the wall restaurant serving up some traditional Taiwanese dishes. We…read morecame on a weekday afternoon right before the busy lunch hour - it was packed 30 min after we arrived! The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

The menu is different now - its bigger, and they have some meal set/combo options. Also more drink options. I tried: Nitro pear tea - excellent. get this. The nitro adds a smooth finish and the fresh pear puree is excellent with the tea. 5/5 signature sliced noodle with beef - not bad. Nice "wok hei" on it but its a bit wet/greasy. The beef in it was good but not many pieces. 3.5/5. Taiwanese stir fry rice noodle - pretty good. Well seasoned, not too greasy tasting. 4/5. Fried chicken nuggets - a classic. solid. 4.5/5. odd to put this here but they have a house made hot sauce with chili and garlic which was bomb. They charged $1 for it. 5/5. If you like spicy stuff, get this and put it on everything. Theyve done really good things since theyve opened. Menu is broader, a lot more options and classics for Taiwanese food. Restaurant still looks and feels new. Its clean and comfortable. Quality is pretty good. Value is not bad, portion size is fair and prices are slightly higher but in today's economy, being right on W. Broadway, and a more upscale (but casual) place, its reasonable. Overall solid 4/5.

Good eggplant and love the pork sauce. Very hearty dish. - also liked the oyster mushroom tofu dish. - the pork stew rice was OK. No egg to though. Decent Taiwanese place with a huge menu. Boba and desserts too.

Ordered the Chiayi chicken rice - comes with the chicken, half a marinated egg, few pieces of marinated tofu, some pickle slices, some cucumber slices. And the white rice of course. Guy at the counter was nice. I place my order and then he goes to make it. I hear lots of microwaving - already a bad sign. The rice must not sell well - it was full of old dry rice. The chicken was ok but very small portion. the accompaniments were pretty standard. The dish also took forever to prepare somehow, especially when there is literally NOBODY else waiting. This place was literally empty. Overall the dish was just not great. Seems like the product of a struggling business trying to stay afloat. The entire mini mall was essentially dead - not sure how anything here survives tbh. The place is really run-down and dingy as well, for those who have not been to this market before. i wont be back.

Each time, service was super slow, some staff are not well trained on how to greet customers or talk to customers, and I got green onions every time I asked for no green onions (I never gave it back though). I know it's not a big deal if you forget once or twice, but it's been like this every single time. I can easily pick it out, but if you have the option for customers not to put it in, then I do feel it's a slight problem if you constantly forget. The portions have been getting smaller and small every time. Overall, not as impressed as I used to be. I dont think it's the employees problems though, the boss is just under hiring for rush hour time! (Even during non rush hour their service is kind of slow..). They have people running around but half the tables are empty and not clean. They don't have enough employees hence everyone has to wait for a long time. Hoping to see some improvements in the near future.
