Came here for dessert after dinner with a group of 7 and ordered a tiramisu shaved ice, strawberry shaved ice, mango shaved ice, a tiramisu croffle, a strawberry matcha latte and a chocolate strawberry latte. The shaved ices were all delicious and my favourites were the strawberry and mango ones. The tiramisu came in only the large size so it was huge and had a big slice of tiramisu topping it. The drinks left much to be desired.. The strawberry matcha latte was probably one of the worst I've had, with the matcha not being dissolved properly, making it super powdery and bitter. The matcha they used was definitely a low grade culinary matcha. I could only manage a couple sips before tossing it. The chocolate strawberry latte was bought as a replacement for the strawberry matcha, and it was better but super sweet. We had to let the ice melt before drinking it. Great place to get bingsoo! It's a bit on the pricey side for shaved ice, but it's worth treating yourself once in a while. The mango was recommended, so we had this one. I really thought it was one of the best korean shaved ice I have ever had and would love to go for this again, trying other flavors. The service is quick and efficient. The staff was helpful with giving an idea of the portion sizes. I only wish that tiramisu came in a smaller size. The decor is cute and cozy. I'd come back to try more flavors. read more

A most disappointing experience by any standards but especially given the previously positive experience. We ordered the mango bongo, large. It was served with small bits of what appears to be frozen mango. Previously and as shown in many Yelp photos here, it was large fresh cut chunks. This is also how it appears on their menu. We were deeply disappointed, partly because they charged $17.50 for a large. We complained. While there was no apology offered, they did offer extra mango topping. Basically a mound of their milk shaved ice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and layers of yuzu syrup. Some bits of preserved yuzu in there. Not bad, solid 3.5/5. Also got the strawberry souffle pancake. Comes with 2 per order, drenched in strawberry preserve. Actually this was pretty good, solid 4/5. You can get better elsewhere though. Its a counter-service place. order at the counter and grab a seat until they call you. Lady at the counter was friendly. Restaurant was clean, brightly-lit. simple but functional. Best part about this place was pretty ample seating, open pretty late, central location, and theres a free little parking lot out front. Passion8 has been my go-to spot for quite some time now and I have always tried a new flavour and never been disappointed! However, my favorite would have to be Mango Bango or Taro! I don't think they have the toasts on their menu anymore (although the person who took our order mentioned they were out of stock of a few things, so maybe that was one of the things that was greyed out on the menu) - it was just shaved ice, cake slices, and drinks. I was sorely tempted by the beautiful carrot cake in the display, but I had my heart set on shaved ice, so I got the injeolmi snow and an americano to offset the cold dessert in the cold weather. The shaved ice was very creamy, and I enjoyed the nutty flavour of the liberal dusting of soybean powder and red beans with the chewy mochi. There was one big mochi ball on top but I was surprised by how many smaller mochi pieces were mixed in. They definitely did not skimp on toppings for either my shaved ice or for my friend who got the mango snow. My americano actually exceeded my expectations, it was pretty strong and had a rich flavour. Order at the counter and they'll call out your order when it's ready for you to pick up. We ordered two large Mango Bongo's to share, at $16.90 each. It comes with fresh mango as well as small homemade cheesecake pieces and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The Mango Bongo was really good... the mango was super fresh and sweet and went well with the shaved ice. Imagine a Bingsoo as big as a tire! Not quite. A bingsoo is a Korean dessert made of shaved flavoured ice (typically milk) topped with all kinds of goodness - fresh fruit, chocolate syrup, matcha sauce etc. Passion8 does a good job with its authentic flavour and presentation. The mango topping is generous and most refreshing especially after eating a spicy bowl of ramen or anything spicy at all. It is a self serve concept so service is rather minimal. They use to provide a water station but that was removed. Instead they sell bottled water. Still I revisit frequently so this place must be approaching 4 stars to me. read more

Stumbled upon this place when walking around in Vancouver with a friend. We ordered the small strawberry blossom bingsoo and it was delicious! Their shaved ice was so light and pillowy with a balanced sweetness. I wish there were more than just 4 small cheesecake bites, but there were a ton of sliced strawberries all throughout the tower. Bingsoo isn't usually my dessert of choice since I'm not a huge fan of milk, but wanted to try this place upon recommendation! It was also one of the few dessert places open later at night, which was good. We came around 30 minutes before closing so we had to get takeout, which unfortunately only comes in a large size even if you wanted small. So, we got the large matchacha shaved ice which had matcha powder, red beans, mochi, and some sort of cheese like tasting balls. I will say this was definitely better than the bingsoo I've had in the US. They gave plenty of matcha powder and other toppings, and it was a pretty satisfying treat. Bingsu (shaved ice dessert) is the perfect break from a hot day. Their berry and cheesecake bingsu was alright. I liked the mix of the fresh blueberries with the blueberry sauce. I also loved the two small slices of plain cheesecake that's on the bingsu. I could have done without the random pieces of cereal. The vanilla ice cream scoop on top was mediocre. The shaved ice didn't have much flavour, but there was a generous amount of it. Their shaved ice also leans more towards the icy rather than the smooth side. Price was a bit steep -$16 for a large, or $12 for a small (aka tiny). read more

My only complaint was that the all of the windows were seriously fogged up. They need to dehumidy the place. There's a curious looking alcove on the side. If this is a storage area, they did a really good job hiding it. Staff were friendly. The cakes here are quite good. Not the cheapest at $7 a slice, but they are way less sweet than many western places, which I like. The hot chocolate I had was pretty good too. This place also has bingsu, though I didn't try this time. Although I'm not much of a dessert guy, I wouldn't mind coming by here again. Recommended. read more

Came here for the first time because I was in the area and was craving shaved ice. Ordered the larger size of Mango bingsu with my boyfriend! We were easily able to finish it even after dinner. It was delicious -- mangos seemed fresh and the cheese cube things on top were really yummy too. The shaved ice they use seems to be made from milk instead of ice, so it gave each bite the right amount of pleasant sweetness. The owner was super sweet and recommended the crowaffle as well which I will try next time! It's usually pretty busy here because it is so popular. I don't know why i dont read my own reviews before coming...but I came and got the mango bongo with my mom and dad and again, I was underwhelmed with it. It is 11 dollars for a single now which I find quite expensive! Although the mangoes were sweet, there wasn't enough textural contrast compared to the injolmi or green tea shaved ice. I did like that it came with ice cream instead of whipped cream but overall, the whole thing is much sweeter. I honestly think this review especially reflects a personal preference because I just dont really like fruit bingsoos but both my mom and dad do so that's the one I went with. At first glance, the prices seem pretty steep for Korean shaved ice (bingsoo) but the large size portion is enough to share for 3-4 people. We got the mango bongo which had vanilla shaved rice, mango cubes, fresh cheesecake cubes, and vanilla ice cream on top with a mango drizzle. It was a very light dessert - not overly sweet but still very satisfying. Korean shaved ice is much lighter than regular shaved ice. They have a variety of flavors, including matcha, choco bear (cute), blueberry Cheesecake, etc. I want to come back to try their colorful iced lattes next time. The place is brightly lit with adequate seating. Overall pretty yummy shaved ice to share with friends on a summer day. Since we paid so much I was expecting more injulmi but there were only 8 pieces on top and 1tbsp of red bean. Its as good as we remember, or maybe even better as I remember. The milky shaved ice is delightful with perfect amount of sweetness. We had order Matcha shaved ice, and the matcha powder has very nice taste balance with the topping. From the top you get sweet red beans and mix of small mochi and cheesecake chunks. I was next door at Muse Salon to get my hair cut and my friend recommended I check out this place while I'm in town ... best decision ever! Granted that it was raining, the drink has a best sticker next to it, so I thought hey, why not. I got it with soy milk. It's really delicious and I recommend you try it!
