cute little shaved ice dessert spot in the west end, tucked in at 907 denman street. it's bright and airy inside, with a clean setup, and a few casual tables if you want to sit and cool off for a bit. everything feels relaxed and low key, and has been quite busy with line ups, depending on when you visit. they specialize in bingsu/kakigori, and the menu is full of tempting shaved ice options i'll have to come back for. this time, i ordered the real watermelon slush, went sugar free, which sounded like a good idea at the time. it was super light, icy, and naturally sweet, but i probably should've just gotten it with regular sugar. it's served in a tall cup, vibrantly red and frosty, with a thin paper lid stretched across the top (which i had difficulty puncturing a hole through with the thin straw, lol), the drink was simple, refreshing, and very summery. overall, not bad for a health conscious choice, but next time i'll go all in. looking forward to trying their proper shaved ice desserts when i return.

We were craving bingsoo after our dinner. We walked about 30 mins for this dessert and they were yummy. Surprise cornflakes were at the bottom of all that shaved ice. Well worth our walk to get tbis.

Parking: Paid street parking available right in front of the establishment. Drinks: Both drinks were great! You can adjust the sugar level which is nice. Service was quick and easy!

Excellent snow ice with mango. The ice just doesn't melt which is just pretty amazing. Snack * Mango ice

We were craving a cool, refreshing dessert on this warm BC Day, so we walked here from Morton Park. The place already had a few customers seated, with a few more infront of us, but my party of 8 was still able to get seats at a couple of tables. Service was quick and friendly. The washroom was also decently clean after what was surely a long, busy day - after all, it was BC Day near the beach. We got the Tiramisu Bingsu (available for a limited time); the Strawberry Tanghulu (Summer item). The strawberries were fresh and not too sweet. The Bingsu was delicious - good flavor, not too sweet. The ice was a nice fine texture, and the ice was proportioned well with the flavor. Some places seem to only have flavor at the top then you're left with just ice towards the bottom of your bowl. Everyone else got drinks that they were all satisfied with.

Needed a little schnack before our reservation and this place was close by. I came here because I wanted to try the strawberry covered in.. sugar on a stick. I wanted to see what the hype was about and it was really good! I would definitely come here and get more if I could.

Strawberry cheesecake bingsu- came with a scoop of ice cream on top, bowl lined with whipped cream cheese, and hidden corn flakes and cheese cake bits on the bottom. Absolutely delightful. There was a bit of wait for tables though. Lots of groups hanging out here.

I recently had really good bingsu elsewhere, so unfortunately the bingsu here paled in comparison. My friend and I got the strawberry cheesecake bingsu in the snack size to share, but we were confused because we could not find any cheesecake in the bingsu. The strawberry pieces were also cubed/diced and seemed a bit yellow and pale. The bingsu was served with heavy whipped cream and sweet strawberry syrup, which overpowered the shaved milk. I think this flavour may be more suitable for people who enjoy really sweet desserts.

Didn't know what to expect as it was our first time trying Korean dessert. Bingsu is a milk-based shaved ice dessert. Winter bear is a small cafe but kept very clean. Made to order and quick! We got the strawberry cheesecake bingsu- it's a must!!! 10/10 dessert and I'd recommend sharing due to size. Such a delicious treat! It just melts in your mouth. Can't recommend it enough.

My partner and I got the mango bingsu to share. It was really good, but too big for us! I like that Winter Bear also has a snack-size option, but I forgot about it this time lol. Lots of mango and a scoop of ice cream too. They also have some sort of flake cereal inside to give it a little texture, which is really welcome. The ratio of toppings and shaved milk ice is really balanced. The bingsu is really good here. Service is really good and inside the shop is very spacious and modern. Lots of seating when we went, but I can see it filling up fast on hotter days.

Amazingly good bingsoo / shaved ice and, if you like creamy ice cream, maybe the best ice cream place in Vancouver. Every ingredient that goes into the bingsoo is amazing, including the ice cream, which is creamier and smoother than I've had anywhere else in Vancouver. I find it mind boggling that Rain or Shine often has a line out the door, whereas this place has been mostly empty every time I've stopped by. Maybe people don't know what bingsoo is and are lumping it in with Asian desserts like mooncake and haw flakes? I took a friend here and she said that, based on her experience, she's re-evaluating her opinion on Asian desserts. This place is worth trying even if you don't generally like Asian desserts!

I came here one evening with a friend and it was pretty fun! The inside of the cafe isn't huge but there's definitely multiple tables for you to come with your friends. They had so many fun bingsoo flavors, but we decided to get the classic matcha bingsoo. The girl working at the counter was super sweet and didn't take long to make our bingsoo considering that she was the only one working at the time. When it came out, it was SO big and we poured condensed milk on top (I recommend not using all of it at first as it might just flow off and onto the tray). The bingsoo itself was very light and delicious. It didn't stand out in anyway compared to other bingsoo spots, however, it was still pretty good! Wouldn't go out of my way for this spot, but if I was in the area I would love to come back!

Well it seems ownership has changed and the new owner doesn't give two craps about prior customers, honoring discounts, replying back timely or being more friendly? Was playing email tag and finally submitted the 39 flavors and didn't hear back until after another week and then told they won't deliver only in morning when they know our reservation was for 730pm and they're open until 9? I even replied back and nothing. We own and run several business in lower mainland and in United States and this customer service from Unni Pastries is trash. At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy. You should've at least replied back and even tried asking us to do pickup as the restaurant is down the road. Do better! Go to Mello which isn't too far and they bake fresh daily better pricing and reviews and consistency!

I'm from the Bay Area and we have our fair share of Japanese grocery stores (shout out to Niiya in Japantown in San Francisco) but I was very excited to see the selection here. They even had Japanese canned drinks stored hot like in Japan! The take away Japanese desserts also looked good. This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience.
