2 pc chicken with Taiwanese style rice
Sangeetha M.

The picture outside is so mouth watering I had to try it but I was quite disappointed. The food is pricey given its a whole in the wall fast food like place. The jumbo chicken steak took awhile to make and was alright. Nothing special. Same with the 2 pc chicken with Taiwanese rice. Something I can cook. Their chicken is very average. Good thing was the staff there was nice and explained the menu well. Limited menu though, not many options.

DF Oyster mushrooms, hand cut fries and yam fries

I remember trying these ginormous fried chicken steaks at the Richmond Night Market one year. It's nice to see them venture out to brick and mortar locations in Richmond and now, in downtown Vancouver. Opted for the boneless chicken bites, yam fries, regular fries, fried oyster mushrooms and fried squid balls. The chicken was quite tasty, not too oily. The batter had a mix of spice and sweetness. The meat was juicy and tender - kicked up chicken nuggets! Hand cut fries and yam fries were crispy and tender. Table fave were the fried oyster mushrooms, unique and umami. The squid balls were nice, but needed a condiment other than ketchup or sweet n spicy sauce. Very friendly staff. The price point is ok, but on the higher end all things considered. A nice treat every once in a while.

I wasted too much money here, not because it was good, because I was foolish to get caught in their scam. The chicken they sell is decently good chicken but it's so overpriced it's insane. The chicken is also every salty so each piece I was dying for water. It's a nice crispness and taste but it's just so salty. The mini chicken steaks are fine but for $10 it's a hefty price for a couple pieces so chicken. The chicken is also on the thin side so if you're looking for something resembling a chicken nugget this is gonna be like it's flattened cousin. Popcorn chicken pieces were too small. Some of the pieces were ok sized but the smaller ones were borderline dry. I don't think I will go here again honestly.

Taste different with Taiwan's original, fries too much oily. After order, it takes 15-20 min to get foods. the price too high. I expected Taiwan's chicken steaks. You guys better to reorganize this business.

I don't understand how this kind of business can ever grow or even just exist. Vancouver keeps surprising me. I mean, the staff is great. The food is Absolutely Terrible. Not a little bad. Really bad. The second worst I've ever had in Vancouver. The chicken is bad. It's marinated in stuff I don't like, it gives it a weird texture. It's very sweet. I repeat, it's very sweet. It's unhealthy useless sugar. The first bites I thought I was eating bad candy. I wish well for the owners and the staff but I hope this kind of shops just cease to exist. It's so bad. Please just go out of business. The wait time was very long, it's the slowest and the most expensive fast food place I've ever been to. McDonald's, which is not good by my standards, is a thousand times better. If everything was free and easy access and with no wait time, I would still never go back there. The only reason I'm not giving a single star is because the staff was nice. Do I regret spending almost $30? Yes. I wish I never had to write this review. I wish I never knew about that place and its food. The fries... they're worse than frozen fries, by my standards. They're even worse than soft cold McDonald's fries. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a bit about the fries. But their quality is so bad, most of them are grey on the inside. Good luck if you dare to try.

Delicious fried chicken! Got the regular chicken and it was tender and moist inside, not dry like many places tend to be.

Decor is modern with 4 tables.

We…read morecame on a weekday afternoon right before the busy lunch hour - it was packed 30 min after we arrived! The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

Classic Brown Sugar Ice Bear $16+: definitely very fun and cute, and it's a shareable size. I liked how there was a layer of grass jelly and chewy konjac jelly on the bottom for added texture. The snout is made of ice cream and topped with a pair of Oreo ears. I'd recommend eating it quickly or perhaps getting a separate bowl to mix it. The ice is traditional Taiwanese-styled, so it is coarse and therefore doesn't absorb the syrup as well as bingsoo for example (which is fine/powdery ice). Soft Serve w/ Freeze Dried Fruit 6+: you can also get the soft serve in a cone which is about $1 cheaper, but you can't add toppings to it. I really liked the real freeze-dried fruits, especially the blueberries. There are other fruits available too (eg. Strawberries, raspberry, pistachio etc) which are all addition $2. The blackberries were a bit to big and had lots of seeds, so the texture was a bit too crunchy mixed with the soft ice cream. Dried blueberries were amazing though and jam packed with flavour. Since it's real fruit, some of them may be quite sour (which I actually enjoyed) as it pairs well with the sweetness of the soft serve. Soft Serve w/ Brown Sugar Pearls $6+: brown sugar syrup wasn't too sweet, so I enjoyed this as well. My favourite would still be adding freeze dried blueberries though, as it's more unique and fruity (personal preference) Espresso Meets Grass Jelly & Gelato $8+: pretty strong coffee drink, unlike a lot of bubble tea/dessert places, so I'd only recommend it to regular coffee drinkers (me). The drink is served hot with a scoop of gelato which melts very quickly. LOTS of soft grass jelly - you'll definitely get a mouthful of it every sip. Good amount of sweetness for me.

The chicken was ok but very small portion. the accompaniments were pretty standard. The dish also took forever to prepare somehow, especially when there is literally NOBODY else waiting. This place was literally empty. Overall the dish was just not great. Seems like the product of a struggling business trying to stay afloat. The entire mini mall was essentially dead - not sure how anything here survives tbh. The place is really run-down and dingy as well, for those who have not been to this market before. i wont be back.

Each time, service was super slow, some staff are not well trained on how to greet customers or talk to customers, and I got green onions every time I asked for no green onions (I never gave it back though). I know it's not a big deal if you forget once or twice, but it's been like this every single time. I can easily pick it out, but if you have the option for customers not to put it in, then I do feel it's a slight problem if you constantly forget. The portions have been getting smaller and small every time. Overall, not as impressed as I used to be. I dont think it's the employees problems though, the boss is just under hiring for rush hour time! (Even during non rush hour their service is kind of slow..). They have people running around but half the tables are empty and not clean. They don't have enough employees hence everyone has to wait for a long time. Hoping to see some improvements in the near future.

When I asked, the manger rudely stated it's because we're 5. She was aggressive and argumentative which was not appreciated. This doesn't make sense as this was the largest table in the whole restaurant as well. Now when we asked about other smaller tables that we could move next to this table, their excuse was that other guest "may show up".  Now what about the current guest? They could easily have moved a two person table next to the 4 person table. Yet they were saving for guest who were clearly not coming. how silly is this by not moving a few tables to keep your customers happy. Will not be going to this location from now on.
