I have to revise my prior excellent rating to poor. Slow service. My wife and I ordered the same dish, veal piccata. When delivered the waitress started to load my wife's with Parmesan cheese, so I gave her mine. Turned out to be chicken. She sent it back. When delivered it was sprinkled with breadcrumbs and covered with a gluey sauce made from cornstarch and lemon (she is a personal chef). It was inedible, so my wife's dinner was a salad. No manager came to apologize, leaving it to a harried waitress to do so. Wasn't charged for wife's dinner, but that's not the point. Let me begin by saying that our waitress, Chantel, was an absolute angel. She did everything that she possibly could - and was stuck waiting the entire outside patio by herself. Aside from her graciousness, this experience was one of the worst in my entire life. I hope this does not speak just to my privilege, but to the horrific nature of this excursion with my family. Upon being seated, we were greeted kindly by our waitress and given menus. We waited another 20 minutes before we were given our drinks and ordered the appetizers and meal. Another 20 minutes pass before I recieve my drink, which tastes like ... nothing! Absolutely nothing. I decide instead to order a wine, which does not make it for another 20 minutes. Again, I'd like to express that Chantel is doing her absolute best. She is waiting on the bar and kitchen - and I'd never blame her for our misfortune. But after an hour, our appetizers finally show. It's a mediocre, if not absolutely humiliating display. Bruschetta is falling apart, the $15 salad was nothing more than 4 pieces of lettuce. The kitchen forgot our third appetizer, which did not arrive for -- you guessed it -- another 20 minutes. Finally, after another hour of waiting, we received our food. It was absolutely abismal. I could have made the bolognese in my backyard with dirt and it would have tasted better. Everything was an absolute, utter, disappointment. While it is rare that I post such reviews, know it is out not out of despair and rage - but hope that I can save someone the experience that I had. read more

In all my years of dining out this was the single worst customer service experience I have ever had. Our food hadn't come out after an hour, and one of our party members politely inquired about our food (as one does). The waitress said the computers were down. Two problems with that: first of all, if that were the case why wouldn't you proactively communicate that? Second of all, that reason was suspicious because we saw others who came in after us and got their food, some even had finished! After a bit longer, another member of our party asked to speak to a manager. The manager came out and yelled, "Are you the one having the meltdown?" and then proceeded to get in a shouting match with another member of our party. We were absolutely shocked. Can you imagine this actually happening?!? We asked her, "shouldn't you apologize to us?" and she screamed, "I apologize to no one!!!" We should've checked the reviews of this place before we ate here, as many others have complained about similar issues with the service and management. Chicken parm thin and the cheese was very clearly sliced and thrown on top. Haddock had no flavor. Eggplant parm was square with cheese on the inside. "Colossal" shrimp was not. A Must Go!!!! To start off we were seated at a beautiful table in the lawn, the staff was friendly, and fast to get waters and bread to us. Lady was our server she was lovely! She recommended the lobster parpadelle and I am so grateful she did. We started with the oysters Rockefeller- so delicious especially on a slice of the crusty bread. I had the lobster bisque and my husband had the arugula salad. Both were delicious, there was a lot of lobster in the bisque and it was so creamy!! We had large portions with the parpadelle and seafood linguine (ciopinno). The flavors were phenomenal in both were so well done. My family makes their own macaroni and I can truly say this parpadelle was divine! Dessert was tiramisu and blueberry pie - again delicious. What stood out to me and got me to write this review however was not the delicious food but the friendly, kind and welcoming service. We overheard the owner chatting with guests and I searched her out to let her know how delicious the food was and how much I appreciated her positive personality and outlook! In this time of Covid we have found many business owners who are frustrated with the tourist climate but not Kathy or her staff! They found out we were on our honeymoon and their kindness made our night. If you are in town and don't go to Robertos you will miss out on amazing food and lovely people. A recommendation from an acquaintance of mine. The wine was good. The bread and oil was good as well. I went with the seafood chowder as it was recommended by our waitress Anna. It was good. Loaded with different types of seafood, creamy, and hot (temperature). Good choice by our waitress. My wife ordered the Spinach Salad. She loved it. Crispy and fresh spinach topped with a delicious vinaigrette dressing, accompanied by walnuts (?) and apple slices. For dinner I went with the Chicken Rollatini. The pasta was cooked perfectly but it lacked flavor. The chicken also lacked flavor but was so tender and juicy. My wife ordered the Braised Short Rib over Risotto which was on the specials menu. I wish I had ordered this because it was delicious. Our waitress did a fine job. They were extremely busy and we didn't have a reservation. My family has been coming to Robertos for 30 years. We have never had a bad experience. Knowing that, we were excited to come back for yet another year. This time we were BEYOND disappointed with our experience from start to finish. Our disaster of a night started with the hostess saying we had no reservation when we arrived. The previous day I had stopped in personally to make a reservation with the same hostess. They found us a table but we were already uneasy with a party of 7 that they were clearly not expecting. We then entered the dining room where we witnessed two irate customers yelling that they were leaving because they asked for a salt shaker and never got it. It took a long time to get our drinks and it took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get our food. When it did come out, the appetizers came out at the same time as our entrees. The chicken rollatini was very tough and the sauce tasted like kraft macaroni cheese. Most of the other entrees looked like they were waiting in the back for a while before they came out. Lastly, when we received the receipt for our bill, our card was swiped for the wrong tab from a totally different table. We then had to spend more time to call our waitress over so we could be charged for the correct tab. In totality, it took close to 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. We hope this review helps Robertos get their act together. They are clearly understaffed and mismanaged. We would really love to come back some day. Went to dinner on a rainy Thursday night. The restaurant has several options for indoor and outdoor seating including a tent for 2020. It's a beautiful building which looks to have been an old inn. We walk in past a beautiful bar area and grabbed a table for 2. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. We ordered some drinks, 2 salads and out entrees. Note. Salads are not included. Our server brought some Italians bread and a homemade dipping sauce that was delicious. Our salad were very good. The dressing on the wedge was tasty and rich but there didn't seem to be enough of it. My wife's chicken Parmesan was fried well, the cut was thin but not dry at all. My seafood risotto was very delicious. The sauce was rich and creamy. The seafood was not in abundance including 2 shrimp, 2 scallops and 2 lobsters claws with other very small bits mixed in. I would get it again but be aware it's not a mountain of seafood. All in all we had a nice time. The decor and restaurant is very nice and welcoming and the service was great. Our food was delicious but for the price we were expecting something just a tad better with slightly larger portions. We would return but would consider other restaurants beforehand. read more

What follows is a rant and for some, a funny story on what seems to happen to me...... Roberto's Restaurant at 200 Shore Road in Ogunquit, Maine- $165.00 for dinner for 4. With reservations for 7:15 arriving early at 7:05, finally sat down at 8:00 after complaining. Seated outside because we were extremely hungry and didn't want to wait another 1/2 hour. People who arrived after us were seated before us. And seated inside. After another 1/2 hour, it started getting dark and girls were getting cold. We just got water and bread bowl. People next to us, who arrived after us, received and finished their appetizers. We're still waiting. Had enough. Went inside where 1/2 the restaurant is now empty, complained, and had them seat us inside. FInally got our appetizers, well, kind of. One was cold (should have been hot) and mine, well, you saw my "salad". Husband's glass was cracked from top to bottom. Got a new glass. Here comes dinner, after 2 hours. Daughter's dinner has cheese on it - she's vegan and requested no cheese. My chicken parm is luke warm and bland, but the pasta was hot. Im so not happy. But wait! There's more! When our check came, I asked to speak to the manager. Apparently she knew I wasn't happy and was ready with an attitude. Well, I had one too! Her first statement to me was "I was told you weren't happy from the time you sat down". I asked her how happy she would be having reservations, arriving early, seated after people who arrived later than you without reservations and not getting your food after 2 hours?! I didn't get to taste the food because the amateur staff didn't come to the table to great me. I sat at my table in the too-brightly lit dining room, watching other people getting served, for 12-15 minutes before giving up. The teenaged hostess chased after me and tried to get me to stay and apologized for my absentee server, but there wasn't going to be any conversation. I don't think that highly of our restaurant. Go to Roberto's and you can experience this ridiculously sub par attitude yourself! No longer worth the high prices they charge you for sub par food. The Lobster Pappardelle was nothing like it used to be. Pasta was definitely not homemade and the sherry cream sauce was a disgrace. There was a decent amount of lobster, but nothing like before. The waitstaff was good but some were inappropriately dressed to be serving people in a fine dining establishment. The bar was so understaffed that we were told that if we were going to want another drink, we had to give them a 10-15 min warning! After a 2 year hiatus, we returned to Robertos and while the beginning of the evening was a little disjointed, our server Jennifer not only rescued the night, she made it GREAT. Jennifer was a breath of fresh air, who handled a very packed restaurant, that appeared to be short staffed, with just the right mix of skill, attention to detail and humor. The food was, delicious and the drinks were very generous but, without the right server, the night would have ended differently. Congratulations to Robertos for both their food & drink product, but more importantly personnel! COVID hit everyone hard, but none more than those in the restaurant industry and it's the hard working professionals like Jennifer that ensure the restaurants they work for will always survive. I will never come to this establishment again. We walked in right at prime dinner seating time (5:00 PM). The waitress seated us a table where the table cloth was covered in stains (probably from the previous lunch service). The waitstaff then sent us to another table, and as we walked past the other tables in the establishment, we saw that every single tablecloth was covered in stains and had white paper on the tops (probably to cover other stains). They sent us to 3 tables and everything single one covered in pizza sauce stains, chocolate ice cream stains. And when we told the waitress we were leaving and how disgusting it was she looked at us with a face that I interpreted as"i don't care" and "its not my problem" if I could this place zero starts I would. read more

I've dined at the pizza place twice in this paradise city of Ogunquit. One time it was a great summer sunny day, the other a very rainy summer evening. Both times were fun and I enjoyed the privacy of the back deck as well as the pizzas and the friendly waitstaff. It would've been nice to have more options on the menu but pizza always hits the spot any day (plus you can order from their next door restaurant). I also like that I got to try the Lobster Ale. We had not eaten in this restaurant in several years. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu choices and delicious food we experienced. We were greeted at the door and headed to the bar, where we chatted for a few minutes with a very congenial bartender. For a moment we thought about forgoing our table and dining in the bar area, it was so inviting! We headed to our table, a great little booth. The server was very attentive and made a few recommendations for us and answered all of our questions. We decided to share oysters rock and beef carpaccio, both were delicious. I am very particular when it comes to oysters rock and I have to say the chef knocked this dish out of the park. The beef carpaccio was also very well prepared. For our mains I wanted home made ravioli. There were three choices and based on the server's recommendation I went for the lobster ravioli with brandy cream sauce. We live on ocean and I usually avoid lobster dishes in restaurants as they are usually geared for tourists, but I decided to risk it. I am glad I did, it was fabulous, perfectly cooked with a nice delicate sauce that did not over power the dish. My husband had the veal piccata. It was also very good. It came loaded with capers which made the dish absolutely delicious!! The veal was nice and tender and the pasta served with it was also cooked al denté. Great job Chef!! We loved our meal and I would remiss if I didn't mention the fabulous bartender who mixed up our starting cocktails. My gin martini was perfect!! Thanks to the staff at Robertos for a great evening. Unfortunately a very mediocre (at best) experience. We've been here several times before, but this year, there were many issues. Staffing: Very short staffed, and completely unorganized! All staff were wearing different outfits from leggings to NIKE pants! Although we had reservations, the front of the house was completely overwhelmed. Also our server was just okay. Not really paying attention to the service details. Talking to another table way too much as we were waiting for service. He also had us waiting 20 minutes for drinks telling us they were "3 bartenders down" at the bar. Our meal was okay. Nothing great. I hope these reviews helps the restaurant to get back to the good experience we've had in the past. read more

No bueno is the best way I can describe this establishment. I ordered chicken piccata and the chicken was as hard as a hockey puck. I couldn't eat it so I ate the pasta with the bland sauce it was doused in. Water refills are hard to come by as well. 20 minutes after ordering lasagna, our server came by to tell us the restaurant was all out. Pretty sure that could have been communicated to us much sooner. Totally understand the need for different expectations nowadays, but this was pretty terrible. What a great experience. We stopped here on a Sunday night so it was not too busy. Everyone was very friendly. For an appetizer we had the stacked Mediterranean Vegetables. Very flavorful and just the correct size. Dinner was the halibut for my wife and I had the haddock. Both were cooked to perfection and delicious. Mediocre experience. With so many other places in town I'd recommend Roberto's last. I sat at the bar and there was what seemed to be a bartender, a bar back and a server. Their jobs where unclear since each seemed to ask the same questions of me. Each should have a specific job and perhaps a section to manage. They all seemed to be stepping over each other. My beet salad was delicious but rushed since the entree came out too fast - bad timing. Lastly, the haddock was dry as if it were frozen. Definitely won't be back too soon. read more

Had reservations for 8:00PM. We arrived 12 minutes early and checked in with the hostess. We said we were there early but would gladly take a table on the porch (which had two open tables) if that would help. The hostess was a little rude and visibly put out but seated us just the same. We waited for a solid 15 -20 minutes when finally a waitress came over to ask us if we wanted a drink. After we almost done giving our order, the portly hostess came rushing over and told the waitress she was at the wrong table and she needed to take the order of another couple that came in after us. We felt like we were nothing but a bother and that we were unwelcome. With that we got up and left and had a fabulous meal at Angelina's where we received a warm welcome even though we had no reservations. We eat out all the time and will not return. read more

This restaurant gives the illusion of fine and quality dining but this is not the case. The food was ok but not worth the high prices they charge. The only good service received was from the busboy who kept apologizing for the delay. We chose this restaurant because it looked like a serious Italian restaurant. It was beautiful, items listed on the menu sounded delicious and the outdoor tent had available tables but as soon as we walked in the restaurant, there was no one in site. We spotted a waiter and he pointed us to another room where the hostess was located. Hostess asked if we had a reservation (no) and she hesitated and then asked us to wait. When she returned, she had long sheets of white paper, small plates and utensils setting wrapped in cloth napkins. She asked us to follow her to "see if there were any tables available outside for us". There were plenty and she placed us at one. Almost immediately a waitress shows up and wants our drink order but we were not ready, as we were just settling in and looking at the menu, so she walked away. We did not see the waitress for at least 15 minutes. The busboy did come and brought water and a basket of warm sliced bread and a olive oil dressing. When the waitress finally returned she took our order of drinks, appetizers and entrees. Drinks came first and we waited for close to 50 minutes before our appetizers arrived. Prior to that I went to the hosted to ask why the delay. While I was away from the table someone went to our table and told my family that the delay was caused by the fact that they only had 2 chefs preparing the food...really! This is not an excuse! I was ready to walk out a couple of times while waiting for service, which, again, only came from the busboy! The food was good but not exceptional as we were expecting due to their high priced menu and beautiful restaurant. I wish we had walked out and not spent the money we did on 2 adults and a teenager with a small appetite. Very disappointing experience! read more

Back in the day, Roberto's (which is the main restaurant this pizzeria is attached to) was the place to be in Ogunquit. We're talking like late 1980s / early 1990s. Back then, Robert himself (the establishment's namesake) was in the kitchen and his then-wife Kathy ran front-of-house. Today, Robert is long gone and Roberto's is the definition of "meh" dining: not the worst, but certainly not worth the money. We dropped $55 on a Caesar salad some summer kid in the kitchen (most likely) couldn't bother pick out the rotten lettuce or stem (see photo) and two medium pizzas, one of which we had to send back because it was barely cooked and had been topped with raw arugula (yes, some of that was rotten, too). Sauce: sweet. Crust: nicely thin but essentially tasteless. Beer: bottom of the keg Stella Artois with almost no bubbles for $5. It should be noted, too, that we dined at Roberto's Pizzeria was dead quiet; it was post-Labor Day and there was one table eating when we arrived and one table about to be served. My family visits Ogunquit each year and Roberto's is one of our first restaurant stops! Coming from northern NJ we are used to good Italian food, and this place does not disappoint. Service is always excellent and they're on Open Table which makes it easy to reserve a table in a tourist town. The menu is very extensive - from pasta dishes to seafood to Italian classics there is something for everyone. During our last trip we went twice so I was able to try several dishes - appetizer standouts include the burrata, mussels, and beef carpaccio. My FAVORITE entree is the seafood fra diavlo - filled with shrimp, lobster and scallops with just the right amount of spice. The risotto dishes are also super yummy but very filling. Full bar with specialty martinis and a dessert menu that looks good but we never really have room to get to.. Roberto's rocks! read more
