Small location located right next to IHOP in the Rolling Valley Shopping center with Lidl. I've enjoyed this place ever since they opened this location and it has not disappointed once. I've been wanting to try the Roaming Rooster for a few weeks, since my gym is right by the restaurant. When I came into the small dining room and went up to the counter, I was greeted and told about the specials. I ordered the Beltway Box-- two wings, fries, and a slice of bread. It also comes with a medium drink. You can specify the heat level for the chicken (I chose medium). I was called to the counter in a short time. The greasy, tasteless wings had a hint of heat and the meat was tender. When I picked them up, there was a puddle of grease, so I had to wring the wings out with my napkin. The fries would've been better had they not been so greasy. This will probably be my last trip here. read more

I've been to the Roaming Rooster location in Silver Spring before and always enjoyed it, so I decided to check out the Burke spot. This time I tried the wings just to switch things up. Amazing chicken sandwiches - high quality, juicy, and delicious! The OG Nashville sandwich with the medium heat level was really good (warning: the spice builds). The sandwich consisted of two very crispy fried chicken fillets on a bed of fresh slaw and pickles, enveloped by a soft bun. I prefer one large fillet rather than two smaller ones, since it's harder to eat and keep the sandwich intact. The slaw was a bit too wet, making the bun pretty soggy, which also contributed to the sandwich falling apart. The fries aren't my favorite cut and it was a tad overcooked, but they're not bad. It's nice to have locations outside of the district. You can't go wrong with a chicken sandwich from roaming rooster. I got the chicken sandwich with the honey butter on it. It was very delectable. I always add a little heat to mine because the honey and heat compliment each other very well. With that said, you can select the spiciness of the chicken. The fries are terrible, they need to work on improving the fries. I'm also sad to see they don't have the chipotle mayo, at least this location didn't. We were too lazy to head to the DC location or even the Tysons one so we were glad this one popped up. We've been here twice in about a week because we enjoyed it so much (one order in and one for takeout). We've tried the OG Nashville, the Honey Butter, the Club, and their fries. Portions are pretty big here since all the sandwiches come with two chicken breasts and the fries come by the fistful (my best comparison for now?) so you only need one order. Favorite sandwich is the club since it comes with bacon and ranch. The chicken is pretty juicy and crispy for the most part and so are the fries since they are twice fried. The OG Nashville isn't dipped in a sauce like expected but it's still very solid regardless. If you're looking for a good fried chicken sandwich and a filling meal, it's definitely worth a look. read more

There are a couple less than enthusiastic ladies working the register but usually the employees are very friendly. But who really cares because the food is effing awesome. I've been five or six times and each time the food was incredible so that's consistency. I like the honey butter chicken either mild or medium spice. Medium is actually pretty spicy. It is all about fried chicken up in here. I am trying to get this girlish figured back. But I am going to do it not for the vine, but for the Yelp. I generally try to not eat Icar but we were at the park waiting for the gender reveal. I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and I got my Husband the Chicken Club sandwich. Both were fresh, well-seasoned and deliciously pleasing to the pallet! My tongue and stomach were both happy(We won't tell about thr thighs right now). So we'll worth it though. My BF and I ordered takeout directly from Roaming Rooster on a weekday a little after 11am. I've had RR in DC, but this was my first time trying it outside of the food truck. I can't speak to the physical location or customer service since my BF picked up the order; however our food was ready very quickly- about 15 minutes after ordering. Everything was really tasty and RR does not play when it comes to spice level. Our chicken tenders were the hottest, and we had to eat them in waves to protect our mouths and tastebuds. The portions were healthy, particularly the chicken and slaw. The chicken was juicy and the outside had a nice crunch. The slaw was, surprisingly, delicious and I thought it contained the perfect balance regarding vinegar. I'd definitely order lunch from this location of RR in the future. read more

After hearing a ton of good reviews about this place, I had to try it - We got 2 OG Nashville chicken sandwiches, one medium and one hot, a side of fries, and all of the sauces on the side. It was about $10 for the sandwich and $4 for the fries which is pretty good for competitive pricing. They labeled our sandwiches (1) and (2), so we had to figure it out ourselves which sandwich was medium and hot. Asked one of the employees for help and they said it was labeled in the order that we had said it in (which was actually wrong). Looking at the sandwich, the portions of the sandwich look very decent. After taking a bite, the chicken itself is very juicy, tender, and crispy which is super good... but other than that it was underwhelming because the flavor was just not there. Taking a bite out of my girlfriends sandwich, it seemed like all of the spicy seasoning was dumped on one side of the sandwich, so all you got was one big bite of heat and after that no more heat. It wasn't spread properly. The sauces on the side didn't help too. The coleslaw itself could've had more flavor since it tasted pretty raw. The fries though... the fries were done really well and very yummy. In comparison to other chicken sandwich places (Woobois, Hangry Joe's, Hot Lolas), this place is lacking behind. The flavor at these chicken places is super tasty, I hope this place will catch up. I'll be coming back for a redemption eventually. Chicken was barely fried enough, spice was uneven, coleslaw was basically raw cabbage? I couldn't finish it, it was sad. HOWEVER, the fries showed their full potential. I'm so happy I finally got to try RR and as expected, it was delicious and totally lived up to the hype. I ordered the OG Nashville Chicken sandwich in Hot and my husband got it in Mild. We ordered two sides of fries with spicy mayo. We did order our sandwiches to go and also made a stop at another store before heading home. The fries were cold by the time we started eating but we both agreed they definitely tasted better if they were fresh. The sandwich at this point was just warm but it was still so so good. The bun was soft, the slaw was amazing and the pickled were great. The star of the show was definitely the chicken! Which btw you get two huge chicken breasts in one sandwich! There were several tables in the location, mainly two seaters unless you joined tables so we were able to dine in! They currently do have the option to order online. We got the OG Nashville (mild) and the Honey Butter sandwiches (medium) with a side of fries. Firstly, the chicken sandwiches are PACKING. They had two chicken breasts on the sandwich so I felt this was very much worth the price of ~$10 a sandwich. It really depends on your spice tolerance. My friend who cannot tolerate spice got the medium and it was hot for him. However, my friend who could take like the Popeye's spicy was able to eat the Hot with no problems, so really depends. I thought the Nashville was delicious - it has homemade 'slaw and pickles also in the sandwich. Next time perhaps I'll get the medium level spice because mild was true to its word and I wished it had even more flavor. My boyfriend ordered the honey butter and that had an amazing flavor (we wished it had other ingredients on that sandwich as well, like pickles or something. but still, this one definitely stood out as unique and would get again!) We were asked what side condiments we would like, so we ordered honey mustard, sriracha mayo, and ketchup to enjoy with our side of fries. So the food at this new place is 5 stars. Seriously delicious chicken. The service is also very pleasant but I had to knock off 1 star because they charged me extra for ketchup. We were charged for the 3 extra honey mustard we got but to charge us for ketchup when you've e ordered fries is a bad look for this business. When we walked in it smelled so bad - almost like dirty walker or sewer water. There wasn't anyone inside yet it still took 15 minutes to get the food. I ordered a mild club sandwich and co worker ordered medium buffalo sandwich. The heat difference between the mild and medium was horrible. If I didn't see it on the receipt I'd say the mild had absolutely NO spice, the bacon was also raw. The medium was incredibly hot. Co worker ordered the medium without blue cheese and with ranch. The sandwich however came with blue cheese and NO ranch. We also split a fries which you could tell had been sitting for a while. There's far better places to get a chicken sandwich. read more

It was okay. I ordered an OG chicken sandwich in medium spice level and a side of fries, which came out to $15. The chicken sandwich was really pretty bland in my opinion. I cut it in half and shared it with my daughter who thought it was better than I did. Also, I'm not a Nashville chicken pro, but my understanding is that the fried chicken is dipped into a hot sauce before it goes in the sandwich, however, my chicken didn't seem like there was any sauce on it, more of a dry breading. The Cole slaw on the sandwich, in my opinion, could have been saucier. I would recommend to get the sriracha mayo for the sandwich. The sauces come on the side and I feel like the sandwich really benefited from the moisture and flavor of the sriracha mayo. The fries were crispy and good. I could have used more salt but I liked doing a combination of ketchup and sriracha mayo to dip the fries in-yum! The guy who rang me up at the counter was a as helpful as he could be, but did a major nose scratch/rub in front of me like it was normal and didn't wash or sanitizer when I was up there. The only reason I continued with my order was because he was not the one preparing the food, but it was still a concern. Like other reviewers, I feel like the price is high for what you get. I've eaten at the Tyson Corner location and the food there was good. BUT, this Burke location the food here is mediocre and the staff here is TERRIBLE! I asked to speak to a manager due to part of my online order was missing and I spoke to a Maria that said, there's no manager here but she was left in charge. I told Maria what I was missing and she laughed and said, what do you want me to do??? I said, well if you were left in charge you would know what to do... Clearly she's not competent at all... Refund my missing items or give me what I paid for! It's not that hard to do the right thing. To the manager/franchise owner you shouldn't leave Maria in charge of your establishment which is why your location gets a 1 STAR rating.
