Bad burgers...the bun was quite dry and got super soggy, causing everything to fall apart. The patty was dry and lukewarm despite eating it immediately after receiving my order. The flavors were alright (I got the Collaboration Burger and a side of the aioli). I liked the bacon jam, but the rest of the ingredients were low-quality. I also got a side of fries, where they skimped on the quantity because it was practically the size of one McDonald's kids meal fries. It tasted stale, too. I was not satisfied with my meal and wish the ingredients tasted fresh. I won't be returning and do not recommend this establishment. read more

They offer many different meat selections and you can build your own burger. The fries are excellent because again they offer many choices on flavors including Tater tots (which I think is a good idea because not everyone likes French fries. I ordered a burger, canna fries and a soda. I ended up finishing one burger and ordering another because you only live once and three months is a long period of time. My wife ordered th impossible burger meat and tater tots and a soda and she enjoyed her meal as well. The dining room is small but comfortable. The service is good because the are very customer focused and friendly and they even have small activities like coloring pages for the kids. I have mixed reviews about this place. I had the Collaboration Burger, side of fries, and a water cup which came up to $17. My co-worker got the Hot & Hefe burger, fries, fountain drink and a beer that came up over $30. I enjoyed the Collaboration burger. It was cooked to medium as requested. The sweetness of the pickled onion gave it a really nice contrast. By the 3rd bite in, unfortunately, the bottom bun had soaked in all the juices from the patty and toppings, thus causing it to be soggy and unsupportive. My co-workers Hot and Hefe burger was ordered to medium, however, the center was still rare. The side of fries while looks like a good amount in photos, both my coworker and I agreed the portion of fries could be bigger. I did like this Fairfax location had an outdoor patio seating area with shades and not much cars driving by, so it was quiet. The individual taking orders was very accommodating and took the time to check on ingredients for a dairy allergy in our party. We had one speciality burger-Pepper corn Steakhouse. The burger is stacked high with Gruyère, Fried Onion Straws, Sautéed Mushrooms, Lettuce, Tomato and Tellicherry Peppercorn Mayo. This burger was outstanding. Another order the special Blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich and thought it was a little spicy for her but enjoyed it. Lastly a create your own burger was order and devoured. So I had held off eating at this place for a while. I decided to give it a try this evening, and found it to be very dissapointing. I ordered a burger cooked medium, Cajun chicken nuggets and fries, along with a milkshake. The order was placed online at their site and picked up about fifteen minutes later. The burger was very undercooked, with the middle being basically raw. I'm not squeamish about eating rare or even raw beef, but I don't want my burger cooked like that. The fries were soft and soggy, but at least were seasoned ok with salt. The Cajun chicken nuggets were meh, pretty salty and had a strange aftertaste, I assume from their brining or breading process. They were supposed to come with pickle chips, but they were missing from my order. The milkshake was fine, nothing special, but I think it was the best part of the meal. This is supposed to be a premium burger joint, and they certainly charge premium prices, but I have to say that it just didn't please me anywhere close enough to consider giving them another try. The biggest standout is that they offer both a classic vegetarian burger and Impossible, which is perfect for us. They also had tots and a selection of Maine Root sodas. We got all the things and enjoyed them outside on their patio. Really kind service, resto was surprisingly empty so I hope they stay in business. It's been a while since we went to a Big Buns and we were craving a burger so we made the drive to this location. It was our first time here too. It's located where the Amazon Fresh is. Despite that, the parking lot had plenty of spots. The location itself isn't too big, a few tables inside and also a good amount outside. We ordered two bundles, one Anniversary and one Collaboration. We swapped out the fries with the Parmesan Truffle Fries and the Jammin' Sprouts. Their fountain drinks are pretty solid as well as the juices. The flavors and toppings of the burgers were as good as we remembered.. One of the issues we had was we were asked what temp we wanted for the burgers and we asked for medium and medium rare for each but both came out medium well to well. Not the end of the world because the burgers tasted great. The biggest issue was the up charge on the parmesan truffle fries and what I got. For an extra $5.50(!) just for a small sprinkle of cheese (no truffle) is a bad deal. You can see in the pictures but the parmesan truffle fries are $9.50 alone and it is such a small portion for that. Kind of disappointing with the up charge and what we received but still a solid burger and decent drinks. Service was friendly though and was not an issue. read more

Okay I gotta update this. I come here more than I should I have to it's close to work. And previously the buns and sandwich construction has been a major issue. The buns have always been soggy ate here 5 times and they were. I left a review and noticed an immediate change in the bun quality. 2 times since no soggy buns but the assembly is still weak. But a change has been noticed in the skewer in the burger to maintain structure. Good job cheeks keep it up! read more

This review is split into two parts (to explain my score) Food: - 4*. My only issues are that they don't ask for rarity, and a medium done burger can only so good. The other issue I have is that the lettuce is diced. This causes the burger to have an unstable base as they fall out (similar to how the lettuce pours out of a Big Mac, sauce and all!). I had a classic burger and it was tasty otherwise. Service: - I was looking over the menu, thinking about what I wanted, when I saw the combo deal. Burger + fries + soda for $17. I was hungry, so I asked if it was only the make-a-burger that qualified or if the specialty burgers counted too. He said all but two (the $13 and $16 burgers; makes sense) - So I ordered a make-your-own burger anyways. Paid up, and noticed as I went to pay that I was charged for Sauteed Onions. That was weird, it was a free topping. I didn't really mind, so I was going to tell the cashier that they need to update the menu (there are other premium ingredients, maybe this got missed?) - My burger came and I started picking out of it ... the raw onions. Now I'm annoyed. I already cleaned my hands as the lettuce and ketchup fell out and into my hands, exposing red onion underneath! Not only was I uncharged for it, I didn't even get what I asked! - I talked to the cashier about the up charge (not the wrong ingredient at first). He explained to me that sautéed mushrooms weren't pictured on the burger combo, so it's extra. Let's review: If I had ordered a more expensive specialty burger as part of this combo, I wouldn't have been up charged. If I had just ordered the make-a-burger, I wouldn't have been up charged. But because I ordered a combo and didn't squint hard enough to see that mushrooms were not in the picture, I got up charged. I'm writing this review after trying Big Buns Vienna branch, and the newest location in Fairfax. I tried the Classic burger, the Hot and Hefe, and the Shirlington Hot Nashville chicken sandwich. This is not your typical run-of-the-mill fast food burger joint. For the beef burgers, this place makes them exclusively from angus beef which makes for a totally elevated burger experience. I ordered mine medium and they were SO juicy and flavorful. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich (Shirlington) caught me by complete surprise. I didn't expect a burger place to sell such flavorful and truly hot chicken sandwich. It's not for the faint hearted, though. Order your hot sauce on the side and add it to taste if you cant take the heat. But don't sleep on this one. It tastes way better than at specialized hot chicken restaurants. I took away one star because the lower part of the bun gets very soggy and starts to disintegrate by the time you reach home. I would choose dine-in over takeaway for that reason. I hope they work on sourcing better quality buns or figure out a way for their buns not to get too soggy and ruin the nearly-perfect burger experience. Also, their fries portions are small compared to the price. Nevertheless, I'm definitely coming back for more flavorful burgers and hot chicken! read more
