Located conveniently close to my hotel, mere blocks, Big Buns came highly recommended by my hotel concierge to give a try. So I took a stroll to the miniature restaurant and was glad I did! Inside its intimate, air-conditioned space, they offer both table and booth seating and a miniature bar that sells a small variety of beers and spirits as well as an assortment of desserts. I wasn't necessarily hungry (yet), so I only ordered a peanut butter protein milkshake; I asked if chocolate could also be added to it, and was happily obliged and served it with a smile. Later that evening, I returned for a chicken sandwich that was massive and absolutely delicious. I regret not trying any of their signature burgers... but the name, alone, will forever call to a hungry, ever-comical character such as myself! read more

Big Buns - Burgers Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

Bad burgers...the bun was quite dry and got super soggy, causing everything to fall apart. The patty was dry and lukewarm despite eating it immediately after receiving my order. The flavors were alright (I got the Collaboration Burger and a side of the aioli). I liked the bacon jam, but the rest of the ingredients were low-quality. I also got a side of fries, where they skimped on the quantity because it was practically the size of one McDonald's kids meal fries. It tasted stale, too. I was not satisfied with my meal and wish the ingredients tasted fresh. I won't be returning and do not recommend this establishment. read more

Summary- I craved a burger for about a week. I had many choices, I came here. It was fantastic. Okay here's the deal. I've been dieting all year. I needed to diet to lose weight for reasons that don't matter to this review. I came here to enjoy a burger I allow myself every three months. It was friggen fantastic. They offer many different meat selections and you can build your own burger. The fries are excellent because again they offer many choices on flavors including Tater tots (which I think is a good idea because not everyone likes French fries. I ordered a burger, canna fries and a soda. I ended up finishing one burger and ordering another because you only live once and three months is a long period of time. My wife ordered th impossible burger meat and tater tots and a soda and she enjoyed her meal as well. The dining room is small but comfortable. The service is good because the are very customer focused and friendly and they even have small activities like coloring pages for the kids. Also they have a patio that allows for some casual seating outside. Parking is plentiful read more

I have mixed reviews about this place. I had the Collaboration Burger, side of fries, and a water cup which came up to $17. My co-worker got the Hot & Hefe burger, fries, fountain drink and a beer that came up over $30. I enjoyed the Collaboration burger. It was cooked to medium as requested. The sweetness of the pickled onion gave it a really nice contrast. By the 3rd bite in, unfortunately, the bottom bun had soaked in all the juices from the patty and toppings, thus causing it to be soggy and unsupportive. My co-workers Hot and Hefe burger was ordered to medium, however, the center was still rare. The side of fries while looks like a good amount in photos, both my coworker and I agreed the portion of fries could be bigger. I did like this Fairfax location had an outdoor patio seating area with shades and not much cars driving by, so it was quiet. Should I return here, I think I would only get a burger next time. 3.5 overall. read more

I've been here twice and they have gotten my order wrong on both occasions. The service is great. The frontline gnetlemen at the front counter were great on both visits. The ambiance and atmosphere is cool, modern and welcoming. The food, I'm just not 100% certain since they have gotten it wrong both times I've decided to come here, and it's not cheap! First time, I ordered a burger well done and when it arrived it was totally pink inside. The second time, I asked for some of the fixings on the side, food to go. When I got home it was not on the side and it was all mixed on the burger. Will I give them a 3rd try? I'm just not so sure. read more

Grabbed a tasty burger at Big Buns in Fairfax. There is plenty of parking in this strip center. The restaurant has an outside seating area as well as a some tables inside. The individual taking orders was very accommodating and took the time to check on ingredients for a dairy allergy in our party. We had one speciality burger-Pepper corn Steakhouse. The burger is stacked high with Gruyère, Fried Onion Straws, Sautéed Mushrooms, Lettuce, Tomato and Tellicherry Peppercorn Mayo. This burger was outstanding. Another order the special Blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich and thought it was a little spicy for her but enjoyed it. Lastly a create your own burger was order and devoured. Everyone was very satisfied and we will be back to have burgers and try the shakes which look very good. read more

Having been to several Big Buns around the area, this one was marginal really. First, we went in and the place was empty- no one at the counter or even in back it seemed. But it turned out the manager/cashier was just sitting down at a table working on his laptop- he was friendly enough but it was a little weird. The food was decent, consistent with the other locations but a little more lacking in flavor honestly. The place could have also been cleaner, especially the bathrooms. The outdoor area is nice though. read more

Nothing like a great burger and fries on this cold, windy and rainy day!!! Service was great and you can either order in person, on the easy-to-use kiosk, the QR code, and online. In the middle of summer, my wife wanted a classic burgers, fries and milkshakes style meal (though we don't ever actually want a milkshake). We settled on Big Buns and it did not disappoint. Powerhouse corner with Andy's and Compass right next door, we never really considered coming to BBs. We made our own burgers, though they have lots of pre-arranged options to choose from. The biggest standout is that they offer both a classic vegetarian burger and Impossible, which is perfect for us. They also had tots and a selection of Maine Root sodas. We got all the things and enjoyed them outside on their patio. Really kind service, resto was surprisingly empty so I hope they stay in business. Only negative was the price - almost $50 for two burgers, fries and one drink. We'll come back though. read more

Stumbled upon this place around lunch time. Looks promising and we will return. Decent sized portions. Many churro milkshake tasted like it had a chocolate base. My Mexican burger was okay, needed more chips for texture and salt pepper in the meat.Extremely bland. The soda from tap was yummy. Had blueberry. Service was good also. Bathrooms clean. So I would return. But I'm bringing my salt pepper and hot sauce . read more

So I had held off eating at this place for a while. I decided to give it a try this evening, and found it to be very dissapointing. I ordered a burger cooked medium, Cajun chicken nuggets and fries, along with a milkshake. The order was placed online at their site and picked up about fifteen minutes later. The burger was very undercooked, with the middle being basically raw. I'm not squeamish about eating rare or even raw beef, but I don't want my burger cooked like that. The fries were soft and soggy, but at least were seasoned ok with salt. The Cajun chicken nuggets were meh, pretty salty and had a strange aftertaste, I assume from their brining or breading process. They were supposed to come with pickle chips, but they were missing from my order. The milkshake was fine, nothing special, but I think it was the best part of the meal. This is supposed to be a premium burger joint, and they certainly charge premium prices, but I have to say that it just didn't please me anywhere close enough to consider giving them another try. There are better burger places nearby and they'll continue to get my business. read more

Great service and food! Definitely recommend, Luke was great at his job! Very attentive and efficient!

Amazing Angus Beef Burgers! Explored the Fairfax restaurant, the outfit had a very casual vibe with courteous staff. Besides the popular classic burgers, they are serving various designer beef burgers. I really loved the PEPPERCORN STEAKHOUSE Burger! It's Angus Beef patty with Gruyère, Fried Onion Straws, Sautéed Mushrooms, Lettuce, Tomato, Tellicherry Peppercorn Mayo sauce ! The Angus Beef served here is Halal. Fortunate to meet Alex BB's COO, who provided more insights to the various restaurants they are operating. Requested him to introduce halal chicken too in Fairfax restaurant! read more

Big Buns - Peppercorn Steakhouse Burger - Burgers Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

It's been a while since we went to a Big Buns and we were craving a burger so we made the drive to this location. It was our first time here too. It's located where the Amazon Fresh is. Despite that, the parking lot had plenty of spots. The location itself isn't too big, a few tables inside and also a good amount outside. We ordered two bundles, one Anniversary and one Collaboration. We swapped out the fries with the Parmesan Truffle Fries and the Jammin' Sprouts. Their fountain drinks are pretty solid as well as the juices. The flavors and toppings of the burgers were as good as we remembered.. One of the issues we had was we were asked what temp we wanted for the burgers and we asked for medium and medium rare for each but both came out medium well to well. Not the end of the world because the burgers tasted great. The biggest issue was the up charge on the parmesan truffle fries and what I got. For an extra $5.50(!) just for a small sprinkle of cheese (no truffle) is a bad deal. You can see in the pictures but the parmesan truffle fries are $9.50 alone and it is such a small portion for that. Kind of disappointing with the up charge and what we received but still a solid burger and decent drinks. Service was friendly though and was not an issue. read more

My friend and I ordered the "Burger Bundle" @ $16.99. Nice sized burger, cooked to order with fresh veggies and cheddar. Fries are thin but good while hot so eat in if you can. Awesome burgers and ambiance. Very tasty just a little on the pricy side. Not an everyday grab a burger kind of place. Still will come back.

The burgers were delicious. No other place for burgers than Big Buns. My wife likes that they offer gluten free buns. Aside from the burgers, the toppings were the cherry on top. My fav is pepper jack cheese, Sautéed mushrooms and onions. My only go to place for burgers. I know it cost more, but it is so worth it. read more

Cute space & quick service for a burger joint. I will say that my bottom burger bun was super soggy, likely due to the tomato. However, I liked that there were lots of options for the burger fix ins & those that don't want a burger or want to be more health conscious. The burger was also halal which I thought was pretty nice & they have plenty of healthy choices as well. Would come again. read more

"We are young"...you ever see that meme song going around on instagram where they make fun of millennial restaurants? Well this is your epitome of millennial restaurants with their high stools for chairs, hipster theme, and their over priced food. Decent food but come on who else is tired of the "Al la carte" menu? $6 fries. I remember once upon a time when burgers came with a drink and a side for an affordable price. Big Buns is essence of a restaurant and vibe that should've been left in the 2010s. read more

Okay I gotta update this. I come here more than I should I have to it's close to work. And previously the buns and sandwich construction has been a major issue. The buns have always been soggy ate here 5 times and they were. I left a review and noticed an immediate change in the bun quality. 2 times since no soggy buns but the assembly is still weak. But a change has been noticed in the skewer in the burger to maintain structure. Good job cheeks keep it up! read more

This review is split into two parts (to explain my score) Food: - 4*. My only issues are that they don't ask for rarity, and a medium done burger can only so good. The other issue I have is that the lettuce is diced. This causes the burger to have an unstable base as they fall out (similar to how the lettuce pours out of a Big Mac, sauce and all!). I had a classic burger and it was tasty otherwise. Service: - I was looking over the menu, thinking about what I wanted, when I saw the combo deal. Burger + fries + soda for $17. I was hungry, so I asked if it was only the make-a-burger that qualified or if the specialty burgers counted too. He said all but two (the $13 and $16 burgers; makes sense) - So I ordered a make-your-own burger anyways. Paid up, and noticed as I went to pay that I was charged for Sauteed Onions. That was weird, it was a free topping. I didn't really mind, so I was going to tell the cashier that they need to update the menu (there are other premium ingredients, maybe this got missed?) - My burger came and I started picking out of it ... the raw onions. Now I'm annoyed. I already cleaned my hands as the lettuce and ketchup fell out and into my hands, exposing red onion underneath! Not only was I uncharged for it, I didn't even get what I asked! - I talked to the cashier about the up charge (not the wrong ingredient at first). He explained to me that sautéed mushrooms weren't pictured on the burger combo, so it's extra. Let's review: If I had ordered a more expensive specialty burger as part of this combo, I wouldn't have been up charged. If I had just ordered the make-a-burger, I wouldn't have been up charged. But because I ordered a combo and didn't squint hard enough to see that mushrooms were not in the picture, I got up charged. I hope you can see now that, I may try Big Buns again in the future, but this one is permanently banned. read more

I'm writing this review after trying Big Buns Vienna branch, and the newest location in Fairfax. I tried the Classic burger, the Hot and Hefe, and the Shirlington Hot Nashville chicken sandwich. This is not your typical run-of-the-mill fast food burger joint. For the beef burgers, this place makes them exclusively from angus beef which makes for a totally elevated burger experience. I ordered mine medium and they were SO juicy and flavorful. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich (Shirlington) caught me by complete surprise. I didn't expect a burger place to sell such flavorful and truly hot chicken sandwich. It's not for the faint hearted, though. Order your hot sauce on the side and add it to taste if you cant take the heat. But don't sleep on this one. It tastes way better than at specialized hot chicken restaurants. I took away one star because the lower part of the bun gets very soggy and starts to disintegrate by the time you reach home. I would choose dine-in over takeaway for that reason. I hope they work on sourcing better quality buns or figure out a way for their buns not to get too soggy and ruin the nearly-perfect burger experience. Also, their fries portions are small compared to the price. Nevertheless, I'm definitely coming back for more flavorful burgers and hot chicken! read more

Came here for lunch for the first time and it was pretty slow which is surprising because the burger was delicious and the fries were crispy and fresh. It's a really cool spot that kind of reminds me of a place you'd see in Cali or in some beach town. It's a little pricey but the quality was great so it makes it worth it in my opinion. This wouldn't be my regular go to burger spot just because of the price but I would come here to treat myself every so often. read more

good service, consistently big portions. Food was great! The environment was great. The dining area is a bit small but it's still enough!

Yet another chain fighting for your burger money. Was in the area to pick up car and was hungry so l went in. Small and cramped with some seating available. The sandwich was excellent! Worth the money. Cooked to order unlike some other chains cooks only well done. The bun was good. The only complaint was l also got a chocolate shake. Which was anything but.
