I love smash burgers and finally tried Char'd at the Tysons Galleria mall. The burger itself was good, but wish there was a bit more mayard reaction for a crust on the patty. That said, the burger tasted very good. The duck fat fries were also good, but I was expecting a bit more crunch and flavor from the duck fat. The bun is really good and tastes home made. Overall, this is a top quality burger. I love that it is grass fed. The ingredients used here are top notch and it shows. I would definitely come back again. read more

The duck fat that they advertise they cook their food was noticeable especially in the fries. The taste and smell were strong in the fries but no so much in the burger. Overall the food was great! Not gonna lie, very solid burger! It was smashed and a decent size too. My only complaint is that it was too greasy. My whole hand was drenched in grease. Flavor-wise it was excellent. The burger was delicious, the sauce was delicious, the patties melted in my mouth and all in all this filled my soul with love and joy. Char'd is located in a busy food court. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and delightfully messy. Always get the double. Save $1 by adding the Jalapeno element for free on the modification page (instead of paying for the spicy burger up front). The fries are fresh cut and flavorful - and keep their heat due to sufficient thickness. If In-N-Out fries piss you off (they piss me off because they are tasteless, too thin, and get cold quick) you'll LOVE the Char'd fries. Slightly annoying location - on the escalator-accessed 3rd floor of a mall that tries too hard to be fancy (Tysons Galleria) - but at least there's tons of free parking when you arrive. read more

I've heard good things about Char'd, so I finally decided to try it for lunch. The Tysons location is inside Tysons Galleria on Level 3. You place your order on a tablet, then wait for a text and number call, quick and easy. I ordered the original char'd w/extra pickles. The burger itself is a good size, the patties are on the thinner side (smash burger). It was juicy and fresh off the grill, however it could've used a bit more seasoning. For what they charge, my expectations were high. The food came out hot and fresh, which I appreciated. The fries were thick-cut, crispy, and good. Yummmm!!! Finally got to check Char'd out. They were always a food truck and weren't in my area during convenient times. I'm so glad they opened a spot in Galleria and now I can go whenever. I will say sometimes they don't allow online ordering during specific time windows which is kind of annoying. But also pick up is better because by the time your uber eats driver delivers, the burgers are cold and that's whack. Anyways, the burgers are really good!! I love me a tasty smash burger. And their mambo wings are amazing!!! I see they do specials sometimes for fries and wings. They keep it interesting and exciting. Ordering is interesting, it's completely done via kiosk, as there's no one working a "front counter" to order from. Our food was promptly made, came out piping hot & fresh too. But the kiosk asks for a tip at the end - COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!! No one gets a "tip" for doing their job!!!! If the owner of this place wants his staff to get paid more, they need to pay them more, it's not my job to do that! Especially when it costs nearly $50 for two simple meals of two burgers, two fries, and two drinks - nothing more!! So, they might be way over-priced, but they definitely make an amazing burger! Their spicy dip, which seems to be a jalapeño or serrano pureed and added to a sour cream type sauce - was amazing and spicy too!! Their burgers had the perfect smashed burger texture and taste... Slightly crisp on the outside, but soft and tender inside - excellent! The buns were great, so were the toppings. Their duck fat fries were also nice & crispy and pretty tasty as well. Overall - we REALLY ENJOYED the food! But the price is easily 25% too high and then to ask for a tip when there's no interaction with emlpoyees aside from getting our meal is simply ridiculous and part of what's wrong with society and "tipping culture" these days. We stopped by Char'd while shopping in Galleria and really glad we did. The burgers are halal here so my wife was really excited to try it. I ordered the double original Char'd and she got the double hot Char'd. The size of the burgers were decent but the double patty is almost needed in my opinion to have a full meal. This place advertises using duck fat a lot so I was expecting a flavor profile I've never had before. Unfortunately, the burger just tasted like a normal burger but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. For the money though, I was expecting something more unique. That said, it is Tyson's Galleria where everything is priced higher. The hot Char'd is actually better in my opinion as they layer the patties with a jalapeño spread. I don't want to use the word sauce because it is a thicker texture. Lastly, we got the honey sriracha wings which I believe fell flat and the reason I did not give this place a 5 star review. They were neither spicy, nor had a unique lime/citrus taste. They actually tasted like your ordinary bar wing served with a side of ranch. Would I eat here again? It is new halal burger place started as a food truck turned into a stall in Tyson's Galleria in its fancy 3rd floor food court. 1. Self service: you wait and order on the machine. 2. Tip is optional since you don't get table service just like McDonald's. 3. Burger: good, the sauce reminds me of Big Mac sauce. It is nothing that special though. The Fries however, is amazing and their original sauce is unique and I can't recall anything similar. Highly recommend. 4. There's no dedicated table for their customers so you just have to find a seat and it is hard. However, it is Galleria, very beautiful interior, so it is a joy to eat there. Char'd is absolutely one of my favorite spots for burgers and fries! Once I find a great burger spot, I become a repeater of the same order (why mess up a good thing, right?). Char'd is located in Tyson's Galleria AND they have a mobile food truck that is located across town in several locations throughout the week. They post their food truck scheduled locations via IG, so it's super easy to track. I've been able to try both, the location and food truck, and I will say the location is my favorite because it's guaranteed to be super hot. When I ordered off the truck, it was surely delivered hot, it was just me driving to my location before eating that failed me :-) The burgers are super fresh and although there are options, it is not overwhelming. In-person, ordering is simply completed via the touch screen and the wait time was not long at all. During some evenings and weekends, the line at the Galleria can be long (so get there early). From the truck, I was able to order and pay online. They will text you and let you know your order was received as well as when your order is ready to be picked up. At both locations, the staff was super nice and made each visit a breeze. P.S. I did not mean to leave out the fries...they were hot and fresh and you receive more than enough to go with your burger. read more

I saw some stuff about Char'd on social media, so I was intrigued when I saw it at the Tyson's Galleria. I ordered the Char'd single and the garlic soy wings (4piece) via the kiosk, and I received a receipt with an order number as well. Service was quick, I also received a notification on my phone when my order was ready for pickup. On the tray they provided the burger, the wings, a ranch dipping sauce, napkins and a nice little wipe (I assume for the wings). Pricing wise.... These wings are really expensive. They're more expensive than Korean fried chicken wings too. 4 pieces for $9.99!!! I'm honestly not sure what the flavor profile they were going for was, but it tasted more similar to like a sweet thai chili + bbq sauce instead of a garlic soy flavor. I also wasn't really sure what to do with the ranch sauce that they provided, so I dipped a wing in it and it was not good.... LOL I then tried the burger, a lot of people were telling me it was really good!!! I thought it was just okay, honestly. The flavor is decent, but nothing stands out to make me want to pay like $13 for this burger. There's a sauce there too, but it's similar to many burger spots' sauces such as In-N-Out and the Big Mac sauce. Since I really didn't know what to do with this extra ranch sauce, I tried dipping a bit of the burger in this too. No dice! Would I come back here in the future? Maybe if I was desperate and craving a burger and stranded at this mall. There are plenty of other options though, since it is a fairly crowded mall with an updated food court. I got the OG Char'd burger in the double patty with everything on it and a side of fries. Fries are nothing special. The burger patty is grass-fed beef and has a strong meaty taste that is "charred". There is a sauce on this burger that ties it all together. Without the sauce, I don't believe the burger would taste the same. It is quite plain and needs the sauce or else it would be bland. We have been to their store front at Tysons Galleria once and their food truck has visited our neighborhood twice. Their highlight is definitely the burger. It's a good, juicy burger. My daughter had their grilled cheese twice and loved it. If your kids aren't into burgers and meat, their grilled cheese is a good alternative. I am not a fan of their wings. The smash burger that really raised the bar for me was a wagyu-based place called Smash n' Bite out in LA--which I'm mentioning here because they're not competing given they're on opposite coasts--and they've got a 4x4 wagyu smash burger with toppings for $15. Char'd is good, don't get me wrong, but a 2x2 (simple char'd, so no toppings aside from cheese, with an extra patty and extra cheese) is $15, and we're in a cheaper CoL market. Service was fine, nothing to write home about, but I also didn't request anything I'd expect them to go above and beyond with. And the vibes are sufficiently modern (are vibes and ambiance interchangeable? I'm using them as such) and befitting where they've homed themselves in the galleria. It's a good burger. I paid $15, I'm somewhat full. But for $15 I could've eaten one thing all day, and it'd be a 4x4 wagyu smash burger in LA. So I expect they might be a bit stretched on their underlying costs. 4 stars for the burger. Minus one for the Tysons Galleria price penalty.
