Chicken Salad with chicken, dill pickle chips and their special sauce
    Mary C.

Well, I stumbled upon this little chicken place tucked around the end of a shopping mall here in Springield, VA. I am definitely a fan of spicy chicken. This restaurant specializes in Nashville Hot Chicken. I wanted to keep calories down by not doing a sandwich. They offer a delicious salad topped with plenty of chicken on a bed of tangy coleslaw and pickles and their special sauce. It was amazing! This is a surefire winner. Their chicken was flavorful and fresh. The spicy chicken was offset by the sweet and tangy slaw. Loving dill pickles, you had me at chicken matched with pickles. The lady at the register was very helpful with their menu! She genuinely cared. The restaurant was very very clean including the chairs, tables, counter seating and the restroom. I love an I there hot chicken establishment but their salad isn't even close. I want this one again and again. Wish it was closer!

The chicken slider was okay, but i ended up with food poisoning about 3hrs after eating it. Be cautious when ordering from this place!

When most new Nashville Hot places douse the chicken with sauce, Crimson Coward uses a dry rub which is vastly superior!

The crimson sauce is similar to the Raising Canes sauce but with a little bit more of a kick.

There was one other patron eating in. I placed a take-away order of half coward, I.e., 6 wings. I ordered them naked. Don't judge! I don't fry foods at home. They had different genres of music playing. Careless Whisper was playing during my visit. I love that song! They cook to order so that's always a good sign. The chicken came out a little over done and the skin wasn't crispy. I doused it with Old Bay and Bleu Cheese dipping sauce. Not worth a return visit.

And he says we have to eat here for best experience! He is right. Ordering is easy on the kiosk or an employee can help take your order up front. A large menu board shows you the options. We got two 3 tender meal combo (fries & drink) and a slaw. It took about 10 minutes to get our food but it's made to order. They kitchen/cooking/prep area is open so you can see them make it! Breading and frying the chicken & fries. Hot and fresh. They also check the temp of tenders for doneness. They dip the chicken, then they dust it. Comes with their Crimson sauce as well as ranch. The chicken was hot & juicy. The hot was spicy. Fries were hot and crispy. Ranch was good. Sauce was good. Only negatives were the pickles could have been thicker cut and fresher as well as the slaw. Slaw was vinegar based and wilted. Crunch & crispiness wasn't present. Food was on par with Daves and Canes. Maybe better in quality and price. I wished slaw came with meal. They played country music over the speakers so that's a big plus for me. Is it as good as Dave's or Cane's? My son says yes. I say maybe?

This was part of our 2nd to last date, but if I had been smart the last date with her should've happened in February after our 2nd date. But on a positive was going to Glory Days, which I was familiar with in Alexandria (which sadly closed in May 2025), between Bailey's Crossroads & Annandale, near BWI, & a couple of others I had been. She was a teacher, and she had gotten a $10 off at Glory Days for some thank you. She told me we would use the $10 off, and told me that I would pay for our meals. I got the wings, which were delicious as always. Service was good at this location. Afterward, we went to a Farm near Herndon, which was pretty cool, but it rained heavily at the end. The best part of that day was getting a movie in at AMC Georgetown DC (even though parking is pain there) on my way home to MD.

That said things are tough these days and it's hard to justify eating out and paying more for meals and drinks. We purchase gift cards at Costco ($100 worth for $80) and combine that with the weekly specials they have traditionally offered. In short, we made it affordable enough to justify going on a tight budget. The Good The staff are great (John at the bar has been there for 20+ years), the food is good and the prices have usually been reasonable. We are big fans of the wings at Glory Days and the $6.99 for 6 after 9 PM made this our GoTo appetizer. I've had many meals at the Burke location after working late nights or after working out the gym and I've enjoyed the consistency and devotion the staff put into the experience. Sheldon often has my beer ready by the time I get a seat at the bar. Glory Days is a sponsor for some of the local public baseball fields and a big draw for teams at the many local schools. Add to all of this a good location, TONS of SCREENS and a real sense of neighborhood commitment and you can see why customers show so much loyalty. The NOT so Good Recently the policies and the menus have been changing. Prices have gone up, discounts have gone down or been completely eliminated and some items are no longer offered. I've heard that this is partially due to a change in ownership, apparently the new management team wants to go after more money and expect customers to just absorb the cost. I guess they took a page from Amazon's "Screw over the Prime members" playbook. Reasonable prices and policies have been replaced with higher prices and less options. Don't care for fries? You'll pay an upcharge to swap them out for broccoli or rice. Goodbye $6.99 wings and hello $11.99 for the same 6 bone-in wings. No more half price burgers on Monday, Taco Tuesdays and etc. Instead they have a "Trifecta" and the "Merica Burger". Needless to say I'm not impressed. Moving On These changes have prompted my wife and I to explore local alternatives despite our loyalty to the staff at the Burke location. We still hold a few gift cards and we'll be back to use them but we're not buying any more and we're checking out other restaurants. Tonight, it is Oh George! over by GMU. Time will tell if Glory Days returns to it's former Glory or goes down the profit driven death spiral.

The broth is light but savory, and it comes packed with several large, well-seasoned dumplings that are clearly the star of the show. The dumplings are tender and filled with a good mix of meat and vegetables. It also had some nice additions like sliced scallions and egg ribbons that gave it that authentic home-cooked feel. It's a perfect option if you want something a bit lighter or healthier than the fried chicken, especially on a cold day. My only small gripe is that I wish it came with a side of rice to make it even more filling, but overall, it's a solid 4/5. Definitely a hidden gem on their menu. Today was an exception to the usual experience. Edamame were cooked to mush, tteokbokki (should be firm and spongey) was the consistency of overcooked spaghetti, and the smallest saddest wings I've ever seen in my life- I'm not exaggerating when I say I had three wings half the size of what I'd expect from Buffalo Wild Wings. This location is in need of some serious quality control. In the future I'd much rather drive a little further to another location than me disappointed like this again. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the wings and since they were so tiny and pathetic my family finished them on me before I could finish this review.
