Some reviews I've seen have called this place one of the best fried chicken in MD. Dunno about that, but the 4 pieces (leg, wing, thigh and 1 tender) were damn good. Great skin and crunch and very juicy chicken. But it was the sides that were even better. Had Mac and Cheese and Slaw. Slaw was perfect and the portion big enough that I took the mac home as I couldn't even start it while dining there. Gobbled the mac as a midnight snack later and, even having to nuke it warm again, the mac and cheese was flavorful with cheesy goodness. I came here on a Sunday night for the first time. The interior was the typical restaurant where you order at the counter to dine-in or carry out. The service was good and the menu selection was great. Unfortunately they only had wings and tenders. To be honest the waffle was good but nothing special. The food is good, but if you are getting a carryout order check every single thing while still there - learn from my mistakes. I forgot why I don't come here as often: because I'm so tired of getting home and realizing we are missing something from our order. Today was no exception. I would say it's not a good value as you rarely get what you pay for. The staff is pleasant. The homeless hanging out isn't great. The good IS good though. So be prepared to check everything. Whenever we pop over to Virginia we have to stop by Uncle C's Chicken & Waffles. The restaurant is always clean and offer plenty of sitting if you decide to eat there. The service is quick and friendly. We always order the fried chicken which comes with a delicious mini cornbread muffin and creamed spinach, but this time we decided to add the fried shrimp and garden salad. I went to this establishment with my elderly mother on 10/4/2026 at around 8:22 p.m and I was waited on at 8:24 p.m. The young lady that took my order her name was Gabi and her customer service was very good, and after Gabi took my order I explained that my mother and I was eating there at the restaurant but I would like a bag for my food to go because it was a lot of food that we were not going to be able to finish at the restaurant. Gabi responded that whenever My mother and I was finished our food we could come back up and get a bag from her. The keyword was bag meaning one suitable enough to fit all of the food into the bag. Once my mother and I finished our food, I went back up to the counter to ask a young lady for a bag. She was African-American with a very nasty attitude. She handed me a plastic bag. I asked her can I get the paper bag with the handles she then explained to me that The paper bags were for online orders. I explained to her that I needed that bag to fit all of the food instead of having several plastic bags. This young lady went back-and-forth with me for almost 1 minute afterwards she then handed me the paper bag my mother asked what was going on and why all of this for one bag I then turned around why this young lady was laughing and joking with her coworker stating making the comment what her fat ass needs is to lose weight. I turned around. I asked the young lady what was her name she ignored me, walked back-and-forth then turned around and said I'm not telling you my name. I said it's OK. You're the only African-American that's in the store so I can describe you. I then took a picture of this young lady so that I could also follow up with the manager. I asked for a manager that night and I was denied what was told to me was there is no manager not realizing until the next day, which is today10/5/2026 That the young lady that went to the back, whose name is Gabi was the manager I was told from several employees that there was no manager there. I went to the restaurant today to complain and the only thing that was stated to me was oh I'm so sorry about that. I had to offer my information for some type of resolution because the only thing the manager, Wendy stated to me was oh I'm sorry. I stated that I was gonna put this online so the people can know and never have this experience Wendy stated to me please don't do that and oh I'm sorry. Ahhh I'm really disappointed. My partner and I really wanted to like Uncle C's Chicken and Waffles on Richmond Highway. We've eaten here before (probably back in 2023) and were hoping to have another good experience. Unfortunately, this time around was a total letdown. We ordered chicken and waffles with mac and cheese. The mac was way too greasy and overly cheesy, to the point where there was barely any actual macaroni. The deal breaker was that my partner found a hair fried into the chicken, not on it, but actually cooked into the batter. We almost threw up. That was enough for us to toss everything. For three pieces of chicken and one waffle, my total was $13.99, which honestly feels a bit high for what you get. The cool part is that you can mix and match between wings, dark meat, or chicken tenders. The service was fairly quick since the chicken is already pre-cooked and waiting -- the only thing made fresh is the waffle. The waffle itself was good soft, fluffy, and flavorful though I personally like mine a bit more crispy. They provide the usual condiments (hot sauce, honey mustard, ketchup, syrup), but I brought my own 100% pure maple syrup. The chicken was solid fried hard, nicely seasoned, not too much breading, and with a good crunch. It tastes like your typical "chicken box" style fried chicken, which isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but it definitely hits the spot when you're craving that combo. Still, $14 for three pieces of chicken and a waffle (no drink included) feels steep. The restaurant does have other soul food-style sides like yams, mac and cheese, and greens. It's not clear if the place is Black-owned ,the staff working there weren't ,but it gives that carryout, chicken box type of vibe. There's plenty of seating inside, and while they ask if you're dining in or taking out, everything is served in a bag ,so you just grab it and sit down if you want. Today was a borderline miss, but I did go against my rule of not going to places an hour before closing. I had to wait a little longer than I liked... there were people who came after me who left before me. All I ordered was a five-piece wing with cornbread. By the time they called my number, they only had four wings left. So she gave me one tinder, and one half of a tinder ‍. The food was lukewarm. Candied yams-4.5/5 pretty sweet, but really good. May be a little too sweet for some people. Cornbread-4/5 good! Moist, small size, only 89 cents a piece. Banana pudding- 1/5 too much real banana was in it. I love banana pudding but this tasted like it was made for banana lovers with extra bananas which I don't personally care for. Overall, food was fairly good! We visited on Sunday around 1pm and it was pretty packed. After waiting a few minutes for a food, a table became ready! There is ample parking in a parking lot. Hadn't been here for a while (almost two years) as the place seemed to be headed in the wrong direction in several areas. I went here as a last resort since I had been unsuccessful in securing a meal at a nearby KFC (another chicken place I had mostly avoided in recent years). Me and my friends had never been here but it always looks crowded so we wanted to see what the hype was about. The line was not long at All. I got the 3 piece fried chicken with Mac and cheese and candied yams plus sweet tea. I requested 3 drum sticks. We got our food to go even though there was plenty of seating space. The sides come in little aluminum pans and all the food was so hot when we took it back. My drunk taste buds thought I was in heaven. The sweet tea was too sweet so I added a bunch of ice but still yummy. The fried chicken is salty but I like it that way, my bestfriend was a little iffy on it. It was so crispy and hot I loved it. The yams were so sweet and the Mac and cheese has a great flavor. I don't think any fast food place has better Mac and cheese. The little corn bread was not good to me. There is so much food you will have enough for left overs. It reheats well the next day. I wish I would have just shared the sides because the flavor is so rich. Made the hike out here because I heard this is the new halal chicken spot. Was pleasantly surprised to see you can pay a little more to get whatever type of chicken pieces you want. We did the bucket and got all thighs, which in my opinion is superior meat. The chicken seasoning is very flavorful and reminds me a little of Church's Chicken. The meat was tender and fresh, nothing dry or reheated here. Alongside we got cornbread which was all around strange. They looked like mini muffins and were bite sized. They weren't terrible but the sides really brought down the meal. Also missing is a signature sauce. We are living in the age of specialty sauces and there was nothing special to dip your chicken in. Next to donuts, chicken and waffles is an absolute staple for me. So when I saw uncle C's chicken and waffles I knew I couldn't pass up giving this place a try while I was in town. I am so insanely glad I did too, because they did not disappoint. Parking was good, they have their own lot - so plenty of space. I decided to order to-go since I was staying across the street at the hotel and went with their three piece chicken plus waffle. For the three pieces of chicken, you get to choose which three pieces you want between a wing, a leg a thigh and a chicken tender. I went with one leg one thigh and one wing. I also heard through the reviews that their cornbread is amazing, so I added that on the side to give a try too. Bonus it's only $.89 to add on. The staff was very friendly, taking my order and the interior look like a pretty standard fast food type of restaurant. It was very clean and nice on the inside. I will say that. The wait time for the food was pretty standard considering I was expecting them to make my waffle fresh And based off of the time I waited I expected that that's exactly what happened. Once my food was ready, they packed it up for me, and also threw in one each of their two sauces plus some hot sauce to go grabbed my bag, hopped in the car and headed back to my room Once back to the room with my food, I checked everything and it held up very nicely. I did only need to go maybe 2-3 minutes away, but still I forgot to ask for the butter on the side of the waffle so I expected that to be completely melted by the time I got back and was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't. Everything held nice in their to-go containers, while still keeping the waffle crispy and good. Now for the taste - The chicken was absolutely phenomenal perfectly fried and amazing taste. The two sides that they give you one of them tastes similar to a Chick-fil-A sauce that almost all chicken places seem to have now and the second was a barbecue sauce. Both were absolutely great! The hot sauce that they give you is like a Texas Pete hot sauce pretty standard for fried chicken and was good usually my go to as well. The waffle was yummy very good flavor and even with the powdered sugar on top of it didn't taste too sweet. The butter was good pretty basic and standard butter. Nothing to go review along on its own other than it's just a standard good butter. Overall, I would honestly give this place five star rating for great chicken and a great waffle.
