We came to Caphe on the recommendation of some friends, but left disappointed. Some of the good at Caphe: the crispy roll is indeed excellent and the vermicelli fine. However, the young male staff is rather rude and indifferent. First, off there is a Wi-Fi available "Caphe Guest" (see photo). I asked one staffer what the password was, because Caphe is in one of those sections of Old Town where wireless access, like Verizon, is notoriously poor. The guy gave me some garbled answer and walked away. Alrighty, so I asked another staffer and he said he didn't know what the password was and walked away. That leads up to my order of chicken pho. I asked for no cilantro and that same waiter repeated my request for no cilantro. But when the pho was brought to my table, the green in the pho looked suspiciously like cilantro. I asked the waiter about it. He looked at the pho and said it was not cilantro. I took a sip and quickly determined there was cilantro in the pho. When I tried to get my server's attention, as he was standing in back of the counter, he saw me and haughtily turned away. So, I took the pho up to counter and asked that my order be remade. To Caphe's credit, Caphe did correctly remake my order.. But the pho broth was brown and had an odd canned flavor. It just wasn't very good. read more

On the side a solid imperial rolls and side of grilled pork were an amazing accompaniment. I will for sure be back as this is such an unassuming neighborhood joint. They should be proud! read more

Coming from Houston, I had pretty high standards for pho, but Caphe Banh Mi pleasantly surprised me. The restaurant itself is small but cute and honestly gives off a bit of a New York vibe. There's also plenty of outdoor seating, which was perfect for us. I came with a group of 14 and we were seated outside right away. Luckily the weather was amazing, so it made for a really nice dining experience. The scenery was aesthetic and the service was impeccable. I ordered a customized pho bowl with beef slices, tripe, and tendon. The broth tasted authentic and flavorful. As someone used to Houston pho, I was actually impressed. I also didn't leave feeling super thirsty afterward, which usually tells me the broth isn't loaded with MSG. Their milk tea boba was pretty good too. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot to tourists or anyone looking for a solid bowl of pho. read more

This is my first negative restaurant review because I felt this experience was important to share. I ordered the Summer Rolls and the Vegan Imperial Rolls. Instead, I received Summer Rolls containing shrimp and Imperial Rolls containing meat. I don't eat meat, and I'm allergic to shellfish, so this wasn't simply an incorrect order--it was a food safety issue. I called the restaurant to explain the mistake. After spending about 15 minutes on the phone while they located my ticket and reviewed the order, I was told the Vegan Imperial Rolls had been entered incorrectly, but there was nothing they could do because the kitchen had prepared what was on the ticket. I understand that mistakes happen. What I can't understand is refusing to resolve the situation. There was no offer to replace the food, provide a refund, or otherwise make things right. If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, I would be very cautious. read more

Came here around 1 o clock on a weekday and nearly every table was occupied. This was a good sign, a very good sign that the food is good. My friend and I had the summer rolls, with the peanut satay dipping sauce which is the absolute best part. We both had the vermicelli bun, which is not a "bun" how you would think in American terms, but a very thin rice noodle served with your choice of meat. I did the steak which was juicy and tender. My friend enjoyed hers with the chicken. I will say if you're not familiar with some cultural aspects of this type of dining. it can be a little overwhelming. There was no real "friendliness" to the service, we weren't asked if we had any questions, if we had been there before, etc. The service was pretty much, what do you want to order *food*, and then "here's the check". Rainy winter Saturday makes the perfect day to get pho. Apparently everyone else has the same idea lol. There is seating inside but heads up tables are close together and I wouldn't recommend this for large groups. This is more of a fast casual dining experience, get in get out and get going. Service is quick to keep the tables moving and it's popular in the neighborhood as there were many pick up orders coming in while I dined. Another amazing meal. I had my go-to lemongrass Banh Mi. Typical excellent service. It was such a beautiful February. On warmer days, I enjoy their sidewalk seating. The Banh Mi are excellent. The bread is always so, so crunchy. It was packed full of flavor. Sloppy Viet Bo Bam (spicy red curry ground beef) and the Phoenix Ga (Lemongrass Chicken) are my favorites. Came on a Friday night and got lucky to get a table right away, however by the time we left there was a line of people waiting outside to get seated. The space itself is not very big, but they make good use of all the tables. The filet mignon pho was good and the filet mignon meat was delicious and tender, however I wish the broth was a little more flavorful. My boyfriend and I split the grilled pork banh mi which was also good. While the food is good, the prices are definitely on the higher side for pho. I love coming here. It's one of the only Vietnamese places outside of Arlington that's actually so good and reminds me of the places in Philly I'm used to.
