Really great food and a unique experience. Felt like a legit Jewish deli in old town. A lot of great fresh options but the service was a tad slow as others have mentioned. Inside was decent size but half of the store is a mini mart of kosher odds and ends. No eating inside due to codes but many tables outside on nice day. My salt bagel was pretty good, crispy where it matters and chewy too--but the sad pitiful lone end slice of tomato sorta ruined it. So I went in and offered to pay for some more tomato but the counter clerk, although she went and got me some, seemed irked I asked for more. Wait time was 25 minutes for a bagel and a breakfast sandwich. But they had a board on the wall that kept people up to date with the wait time. Bagel was pretty good! I enjoyed the strawberry cream cheese. As someone who loves a great breakfast sandwich to start the day off right, I can't believe it's been so long and I haven't done a post of this awesome bagel spot! When I say I love chewish deli I truly mean it! Any and every friend or family member that visits, it is a must to take them here. Recently went on a morning bike ride with a friend and to finish off the ride we stopped by Chewish Deli. It is an awesome little, local bagel shop that offers a variety of bagel options and subsequent breakfast sandwiches as well. They do offer coffee/tea and some juices as well. Though I have never been for lunch, I do know they sell lunch food as well which. The service is awesome, for such high traffic/volume the staff is always very friendly and helpful with answering questions! The only downside side, is they don't really have much seating so you likely won't be able to eat there(so that's why I am giving it 4 stars), but they have recently put out a few chairs in the front. But still very limited seating overall. Good news. however, it looks like they are expanding into the other half of the building, so I am hoping it goes from a pick up spot to a place you can also sit down and enjoy the delicious bagels and breakfast that they offer! read more

I decided to check out this bagel spot in Old Town Alexandria, and I wasn't disappointed. It was easy to find and there's street parking available, which was perfect for a Sunday morning. The wait wasn't long at all, and I loved that they let you know when your food will be ready. The ambiance is nice. It's small, there is seating outside. I grabbed an everything bagel with jalapeño cheese spread and turkey (plus lettuce) and a white chocolate coffee. Let me just say the bagel was amazing! Perfectly chewy and fresh, and the spread added a nice kick. The coffee was okay, but it wasn't anything special. They don't have whipped cream or foams, so if you like sweeter, more decadent coffee, this might not be for you. But if you're there for the bagels, you're in for a treat! read more

Despite a busy crowd, I was in and out with my bagel in less than 15 minutes. I can't ever turn down an everything bagel, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. There's only a handful of bangle shops with great bagels in the DMV. This is one of them. As I write this, yelp has 4.3 stars ... absolutely crazy, this spot is an easy winner, and fantastic bagels. As a NJ native, I am picky about bagels and breakfast sandwiches. I was excited to try this place after seeing many positive reviews. I tried to order online and the system was offline, even though they were open. I sent the store a text and they said they turned it off because they had a lot of orders to catch up on. They did text me back once the online ordering was back up and running, which I appreciated. I ordered an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with bacon and a cold brew coffee. When I arrived (9am on a Saturday) they were pretty backed up. It's a small place so the walk ins place their order and then they wait outside and their order is brought out to them when ready. Since I had placed my order online, it was ready when I got there. I would suggest ordering online if it is available! The walk in orders were still moving pretty fast even though they seemed to be short staffed. I was pretty underwhelmed with my bagel sandwich. The bagel itself was a nice texture but it was small, and there wasn't much meat on it at all. The bacon was very thin and flimsy (kinda like the microwave bacon you see at fast food spots), and there were only 2 pieces. The staff were super nice even though they were backed up. I would give them another try, but I would most likely try just a bagel with Shmear. read more

This bagel spot CHEW(ed) and left no crumbs! Chewish has a great selection of bagels both the classic flavors and also seasonal. I couldn't resist trying their espresso cream cheese, which has a nice espresso flavor with a hint of sweetness. The texture was a bit grainy (I think they put actual ground espresso beans in it) which I really liked but might not be to everyone's liking. The everything bagel was fresh and, per the namesake, was chewy. I also got a latte, which was pretty decent (which for a bagel place is all I really want). There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly and the food came out quick as well. One of my biggest complaints is that there is not seating inside or outside, which appears to be due to permit requirements. So don't expect to sit! However, they are walking distance to the waterfront which is a great alternative. Overall, the bagel was so tasty but I wish it was bigger!! Compared to a Brooklyn bagel it was ~2/3 the size (meaning I was still hungry afterwards). I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Can't spell delicious without DELI! read more
