$9.99 for lunch. This included wing/breast or leg/thigh + rice and beans + salad + 3 sauces + pita bread + drink. This deal is great. It tasted good. My child loved it.

Bait and Switch! Came in for a happy hour draft and they don't even have a Keg!
Toni W.

We walked into this place on a Saturday because of this sign. This was the sign on the tabletop, but this exact sign was on the window. We go in at 4 on a Saturday (happy hour times) and not only did they not have a Keg, but all they had in the cooler were like 5 Stella bottled beer. They also didn't honor a happy hour price for those beers. This is a classic bait and switch gimmick and by the time we were in there ordering our food and find out no happy hours drafts...we were too late to back out. The wings were good and the staff were nice but this false advertising has got to go!

Village Bowl

Just looking at the stars I thought this would be a yummy quick place for lunch but the food was terrible! I ordered the village bowl #4 which includes gyro meat and pulled chicken along with rice, chick peas lettuce tomato and feta. First off the gyro meat and pulled chicken pieces were overcooked little pieces of meat. No flavor to them at all. The chickpeas were in some type of red sauce that tasted like a bad tomato sauce. Could not eat. Rice was overcooked and everything came all mixed together which, yes I understand is the point of a bowl but the res sauce over the chickpeas was on everything. I ate about a 1/4 and threw the rest away. The only really good thing was the pita bread I got on the side.

Arrived around 1:00 and was greeted by a nice gentleman. He quickly took my order. Food was ready in about five minutes. Chicken had good flavor and the sides were good. Will return next time I'm in the area at lunch time.

I wanted to like this place so bad because I just moved into the neighborhood next to it Service was good. I ordered at the counter and food was really quick. I paid around $10 for a chicken leg/thigh, rice, beans, pita bread, and a drink. Pretty good deal in my opinion The food was just missing seasoning for me. I was so excited to dive in but the visual didn't match the taste. The beans were lacking salt, rice was fine, and chicken was fine. It was all just fine. Was hoping for more flavor. I'll give it another shot and try something else next time.

Gyro 1. Traditional Gyro Platter

I went here for the first time today after reading the reviews on yelp and google. I ordered using their website and the food was ready in 15 minutes! We ordered the lamb gyro and the gyro bowl, both were great! The lamb gyro and bowl were both filled with tons of meat and ingredients which made it very filling. The sides of the fried and cucumber salad were also good additions. When we went to pick it up the employee who greeted me was so pleasant and helpful. I will definitely be back again soon!

My girlfriend and I wanted a more wholesome lunch today and this restaurant definitely has ma y healthy food options. We've di ed-out here a couple of times and mhave really enjoyed it. The first time that we came here was many years ago when they were in a other part of the shopping center. I particularly like the 1/4 pound breast & wing chicken platter. It comes with a slice of pita bread, a fountain drink, and two sides. Today I got the macaroni & cheese and rice & beans for the sides. It really is a lot of food for less than $11.50. My girlfriend ordered the gyro platter which also came with two sides and a fountain drink. Our orders were prepared in less than five minutes, and soon enough we found a table near the front of the restaurant. The same Owner still works here and he took our orders and it was a good experience, like always!

Love the rooster decor. Small clean friendly atmosphere. They let my kids taste sauces in advance. Service was quick and staff double checked the particulars of our order... addressing kids directly. Food was hot and kids gobbled down bbq wings and a chicken burrito. Paper towels and hot sauce already on the table.... bonus! ... and they gave take home trays without us asking cuz they saw we were gonna need them...

This was the first time I've been, so I just got the lunch special to go. The chicken was so juicy (I'm always wary of dry chicken). Additionally, the rice and beans were very tasty and I don't usually like beans! There was also salsa verde and hummus (not pictured) on the side. Additionally, the lunch special came with a soda. This was also a TON of food for only $5!!! Will definitely have to make a trip back!

Payment went through next day for food that was never received

One of my regular local spots. My fave picks are steak quesadilla or the three piece chicken meal.

Yesterday we needed to grab a quick lunch and she suggested we go there. The entrance to the parking lot is a mess, but the sandwiches are always first rate. They even have Coke in the original glass bottles without the corn syrup! My goal is to eat everything on the menu. The food is always fresh with organic ingredients wherever possible. The service is great, and the space is always sparkling clean. I'll always look here first whenever possible. My partner finally said to me " I don't know why we old go anywhere else, this place is easily the best."

Our bank showed that the transaction went through, but the owner insisted that he had not received the payment. He asked us to run the card again, suggesting that if we were charged twice, perhaps our bank would credit one of the charges. We called our bank, and the bank confirmed that we had already been charged and told us they could not simply reverse the transaction. At that point, we decided not to take our food and to leave. Because the owner was claiming he hadn't received our payment, I specifically asked him to simply write on a piece of paper that we were leaving without receiving our order. I wanted documentation showing that we had not received any food in case we needed to dispute the charge. He refused to put that in writing. He repeatedly told us that this had never happened in his 20 years in business, even though this restaurant is under new ownership. When we continued trying to resolve it, he told us it wasn't his problem, told us to call the police, and refused to work with us. We ultimately disputed the charge with our bank because we were charged approximately $30 and received no food. What makes this situation even more upsetting is that, according to the information we subsequently received through our dispute, the merchant responded by claiming that we DID receive the food. We did not.

My spud that did come was delicious, toasted, and full of flavor. The sandwich was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet with the crunch of the chips on it. My boyfriend had introduced me to a McAlister's in Indiana, so when I'd heard we were getting one right here in Burke (yes, I'm aware of the GMU one - I hate the Braddock road traffic light, what can I say), I swung by. This place is always hoppin' but they work that line quickly. I've been here - like, what - once a week since they opened earlier this year? I think my ordered was messed up once? (if you could hear my voice you'd understand why - no one can hear me... darn these vocal chords). So that's like a RECORD - even Chick-Fil-A has messed it up more than McAllies (and that's sayin' a lot - Chick is ALWAYS on the ball). Want my recs - current feeling the Turkey BLT. Don't sleep on the French Dip sammie (their most popular). I don't like brownies, but their brookies have me in a CHOKE HOLD.

Capo Deli

Capo Deli

10.4 mi•Old Town Alexandria

Capo Italian Deli - Old Town Alexandria…read more I reviewed our new Old Town neighbor - Capo Italian Deli - early in 2026. Time for an update. The deli is outstanding. Taking up a tiny footprint on the N. Washington Avenue thoroughfare, a few seconds from King Street, the deli delivers both hot and cold deli entrees, soft drinks, and salads. There's maybe half a dozen tables inside and a couple of tables outside, but from what I have seen thus far, most of the trade is with carry-out service, drawing from the excellent reputation Capo brought with it as it arrived in Old Town (the restaurant has siblings in Shaw NW, and Western Market in the District, Tyson's Corner in Vienna, VA, Annapolis and Potomac, MD). Fresh Philly rolls for those seeking a traditional hero sandwich, with go-to seasonings and all of the essential protein groups. My favorite is a large half roast beef half turkey with lettuce, tomato, and mayo (I skip the Italian dressing, which is part of the default, and I skip the cheese). I can and have made this $18 sandwich last three meals (so I ask them to cut the sandwich into three pieces), and the ingredients stay fresh for the next 24 hours. The last time I did this the sandwich fed me from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., as I served as an election officer at one of Alexandria's polling places. Neat, trim, and completely satisfying. Just a point of concern: given its location, the opportunity to double-park while picking up an order seems to be just too tempting. This location, however, cannot over the long term sustain double-parkers. The deli is about 100 feet from the intersection of King Street and N. Washington Street. There is a dedicated lane for cars seeking to park adjacent to the deli. And then there are two northbound lanes on N. Washington Street. That's it - just two lanes serving one of the busiest intersections in Old Town. If a delivery-service car pulls up alongside one of the parked cars, all hell will break loose by drivers who suddenly find a delivery vehicle double-parking in front of Capo, leaving but one northbound lane open for however long it takes for the delivery agent to gather the order and beat it out of there. This happens with remarkable frequency, starting at about 11 a.m. and running throughout the day. That's not going to make good neighbors of Capo's nearby shops. Alexandria Parking has its work cut out for it, but here the rule prohibiting double-parking has to be enforced - it's both a safety issue and an issue of common courtesy. Doesn't matter if you think you'll just be in and out of the deli in seconds. We know it doesn't work that way, not always, and here - not even often. More often than not the double-parker will be creating a traffic hazard just by parking alongside a parked car in front of the deli. Please, don't do this.

The staff is super. Susanne outstanding!…read more Our latest sandwich favorite is the BLT, bacon, spring mix, and genuinely tasty tomatoes. It comes with avocado and mayo, neither of which we like, and I ordered without them. Unfortunately we received avocado. I brought them back and explained the mix-up. Susanne, one of the servers, took them and came to our table with fresh sandwiches. I bit into mine and tasted onion and it had the mayo herb spread on it. I debated throwing it away for about 30 seconds but brought it back and Susanne (susie) who had replaced the first sandwiches cheerfully said "I've got you" and replaced it with a new one, no mayo, no avocado, no attitude, and I really was so grateful and of course enjoyed every bite. My sister loves the chocolate chip cookie and when they realized they were out Susanne intervened and said a new batch was coming and would be ready in 20 minutes. So my sister and I ate and by the time we were finished I went to the counter and Susanne brought out the still warm cookie. My sister is handicapped and it's one of the quicker, brighter restaurants as I can open the door closer to the handicapped parking for her which saves her steps she would need to reach the main entrance. She gets a booth and i order the food and drinks. I'm given a number to display on the table so we can have the drinks and chat and the server brings the food. We get to be leisurely since it's never been crowded when we go, usually in the afternoon. Someone always checks to see how we're doing and clear any dishes sometimes even getting refills for us. Kudos to one of our favorite restaurants. Thank you Susanne for your great service! They have a handicapped stall in the restroom and my sister is able to go alone on her walker. There are two or three handicapped spots located in front of a connected store with an accessible curb and the sidewalk leads to McAlisters, no street crossing involved.
