This is a fantastic place providing a much-needed service -- treats for those with allergies. My son is allergic to diary, nuts, and soy. His girlfriend is restricted to a gluten free diet. It was a relief to find an allergy friendly bakery in the dmv area. My daughter has egg allergies and there is not a whole lot of cake options in the store. I ordered the dark chocolate raspberry cake online in advance. The owner was nice and welcoming, she actually pointed out to the staff that they mixed up the dark chocolate cake with the premium cake, so they fixed it for me on the spot which was appreciated. They also have cookies and cupcakes available, all allergy friendly. The dessert tasted delicious. Where do I start? I loved Out of the Bubble before I knew they did custom orders. They offer gluten free and vegan options that are always delicious! After getting engaged, I stopped into the shop and spoke to the owner, TaMeisha, about wedding cakes. She was extremely friendly and told me to start thinking of what I wanted my cake to look like and to schedule a tasting. She emailed me so many tasty options and we selected 4 flavors. When we went to the shop to do the tasting, she had everything prepared and we had so much fun! TaMeisha has a great personality and truly cares about her customers. I'm strictly gluten free, and I completely trust this bakery even though they bake gluten there as well. This is my favorite bakery for a gluten-free treat in the northern Virginia area. I adore the shortbread and seasonal gingerbread cookies! Heck, I never even had shortbread or gingerbread that good when I ate gluten over 20 years ago. I love the chocolate espresso cupcakes. I tried a pandan flavored cupcake - think matcha as a cupcake flavor. The vegan gluten-free lemon blueberry is amazing. They even put a doll of blueberry preserves in the middle. I ordered a cake for my daughter's first birthday party. She has an egg and dairy allergy, and we have good friends who have gluten sensitivity, so I wanted to accommodate everybody who was going to be celebrating with us. The cake was very nice upon first look. Well made, and it didn't look rushed. I was very pleased with that. The icing was okay. A little too sweet for me personally, but that's just a preference thing. The cake itself was dry, like a good amount of the gluten free cakes I've had in the past. It's unfortunate because I was looking forward to showing the non-gluten sensitive guests that gluten free doesn't have to mean sacrificing texture and flavor, but that just wasn't the case, sadly. The filling between the cake layers was the saving grace and was absolutely delicious. I would be willing to give this bakery another go in the future, and not get the gluten free cake. I'm hoping the gluten cake is more moist and pleasant to eat. One more thing to note - if you get a cake with fresh fruit on top and don't ent up eating it in one day, take the fresh fruit off! Our strawberries on top got moldy within 24 hours and we had to throw the cake out. Luckily most of it had been eaten, but it was still a bummer. So all in all, I was disappointed, however, not willing to give up completely. I'm elated to find out there's an allergy-sensitive bakery in the neighborhood. You used to have to travel to DC for fresh gluten free (GF) and dairy free (DF) baked goods. Not anymore! The fact that it's a Black-woman owned business is just the icing on top. The bakery is tucked away in the quiet side of a busy shopping center. It is wonderfully lit up and decorated with local art. Clean and cute. They have a huge selection of allergy sensitive baked goods: cookies, cupcakes, donuts and other pastries. They are labeled GF or DF. (I'm not sure about nut-free, I'd check the website but am sure they are accommodating). The staff was incredibly nice and personal. You can tell this establishment cares about the people they serve! I ordered the GF white chocolate raspberry muffin and it did not disappoint. It was moist and fresh and not too sweet. I can't wait to try more. They accept contactless payment as well. The Lemon Raspberry cupcake was very fluffy, and you can tell it was made with real lemon zest and not just flavoring. The top icing was whipped, and in the middle of the cupcake there is a raspberry preserve that also has a bit of lemon and is very delicious. Overall the cupcake itself isn't super sweet, which was a nice surprise to the both of us, as we usually find cupcakes to be overly sweet. The carrot cake is dense but fluffy at the same time, with visible pieces of carrot inside and a nice aftertaste of ginger. We also both found it super cute that the carrot cupcakes have a little carrot on the top made out of icing! The chai cupcake is the one both of us were a little worried about. Neither of us are gluten-free, but I have definitely tried my fair share of gluten-free baked goods and haven't really found a lot of alternatives that are truly delicious. This chai cupcake was definitely worth it and honestly, other than being SLIGHTLY denser than the wheat cupcakes, we couldn't tell much of a difference. I was super happy to find a bakery that is allergy friendly for kids. I didn't placed an order in time to do a customized birthday cake but their regular cakes were available to order the week of. I ordered a cake topper on Amazon and it worked out just fine. The raspberry lemon cake flavor was great but the cake was on the denser side.
