Let's start with the red velvet cake, so good. Moist, flavorful, and honestly better than I expected. Red velvet is one of those cakes that's easy to mess up, but they executed it perfectly. What impressed me even more is that we bought it right before closing, didn't eat it immediately, and it still tasted amazing hours later even after being refrigerated. The mocha cake was well-made, soft, spongy, and clearly high quality, but it just wasn't for me. It has a strong coffee flavor, so if you're a coffee person, you'll probably love it. For me, it was about a 6/10. Now the real star: the apple pastry. This was everything. Perfectly flaky, lightly crisp on the outside, and filled with fresh, flavorful apples. We've been going here for awhile now, the pastries are great, however, staff are not helpful at all. As we were checking out, my wife asks what is the difference between two loaves of bread on the shelf, and staff member just says, I don't know. She could've asked someone who does? We also got a pastry with fruits on it and wanted to preserve its appearance as the staff member was about to shove it into a small bag then stuff it into a carrying bag. Had an appointment in the area and had a gift from PB for a free slice cake for my birthday, yes, thank you. It's ~2:20 pm and there are numerous filled tables with a steady stream of customers with take-away orders. The bistro is open concept but you can still have individual conversations without being disturbed by other seated customers. Several customers are busy working on their laptops. My only issue is three things, if you bring home a box full of pastries, the boxes don't do a good job of keeping the pastries fresh, so make sure to eat them within 24 hours. The other issue is why don't I ever see anything with pistachio on the menu, can it truly be European without pistachio fillings or flavors? Today was my very first time at this new location, and the only reason why I came was because it's a holiday and I'm off from work. I'm pretty familiar with their pastries and awesome mini pizzas, and since it was still early when I got here, I purchased a Pastry Frank and a pumpkin pie latte. The pastry Frank has only a sausage that's wrapped in a croissant style roll. The were able to heat it up for me right on the spot, and I thought that was great service. For those that may be unaware, this is a Korean bakery that is French-inspired so don't be surprised if you see flavors like match, sweet potato, and red bean. Paris Baguette is a nice and welcome addition to this area of Springfield. I have been to 4 locations in Northern VA. My minor complaint about the Springfield store is that it does not have as wide a variety of pastries as the Alexandria (Kenmore Ave) location. The pastries and cakes they do have are consistent in quality as are the beverages. My favorite is the sweet potato pastry. Also, I have been to the Springfield store both before 8am and after 8am and regardless of what time I came in they were not fully stocked. It does seem like there are less staff in the kitchen vs the Alexandria location and maybe that contributes to the smaller variety of pastries and empty spots. Springfield,VA - Visited this new shop on a Sunday morning just after they opened. I was impressed by the smart decor including tile floor, cozy seating and mural reflecting local landmarks. Would be a cute place for a casual date! I was also impressed by the glass display cases featuring many wonderful looking pastries ranging from savory pigs in a blanket to cream filled donuts. This is a serve yourself operation where you grab a tray and tongs then pick what you like. Each item is labeled though in some cases I had to squint a bit at the prices. Most were around $4 which is a little higher priced than some similar shops. Additionally they have various cafe drinks available and scrumptious looking cakes both by the slice and whole. My eyes feasted on a triple chocolate football cake. Once I selected all my goodies the friendly counter person bagged them up. Shared them with the handsome husband at home who was impressed by the taste and freshness. If you are a frequent visitor, the app is recommended - seems like there is a free pastry involved somehow per the store signage. My one recommendation would be to not arrive so close to opening as they were still in the midst of stocking the baked goods. They also sell cakes by the slice, which is perfect if you're craving a little something without committing to a full cake. Thanksgiving Crepe Cake This vanilla crepe cake was a standout. While the edges were slightly dry, the cake itself was light, airy, and only subtly sweet--definitely not an overly sugary dessert. If you like something light and delicate, I'd recommend giving this a try. Turkey Sandwich A combination of turkey, arugula, mozzarella, and onion jam. Definitely ask them to heat it up--the onion jam really comes to life when warmed, and the sandwich as a whole feels much less dry. Unfortunately, modifications like adding tomato aren't allowed, but heating it up made it satisfying as is. Price For a filling sandwich and a slice of cake, I spent about $19 before tip. It felt like a decent value given the quality and portion sizes. Overall, this is a great spot for a grab-and-go lunch or to satisfy a sweet tooth with their impressive array of desserts. I was excited for the opening of this location and it has exceeded my expectations. I've visited in the late afternoon / early evening a few times and the interiors are beautiful, clean, and inviting. As for the baked goods, there was plenty of variety. They offer some of the best donuts I've ever had -- my favorite is the coffee cronut, but I also enjoy the cream-filled ones. Everything I've tried tasted fresh and elevated. I would always grab something when I was in Fairfax or Tysons - at the other Paris Baguettes but I would never go specifically to purchase baked good there - those locations were simply too out of the way. With Tous Les Jour in Annandale becoming more packed than ever, it is nice to have another comparable bakery nearby - one that offers French and Korean pastries and breads. We went to pick out first purchase from PB this week for a brunch we were hosting at home. Purchased both croissant donuts and two loaves of the milk bread - which has been a big fave of mine. All were good! I can't remember exactly both flavors of the cronuts - one was a coffee cream and the other was as more fruity with a custard interior. Both flavors were delightful. It is pricey, but for quality and variety it's worth it. The cake slices are smaller compared to their competitors and priced similarly. The rainbow layered cake really caught our attention and will have to try next time. We got a strawberry mochi donut that was good, but only came in two flavor options. I went yesterday afternoon to the Paris Baguette in Springfield for the first time hoping to buy some fresh baguettes. Well, there was not a baguette in sight, so I asked at the counter if they had any baguettes, and they answered no. I was then instructed to come back early the next morning. I politely commented that they are open until 9:00 P.M. and "Baguette" is in their name, they should have baguettes available all day. I visited Paris, France on a couple of occasions and I know the French are famous for their "Napoleon" and "Eclair" pastries. Well again, they had neither! I can't believe this establishment markets itself as a French patisserie.
