    Thai iced teas

Stumbled across Thai Shop on a visit to Backlick Shopping Plaza out of sheer curiosity. The hubby and I both vacationed in Thailand as teenagers and wanted to see if we'd recognized any snacks or foods we would have enjoyed in the past. There is a small frozen foods section with buns, breads, and even grilled bananas and shelves of other products such as sauces, coconut milk and jars of red and green curries. There were also packages of dried fish jerky. A fellow shopper bought a bag and was kind enough to open it and share a piece with us so we could try it! The fish was tough to bite and chew as it was jerky, but it was not greasy and the bones were soft/ easily chewable. Although we did not purchase our own bag of fish jerky, we did buy two Thai tea drinks and a tapioca soy milk drink. There were straws in front of the cashier so we were able to enjoy our drinks shortly after purchase. The cashier was very kind and answered our questions patiently. I am sure the store also has a credit card minimum, but the cashier allowed us to use the card on our purchase of less than $4! The store was neatly organized and easy to navigate.

I found this place by accident this morning and thought it was a restaurant. It's not a restaurant but they do have pre-packed fresh food and dessert so, I grabbed a few boxes along with frozen rice and banana wrapped in banana leaf, beef & pork jerky and sweet rice w/ custard. I walked back to my car and first thing I tasted was beef jerky it was tasty and tender as I did not expect that. I then tasted everything I bought after I got home. They were so good. I do not know the name of the fresh food I picked but the rice was kinda red -ish with slightly salty and it came with other stuff in a box; raw green bean, thin sliced egg, sweet pork, fresh chilies, shallots and green mango. It was super good and I definitely wanna go back there. The place was cleaned and neat, and the price wise was reasonable! I will be heading back there again next week.

I purchased two avocados at Fresh World on 03/06/26 at 08:44 PM, as shown on my receipt. From the…read moreoutside they looked fine, but when I cut them open the next morning (03/07/26 around 11:00 AM) both of them were completely spoiled inside -- dark, moldy, and clearly inedible. What makes this situation even more ironic is the message printed on the store's bag: "Always FRESH!". Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. This isn't really about the money. The amount is small. The issue is that customers should not be sold produce that is already rotten inside. If a store promotes "Always Fresh," there should be proper quality control to ensure the products on the shelf actually meet that promise. I hope someone from Fresh World's management or marketing team reaches out to address this situation, offer the appropriate apology, and refund the purchase. Regardless of the price, customers should not have to pay for food that is already spoiled. I'm sharing this so other shoppers are aware and can check their produce carefully when buying from this store.

Some good items TERRIBLE customer service…read more I have been coming to the store for years and today was the first time I came to return product they falsely advertised in the store. Came to the store with receipt and the product - which I bought 3 of and was not cheap- and Jumona (sp?), a rep at customer service desk quickly stated this product is not returnable due to various store policies. Next time, if there is one, be careful what you buy.

Harris Teeter - My partial (partial being the key word) grocery order....which reminds me why I don't shop at Harris Teeter!

I'm not sure if Harris Teeter looks at Yelp for reviews, but I think my experience deserves one…read more Living in this automated world, there are limited places at a grocery store where we need human service. The deli counter is definitely one of them. I went to Harris Teeter today looking for a different shopping experience than what I do every single week. Sadly,I didn't get it. Their produce department is absolutely beautiful. All of their shelves are well stalked and organized and staff in and around the deli area is beyond my expectation. The problem is with all that staff in the deli area , there's not a single person that wants to get behind that counter and cut your deli meats. Today I waited nine minutes with all manner of deli staff walking around me, and actually ignoring me from behind the deli counter. (I'll add that its not the first time) They may have figured out that I'm a Yelp reviewer, because the "manager" came over and offered herself to help me with my deli order - which by this time was too little too late. By comparison, I went to the meat and fish counter, where the minute I walked up, somebody was right there offering assistance, telling me to ask for them if I decided that I needed any help. Far cry from being ignored just a few feet away. Suggest cutting the dead weight in the deli. Staffing looks great on paper, but not in practice. There are 3 places at a grocery store where you actually need human help, deli, meat counter and cashier. If you want 66% then this is the store for you.

The Hilltop Wegman's has a few things going for it…read more I can tell you that they have a very good wine section, even including a few organic (no added sulfites) vinos. Wegman's also has excellent meat and seafood sections. The bakery is impressive. And one thing they have improved since we first shopped here five years ago is that they have toned down the blasting music that used to make us want to get fast out of Wegman's. The hot foods section used to be pretty good, but now it has shriveled down to next to nothing, The take-home pre-prepared meals, while very good in quality, are exorbitant. Plan on spending $16-$18 for a simple meal, which is as much as you would pay in a restaurant for the same stuff. While they have an abundance of self-check stations, Wegman's doesn't let you get cash back, like you can at Safeway. The self-check stations can be persnickety. Today, I encountered one machine claiming I had put an unchecked item in the bagging item before I had even started scanning my stuff. Yikes! But what I really don't like is how Wegman's does bagging. The Virginia legislature in 2022 passed a law allowing grocery stores to collect from customers 5¢ for each plastic bag used. Wegman's has completely done away with plastic bags, yet Wegman's but takes advantage of that law to charge 5¢ for each paper bag. The icing on the cake is their paper sacks do not even have handles.

I can finally say ... this is my favorite grocery store !!…read more Starting with pharmacy, prices are unbeatable in comparison to all pharmacies near. Staff is always friendly and has often given me "emergency refills " of my dog's controlled medications when I've forgotten to call in advance.
