The parking situation, bring your Advil and patience. At least you can get the headache reliever here. Used to be a big fan of Giant. Do I still like them? Sure. Due to inflation and competition from Aldi and Lidl, they don't hold a candle to their glory years. Thank you capitalism. This is a very clean store. Absolutely wonderful employees. Yet to be clear, their deals aren't what they used to be. Even accounting for inflation, I'm not all that impressed. They definitely have every item you're looking for. The self checkouts save time. Great produce and fruit areas, but sales seem more difficult to find. read more

This Giant is large, and has a nice variety of goods. It's very convenient and well laid out.

I know it's not exactly Giants fault but every time I go there, someone is asking for money in the parking lot or soliciting at the door. The last time, a lady and her son did not want my money but wanted me to take them inside for a full shopping trip. This is the closest grocer to me, but I often choose to go elsewhere. read more

Good service . The air conditioning was very nice on a hot summers day . The interior of the store was very nice and well lit .

This giant is pretty decent. Just be prepared to bag your own groceries and get charged for a bag fee. I thought the cashier was going to bad it. She just asked me how many bags did I need lol. read more

They are constantly out of basic necessities and the staff are unhelpful in the extreme. The latest was a lack of food coloring. The person I asked for help finding some at the customer service desk walked away and went to get a coffee instead. It's bad when it's faster and easier to order non-fresh items off Amazon. read more

What? Review a grocery store? YES! This new mega Giant deserves its place in the Yelp books! Gone is the outdated and dark Giant off Old Keene Mill and Commerce. Right next to my favorite Trader Hoes in the old Kmart building is the new mega Giant. The store has 2 very big entrances. There's a large standalone Starbucks inside the grocery store. It's super bright so you can actually see the produce and the food labels. The bread area is in a wide open space with a super selection. There are a bunch of cashiers and most are open. The aisles are very wide! I've been twice and both times the staff was helpful. Parking is tough because the lot is shared with the always popular Trader Joe's. read more

The relocation to the bigger space was smart but holy cow I end up spending more time walking around looking at things than I used to at their previous location. Everything is always well stocked and clean. Produce is usually always fresh. I haven't tried out their hot food section yet, so I can't judge that much Can't really complain about a clean and well stocked grocery store lol read more

I came here for the second time this week in search of Greek pasta salad from the deli. They were completely out of it a couple of days ago, but today I was in luck and there was an entire container of it on display. I ordered a half pound of that and a half pound of Cole slaw from the friendly employee who was working behind the counter. I would consider this location to be the best location in all of the DC area. The deli itself is probably three times larger than the one that they had previously, and their salad bar has expanded significantly. It was very tempting as I walked past it, but at $9.00 per pound I took a pass on that today. I also noticed that they have taken the cue from another fancy grocery store, because they now offer pizza and other prepared foods. The store is clean with everything in its place. I like shopping here! read more

Giant Food - Deli options - Grocery Near Me - Springfield, Virginia

I actually came to the new location this morning to pickup one of my fa orite lunch items. The Greek pasta salad from the deli is my absolute favorite thing that they have in the store. It's actually made fresh daily in the store. While I was here I also decided to get a gallon of whole milk, some bagels to bring to work, and six oranges. I've been to this store a couple of times since they opened which was last year I think, and I am really impressed about how much larger, cleaner, and modern this store is compared to their old location. At this time of the morning there were more employees working in the store than actual customers. At least two of the employees asked me if I needed help with anything. While I was roaming the isles I decided to also get some Florida's Natural orange juice. I could have kept shopping but I am already running late for work as it is. I will try to make it back here this weekend! read more

This is a fantastic Giant!! Moved into previous Kmart about November 2020 It is huge, beautiful, well stocked with tremendous variety of products. Staff is very nice and helpful This store is destined to be GIANT's Flagship read more

i wanted to give a big shout out and thumb up to the brand new location that opened up six months ago. This place is at least 35% larger than their previous location within the same plaza. I came in here this Friday night and there were not that many shoppers inside which I guess is normal. My thinking is that most of the shoppers come in during the weekend. While perusing the isles I quickly noticed the increase in prices since the last time I had visited the site store. I know that this is not the fault of the store as everything has increased. I was really hoping to get a salad from the salad bar, but it appears to still be closed down due to the pandemic. Instead I went for Greek pasta salad and a bottle of water. I figured that this would be healthy enough for tonight, and I'll plan on coming back in a few days to take care of some real shopping! read more

Good for bare essentials only - for better shopping go to the Bradlick store!

This is currently one of my closest grocery stores, so I find myself having to use it periodically. If I had better options, I would avoid it completely. Thankfully, Trader Joe's is on the other end of the parking lot. This Giant Food contains standard grocery store inventory. Food Lion is similar to Giant, in terms of product selection and quality. Giant may have slightly larger inventory. This Giant Food location is home to disgruntled employees who have little to no respect for their customers. Management appears to be nonexistent. In my few visits to this Giant, I would approximate my negative interactions with employees to be about 80%. Employees can often be found talking with each other in the aisles, complaining about their work schedules or other employees. There is no sense of professionalism. Prices seem to be about average compared to other grocery stores in the area. Be sure to swipe a "Giant Card" at checkout, or you may pay up to twice the advertised product price. Don't worry though, if you do not have a Giant Card, you can ask to, "use the store card" at checkout and they'll give you the discounted price anyway. The real advantage to having your own Giant Card is the slight savings you sometimes receive at local Shell Gas stations. The produce is usually alright - except for berries. I always inspect the fruit before I take it home, but often still miss moldy berries at this location. Overall, an average grocery store with a horrible staff. It seems they just need some training and managerial / supervision - thankfully fixable issues; if Giant changes out this store's leadership. I recommend utilizing the nearby Costco and Trader Joe's for most of your shopping; use this Giant Food only if there are scrap items still remaining on your shopping list. read more

I stopped in here on 1-16-2021. LOL. Better late than never. This is the new and improved Giant!! Emphasis of "improved." This is quite an upgrade from the previous store. Wider aisles. Bigger selection. Workers who are helpful and available. I'm impressed. A coworker recommended that I give it a try, so I did. Lots of great deals!! It's convenient to other shopping too which makes this kind of a one stop shop. Clean store too. Plenty of buggies. I can see myself coming back again. The Giant grocery store in The Springfield Plaza Location is clean but the food quality is mediocre comparing to other competitors. The quality of the sale food items are not good!! Disappointed with the crab clusters we bought couple of weeks ago that were on sale around $10 or $11 a pond which was a really good sale but there was hardly any meat in the claws nearly all were like that. Overall the the crabs clusters did not have much meat in it!! The folks at the registers didn't know how to bag your food they put things a That are fragile like eggs under something that was heavy!! that's really e racking! they didn't try to take the time to organize items for efficiency and practicality. I have shopped at the Giant Grocery store for over 25 years and noticed the changes in the customer service and food quality over the years. I have shopped at the competitive grocery stores and I'm hoping Giant will turn things around!! read more

I came in for a few items today. I stopped to search for chicken wings but only found one pack I liked (YES I'M PICKY LOL). An employee named Jonathan asked what I needed but said they were out of the ones I was looking for, a few moments later he found me in another aisle and he had a pack of wings he had found in the back. Great example of an employee going above and beyond. Little things like this make a huge difference when you are short on time **SHOUT OUT TO JONATHAN (JONA)** read more

This is my go to giant location. For the most part, The staff are very helpful and friendly. This store is normally well stocked . Yeah, yeah, yeah. This Giant store is relatively clean, reasonably priced, and well stocked. But that's not why I'm writing the review. I'm writing about the new "Scan it" shopping tool that's available at select MD & VA Giant grocery stores (sorry, not available in DC yet). You walk around with a Star Trek like phaser that shoots out laser beams. Alright, maybe thing that you can stun or kill but the it really does scan things as you shop. So what's so cool about this? First, the scanners offer you personalized coupons based on your shopping history (something like $1 off a $2 Lean Pocket box). We know it's personalized because my scanner coupons differed from Cindy's scanner. Second, the scanner keeps a running total on your food purchases and let's you know exactly how much things are (no more dividing 2 for $7 mental math required). And finally, checking out is as simple as returning the scanner to the loading dock and paying with a credit card. Yeah. Who knew you could be a geeky shopper. I'd come back to Giant just to play with the scanner. Next time: dual welding. [Last Visit: October 18, 2009] read more

There is something about this Giant. They seem to be trying to cram too much into too small a space. And it doesn't seem to be laid out quite like most Giant stores, which causes more time when trying to find something. I also have not found the employees to be very friendly or helpful. I prefer the Kingstowne or Hayfield Giant stores to this one. read more

I know I know, lame-o is reviewing another grocery store. Well look, as president of the Grocery Store Fan Club, I spend loads of time in grocery stores, purely for my own enjoyment. Many people travel around visiting other cultures' museums and churches, well, I visit grocery stores. I'm an authority on this. Okay so Giant is on an upswing. 8 months ago anyone in the area (the loudest being my mother) would have complained that every single time you went in there they had moved precisely the one item you needed and you spent hours looking for it. Well, it seems (from the trucks in the parking lot) they have been bought out by Stop n Shop and were undergoing reorganization. Today they have finished moving everything around, but not necessarily for the better. The "all natural" section is waaaaaaaaay down at the end of the store near the pharmacy, meaning you can't just run in and out for your Pirate's Booty or Kashi, you have to fight throught the crowds lining up at the checkout aisles to even glimpse a cheesy poof. But I think Giant's working it out, the aisles are bigger, they have the self-checkout machines and the personal scanners so you don't even need to fight for a checkout aisle spot, and while the old owners were reducing the number of brand name foods in the store (you couldn't even buy Domino Sugar, you HAD to buy the store brand), the new owners are re-expanding the product lines as well as developing the Nature's Promise organic line. This isn't the cheapest grocery store, though currently Giant has comparative display baskets proving they are cheaper than safeway. Well that's fine if you are buying only cheez-its, raisin bran and pringles, but some of us like a green pepper or two and they are more expensive than whole foods. read more

I don't understand how can a grocery store have such disgusting bathrooms. I needed to change my baby and the ladies bathroom had no toilet paper let alone NO SOAP! So, that means the employees here don't wash their hands with soap. Disgusting! I can't even imagine the level of unsanitary conditions from a billion dollar grocery company! read more

Bag people are nice and efficient, they do a good job of keeping the lines to a reasonable wait. Their end caps always make sense But OMG when you walk by the milk and down the aisle with the lunch meat it smells like manure! It's disgusting!!! A few months ago one of their security guys straight up cut in front of my at the self check out. I thought it was a joke at first and he proceeded to buy his sardines for lunch... as I stood there pregnant and holding a gallon of milk and other groceries in my arms... anyway I called corporate and received a call from management a few days later. I never saw him there again, hopefully he got promoted to customer. Positive note they have free fruit for kids while you shop and they never seemed to be understaffed at the registers. read more

This is a well stocked Giant offering plenty of weekly discounts, a pharmacy, and conveniently located in Springfield Plaza. What stands out here is the availability of the new "scan it" feature and the emphasis on self checkout. The new "scan it" feature is basically where you have a price gun that's portable and you can scan all your items in your cart, when you're done you simply give the scan gun to the cashier and pay. Simple. I'm a Springfield local, so I find myself coming to this Giant store a lot whenever I'm in need of things from standard food & desserts to flowers. The great thing is there is a pharmacy inside and the people there are so kind! It's not my main grocery store as some items are over priced, but on average nothing adheres me from visiting every now and then. read more
