I am a fan of AFresh for their convenience and easy to checkout, but this location is a bit different than my main Amazon Fresh store. Location: it is located in a busy shopping center and it is very congested inside and outside. There are so many employees restocking the aisles and blocking you from going past. Didn't get any sense of welcoming vibes or friendliness here. The store has only a handful of the smart carts. The employees stand at the entrance/exit and monitor you for the carts. No grocery store I go to has store employees monitoring you for carts. When I finished shopping and wanted to take the cart to my car to unload, they stopped me as if I am not allowed to do that. There are no cart storage lanes in the parking lot so you have to bring the carts back. I was only in the area so I stopped by, but unlikely to return here. read more

Located at the Festival at Manchester Lakes, Amazon Fresh offers a bakery, hot/cold food, as well as your basic grocery items. I have tried their pizza slices, which were awful, as the crust was just thick and literally tasted like cardboard. While I don't do grocery shopping here, I do like their return process - the staff here are pretty efficient and keep the lines moving. So hit and miss. We have shopped here many times. Often out of stock - especially on items you came to get on sale or just needed essentials. The delivery business seems robust, and they most likely get first pick. Even with prime and coupons, we are leaning away from Fresh now. Location is great- right next to a great bagel place (Manchester), Dunkin Donuts, as well as plenty of other quick eats and restaurants- but that's where the good news stops. Oddly, they were out of a lot of items. The cold bar was severely overpriced. Kingstowne has an (Aldi) for those who are trying to save during these insane inflation times and Safeway and Giant have really stepped there game up in terms of cold bar items. Wegmans is minutes away and has a hot/ cold bar/ salad bar and can make a custom sushi roll for you in minutes. It's too bad because I love picking up a Dunkin coffee and bagel on my way to work at belvoir. If the salad bar at Amazon was better is probably my lunch there too in the morning. read more

Okay I almost didn't do this review because I don't want to mess up a good thing, but I love Amazon Fresh. I've only been a few times but it's so underrated. If you love Amazon, you'll like it here too. I came in to make several Amazon returns and the process was fast and easy. I didn't have to package anything myself and they actually have a well staffed customer service station to help do it for you. There was no line, in fact the whole store was pretty vacant. Pros: Store was clean, neat, well kept, big, and nearly empty. I'm used to bumping into people in every aisle and that just wasn't the case here. I never took my purse out here, I just used my phone and Amazon app. Everything was already pre-loaded down to the card I wanted to use. After my returns they even gave me a free ten dollar off code that I used right there. Bathroom was also clean, had multiple stalls, had seat covers, the option of paper towels or hand dryer. And it had that extra step so you don't have to touch the door handle. It's the details for me. They also have electric charging, although out of network for me so I don't get my discount but it's still an option I'm happy to see, and may try next time. I hope to see many more of these around town. Cons: I'd say not as many options as a traditional grocery store, but there were odd items I haven't seen anywhere else either. So I guess it's a gamble. Amazon Fresh is just the next logical evolution of grocery shopping in the United States. And what I mean by that is for the past 50 years or so, consumers have become increasingly removed from the production (much less the delivery and supply chain) cycle of how food originates from farms and ultimately winds up in grocery store aisles. And when you're ready to pay for your items, there are fewer lanes staffed by people, and more self check-out kiosks for you to bag and pay for your stuff. Once upon a time when America was primarily an agrarian society and a larger percentage of the populace was involved with food production, it was more common to have small local stores where it was likely folks would know the farmer, butcher, or fishmonger who brought their goods to market. And of course, it's nice to wax nostalgic about an idyllic past, but Amazon Fresh represents almost the extreme of a bygone era. Walking into this Amazon Fresh store a few miles from the Franconia Metro station, the place feels almost sterile. Even though there is a cadre of Amazon employees scurrying about their black shirts adorned with the "Amazon Fresh" logo, no one seems particularly happy to be there (very few smiles observed on employees faces), nor were any of the employees eager to engage in any interaction; at least that my was my experience. I was almost run over a few times by this army of Amazon Fresh employees rushing about in the store, since they are focused on quickly assembling orders for pick-up for those time-starved amongst us who rather have other people shop for them. I can only imagine the pressure these workers must face since the task of picking the perfectly ripe avocado, or the best piece of steak, or the freshest loaf of bread has been outsourced via a few clicks on an app. The whole shopping "experience" is designed for convenience and to minimize as much human contact as possible. You can opt for one of the orange colored "traditional" shopping carts and when you're ready, have your items checked out by an ACTUAL LIVE HUMAN - OR - you can use of the high-tech green colored carts which have a variety of sensors which "should" track and keep a running total of items as you place and remove them from your cart. I say "should" keep track, because after logging into the cart using a QR code from my Amazon Mobile app, I perused the aisles of the store and on a few occasions, the sensors kept detected multiple items (such as multiple bags of chips or incorrect amount of produce). The process to modify the amounts on the touch screen on the cart wasn't as intuitive as it should've been and I had to hunt down employees for assistance. This was made all the more frustrating since I spoke with two employees who then had to radio a supervisor for assistance. Not necessarily the seamless easy shopping experience that this place is aiming for. The entire experience at Amazon Fresh wasn't terrible. I had a few Amazon items I needed to return, so instead of driving to the Whole Foods in Springfield, this is a more convenient location. I think it's a bit odd that there is a small area where you can also peruse the latest Kindle and Amazon Fire tablets as well as purchase books if desired, but vertical business integration, right? And because Amazon owns Whole Foods, I did find a few organic items (produce and 365 label items) that were a decent price. But in general, I found most of the items to be as expensive if not more than typical grocery stores like the GIANT (rip-off) and (WAGE)Wegmans. I mean, if I'm doing most of the "work" by using one of these fancy high-tech carts, and bagging my own stuff so as to minimize the need for staff by paying through my Amazon app, shouldn't the groceries be cheaper??? For me, I'll stick with shopping at my Asian grocery stores such as H-Mart, 99 Ranch, or Lotte. Lol) but even with that I don't see that I would come out my way to come shop here. I did like that returns was so easy and my refund came to me quicker than any other place. A 25-minute drive outside of Washington, D.C. is the area's first Amazon Fresh. With a big hype, the store opened in May 2021 with Alexa powered shopping carts and Alexa stations throughout the store to help you find ingredients. Scan a QR code to link to your Amazon Prime account and you're set. And that's the extend of why this store is different than the nearby Safeway or Giant (besides the fact that you can return your Amazon packages here). The rest of the store feels like a grocery store wit produce up front, meats and cheeses in the back, and a side hot bar. Prices are on par with other stores and this one carries Whole Foods products. They also have small shopping carts for kids, which our toddler loved! read more

They forgot some of my order so the driver had to come back out to my house so he thought it was OK to add a tip and the manager actually said someone in my house authorized it but she removed it, she acted as if she didn't know who to believe as if I would lie or anyone in my house would lie about a tip. Unfortunately, we got the salads that were contaminated with listeria and where not warned until after we had already eaten them and experienced symptoms. I go there often to do my groceries. I love how convenient & easy it is to use the dash carts!! They recently started giving out fruits/snack for the kids while we shop around. The store is never crowded-even when I've gone during the holidays. Service is always great, everyone is helpful. Their hot food bar is also flavorful compared to other grocery stores. You won't get the sale items because they won't be in stock by the time you arrive. They'll be in the carts of those smart enough not to go in person because they know they'll be annoyed by the Amazon shoppers who hog the aisles, and group together gossipping. They got rid of the paper coupons in favor of the digital coupons knowing the digital coupons don't always work - so good luck with that. The produce is subpar. The store is full of staffs but they are not there to actively seeking customers to help; instead they are just chilling and talking to each others. You can tell they are not discussing work related stuff. Agreed with others that none of the staff greet the customers. Some even purposely look away. The Customer Experience part really sucks. Employees act like they work at Ritz Carlton and look down on grocery customers. I get that they are very proud of working for Amazon but keeping their heads up when customers pass by is just too much. They seem to have zero/ negative customer obsession, which is the worst in VA/on earth. Sometimes the cart couldn't detect some items which was a pain. Browsing through the store, I could see they didn't have much items to choose from and no good deals. Would I come back? Probably not. Not sure what's with all the negative reviews, but I had a good experience here! Upon walking in, you have the option of either a regular shopping cart, or an Amazon dash cart (pictured). With the dash cart all you need is to scan the QR code with the Amazon app and you're ready to go. The employee came over to help me and was very helpful. With the dash cart, there are built in sensors so all you need to do is drop your items in the cart and it will detect the item and add them to the bill. Pretty neat! Need to enter PLUs for produce. The produce all seemed fresh and reasonable priced, was comparable to Safeway/HT prices. The fresh kitchen offered a wide selection of grab and go (sushi, wraps, pizza, salad bar). As far as grocery item selection, it didn't seem much different than your regular grocery store - there mY have been a few item which looked like whole foods or Trader Joe's type, but this didn't bother me. Overall I thought this was a great store. Unfortunately it's a bit out of the way for me so I'm not sure how often I'll go back but it was a cool experience! read more

Amazon Fresh is a blending of traditional grocery stores, think Wegmans, Safeway, Giant, Harris Teeter meets Whole Foods. There is a combination of local, organic and mainstream products available, prices are all over the map, some are higher than other places; but lots are lower than what you can find on sale at traditional groceries. The produce section was the weakest of all the sections in my opinion, fresh meat and seafood was well stocked and competitively priced, hot an prepared foods were available; but I really did not look at them. The really interesting and fun aspect of shopping at Amazon Fresh was the Dash Cart. If you have the Amazon App and a credit / debit card attached using the Dash Cart is the quickest way to shop and check out. Each cart has 4 shopping bags inside and as you place items in the cart, it is automatically scanned and the price is added to your running total. If you remove an item, it is automatically deducted. For the fruits and veggies i selected you had to enter the PLU Code and number of item prior to placing in the cart. At checkout all you had to do was run the cart through a special lane and your items were totaled charged to your credit or debit card, remove your bags from the cart and leave the store. Even thought it is a 30 minute drive from home I will return just to use the Dash Cart, hoping Amazon will covert some existing Whole Foods to the Amazon Fresh concept. read more

Located in Franconia, the Amazon Fresh store is a great addition to the area that offers a new and extremely efficient way to shop for groceries. Hate check out lines? Well, this is definitely the place for you. You can skip the line if you have an Amazon account. The employees will guide you through how to use this feature but in sum, you get a cart that has a sensor/camera that reads every item you place in the cart. It accounts for all the items you've chosen, and gives you a total for your bill. If you've done everything correctly, then your card on your Amazon account gets charged, and you can take your shopping bags right when you've finished. Pretty neat! You also have the option of shopping with regular carts and wait at a check out lane, if you prefer. Overall, I thought in terms of the products offered in the grocery aisles, it was a bit lackluster and very basic. I felt like they have a few items here and there from a Whole Foods, but a very limited selection. The highlight of the store is definitely the fresh food and cafeteria-like section. I love that Amazon has made it so convenient for consumers to grab a meal to-go that feels healthy and fresh. In the meat section, you can find pre-seasoned steaks and burgers. In the hot food/ ready to go section, you can find everything from big slices of pizza, chicken wings, to chicken tikka masala, and etc. From the cold foods, I've tried the fresh mozzarella pasta salad and the curry chicken salad, which were surprisingly very flavorful. TLDR : I suggest that you might want to try at least once and experience the "FRESH" in Franconia :) Pizza is less then $2 for gigantic slice and donut is good too! There are couple dash carts that are ready to roll and that staff has prepared 2 shopping bag inside. All you need is to follow the instruction on the screen ( scan the QR code ) and start grab anything you want to buy! I tried to grab one pack 6 pcs paper towel but I hesitate to continue to put it to my cart since it could cause a little bit probs with the cam. Anyway, this is not about me this is about the store, I'm sorry, I was too excited lol The Isle, was nice, clean and organized. The vibe that you get is just different because this is not a huge store like Whole Food but if you ever stepped into Walmart Neighborhood, that's pretty much the size of the store. The selections is pretty nice, I saw mixed of 365 ( wholefoods brand) and amazon brand for some items. There is your girl ALEXA "who" is ready to help you and you can ask, "what's item on sale" or you can ask which isle is the ketchup, etc :) The produce is super fresh, I mean, I don't know if because they're new and the weekend was packed but I have pictures of the produce. A lot of choices for food here. The quality of meat is comparable to other grocery stores. Though, I did find produce quality lacking for some items. I'm able to do all of my groceries and keep track of how much I'm spending with the automatic scanner in the shopping cart. I was a little frustrated with how the shopping cart scanner gave me multiple false warnings for placing other items in the cart when it was actually an item I scanned. Pricing is fair with some items being more or less expensive than other grocery stores I shop at. The staff members are friendly and quick to help. I've got to say, I was underwhelmed. Perhaps it was the hype before opening or the face that there is a Wegman's nearby, but Amazon Fresh just didn't do it for me. The positives: The store was very clean both times I went, and they employees all seemed to be very helpful. There are smart carts, but they are popular. You have to wait until one is available before shopping. There is a no contact pay option at checkout with your Amazon Prime app. The negatives: While nice, the check out employees seemed a tad novice both times I went. The first time I went the employee spent FOREVER looking up the produce codes for checkout and the wait was significant. On my second experience I noticed after I got home that a BOGO item just wasn't scanned. (That's not good for managing stock on the shelves.) The aisles are significantly more narrow than a traditional grocery store, so it was tight navigating at times. read more

I agree with others in that the shelves are almost always bare and the prices are certainly nothing to write home about! What gives - we are not in 2020 any longer - stock your shelves!! When I got home and opened the box I was truly surprised. The pizza was smaller - didn't even fill the box, you could tell there was hardly any sauce and little cheese. And THICK CRUST! WTH??? I heated up a slice that evening and it was like eating cardboard - NO FLAVOR! I thought it was fluke, perhaps the guys making it were new and didn't give a s*** so I went back two days later and ordered three supreme pizzas thinking I'll get my yummy pizza. WRONG! When they took them from the over my eyes were saying YES, that looks right. But noooooo, when I got home, here again I had a smaller, thick crust pizza lacking sauce & cheese. So I added some feta and black olives, Italian seasoning, some sauce, and more pizza cheese. Settled in last night and said let me see............NO FLAVOR, NO CHEESE, NO SAUCE even with what I added - WTH!!! BLECH!
