I picked up a loaf of Lydl bread clearly marked $1.35 cents on the shelf. After waiting at checkout for nearly 15 minutes I was charged $1.97 cents for the bread. They sent someone to check the price and verified the price on the shelf was $1.35 but they refused to give it to me for that price claiming it was miss marked. Highly annoying! read more

I love Lidl for the convenience, for the selection, and for the great prices, and I love how they've redone the store, but my goodness they need to do something with the checkout process! There's always a line and without fail they always shut it down in the middle of checking people out which forces everyone to shift to a new register. This often causes the person that was next in line to checkout to now become the last person in line. It's so ridiculous lol! The cashiers also move way too fast, like they're working towards some bonus the quicker they are, which then results in you not having enough time to even get your stuff before the next person's stuff is smashing yours & and then you're forced to rush as fast as you can get your items off the belt! I get it that they're busy but if they would simply slow down even just a little bit and maybe open up more registers or just come up with a smoother checkout experience, it would be the ultimate!!! read more

Subject: Request for Review by District Manager - Serious Misconduct by Store Manager (Lidl, 6548 Little River Turnpike, Alexandria, VA 22312) Dear District Manager, I am writing to report a serious incident involving the store manager at the Lidl location at 6548 Little River Turnpike, Alexandria, VA 22312. I believe her behavior was unprofessional, escalatory, and in violation of Lidl's customer service and conduct standards. I asked a simple question about a product that was no longer available. The manager gave a brief answer, but when I politely continued the conversation, she became visibly annoyed and responded in a sarcastic and dismissive manner. She told me, "If you don't like it, call customer service," and when I said that this was not good customer service, she replied sarcastically, "That's my option," and walked away. I want to be fully transparent: At that moment, feeling disrespected, I said the phrase "you're bullshitting me." I regret using that wording, and it was not intended as a threat -- it was an emotional reaction to being treated with disrespect. I remained calm and did not raise my voice. Despite this, the manager suddenly escalated the situation. She: * ordered me to leave the store without any explanation, * announced it over the store radios, creating a public scene, * brought over a large male employee as if to intimidate or remove me, * began recording me with her phone in a confrontational manner, * and then called the police. Throughout the entire interaction, I remained at a safe distance, did not approach her, did not raise my voice, and did not act aggressively in any way. I have video evidence showing that: * she recorded me, * she was not wearing a name badge, * and I was physically far from her at all times. When she told me to leave, I did not refuse. I simply asked why I was being told to leave. Then I calmly said: "I will leave, but please tell me your name or show your badge so I can give accurate feedback." Both she and the male employee refused to provide their names or show a badge, which made the situation even more confusing and unprofessional. After they refused, I left the store voluntarily on my own. When the police arrived, the manager showed them a video in a way that exaggerated the situation, which led the officer to say that I "could" be arrested. I understand this is standard when a store presents a situation as serious. No charges were filed because I did nothing illegal and I cooperated fully. This entire incident made me feel humiliated, powerless, and unprotected. I was treated as if I were a threat simply for asking a question and expecting respectful communication. The unnecessary escalation, public radio announcements, intimidation by another employee, refusal to provide a name or badge, and involvement of police were extremely distressing. I am requesting your review of this matter, as this level of misconduct and lack of professionalism does not reflect the standards that Lidl is known for. Updated review: This location has been decent since opening in 2020. The parking lot is large. The carts are kept inside the store. This decreases being approached by strangers who want my quarter. The selection of items is similar to most Aldi's. Sometimes I find items stocked just for that location. This has more wine selections. The non food row is a favorite. There are usually sale items. The chilled picnic bag is awesome ( and better than whole foods). read more

I come in here on a weekly basis for my groceries since moving into a new neighborhood nearby. They are very similar to Aldi, but the stores and the selection are larger. They should use the same system as Aldi in which you have to insert a quarter to release a shopping cart, and return the cart to get your quarter back. The Lidl in Springfield has a larger selection of foreign fruits such as kiwi fruits, dragonfruits, and mangoes than this one does. This Lidl has a bakery onsite which is nice; Aldi does not have this. I got Nature's Own orange juice (half-gallons, $3.64 each), navel oranges ($4.69), red delicious apples ($3.99), Seltzer's bologna ($5.99), bananas (3.08 lbs. at $0.36/lb., $1.11), a gallon of milk ($4.49), razon blades ($3.99), and yard waste bags ($7.99). The fruits and vegetables are always fresh. The selection of weekly specials is good; you have to act fast if you see something you like because they move fast. read more

I wanted to include a picture that shows just one example of the nastiness of this store. Here you can see where rodents have chewed through food. And there were other examples as well that I did not take a picture of. I personally witnessed an employee putting molded food back on the shelf. There were tortillas that were already green on the back of them, and they were lying to the side as an employee went through the tortillas. The employee did not take them off the shelf. They were still there when the employee left and had been placed back in with the other packages. As I also noted, I tried to return some coffee here to the store that was mispriced. It rang up the wrong price. The manager was incredibly rude to me in front of a line of people. They have no customer service. It's really atrocious compared to the level of service at other stores. Their slogan is that they have suspiciously low prices. Not so. You're paying for the lack of cleanliness and service. read more

First time here for the grand opening, and I must say this place is really awesome! The Lidl chain reminds me of Aldi stores. Good prices, bring you own bag, and even the look of the stores are the same. But, there is no corporate relationship; they're competitors. There was a line outside where the traffic flow into the store was a regulated for social distancing. Inside, there were lots of sales and good deals. While it's similar to Aldi, I'd say Lidl is a step down in a couple of ways. 1. there are only a few aisles and it is very crowded. 2. The produce was atrocious. Bins either empty or what was left was the bottom of the barrel. Otherwise, they are very similar with Lidl probably winning slightly on the price game. Some of the prices were so low it was like, I kind of had to buy those products. There is a huge focus on the middle of the store area that has miscellaneous household items, clothing, toys, etc. I had the similar feeling I have had at ALDI-I have a cart full of things I didn't really need but were so cheap and look-I spent under $XX. I'd be lying if I didn't say I popped over to Giant right after this trip to finish my shopping list. Bring your own bags, no quarter for the cart, and parking is near impossible at peak times. I, personally, prefer ALDI so I'll continue to go there instead. AT least I know what I am not missing. read more

Got to get my Greek style yogurts, and occasionally a lunch salad from here. Am in the business of renewed fitness, after a unexpected pause. Lidl helps because their prices are very competitive. Inflation is in play, but here you can get deals on fruits and vegetables. It's a clean and organized store. The place packs a lot of food, in a small area though. If you're looking for a lot of employees, the ones here are super. Yet Lidl has notoriously low labor costs, which saves you money ultimately. To their credit they pay well. This reminds me a lot of Aldi but actually has more selection. They both originated from Germany but isn't owned by the same nor related owners. This store has completely changed my grocery shopping games! From the price perspective, I used to sho meat and veggie at Korean stores, and other stuff at Trader Joe's or Harris Teeter. I first tried ground beef from Lidl then pork chop. Both are much cheaper than Korean stores and decent quality. Their bakery has good bread that reminds me of Europe. I purchased most of thanksgiving dinner ingredients here too. This store is now added to my weekly grocery trip itinerary. Tylil the cashier doesn't seem to have gotten the message as to what good customer service means: (1) You don't bark "Hey!" at the customer to get their attention. If you want to communicate with the customer, who is actually trying to help YOU out by exposing the product code to make it easier for you to scan, how about "Excuse me" or "Ma'am"? (2) Instead of dropping the change into their hand so that it scatters onto the counter and the floor, and then laughing about it, you hand the change over to the customer. Be friendly. 10/31/20 This is the third store I have that rhymes with the word fiddle. This time we decided to do our shopping early in the morning. Ever wonder how many times the name of this store has been said wrong? There are some early bird shoppers here, but the place is neatly organized and stocked. Soft music by Norah Jones is playing from the speakers. The song is called It Was You In case you are wondering. This store isn't as big as the last two stores I have visited, but it is till impressive. I did see generic cereal that looked like name brands I have seen in the States...oh wait, we are in the states. Still Lidl stores are a part of Germany so I guess it counts to a small degree. We did not buy any cereal this time, but I will keep it in mind for next time. I did see hotdogs that caught my eye for a low price, but does lower price always mean better quality? Quality product low price. I remember shopping at Lidl when I lived in Germany so I was excited when I discover one was opening soon (September). Lidl grocery store Pinecrest Plaza on Little River Turnpike now occupied the Staples storefront. Like Aldi's, Lidl offers low-prices and minimal services. I was in the area on 10/03 and decided to grab a handful of groceries. As soon as I walked I felt like I was at my local Aldi's. Then I discovered they have an in house bakery, my stomach immediately started doing the happy dance. They also have a great selection of chocolate and wine. I'm on the fence about their fruits and vegetables as the selection is limited or out of stock. The store is better staffed and brighter than my local Aldi, even though the staff has no idea where things are located (but that's understandable its a new store). You do pay for bags at checkout if you don't have. Plastic bags starting 10 cents and paper 18 cents. You bag yourself, but at the register, not a separate area. Oh, You don't need a quarter for the shopping cart. There's also a disinfectant station at the front of the store you can sanitize your cart before you shop. Anything you buy is returnable, no questions asked, so the guarantee is good. read more

This grocery store took over the spot of Staples/Spirit Halloween and they just redid the entire parking lot. Grand opening was 9/9. Similar to Aldi except anyone can take a cart. I think the biggest thing that stands out between the two is the bakery section here. You can get fresh donuts, croissants, bread, cookies and other goodies that are freshly made. Honestly, the bakery section was SO crazy and there were a ton of people wanting stuff, so I feel like the workers in this department were way more stressed out than any others, they definitely deserve a raise. Shoutout to Zion and his friend working the section on 9/20 at 10am. They were super helpful and attentive when they saw me waiting for croissants (which everyone should try). The mini apple tarts are definitely a must try too. Checkout was also speedy and our cashier was friendly. Cheap prices, clean store, and friendly staff. I have been to other Lidls before (loved them) and had high hopes for this store. I was especially excited for the fresh baked goods. I've been twice since it opened and won't be returning for a good long while. First, it's very crowded, which wouldn't be a problem if it was run efficiently, but I found myself navigating through aisles crowded with equipment and employees and then waiting in a long line to check out. It seemed like a lot of the workers were on the floor rather than checking people out, but there was no plain yogurt on the shelves, a staple I always have on my list. When I did finally check out, the cashier's mask was continually dropping below his nose. At one point, he had to call a manager and the manager's mask was way below his nose. All of the customers I saw managed to wear their masks properly. The employees should do us the same courtesy. I'll continue shopping at Aldi for now. read more
