Went to the customer service desk today to purchase postage stamps; there were two elderly people in line ahead of me. Serendipitously, one of them was an elder from my church. The woman in customer service was festively dressed with faux antlers and holiday earrings. With my church elder, who was purchasing power ball tickets, she was clearly perturbed. She was on edge with him and slightly disrespectful. He did not understand the payment arrangement; but she did not have to be so irritated with him. On to the next customer; it was an elderly woman wanting to cash in a winning ticket. The customer service woman chided the poor woman telling her that the ticket wasn't registered and she would be getting no cash payout. I seriously doubt if the customer even understood why she was not getting any satisfaction for her winning ticket. I did not like the way she was being treated. The process was laborious so I went to the express checkout where Tracey got me a book of stamps with no wait. She chuckled and shook her head with chagrin over the customer service woman's behavior. Anyway shame on her; she clearly needs an attitude adjustment especially at this time of year. Kindness goes a long way. Please respect our elders. They are people of value too. read more

It works for what it is. Am not pleased about the new bag tax, but local government has to get its money all ways possible. Right now inflation and also food in smaller containers, hurts my wallet a lot. What's left of it. As a thrifty guy I usually get fruits and vegetables from Asian supermarkets, or Aldi and Lidl. Here the quality is super, but at the price it's nuts. Giant is most often cheaper than Safeway. That's their main competitor. This one is clean and relatively maintained. Polite employees although a lot of self checkout stations. Not sure what to put down on my 1099 form as this is work. All jokes aside you can do okay when shopping here. read more

This Giant is A-OK. I prefer this location to the one in Annandale because it seems to have better stock of items I want to purchase. I stop here if I have been in Springfield and am heading home. It is clean and the lines more relatively well. It may just be in my imagination (or a coincidence) but I have liked their rotisserie chickens more than the ones I have grabbed from Annandale, they seem fresher perhaps because they are purchased more here. read more

2.5 stars really. It's a step up from the Safeway down the street, but still pales in comparison to Wegmans/Whole Foods or even Trader Joes. There produce department is large but lacking organic choices. Actually, that's a pretty good description of the whole grocery store: it's large but lacking. Customer service is OK, and the lines tend to be long on weekends, but move fairly quickly, so that is good. One last thing to note: I would be apprehensive buying fish here as the fish department had a very strong fishy smell. read more

So, now that I've been to this Giant twice, I feel that I can give it an honest review. After great experiences with the Giant in Columbia, MD, my wife and I decided that we should give the Giant's in NoVa a chance as well. This was the second one we tried. Though we did not have a bad experience at the other one in Annandale, the ratings at this location were higher. There are two big differences from the one we used to go to. One positive and one negative. First, the positive, the Giant here is a really good selection. It's not that it has the best I've seen, but it is definitely better than the one we used to go to. For almost every product, there are three or more varieties to choose from, whereas most supermarkets I've seen seem to be going to one name brand and one store brand. The negative difference is the lack of the hand held ScanIt scanners. For those not familiar with the concept, it's basically a hand held checkout scanner you carry with you and scan as you go along. It is good because it gets you through the checkout super fast and lets you see your running grocery total as you go along. We really prefer to use it, and the manager said it will probably never come to this location. Mitigating the lack of ScanIt, the checkers are quite good, and keep their lines moving. In addition, the lines have baggers who actually know how to bag groceries instead of just throwing them in the bag and hoping it doesn't break. I will go to the other Annandale Giant again for comparison sake, but it will be pretty hard not to go here again. read more

At first glance, this location looks like every other location in the area. They have a deli, bakery, meat, and seafood section. The produce area seemed a little less robust than other locations that I have visited, and give seen many! They seem somewhat over-priced with regular pesto chicken sandwiches starting at $6. The salad bar appeared to be decent. Also, there is no bank at this location, but the pharmacy appeared to be very active, with a small line of people. I came in for the honey baked rotisserie chicken that is pre-cooked. This has a fair price of $6.00. I ate a fee bites in the car and it is super delicious! I don't mind this store at all, and it serves its purpose. Just nothing super spectacular like some of the other grocery stores that I have visited. All of the employees who I saw and interacted with seemed nice and polite. read more

Conveniently located & it has almost everything you need to make a great feast at home. Staffs are friendly & they have a few self checkout kiosks. Shelves always seemed to be well stocked. Took out a star because their bakery or donuts section always seem to have tiny insects buzzing around them, I let it go the 1st few times I noticed them but today I've decided to share it with my fellow Yelpers (see pic below of our little guy enjoying his donut). There were at least four little guys, I saw buzzing around the donuts. Told the staff about it & her reply was "oh they are just fruit flies," like it was nothing. Told a Manager too so hopefully they'll do something about it. Bummed me out, no donut for me today! read more

This place is ok in a pinch, but I absolutely LOATHE their parking lot: tight, people wander aimlessly when walking, and not very well laid out. Inside the Giant, the aisles are a little tighter than I like and it always seems to be crowded, even with the upgrades. Their self check lanes are each individual lanes (instead of the two stacked per queue at other places), and seem to take up a lot of room. Meh is a good description. read more

Do not make online catering orders for this store. I placed a large order last Monday morning to be picked up Wednesday morning. I called Tuesday afternoon to see if I could add to the other. They had no record of the order but the store manager assured me everything would be ready the next morning. The deli pieces were done but the store manager failed to inform the bakery about the huge sheet cake. Megan and Vera in the bakery saved the day but it cost me an hour and it was unnecessary. Poor management. Lesson learned. They get 2 stars instead of one because of the bakery team. read more

This Giant is literally within walking distance (for me!) and I go here when I need those last-last minute things that the Asian grocery stores don't particularly carry. They do have weekly sales going on, but I really do find a lot of their produce and fruits expensive...and most of the time they don't go on sale -_-; Anyway, inside of the place it's clean and spacious! The employees there are nice and friendly, but they don't go out of their way to help you. Now the downside is that the parking lot SUCKS. It's so cramped and tight that you feel as if you're going to hit the shoppers or another driver....The layout is horrible and I advise you to park FAAAAAR away from the entrance and walk. read more

This Giant is usually very busy on the weekdays around 5pm. People are stopping by after work to grab stuff on the way home. You'd think they would know this, but no! Self-checkout is always backed up. There's absolutely no help on the floor. There's usually 2 cashiers checking out during rush hour. What's up with this!!!??? It's painfully long even when you're self-checking out there's 5 kiosks that are backed-up. Selection is limited. Organic selection also extremely limited. Everything in this large store is limited basically! Don't come here unless you absolutely need to grab something. Service won't be quick! read more

Never had a problem shopping here until recently. Avoid the meat department at this store if you can help it. Have had several experiences over the last 4 to 6 months where "fresh" boneless chicken breasts from Nature's Promise brand, beef roasts and also ground beef changed colors and smelled foul before the sell by date. A store employee was also recently witnessed changing the sticker on expired meat items. Perhaps that explains it, so be careful. read more

Worst Giant ever. Understocked, understaffed. Meat and produce selections are lousy and what they do offer is often not fresh. Bradlick Giant is a run of the mill store, with a limited selection of organic vegetables and still drowning customers in plastic bags which tend to end up in the ocean polluting the planet more everyday. The only bright spot in this otherwise ordinary store is a manager called Britt. I have seen him in action for the last 10 years, dealing with problematic, unreasonable, demanding customers, and am permanently in awe of his patience, understanding and intelligence dealing with abusive and rude individuals, never losing his composure, regardless of what idiots pile on him. It is uncanny how professional he is in the face of so much abuse. I just hope he gets credit for these qualities, he is the one who gets me to come back to this store, although I am more a TJ and Whole Foods type. Originally my review was a 2.5. I just returned from doing grocery shopping at this Giant location and I am extremely annoyed at the way their register system runs. They only have checker lanes for those purchasing 12 items or less. If you are purchasing any more than that (something I'm sure most grocery shoppers do) you have to go through a self check lane and bag your own groceries. This seems extremely inefficient and, to make matters worse, every time I scanned a produce item an associate had to come and approve the purchase. That is absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time. In addition, the check lane shuts down if you scan too many items without bagging them first which makes grocery shopping on your own a big chore because the bagging area is about 8 feet from the checking area so you have to continuously walk back and forth. I'm extremely disappointed with this experience, especially because I liked the variety they carried in store. Unfortunately, I will not be back to this location again and will be on the hunt for a different grocer to frequent. Edit to this review: Its been about 4 days since I last reviewed and a bunch of my produce has gone rotten! I had to throw out an entire spaghetti squash, half a bushel of asparagus, and several apples. I'd now change my review to a one star. Definitely WILL NOT be returning. read more

I could have reported her, but chose not to because I choose to take the high road. Just warning other patients to be careful here. This is a pretty standard grocery store. Customer service is not exceptional, and sometimes even sub-par. Please make sure to view all the dates on the dairy items! I have seen some items where everything on the shelf had expired for more than a month. And, when this was pointed out to employees, there did not seem to be much concern about it. read more

Ugh! If you enjoy standing in long lines, this is your kind of place. They switched most of the checkout to self service. So, those never work well and are always backed up. Then the registers with live people have extremely long lines with carts loaded to the sky, so they take forever too. The folks who work here are nice enough, but it's a complete waste of time to shop here. Zero service and long lines = shop elsewhere! read more

3/1/13: The management at Giant at Bradlick must have changed because the customer service is more willing to try to assist you in getting the products you want. The grocery manager actually called 4 other stores in the area to see if any of them still carried the product. That's going above and beyond! I am truly impressed with the management at this Giant. (this review was over a year ago.) My biggest issue with this Giant is the pharmacy! I have had more than one issue where the manager of the pharmacy was rude to me. And forget about asking them any questions--it seems that they think their job is just to fill prescriptions--- forget about any sort of education of the drugs they are dispensing! As for the rest of the store. I don't really have complaints about the employees who work at the store and I think they keep it clean and well stocked. But I do have an issue when it comes to asking customer service to special order something or bring back an item. Unlike Harris Teeter or Wegmans--Giant's answer has always "No". But, Giant does have the gas points--- so at this point; I will have to sacrifice my desire for better customer service for cheaper gas read more

This Giant is a wonderful grocery store in that it is fully stocked with a plethora of options for groceries. All the staff are respectful and will help you when you need it. The store can be busy during rush hour time, so be wary of the crowded lines at the cash registers. Produce and meats are fresh. However, many items are more expensive than they are at other grocery stores in the area. So, if cost is important to you, look at other establishments for better prices with food just as fresh or even fresher. read more

I'm visiting from NY, so it's a nice store. The produce is so organized and fresh, the deli is uncrowded and not fussy about handing out tastes. They have a few more craft beers and wine choices than I'd expect in the 'burbs, and the staff seems nice enough. However, on both visits my cashier was unable to sell me alcohol w/o a manager override so we had to wait and hold up everyone behind us. Kind of annoying. Would be nice if they posted that on the checkout so we'd be aware, and could maybe find them in advance. read more
