Reduced items from the bakery RARELY ring up at the discounted price. - Today my $6.49 cake rang up at over $28.00, thanks to the sales attendant who scanned it over and over again. - I've also bought sale items from other parts of the store that do not ring up the sales price, only to discover it once I get home, forcing me to either return later, or if I'm too busy, forget it. - Dirty little store and nasty parking lot, with bums hanging around, some giving chase for a hand out, whether it be food, drink, or money. - I recommend watching your back, left, right, front and center if you shop in this store. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated at this Giant location. I was racially profiled by employees who accused me of stealing without any evidence. This experience was not only humiliating but also deeply upsetting. I have always shopped here and never expected to be treated with such disrespect and bias. The staff needs urgent training on how to treat customers fairly and avoid discriminatory behavior. I hope Giant takes this issue seriously and addresses it immediately to ensure no one else has to go through such an experience. My story: I went to the bakery to order two 3 leches cake for a work party. One of the ladies was very nice and tried helping me place my order but the bakery manager was unprofessional and stated that they had those cakes everyday and I proceed to state that I want to make sure they have 2 of them because I needed two cakes. She rolled her eyes and told the other lady to help me fill out the paper. When I went to pick up the two cakes I had ordered I put them in my reusable bag and the bakery manager handed me a paper. She said "I'm sorry we couldn't write happy birthday on the cake" and turned around. I proceed to look for candles that could possibly say "happy birthday" but they only had numbers. After that I started to look for the gift cards and I couldn't find them so I went to the customer service desk and asked for help. I found myself with the bakery manager and the store manager and I thought nothing of it and I proceed to ask for help. Then I noticed a guy was following me around the store.. that's when I started to put all the pieces together. I proceed to go pay at self check out but I couldn't purchase the gift card there so I went to an open lane ( mind you they were eyeing me the whole time and the man following me was following me still) the lady at the lane rolled her eyes and pointed that her name was closed so I went to another one and paid there. When the store manager saw that I was going lane to lane he went to stand behind me. I gave the cashier the gift card, and I was putting the cakes down to take the piece of paper that the bakery manager gave me to give to the cashier and that's when he proceed to say "aren't you going to pay for the cakes" and I replied with "Yes I'm taking the paper out to give to the cashier, are you accusing me of stealing?" And he said "that's not what I said" I proceed to pay and exited the store and will not be returning back. Thanks for reading my experience. Also funny side story the guy following me around the store ended up in the same lane as me and was fixing the battery's but he was too focused on me he dropped like 3 boxes of batteries and the battery boxes opened and the batteries went all over the floor. XD I guess god gave them work to do then to follow me around the store and accusing me of stealing a gift card that doesn't activate until you purchase it and two cakes. Average Giant that seems like it was a retail store back in the day. The store wasn't too crowded and the aisles aren't too narrow so those are pluses. The deli service is friendly but below average in terms of giving you what you want if thin sliced or shaved turkey. Your order will be thicker than you request. This Giant is fine if you're in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip to go here. read more

Very nice employees. They definitely will help you out. The registers are either full service or self check out. If in a hurry, the latter is usually the best choice. This one doesn't get too busy thankfully. Here you can find thing's conveniently. Time is money after all. As for cleanliness it's solid. Also the amount of stock is decent. How are the prices? Decent but you'll save money at Aldi, Lidl, Walmart etc. The produce here is very high quality. This is a spot you will find comfortable and rather easy to access. This is the worst giant store. The staff is not friendly and acts like they don't want to work. Tried to order a birthday cake, sat on the phone for 25 minutes and nobody picked up. Stopped by the store and was ignored while standing at the bakery counter. A woman just kept walking back and forth as if I wasn't even there. Went to the manager and he said sorry about that. He never offered to take my cake order himself, or to remedy the situation with an order sheet. When I said I will go to another store he said ok. That's not caring at all!! read more

4/14/21 One of the last times I was at this Giant, I was heading Shockaboom. This Giant was fairly large, but well organized. I didn't seem much of the store, because our focus was only on the apples we wanted.The apples were delicious, but I finished it pretty quickly. The next time I went back to this area, there was am temporary amusement park set up near a closed down store. This time around I got a better look at the store. Nothing really stood out for me this time, but it felt good to see the whole store this time around. read more

I love the Giant Food Stores - Great selections and prices (Annandale & Woodbridge Stores).

The big advantage of this particular location is it is close to home. Likewise, there is ample parking and it does not seem to get particularly crowded. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was not bad, not too many folks in the isles and checking out was easy and fast. While I am not a big Giant Food fan in general I use this location for convenience and necessity and definitely prefer it to the Safeway off of Little River Turnpike. read more

I especially like Giant Food's Manager's Special program where food reaching the sell by date is sold 50% off. I take advantage of this program to try items I ordinarily wouldn't buy for full price. But... The deli departments in both of these stores abruptly stopped offering the 50% off Manager's Special for food reaching the sell by date. However, Manager's Specials are daily still offered in the bakery, meat, and fish departments. Why the difference in treatment of deli food? The Giant Manager Special is a great program that prevents vast amounts of food from being thrown out after the sell by date. Suggested solution: Giant Food should immediately reinstate Manager Specials in the deli food department to prevent deli food from being thrown out on the sell by date. read more

Polar opposite experiences in customer service. I came in to pick up 2 holiday dinners for the company I work for. Company card was declined. There was a pleasant young lady being trained by another employee- Ali. Ali was patiently giving produce codes, showing her how to complete a tax exempt purchase etc. Unfortunately I had to go get another card. This time a young lady named Jessica was the cashier...she was irritable and complaining about not having a break. She actually said with customers in line to a manager- "can I close my line?" the manager answered "yes" just as Jessica said "close my line before I explode"... I get it, it's Christmas Eve, 4pm. Nobody wants to be in Giant but you're getting paid to do it. Ali, by the way was all over the place helping out, showed her how to do the tax exempt, wishing happy holidays. I needed a birthday cake for a girl last min and was going crazy cause no one had any cakes for birthdays everything was for the holidays!!! A women approach me wished I would of gotten her name and asked me if i needed any help and explain my dilemma and she asked Brian if he can fix 24 cups cakes for a lil girls party, and he didn't even hesitate! Giant Food - The best cupcakes EVER - Grocery Near Me - Annandale, Virginia

This is one of my more preferable Giants to visit except that it's not super convenient for me to visit more frequently. Items are well stocked, and there appears to be more variety for things like spices and cookies. Interestingly enough, I think their French bread is delicious and will buy it over breads from Safeway. There's a bunch of self check out stations and that's great except when there's an issue and the clerk isn't nearby the main station to observe and clear out issues or come over and help. read more

OK. I haven't shopped here all that much. There is an other Giant about two miles away, which I like a lot better, but I had such a good experience with this location that I had to finally Yelp it. When my usual Giant was out of, and may have stopped carrying, baking yeast by the jar, I asked the perfunctory question about where it could get it. The general manager of my usually store called this one on her cell phone to find out if they had it, which they did. When I got to this location, a customer service representative was waiting for me. She walked me back to where the baking yeast was shelved in the dairy case and showed me the two types they had in jars. She also let me know that they could order me a case if I wanted. She also explained to me a little about Giant's buying and stocking strategies, which gave me a better picture of how to track down things that my usual store may not have in stock. I have to hand it to this Giant, they really went out of their way for me. read more

This is my usual Giant. Grocery-wise, not bad. Haven't really had an issue in the last 9 years I've lived here. HOWEVER... I do have a MAJOR issue with the pharmacy here. I filled a prescription for my 6 year old for prednisolone Sunday after an emergency room visit for croup. The prescribed dosage was for 7.8ml. The pharmacist on duty and the tech on duty gave me an infant dropper, "to make it easier for me" and showed me with the dropper to measure out .78 ml to give her. They verbally instructed and demonstrated for me to give her a fraction of the medication she needed. 5 days later, My daughter spent all day in the emergency room for pneumonia. After 5 days of sleepless nights and three pediatric visits. Our pediatrician was shocked when she realized what had happened. I was livid when I realized the dosing error. When I went to complain to the manager, I was given a $10 gift card for my trouble. My child's life, not to mention all our pain and suffering is worth $10?! Ten lousy bucks doesn't scratch the cost of the three pediatrician visits' copayment, the ER visit, or new prescriptions. Oh, but thanks for the $10 off my family's food bill. I am enraged an the ineptitude of the staff at this location. My child could have died and has endured five full days of complete and utter misery because they gave me the wrong dispenser and dosing instructions. This is completely unacceptable. read more

I don't shop here very often, and overall, it's a clean and well stocked store. HOWEVER, on three different occasions, I've found perishable goods stocked on the shelf that were well past expired. I'm not talking about a day or two... Today, I found bags of hardboiled eggs on the shelf that were 1.5 weeks expired. I've previously found expired milk, as well as pico de gallo that was 2 weeks expired. This is most definitely not acceptable. read more

Giant's stores are the ugliest grocery stores I'm convinced. They all need a remodel, similar to the project that Target undergoing. You walk into these stores, and it's as if you are transported back in time. The prices seem to be higher than other local stores, and the employees just seem cold and unfriendly. Actually one of the better Giants in the area. It looks pretty updated compared to the other one down the street and I'm able to get in and out of the lines in no time. Parking is tight and sometimes there is a crazy backup because there is a light right at one of the entrances. I recently moved into the neighborhood and started shopping here. And wow I was amaze at the customer service provided at my local giant. I asked a gentleman name Joe for help in location an item and he was unhelpful, angry, and hostile. Every other time i go there and see him, he's just mad at something and just glaring at people. I later found out the gentleman was the store manager and it was actually depressing to see that giant would hire someone like that to lead. I have nothing but high praises & great respect for, not only the pharmacist's but the entire pharmacy staff. I have always been treated with smiles & professionalism each AND every time I have either dropped off or picked up a prescription. Don't allow one bad review to keep you from using this pharmacy ! One of the only places you can buy Ovaltine Original Malt in the DC area. Also if you start at this Giant and drive in a slowly expanding counter-clockwise spiral you will encounter a huge number of Korean restaurants, Karaoke bars, odd little shops that, in many cases, make no attempt at English signage. This will allow you to pretend that you have gone on a moderately expensive vacation trip at no cost to you. If you do this more than once, you will see completely different establishments each time. read more

I just witnessed a guy eating off the salad bar with his own fork sticking it right back into other fruit. I told one of the customer service reps and she said that was disgusting but she kept helping other people. That needs to be attended to as soon as possible. You need to lower the price! be competitive like CostCo or BJ's and keep it at $ 4.99 Your rotisserie chicken is NOT bigger or better than Costco or BJ's.. I bought a bottle of Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon wine yesterday from this store. The sign publishes a $12.99 price. I bought a lot of groceries that day and rarely cross check my receipt versus actual purchase as I trust registers scanning. When I got home, my wife reviewed the receipt and just happened to ask me about the bottle of wine purchase. It was then I discovered that I was charged $21.49 less $2.50 bonus savings for a total price of $18.99. I went back to the store and highlighted the issue. I was simply given a $6.00 reimbursement with a "sorry". When I told the clerk of the advertisement she said she would check it herself. While I am also concerned that other unknowing customers are overpaying for the same bottle, I think this is outrageous that such an error on this store's part would take place as it raises questions for me about what is being actually charged for items at the cash register. This should not have happened at all. The fact that I would have to go back to your store and raise it without any other sort of compensation (frankly I should have been completely reimbursed for my trouble) is a poor reflection on the store.
