The only thing I'd improve on would be time at register, they did away with their multiple self serve payment registers and now there's usually a1-5 minute wait time to get through payment stations - would be nice to see all registers open read more

I really like Aldi in general, and this one is pretty typical. It's right off a large road in a parking lot with one entrance/exit, so getting in and out can be a pain. Two weeks ago this Aldi completely rearranged the grocery aisles. It took a lot of patience but I managed to find most of the items. But this week took the cake: they took away ALL the self checkouts and replaced them with two manned lines. I understand that they probably had a theft problem but a few self checkouts could take a load off the very bad cashiers. read more

This is a pretty good store, it's clean and open but it is popular and the stock goes fast. Still there are issues with the long lines in the checkout lanes. this can be very very frustrating. they seem to have enough room to keep more stock, so not sure why this can be such a problem. I used to like Aldi more. Don't worry I still have a quarter for the shopping carts. That is a brilliant idea. Ever since Lidl entered the area, I like the friendly food shopping war among German chains. This means a lot now, as inflation is well, you know what it feels like. Here you can save money. As a single dad to a growing leviathan this helps. Aldi has wonderful deals on fruits, produce, yogurts, and on cereals. The beef choices and prices are up considerably. Also I wish they'd have the precooked chicken kabobs more often. It's a seasonal item. The coffee here isn't too tasty, and the K cups are inexpensive but the quality is questionable. Very nice employees and a clean store though. My biggest concern here is parking. read more

I'm glad I happened to make my way to this store because it is great! The store is clean, the aisles are wide and the prices are just right! I also love the unique finds. Well what a pleasant turn around Aldi has had in the last few months! The fruit and produce sections used to be cringeworthy at best but they now take more time to make sure it's stocked and products are in much better condition. Yeah, occasionally there are so sketchy packages and pieces of veggies or fruit that have seen better days or has been beaten up cause people have handled too frequently. But almost everyone I've gone to shop, there is and Aldi employee in the produce aisle stocking or cleaning things up. You're not going to find the widest variety of items like 150 kinds of cereal or a billion different kinds of potato chips, but they carry pretty much the basics you'd expect from a smaller grocery store. I did take 1 star off because their dairy cold case has been under stocked the last three months I've gone. Milk and eggs are almost always there but yogurt, juice, oat/almond/soy... Hit or miss if in stock or not. I'm a big fan of their jars of organic dried herbs and spices. You're not going to get a Penzy's but the quality and taste are excellent and the prices are 1/2 of what you'd pay at Safeway or Giant. Oh- I did end up taking back my gross celery to see what their "guarantee" was all about. And wouldn't you know it, they were really great about it and didn't make it a big horrible ordeal even though I felt weird about returning it The cashier just took a fleeting look at my sad, broken celery and apologized. She quickly whipped out my refund and said I should go and get another bag to replace what I brought in for free. Wooh. I don't know why I was surprised when she said that. After all, that IS they "Twice as Nice" policy.... Good job Aldi! PS... Love their milk chocolate and Belgian dark chocolate chips! My sweet tooth can't get enough for baking and making great desserts. The quality of the chocolate is great for not being "gourmet". I have sensitive taste buds so am glad to find there isn't a weird "chemical/processed" chalky taste that a lot of low quality chocolates tend to have. Melting the dark Belgian chips made for heavenly homemade gelato. Good job Aldi. I have heard friends gush about Aldi but had never been in one until this past week....and now I understand that it is fun to shop in! I really didn't need anything - it was more of an "investigative experience" - but wound up buying a few things including strawberries which were about 40% less than in Giant/Harris Teeter. I do a lot of baking so I was interested in seeing the prices on chocolate chips and basic ingredients; prices were excellent, so I will need to stock up on those. Great store and what's there, great prices. I had marked my calendar for weeks ahead to go in and get the seasonal wine advent calendar and seasonal cheese advent calendar. Talk about a great idea!!! Adult beverage advent calendar- duh! But I was not to have either. They sold out in the morning despite quantity restrictions. I had a few extra moments to myself this morning so I decided to treat myself with a trip to the brand new Aldi's grocery store in Falls Church (no judgement, the words treat yourself comes with a whole new meaning once you become a mom!). Since my trip was unexpected I did not come prepared with a quarter to borrow a cart while I browsed around. Luckily, I had my pump bag with me so I was able to fill it with some new treats. Aldi's definitely has a bigger selection than Trader Joe's but the store experience is definitely not as fun. They have a mixture of name brand and private label products with a focus on snack foods. If you love snacks this is your place! Within seconds of walking in I found Girl Scout dupes for Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs all under $2 a box (none of that $4 high way robbery the Girl Scouts of America are charging!). Their selection of organic produce and meat is basic but if you are looking to save money this is your place! I even saw that they carry the same brand of organic chicken breasts that I purchase at Mom's Organic which was a pleasant surprise. The baby aisle had yogurt melts at an unbeatable price (I'm seriously going broke restocking this every week) but alas, was not organic. One of my favorite aisles to explore was their miscellaneous home items which included everything from kitchen play sets made with sustainable wood (a serious great price) to retractable arms to reach items on high shelves. I hear that all of these products are sold on a limited basis so every shopping trip could be an adventure here. Check out was quick and simple but there was no Hawaiian shirted person to ask me about my day, tell me their favorite mango chip recipe, or compliment me on my hair which was somewhat disappointing. I am not coming back to this particular Aldi. It is Friday afternoon and it shuts down to one lane. Manager walks out and eventually opens a second lane. So there 2 types of shoppers today. Those loading up for the week ahead, and people with less than 10. Both should be accommodated with multiple lanes. Plenty of staff around and you bring it down to one lane? I do love Aldis but with YEARS of retail, you never ever take a store down to a single register on a Friday. Will be checking out more Aldis but not coming back here. I love Aldi. Not everything is great, but there are so many really good things. The seasonal "Aldi Finds" aisle is amazing. They have the most random stuff! The worst part is that you can never predict what they'll have (socks, spatulas, shower storage, rechargeable batteries, etc, etc), so you can't plan to buy particular things here. I highly recommend the Winking Owl wine. Very good. Seriously, for the price, it's unbelievably good. I also highly recommend the Little Salad Bar items, like the garlic hummus, and the Southwest Salad mix! Other goodies: - Wonder Drink kombucha - Splenda-like sweetener (waaaaay cheaper) - Smoked cheddar cheese - Canned smoked mussels - Live plants (hit and miss) - Fat free half and half! I am SO excited that an Aldi has finally opened close to where I live! This is my go-to grocery store and typically, I would have to drive across town to the Fairfax or Annandale location. If you have never been to an Aldi, this is a very basic grocery store. You have to put a quarter in the handle of the grocery cart to be able to use one, but get the quarter back when you return it. There is no music playing in the store and the staffing is very limited. When you go to checkout, get ready. They move very fast, which is awesome! You also have to pack your own groceries. They do sell paper and plastic grocery bags if you forgot yours for a very reasonable price. Most of the products that Aldi sells are not name brand items, however I can't tell a difference in the quality. They also sell German brand food and drinks here, which is fun. Honestly, I do all of my grocery shopping here because the quality of the products sold are great and the prices are amazing. Other than a few items that I buy in bulk from Costco, I haven't been to a different brand of grocery stores in months. I rarely spend more than $60 in groceries each week and that's for 2 people. I did not see many staff members and when I did, the civil but did not seem overly friendly. I saw they were looking for help, but from my experience, the selection process is very stingy. I am a fan of Aldi in general and this is my primary spot. The thing I like about this particular spot is its close proximity to the Rt 50 beltway exit. It also seems to have more cheese and lunch options than the Columbia Pike location. I wish it was a little larger and that some of my favorite items were available more than periodically. Why introduce me to something, get me to love it, and then stop carrying when I come looking for again, and no we are not just talking seasonal items. For example, for a while they had these breakfast sandwiches (think McGriddle) that I really liked, and then there was nothing and they told me it was a short term item. My questions is 'WHY?' if people are buying it (and I was not the only person asking) then why introduce us to something only to take away? I thought maybe it would be seasonal but still no luck with that hope. Thankfully the pumpkin bread roll is back this year :-). There have also been a couple of cheeses I loved only to have them disappear, the same thing happened with a couple of wines. In general they have some good cheese options, some basic regular ones and some that are different and fun to try, just be careful not to fall in love because they may not be around again. There are certain things they do seem to have consistently but honestly I am afraid if I list those they will disappear too. They have good salad option items from the specialty bags to the basics (I usually get some of each and mix up my own salads). They have some good dressings. I enjoy the French bread and allow myself couple of other bakery treats (apple fritters are good). Hubby enjoys their sandwich meats, chips, and granola bars and I appreciate the pricing on those items. Truth be told, pricing is one of my favorite things about Aldi. (Have you tried their imitation Girl Scoot cookies? Good stuff.) I don't mind the cart thing, actually I have not yet used a cart, I use this as a change to work my arms carrying a few bags around (or at least that is what I tell myself), of course I wait on the heavy items until I am about to check out. I was pretty excited when Aldi opened up near me as I had heard great things about the store, but I don't think I'll be making this place a regular stop on my errands route. Despite the shopping center being less than 0.5 miles from my house it is super inconvenient to get in and out of making it faster to go a bit farther and the addition of Aldi has made the parking lot even more of a nightmare. The store does have an interesting selection of cheap grocery items but it's fairly disorganized and can be difficult to find all the items on your list. The worst part of the experience each time has been checking out. I just can't figure out why the cashiers are consistently super rude. I get they are trying to go fast, I get they deal with people who are rude to them often, but I have always been nothing but polite and the customer service is always significantly lacking. They also usually only have 1 or 2 lanes open so that adds to the frustration. Come for the cheap wine if you must but brace yourself for curt employees and an overall inconvenient shopping experience. read more

However, I will never purchase meat or produce from here again, as I got food poisoning from something (maybe listeria from their lettuce or cilantro, or something from their ground turkey). The meat is of poor quality with hard pieces in it and the produce goes bad quickly. This location opened last week and we bought flour tortillas just to find that they were moldy when we got home. The stores are smaller so you're in and out faster, prices are excellent, and the quality is as good or better than the usual big name stores. An Aldi near my house, yay! Aldi is different from most types of grocery stores. Depending what your usual shopping list is like you may not find everything you're looking for here but it's good to come here first for the essentials. Bags of honey crisp apples will go on sale for $2.50 and at Harris Teeter I can buy about about 1.5 apples for that price. I usually shop at their Fairfax location which is smaller, but I felt the Fairfax store has a better cold section for hummus and cheese etc. But, this store is more comfortable to shop in because it's spacious. Some things that are always cheaper here than at normal grocery stores are guacamole, hummus, eggs, bell peppers, dark chocolate, some nuts, the low sodium bacon has no sugar added which is hard to find, organic tomato sauce, specialty crackers, nuts, gluten free items, and much more. Their $3 wine is supposed to be good but I'm not brave enough to try it. You will need a quarter to get a shopping cart. Just keep a quarter in your car and keep re-using it for Aldi trips. You stick it in the right side of the cart handles and a chain releases. Put the chain back in at the end and your quarter comes back. Also keep old shopping bags in your car for Aldi trips. Saving the environment and saving yourself some $$$. read more

I moved nearby 9 months ago and have fallen in love with Aldi!! It did take me some time to get that quarter in the cart thing correct, and I have finally gotten into the habit of leaving shopping bags in my car (buying them seemed so wasteful). While I can't do all my weekly shopping here, I try now to only get certain items here - such as milk, coffee for my Keurig machine, watermelon slices, and paper towels. Some of the prices are amazing! Literally half the price of Giant! It's amazing how many items you can get here for under a dollar! And the quality of their items is great! Plus there are many items I can only find here, like those 100 calorie packages of chocolate chip cookies that were discontinued by Nabisco! They have an awesome low fat caramel ice cream, great brioche hot dog rolls, and nicely sliced mini organic carrots. Sometimes their fruit isn't the best, but today it was outstanding! The people who work here are always super nice and helpful! I will send a message to management: please bring back those Light and Fit yogurt pretzels! They were such a great 100 calorie snack! I've always been a fan of Aldi and come to this location every week. I love their cheap prices and sometimes they have some interesting frozen items that they switch up every once in a while. The staff has always been very friendly to me. In terms of the place itself it feels a bit smaller compared to the other locations I have been to, but it's always clean and there are plenty of parking spaces here. The only issue I have is the checkout lines- it's usually just one person working at the checkout line even though they have like five lanes in total. So most of the time I have to wait a couple of minutes and as someone who is fairly impatient this does annoy me a bit. But other than that it's a nice grocery store read more

We have been hearing raving ads from Aldi. While in London we have had some decent experiences at this store. BUT what we have experienced with this store is saddening. The chicken breasts were marked at 1.49$ - which is what they rave about in their ads. Even though I noticed excessive amount of water on the tray I foolishly believed that once get rid of the water every thing is going to be fine. Once brought home I started searing the chicken, so I thought. But the chicken started gushing out water nonstop till it was completely immersed in water - boiling the chicken! I used to live in Europe,though I never liked German owned Aldi ( it is in my opinion, the bottom of the food store chains), but I thought I'd give the new Aldi in Falls Church a try. I went on a Sunday, first mistake. It was packed. Immediately, you're smacked with a smell of stale food. Strange, given that it is new. How long have their dry goods been sitting around. The prices are good and it is nice to see some familiar European brands but overall, not all Europeans product are better, just because they are European. Their vegetables are well priced but you have to dig for ones that have not already been manhandled. When we finally got to the register, we waited and waited, and waited. The young, all male cashiers were busier joking than minding what they were doing. We arrived to our turn and only had a handful of items. Two packages of bread, two boxes of risotto, and a bottle of pasta sauce. The cashier threw the grocery bag in a cart and then proceeded to throw the bread in and the boxes and bottle on top. When I said, " slow down your throwing every thing on top of the bag so I can't bag it and your damaging the bread." He turns to me and says "I can't slow down I have too many people". I explained to him that if he damages the products, the longer the process will take because I will go back and exchange it". He raised his voice and asks "is it ripped up, is it broken, is it?" I thanked him for his customer service and walked out as HE mocked me to the people on line behind me. Be careful, the prices might be okay, but you get what you pay for! The original merrifield mall I've been shopping at since high school years (1990s)... used to be Giant grocery when it was finally made into good use for budget consumers with debit, cash, and .25cents for grocery kart utilization.. like most Aldi commercial blueprints, the path to start shopping begins with least utilized food merchandises into preserved bargain displays (back side walls of grocery). I went on Opening Day and was given a free XL sustainable shopping bag and set of coupons to apply for transaction. The incentive was good. I remember Woolworth & Lothrop back in 1994 at Tyson's Corner Mall and the $1.00 per item prices was similar to Aldi! For $45 your cart is full. I have bought an $10 protein shake gallon tub, frozen antioxidant berries, and $3 affordable avocados for after Zumba class. The ONLY disadvantage of Aldi are location (traffic burden), hours of Op (8 AM-9PM) and I've forgotten to bring a quarter couple of times, so used the free XL grocery shopping bag logo. Love the $2 desert pies and $1 tuna for salad prep. They have a signature Gluten-free ingredient section and a new Elevation diet supplement pre/post gym items. Also why does a small sized grocery store sell trash cans, laundry baskets and devote an entire pallet to bagged flour? This location opened about a month ago and we have been going there once or twice a week since they opened. We have tried a wide assortment of foods from all D's and I would say 90% of them we enjoyed. I will agree that the meat does look questionable however we did purchase a small roasting chicken to cook and her instant pot and it was delicious. The registers move quickly and don't forget your quarter! If you go at night on the weekends it is not as busy if you go during the week. And don't let the other reviewer's deter you there is lots of parking in the parking lot you just have to be willing to walk. read more

I went in expecting something like Trader Joe's, and that is not what this place is like. Pros: -The products are fairly inexpensive. -There is a lot of space between isles (unlike some markets that give you very little space between isles). -There are different brands available. Cons: -Overall, it's a small store, and there is not a very big selection of products (especially the frozen foods - the frozen food section is very small). -You have to deposit a quarter to get a shopping cart because they have no one to retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot. You must return the cart if you want your quarter back. Who carries much spare change these days? -You have to pay for a bag to bag your own groceries. Ordered my groceries using their delivery service. Chose the option for them to take their time because it was busy. Thy informed me some groceries were out of stock so I changed them. About 3 hours after I ordered I get a notifIcation that delivery was complete and if I wanted to tip. I never received my groceries not sure why the driver didn't just let me know he couldn't find my place or was running late instead of lying and saying he completed the delivery. read more
