Realized my first ALDI experience was at this location several years ago. It didn't go well partly because I was new to ALDI and ALDI was a little different, think no shelves just boxes. Fast forward to Dec 2025 and ALDI is my favorite grocery chain and this location, while not my primary, is one I have enjoyed several times. Check out process. They make mistakes like overcharging me by $30 for a 2.49 lb pkg of ground sirloin. They used the $6.58 per pound price as the quantity and multiplied that by $6.58 the per lb. price, resulting in the $30 overcharge.. They have a non-existent customer service dept or phone number. They never have enough check-out personnel , clerks are stressed, lines are long. Prices good but check your receipts for errors even it is impossible to get them corrected. There are no self-checkouts at this Aldi. This leads to very long lines. Workers are friendly though. The aisles are pretty well stocked. Parking is easy in the provided lot. It's interesting that it's within a two minute drive of Lidl too so you can easily visit both in one trip. read more

This store has possibly the worst management of any of their stores. They leave carts filled with empty boxes on the aisles and even though they have 8 registers they never have more than 2 open? They don't have any self checkouts so a customer with just a few items has to wait in line behind customers purchasing for the week. Twice today I've tried purchasing and their lack of attention to customers waiting to check out is appalling! read more

Saw a male cashier disrespect a female customer in front of a store full of people by refusing to let her get into any of two checkout lines that were being opened claiming she was cutting the line even though others in the line had done the same. If Aldi is so strict about how people should line up they should create one clearly marked area for one line that feeds into the different registers like they have at Trader Joes. read more

Horrible management. My mom payed cash and the cashier refused to give her change or her receipt. The manager claimed he checked the camera but she never got her receipt. My aunt was there and she never saw them give her a receipt and when they finally gave her a receipt it was the wrong one from someone who paid with credit card. Just horrible. read more

I regularly shop at Aldi and we stop at new locations when running errands. It is still sad to add that the store was practicing safe social distancing. Most customers were following the arrows. All of Aldi's social media boasts that they no longer have customers switching carts when you are in line to pay for your items. I don't have any scientific data that says I will get "cooties" if I am given another cart when I am paying for my groceries. I am careful about hand washing & using hand sanitizer & cleaning off cart handles myself. What bugs me about all the articles about "we won't make you switch your cart in order to decrease the curve" is that not all the locations enforce it. If you don't practice that standard - just don't say you do. The produce isn't as quality as some of the other locations. I don't know if covid circumstances & possibly having less employees, etc contributes. The guarantee policy is different during covid. You can get a refund for bad produce (if you have your receipt & remind a manager about the policy) but the store doesn't allow returns on non perishables such as peanut butter (an example the cashier gave). I have never had a problem with peanut butter, however if it was not quality or something was wrong with it, I would want a refund or different jar. This location is conveniently located near a Walmart, Lidl & other stores. Grocery shopping used to be fun. Now it is just a necessity. read more

I do love shopping at Aldi and this particular location recently had a reopening for when they expanded a bit, making it a little more spacious. In my recent visits, I've enjoyed my shopping experience because I am usually able to find what I need and at reasonable prices, too. Every Wednesdays they start their weekly deals, so I try to schedule my grocery shopping mid-week in case they run out of their biggest sale items by the weekend. It's nice you can also get other things, like household items or home decor but they change them out every week, usually. I've also noticed that not all Aldi stores sell the same thing. For example, at this location I am able to buy Tikka Masala but I'm not able to get it somewhere else (at least from the other Aldi branch I've visited). Service has been good and the cashiers seem to work pretty fast. It just sucks that sometimes they open up like one lane and you have this long line of people waiting until they finally open up another register temporarily. For those not familiar with Aldi, you do have to pay 25 cents to use their shopping carts (but you do get it back when you return them); you need to bring your own bags but you may also use some of their boxes of they're available or you can purchase their brown paper/plastic bag at the register. And in case anyone is wondering, restrooms are located in the back, opposite of the entryway. There is a men and women only restroom but are single use. There is a changing table in the women's restroom but a heads up, the door does not lock so beware of someone actually walking in on you. Also, for some reason, the sink had no running water so I had to use the water fountain to rinse my hands. This is just about the biggest gripe I have about this Aldi store. read more

Aldi is a grocery chain that is sisters with Trader Joe's! The grocery carries limited brand names, mostly generic/Aldi-produced food items, as well as other specialty items. I am a fan of their baked goods and treats, baking ingredients (such as the cake mixes, sprinkles, and the frosting), their Happy Farms' soft cheeses, the Savoritz's Sea Salt Pita Crackers, the Moser Roth's Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch, as well as the party tubs of ice cream. Don't forget to bring your reusable grocery bags (as you would have to dish out a few more cents for the store's plastic ones). This place is a circus at the moment. 1. Its dirty. 2. "due to COVID 19 " someone decided that congregating all customers in one aisle in one line (dont ask for 6ft distance) is a great idea 3. Once everyone is patiently waiting in that line that at certain point stretches all the way to the end of the store, one of the cashiers decides that she will just let someone not in line go through her as a result bunch of angry customers demand to see store manager. I was curious and now I can cross this place off my list. I had heard that they had roses for like $3.99 for half a dozen! I was all over that price point. We arrived early one Sat morning and noticed that they don't open until 9:00AM. The shopping center is across the street from Mike's Great American Restaurant, an institution in Springfield. There's plenty of parking. Upon entering, I was amazed how all the food products appeared to be in their original cases. The place reminded me of a warehouse, but not like Shoppers because Shoppers has really upgraded their look. The other thing I noticed was that there not many 'name brands'. Yes, there is mayo and mustard but not companies that are present at Giant or Safeway. Yes, Aldi is owned by the same German company, the Albrecht family, as Trader Joes, BUT the look and feel is not that of Trader Joes. The staff was almost non-existent and never acknowledged us. It was not busy but apparently they were busy talking with each other. The store had just opened and the floor sweeper was all over the place forcing us to move aside every time his machine came down the rows. It's also bring your own bag here. Y'all, I'll admit that I've been sleeping in Aldis. My mistake! The prices cannot be beat. The produce selection is wide and the prices are so low. They have a decent selection of pantry items but they don't have a lot of "brands," so if you're particular about that, this might not be the stop for you. They also gave random home goods items that I've had good experiences with The store is pretty clean, but staff can be a bit hit or miss with professionalism. Oooh ooh oooh, can't stop squealing in excitement. This Aldi is the best I've been to in the entire region. It's spacious, has ample parking, and has a flow. Like all Aldi's you find non-traditional brands of snacks, cereals, chocolates and I am not complaining because they taste much better. While I don't patronize their frozen meats, I do buy a lot of wine here. They are well-curated and good value. I also pick out staples such as vegetables and fruits at solid bargains. Just remember to bring cash as they only take debit cards and cash. You'll need a quarter to take a cart out and you can get the quarter back when you put it back tidily where it belongs instead of shoving if off to the side of your car. Aldi has a lot of odd items on special sale in their middle aisles like baking trays, heating pads, and childrens' toys. I don't usually buy that stuff. However you never know when you might strike a bargain. They also have cleaning supplies and paper goods. The best part is all the great and unique holiday items from Germany. Wunderbar. read more

The first time I went into an Aldi store, I was kind of weirded out because I didn't recognize any of the brands. It seemed super sketchy so I left. Wow, how an opinion can change when you learn what is behind the store! I found that Aldi is owned by the same parent company as Trader Joes. For whatever reason, the fact that Trader Joes does not carry name brand items, never really bothered me. When I found they are the same company, I gave it another chance. This store location in relatively new so it has a much brighter presentation than some of the older stores. For starters, most things are less expensive than chain grocery stores. Milk varies between 1.49 and 2.49 a gallon, produce is less, hamburger is 2.49 a pound every day, and the list goes on. One of the best deals is the spice and baking aisle. Their spices are around a dollar a bottle and are the exact same product that is sold at Trader Joes, which is also cheaper than chain stores. They have a full calorie counter line as well as a full gluten free line. Their coffee is amazing, just like the quality coffee at Trader Joes! The other thing that is cool about Aldi is that they have a "stuff" aisle where you can find different bargains every time you go. This week I saw an enameled cast iron pot for 20 bucks! I picked up a set of four stemless wine glasses for 3.50. My word to you is if you see something you like, buy it because it most likely won't be there next time you go! This is the worst Aldi I have ever been I was in the line for over 15 minutes and than when its my turn I was told by the cashier that I have to take an other line to wait even more because he has to go and I was told that with attitude so I went for an other long line wait than the other cashier saw the incident she decline to let me take mushrooms canes saying that there is a limit knowing that I checked specifically before I put it in my cart if there is a limit and there was no sign for limiting the quantity. Good store tucked away in the shopping center across from McDonalds in Springfield. Layout and store are pretty good. Its smaller than some big Aldis but they still carry all the basic stuff they are known for. Greta prices but selection is mostly limited to most common goods. So they carry many fruits and vegetables but not less common ones. So will need to hit the Asian grocery store for those other less common items. The only negative is the checkout lines can get a little long. They do open another one up but may take a moment. Don't forget your quarter or bags. EDIT: Since this was written they have expanded the store. Still a little smaller than some but they have added more products and check out lines. Still a great place to shop and with the expansion more room to bag your groceries after paying. read more

I LOVE this Aldi. Lots of parking and great selection for just the usual things. They have some good prices and weekly sales. The thing that I love the most is Dorthy. She always greets everyone and always has a positive attitude. It's like you're speaking to a friend! She's always made my checkouts swift and enjoyable. If I have extra time on my hand I will stand in her line just so I can say hi. Love this lady! The complaints about how the store looks are just petty. Do you care if your doctor has nice paintings in the waiting room? No, you care about quality of service. In this case Aldi doesn't increase costs for you by having a speaker system to play pop music, or having to pay people just to bus carts. Plenty of parking. Quiet. Speedy checkout. Aldi is definitely a different kind of grocery store. It's the only time I had to do a little research before heading out to buy groceries. Some quick tips. 1) Bring a quarter since you need to put down a deposit for your shopping cart. 2) Be prepared to pay with either cash or a debit card. 3) Check out it super quick because the cashiers don't bag your items. There's a counter right past check where you can bag your items yourself. And you should plan on either bringing your own bags, paying for theirs, or grabbing some empty boxes off the shelves 4) Prices are generally really good because their quirky rules enable them to save money on staffing costs and because most items are generic. All that said, I wasn't blown away on produce prices or meat prices. They seem on par with all the local asian grocery stores (Fresh World, LA Mart, H Mart), but the selection is much smaller. Favorite find is probably their chocolate. Have a Moser Roth Orange & Almond bar next to me now. Since it's dark chocolate, a little goes a long way, and for $2, it's a great deal. Otherwise, most of the items seem pretty decent. I've mostly been going when I want to grab some snacks or freezer items for quick meals. read more

Oh how I love thee! I have been a customer for goodness knows how long! I seriously cannot live without the inexpensive produce and dairy this place offers. Granted, not all Aldi are created equal. I've noticed that a lot of the locations for Aldi are in depressed strip malls (however, there are some that are new built constructions in their own lots). However, let's get to the prices. Yes, it's inexpensive! Yes, there are tons of organic too! Yes, the produce is super fresh! Did I say it's CHEAP? Shhhh, please keep this secret from those who shop religiously at WF and pay $5.99 for a quart for strawberries and $6 for a gallon of organic milk. The weekly ad comes out every Wednesday and usually you can find grapes at around $1/lb, blueberries for 99 cents to 1.99/pint, strawberries from 99 cents to 1.99/quart, kiwis (box of 9 around $2.49), bananas 44 cents/lb, mangos (59 cent/each), baby spinach ($1.49/bag), broccoli bunch ($1.49), baby honeygold potatoes ($2.99/3 lbs), organic soy milk ($2.19/ 1/2 gal), organic milk ($3.99/ 1/2 gal), creamer ($3.69/ 1/2 gal). I can go on and on about the pricing! Even the staples such as sugar, salt, flour are incredibly low! Their store brand items are amazing. Most of the time you cannot tell the difference. They have weekly items that changes such as rose bushes, yard gloves, trees one week and the next week could be Cinco de Mayo themed products. Plus, no bonus cards, no forgetting to add the coupons onto your add. You do have to purchase bags or bring your own reuable bags and bag your own purchases. It is no frills, a few aisles and limited varieties of items (seriously, do you really need a gazillion types of mustard!?!). And don't forget that quarter to "rent" your shopping cart! I have heard of Aldi, but never set foot into one until now. This Aldi replaces the hardware store that used to be at this spot. I thought that the layout is different than most grocery stores that I have been to. The aisles are parallel to the store front window as oppose to perpendicular. The items are limited and they stick to the basic at low prices. I didn't get a chance to browse around, but I'm pretty sure that you can get all of your basic grocery needs here if you are not picky about brands. I didn't see any staff members on the floor of the store assisting customers or stocking items. The only interaction that I had was with the cashier. I like that they provide chairs for the cashiers to sit as oppose to standing for their entire shift like most stores. They only accept cash or debit card. Bring your own bags or you you can buy their reusable bags. The cashier does not bag the grocery, but they have an area right after the cashier where you can bag your items. read more

I read some of the reviews below to see why this place has such poor ratings, and I realized it's because people don't want to be creative or try new things. So here, let me give you a few tips. First off, I love Aldi. I love the brand, the way most stores are laid out and how easy it is to shop here. Yes, not all Aldis are the same, some are cleaner, more organized, and have more variety, but are pretty similar for the most part. My first tip to those who don't want to dish out 25 cents for the shopping cart is you don't have to! Unless you're doing one of those shopping trips where you're buying for a family of 6 and want to feed them for a whole month, then yes, you're gonna have to live with renting the cart for 25 cents and getting the quarter back when you return the cart. For the rest of us who are on casual grocery trips, like getting eggs, milk, and a few other items, just walk in and help yourself to the empty cardboard boxes that the produce are placed in. Think of it like how you shop at Costco, at the end of the trip, you pack all your grocery into a cardboard box and return the cart, same deal! This is what I do on 95% of my trips. The employees are constantly removing the empty boxes, so sometimes you'll even find a pile of boxs in a crate laying around the store. They encourage you to use less plastic because their philisophy stands with sustainable living and trying to improve the environment. Second: Aldi does not carry generic brands like Jiff or Kraft. This is how they are able to offer you the products at a lower price. It does NOT mean that the products don't taste as good just because it's not the same brand you are used to. You'll be surprised if you give them a chance. I went on a whim once and bought a bag of discounted chips, they were Clancy's Cassava chips, and they were probably one of the best chips I've ever had. Of course they were a seasonal item so I haven't been able to find them since. But they were soo good!! Also, if you're a gardener, their Gardenline products are really great quality. P.S. I'm a big avocado lover and Aldi has the cheapest avocado you can find. In the summer, they can be as low as 49 cents per avocado. They were big with small seeds so you get optimal flesh. read more

This place has many pros and just a few cons. Cheapest produce in town, specially the "products of the day". Just make sure to check them carefully because sometimes the fruit is spoiled (grapes, strawberries, mandarines). Items that I like buying here besides produce: Kerrigold cheeses and butter Burrata cheese (haven't seen it in a while) Dates (great quality, priced just a bit cheaper than TJs) Apple sauce Taco shells Tomato sauce/paste Beans Organic whole milk yogurt (great price!) Cottage cheese Natural Orange juice Coconut water (one of the brands very low price and great flavor) Organic range free eggs( similar price to Costco) My kids love their croissants, fig cookies and glazed donuts (haven't seen these in a while). Cons: Something I don't like is that they just stop bringing items that are favorites without any notice. Also, for parents with small kids, the parking/cart situation is not convenient. The prices in this location are a little higher than at other locations. Some of their products like nuts and cold cuts aren't good. I am so delighted to have an Aldi near where I live :) If you're shopping on a budget (or just shopping smart), it is such a win! I went in yesterday, and got 95% of what was on my list (including grass-fed beef and wild, pole-caught tuna) to last me the next 2 weeks. The total? Not quite $50. I've never had an issue with rude employees - one checkout lady even wished my fiance and me "a blessed day". Yes, it's unconventional. This is my absolute favorite Aldi. They are always stocked to the gills with food and people tend to forget the store exists so I always go here when there is a BMTP warning (aka a Winter Storm Warning) to get my bread, milk, and toilet paper. Since the store is in Virginia you can get alcohol - they have a nice selection of wine, beer, cider, and other spirits like Bailey's. My favorite thing would have to be their line of grain free dog food and treats - my dog Dude absolutely loves the salmon and sweet potato kibble. I can stick up for a month on food not including meat and fresh vegetables for about $200 for 3 adults and the aforementioned dog. I get my meat at Costco along with my fresh veggies or I will pop in to my local Aldi in Brandywine for them. The fresh stuff can tend to not last long but Aldi will refund and replace your items if you're not happy. read more

Went Sunday, January 21, 2018 mid afternoon. Remember to bring your own bags or pay for store bags, a quarter of you want to use the cart. Visit to store should be fairly quick after several visits and being familiar with concept and layout of store. I think it's cool and pick up some items typically forget or not want to pay the premium for. This is my first visit to this location. I've been to the Woodbridge location once. The wife typically goes to Aldi and get the things we need. This Sunday visit to the backlick road location was fine. Enter produce section and saw 1 mouse finding its way and running towards me across the way. Beware of the items you pick up and check the packaging!!! I've been to the one in Woodbridge and loved it but I stopped going there because I moved to springfield. I was excited to be able to go back and grab groceries there. Good place to grab groceries for a good price. It's not like a giant but it's good for certain stuff. BRING YOUR OWN BAGS! so you don't have to pay. But at this location the customer service sucks. My mother and I were rushed and yelled at. There was only one person doing me the cashier and she rushed everyone and was rude to everyone in line. It seem like she didn't want anyone in the store. And the debit card machine was down. So they were basically asking people to leave. Other than the people working there, the stores great. read more

Everything is usually really fresh but you have to get there early before everything is picked over. We have to drive 30 minutes to get there but its worth it everytime to do so! Not a bad store. You can make a quick trip for the essentials without getting knocked around in the aisles by other customers as is the case in some of the other small groceries in this area.
