After several years of unsuccessfully trying to start my vegetable garden from seeds, I'm now a convert to Nalls' seedlings, and I especially love getting seedlings of lettuce and other greens here in the early spring. Last year I bought some watercress and mustard greens, which tickled my itch to try new-to-me traditional vegetables. If you're getting plants here, check out the Budding Gardeners Facebook group run by Nalls. You can get support and advice on your plants after you get them in the ground without going back to the store. I'll also add that every Nalls employee I've interacted with, including all the young seasonal employees, have been truly so nice. A+ hiring, right here. Nalls is also a great place to get some native plants, such as Virginia bluebells. However, they still stock some nasty invasives, such as vinca. I'm currently battling long-standing patches of vinca and English ivy in my yard and am surprised and sad that otherwise reliable nurseries still stock them. Get rid of those, and I'll happily give y'all 5 stars.

I'd say probably about 80% of the vendors are staples and there's about 20% new or seasonal vendors. Some of my favorites include the pretzel stand, fruit and tomato stand ($20 per bucket!), the paleta hand trucks and the one or two bakeries. I love supporting local. Plus, all the vendors above are super friendly and I love interacting with them on a weekly basis. As for prepared food (besides the pretzels), I'll be honest, I think most are pretty overpriced and I don't think anything stands out. We've tried a few food trucks and stands but it's been kind of disappointing every time. I'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised. I think the empanada stand is probably the best prepared food I've tried but I get it only once in a while (the line can be super long). The vibes are great. I think URBN Market has organized a fantastic weekly market at Mosaic and I love the seasonal event weekends too. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

This is the big local farmers market. There's plenty of parking, since the market is set up next to a large commuter garage. More and more vendors take credit cards as the years go by, until now I think it might be all of them. Many, many small children are here, but plenty of people without children as well. You do have to pass the political tent gauntlet on your way out of the garage, and the guy with his guitar caterwauling every week.

All that said, it has became a pandemic happy place for me because I can get fresh fruits and veggies, plants, honey, and herbs as well as bread, coffee, desserts, Mediterranean goodies, and Latin American eats. I look forward to enjoying an almond pastry with warm coffee as I carry fresh bread, tomatoes, empanadas with spicy sauce, and garlic whip to my car. We saw lots of families with adorable wagons with kids, holding their treasured pumpkins or produce of choice...just a perfect easy stop for fall fun and stunning colors, worth a trip for sure!
