Ordered carryout for brunch. Hubs got eggs with corned beef hash, toast, and home fries and I got the savory crêpes which has scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, and a cheddar cheese sauce. Not wanting the cheddar cheese sauce, I asked for it on the side so I could at least taste it but not doused on my food and they literally gave me a side of the sauce while still putting it on my crêpes. Food was ready in a jiffy and both dishes were yummy, but the hubs ate his before I could take a pic. Minus a star for not following a customer request because it could be a dietary or allergy restriction so it's crucial to follow a customer's request. Jannet was, without a doubt, the worst waiter we have ever dealt with. We came in for a simple breakfast, and somehow she managed to ruin the entire experience. The steak she brought out wasn't just undercooked--it was completely raw, like it had barely touched the grill. It was disgusting and absolutely inedible. Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, Jannet acted annoyed that we even pointed it out, as if serving raw food was somehow acceptable. Then came the bill, which was the final insult. She charged us $30 for two chocolate milks and one apple juice--an outrageous amount that made no sense at all. When we questioned it, she didn't explain or apologize; she just gave us attitude. On this Sunday afternoon I was greeted at the door, order taken immediately. Both the music (pop, rock, R&B, and country) and decor is early '60s. Ordered patty melt with provolone and fries. Server apologized for bringing it with cheddar and began to set it in front of me. I asked her to change it, which she did. Waited for about 5 min and she returned with burger. Side of spinach was bland and unseasoned, but I needed my veggie serving, so I ate them. Good single patty with double cheese. Fries were good, too. Section where I sat was empty, surprised my server only checked on me once in 15 min. I had to wave her down that I needed more water. Will probably go to another diner next time. read more

I love retro diners and visited Juke Box April 11, 24. I ordered a chicken sandwich with onion rings. I was expecting a nice chicken breast on toast. I got what looked like chicken nuggets, but shaped round like a donut and cut in 4 pieces. I guess this would have worked had I ordered a regular bun, but I did not want the extra bread. The chicken nuggets were ok, but chewy. The display was appealing, but too messy to eat like a sandwich, so I used a knife and folk. Prices are optimal, given inflation, their menu is very affordable compared to similar American restaurants. Service - the servers are efficient and nice. They take orders, serve the food and make sure everything is ok. Ambience - they did some renovation this year and upgraded the juke box (it's digital now). It has been many years since I've had the time to stop by Jukebox Diner, and I am glad to see that it is as warm and welcoming as it ever was. Some restaurants make you feel almost like you are a burden for them, but not here. Every member of the staff is friendly, providing the neighborhood atmosphere that has been lost somehow in the age of big chain restaurants. Jukebox has the classic diner decor and an expansive menu spanning from all day American breakfast to sandwiches to burgers to dinner platters, with even some international dishes here and there. Prices post-COVID have skyrocketed at many restaurants, but Jukebox has somehow kept the increases (if any) reasonable. My recommendation is that you share some of that savings from eating at other establishments with the server...to keep this local business running for many more years to come! On this visit, I ordered the Graceland Breakast Combo. It was the perfect option for me as I was both hungry and indecisive...so, many options in one :-). The scrambled eggs (mixed with cheese on request) were better than many places as they were packed with flavor (a sign of using quality eggs) without milk filler to artificially fluff them up. The meats were all top notch...although their bacon is not quite the "Goldilocks Bacon" that I seek at Breakfast spots, it was pretty solid...more crunchy than chewy. The pancakes and French Toast were also solid and filling...like grandma used to make. I will definitely be returning soon...even if just for a cup of coffee or something, it's nice to go somewhere where you are made to feel at home. read more

My husband and I live in Annandale and pass by this diner often. We always say we are going to stop by and finally, we did. We both enjoy a good throwback diner and Juke Box fits that theme to a tee. The staff are super friendly and you can tell within moments, there is a return crowd dedicated to this diner. We came by on a Sunday for an early dinner and milkshakes and they did not disappoint. The chocolate milkshake and root beer float (brown cow), were both really tasty. We ordered the hummus platter to start and then two different burgers for entrees. I ordered the Egg and Burger with a fried egg on top and it was really freakin' good. My husband ordered the Mighty Joe burger and he said it was great. Came here on a random weekend and wasn't disappointed. The wait staff was nice, I didn't have to wait to get a seat, and it was a nice experience. Got the Country Fried Steak w/ Eggs and was exactly what you would expect from a classic diner. Food was good, and would be happy to try other dishes. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars for me, was the the restaurant was a bit dirty. Part of it maybe was the fact I just missed the morning rush? They got my food out to me pronto. Got a savory crepe and a double shot of espresso. The crepe was ok, better than anything I could make at home, but I'm from New England so I've got high standards. The espresso was strong and bitter, just how I like it. Best part is I got out of there under $20 (before tip of course). Which in the DMV is almost unheard of. What happened to the Juke Box Diner in Annandale? My wife and I have been loyal customers for just about 30 years. We would have breakfast in the diner and order delivery for dinner. The staff would even know our order or our favorite table as we walked in the door. The service and food WAS fantastic. The service was great, as Janet has always been. We went this morning for breakfast and boy am I sorry. I felt really bad telling Janet the food was awful, and I had to send it back. The coffee tasked like cheap hotel coffee; it was undrinkable. The Belgen Waffle was just nasty. The task was, well brand X. The butter was very yellow, low quality. The syrup tasted like colored sugar water. The jelly packets on the table were an unknown brand. My Sunday was kind of up in the air, and I was feeling antsy and suggested to my friend to meet for lunch. She threw out Juke Box as an idea, and I was sold on that as I vaguely remembering liking it about 5 years earlier. Our server was relatively new. She wasn't the most efficient, but she was very kind and wanted to help us with our orders; so she was a positive addition. Remembering another diner in northern VA, going Greek often a good strategy. I went with the gyro with fries. The fries were the right amount of crisp and delicious being superior to the gyro, which was solid. My only compliant about the gyro was that it was a little small. The value wasn't great for what I got; I think it might've been $12 or so. We ended up spending like 6.5 hours there as a couple of other friends joined us for games! She kept coming around to see how we were doing and water refills, which I appreciated. We tipped well, and I would consider Juke Box a good viable option. My K review will also be a diner, where I got a gyro. read more

It's been a long time since I ate at Juke Box Diner but popped in there recently. The good--the space was clean, bright, and our server was great. My son completely enjoyed his chicken tenders and fries, though to me the tenders looked more like nuggets in terms of size. I had the patty melt, which was the bad. The bread was buttered and grilled perfectly. However, the patty itself was a tad overcooked and dry for me. The onions were lightly sauteed but mostly still holding their form--I usually expect them to be much softer if not caramelized. The worst part was the lack of cheese. In the past I've had it w/ either swiss or provolone. This one had some shredded cheddar, I think, but it was hard to tell since there was so little of it and it wasn't even completely melted. It's right there in the name! If I wasn't already hangry I wouldn't have finished it. It was one of those situations where it left me craving a real patty melt as this one didn't hit the spot or satisfy that craving. I wouldn't go back for a melt again but I'd go back again as previous experiences have also been positive and the food better than this last go. read more

What Happened? A year ago, I wrote a rave review for the Juke Box Diner - today 6/10/24, not so much. The service at this family-owned diner was as friendly and jovial as ever but the food was forgettable. The hash browns were mildly warm, even when sent back once. The toast on both our BLTs were burned, although the bacon, lettuce and tomato were good. My husband had to chase a waiter into the kitchen for mayonnaise for my daughter's burger, which she did say was good. Her "side salad" was huge but tasteless. The only really good things in our meal were the homemade chicken and rice soup and the absolutely amazing brownie hot fudge sundaes loaded with whipped cream and a cherry. So - if you want to eat somewhere else and come here for a fabulous dessert - this is the place! Forget eating here, though - it's changed - and not for the better! read more

This is the place to go if you want a traditional American diner. Food was great and the service was even better. It's rare to find a restaurant with good service these days but this place has it. Waiters anticipate your needs and are constantly coming by. It was our first time there but the waiters seemed to know the other folks and had conversations with them like they were long-time patrons.
