That's a great name: Milk and Honey. But I don't know if there's anything else great about this restaurant. I came in at noon on a weekday. The first thing I noticed was a couple of dirty serving trays that had been flung on a table inside the front door. Peering further inside the eatery, I saw two tables with people seated. There was no staff to greet me. I waited maybe 3 minutes before a gal in a blue restaurant-issued shirt came out of the back and acknowledged me. She was nice enough and seated me with a menu. She then disappeared back into the back. It was so dark in the restaurant I had to use my iPhone flashlight to see the menu. I saw a few menu items that did interest me. I scoped on the chicken and waffles and decided that was what I was going to order. But the price of $26 for this dish wasn't sitting well with me. When several minutes had lapsed and there was no staff to take my order, I just up and left. But I really should have known better. There used to be a Milk and Honey on Richmond Hwy near my house. The one time I went to that location there was a worker there sitting in a corner playing with her phone that didn't want to help me place my order. That location did go out of business. read more

I wish I had taken some pictures, but the food was so yummy that we dug in right away! Presentation was attractive and appetizing. Food was well cooked and tasty. I had the seafood gumbo, which needed a little bit of salt and the rice was a tiny bit uncooked. But other than that, everything else was amazing. The catfish sandwich was so crispy on the outside yet moist and tender on the inside. The chicken and waffles was delicious! So was the traditional breakfast. Everyone loved what they ordered. Portions were large, which gave great value for the price. When we first saw the prices, we thought it was a little expensive. But when we saw the portions, we understood. I left pretty disappointed with my experience at Milk & Honey in Springfield. The food was just okay and definitely didn't live up to the hype or the prices. The one positive was that our server was friendly and provided good service. What really ruined the experience was the misleading membership promotion. I signed up because the website clearly advertised a $10 off coupon for joining, but when it was time to pay, I was told I couldn't use it. If you're going to advertise a benefit to get people to sign up, you should honor it. Otherwise, it feels like a bait-and-switch. Between the average food and the refusal to honor the advertised offer, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. This location is fairly new so wasn't sure how busy it would be. Made reservations just in case. It wasn't busy, got seated quickly by the friendly hostesses. The dining area was elegant yet casual and very clean. Our server came by quickly. She was attentive throughout. We ordered the steak and eggs, the crispy salmon hash and the tail of two fish. All of our dishes were delicious! The fish was fried and seasoned perfectly. Grits were creamy. The salmon was fried well and did not taste greasy, hash with the cream sauce was yummy. Steak was cooked as ordered and tender; eggs cooked over medium as ordered as well. Terrible experience! We are so sad because it was our first time there and we were celebrating an anniversary. Well our server was training and DID NOT care at all. The service was beyond awful. She came to our table twice. Once to grab our order and 45 minutes later to have us pay. Didnt check to see if we liked the food, if we needed refills nothing. Nothing at all. Didnt tell us that they ran our of eggs until we got our order. I asked the host for a manager which she then replies we have no manager here right now. It was truly the most insane thing ever. Customer Service- excellent. Shelby was our waitress and she was super sweet and friendly. Service- There are a few kinks to work out, as I understand this location is new. Utensils should be brought out with the menus. We witnessed 3 other tables asking for utensils, as well as ourselves. Of course they were brought out shortly after asking, but that should be a no-brainer. Our food came out before we had utensils. Same with the other tables. In addition, we ordered two drinks from the bar, both which came out after our food was almost finished. So, it could just be a timing issue. Location is perfectly situated in the Cardinal Forest shopping plaza. We opted to sit outside and the ambience in and out was very nice. Food- we opted for the deep fried salmon hash, which is the normal go to. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The sauce was on the runnier side, but it still tasted great. We checked out the new location in Springfield and the inside is beautiful! The food had great flavor and the biscuits were the perfect texture. The only downside was slow service, but it was the opening, so I can understand some growing pains. I went on a Monday for an early lunch (11am) with a guest. The place was empty ~ perhaps due to the snowstorm overnight. For me, this was a one and done visit. Besides the side of potatoes and the honey jam I got after asking for jelly on the dry toast provided, nothing comes to mind as excellent. I'm also biased as I abhor getting asked to write an excellent review, for a piece of cake no less. Ask me for a review, that's why I'm on Yelp, but let the experience dictate the rating, not the waitress. On the good side at least two people checked in during our meal. Had dinner here tonight. The food was just really average. We started with the biscuits, which were not hot. It was served with cold butter, a terrible combination. If the biscuits aren't going to be hot, the butter should at least be room temperature so you can spread it. I had the shrimp and grits with sausage. No big complaints, it just didn't knock my socks off. My mom had the chicken and waffles. They were just okay. I didn't like that the fried chicken was boneless. It's like the difference between a fried drumstick and a chicken tender. I had Astro Beer Hall's chicken and waffles last weekend, and that was heads and shoulders better. Music is overly loud, too loud for conversation. During dinner service around 5pm the place was completely empty and service still took over 25 minutes to come to the table. Water glasses given but no water. For some reason they insist on having a brunch menu all throughout the summer, but if you want something off the dinner menu you have to ask to "see if they can make it". read more

A 5;30 reservation for 7. no silverware, dirty plates, wait staff just sitting by the front door, only 3 plates brought to the table, the other 2 sandwiches 20 minutes later, than we had salmon and grits ordered that she put in as some salmon and collards that looked awful and tasted worse. Food was not great and the service was awful. They then took back the 2 dishes and said here are 2 other dishes but they were someone elses gumbo and shrimp dish. The waitress was not only clueless but dismissive. She finally saw my scowl and said oh yeah those 2 dishes that we gave you that were wrong both times we will comp you for the other ones but you will have to wait 45 more minutes. needless to say skip it.
