I visited Milk & Honey for brunch for the first time and was overall impressed by the atmosphere and ambiance. The space has a warm, inviting vibe that makes it a nice spot to relax and catch up with friends. I made a reservation and was accommodated immediately, which set a positive tone for the experience. The menu offers a wide range of options, and it was a bit of a hard choice. I ultimately settled on the chicken and waffles, which was a solid pick. The flavor of the dishes I tried wasn't bad at all; the food tasted good and had a comforting brunch profile. However, there were a few consistency issues that stood out during our visit: The biggest drawback was that the food arrived not hot, but warm. Even my coffee was served cold, and my honey latte, while flavorful, was lukewarm. While the service staff were extremely friendly, we did experience some lapses in getting items we requested. We had to remind the server about coffee for one guest, ensure everyone had the water we asked for, and confirm orange juice for my child. I wouldn't write Milk & Honey off as a bad spot, but the little details matter a lot for a brunch experience. If they can tighten up the kitchen temp consistency and improve attentiveness (getting drinks and water refills out promptly), this place could really shine. Would I return? Possibly, given the atmosphere and menu variety, but I'd hope for improved heat consistency and smoother service on a return visit. If you go, I'd suggest arriving with a little extra time to settle in and keep an eye on drink refills and timing.

My friend and I met for brunch around 10 a.m. on a Tuesday, and unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience. The lighting inside was extremely dim--so much so that we could barely see our food. We were also told that they weren't serving lattes or espresso because their machine was broken, which was disappointing for a brunch spot. My friend ordered the avocado toast, and it didn't taste right. Because it was so dark inside, we used our iPhone flashlight and noticed the avocado was brown. When we brought it up to our waitress, she tried to explain that brown avocado is normal and it tastes better that way. We disagreed and asked for a new one. The replacement looked much fresher and tasted better, which confirmed our concern. It was our first time visiting, and overall, it was a disappointing experience.

The family and I can here for brunch on. Saturday to celebrate a birthday and we enjoyed our experience! Definitely recommend making a reservation for ease of getting seating, our reservation was a noon and it was already pretty busy inside. Service was efficient, our server was a gem. She checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I loved the music was giving us a vibe which added to the ambience. Our food was tasty! Highly recommended the Steak and Eggs! Also do yourself a favor and get an order of biscuits! We even took some home! All in all, I'd come back again!

Portions | Comprehensive | New Portions: The portions here are very generous--you definitely get your money's worth. I typically finish my meal 90-95% of the time, but I only made it halfway through my chicken and waffles. Come hungry; you'll need the appetite. The serving sizes alone make this spot a strong value. Comprehensive: The space is large and lively, offering a bit of everything--a full bar with drinks and mocktails, TVs, and even art on the walls that appears to be for sale. The menu is equally extensive, covering a wide range of food and drink options. However, there might be too much going on. The tables are tightly packed, making it difficult to move without bumping into other guests or décor. The noise level was also quite high, which made conversation at our table challenging at times. New: This is a newer location for the restaurant (their original is in Old Town Alexandria), and it shows--they're still working through some growing pains. Our server was kind but couldn't answer several menu questions and seemed a bit overwhelmed. The payment system also had some glitches. That said, the food came out impressively fast, which balanced things out. Why Not Five Stars? A combination of slow service, tight seating, loud atmosphere, and operational hiccups keeps this from a full five-star experience--for now. I'll be back early next year to see if things have smoothed out, because the food quality and portions make it worth another visit. Pro Tips: - 15% military discount--a great perk. - Plenty of parking available. - they have women owned beverages that are annotated on their wine/drink list. Which is an interesting highlight.

This location is fairly new so wasn't sure how busy it would be. Made reservations just in case. It wasn't busy, got seated quickly by the friendly hostesses. The dining area was elegant yet casual and very clean. Our server came by quickly. She was attentive throughout. We ordered the steak and eggs, the crispy salmon hash and the tail of two fish. All of our dishes were delicious! The fish was fried and seasoned perfectly. Grits were creamy. The salmon was fried well and did not taste greasy, hash with the cream sauce was yummy. Steak was cooked as ordered and tender; eggs cooked over medium as ordered as well. We are looking for a restaurant to host our son's graduation dinner next year and this location is definitely on our list to consider!

Customer Service- excellent. Shelby was our waitress and she was super sweet and friendly. Service- There are a few kinks to work out, as I understand this location is new. Utensils should be brought out with the menus. We witnessed 3 other tables asking for utensils, as well as ourselves. Of course they were brought out shortly after asking, but that should be a no-brainer. Our food came out before we had utensils. Same with the other tables. In addition, we ordered two drinks from the bar, both which came out after our food was almost finished. So, it could just be a timing issue. Location is perfectly situated in the Cardinal Forest shopping plaza. We opted to sit outside and the ambience in and out was very nice. Food- we opted for the deep fried salmon hash, which is the normal go to. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The sauce was on the runnier side, but it still tasted great. Definitely have high hopes for this restaurant. With more time, im sure all the kinks will be worked out. Thanks again, Shelby!!!

We checked out the new location in Springfield and the inside is beautiful! The food had great flavor and the biscuits were the perfect texture. The only downside was slow service, but it was the opening, so I can understand some growing pains. They have a bar area and table seating, and it looked like it was already getting busy but the time we left at 1030.

I highly recommend Milk & Honey! They know hospitality, service, and food! Their selection is beautifully presented. The food doesn't only look good! Trust me - everything they brought out tasted fantastic! And I rarely say something is fantastic. That's my highest mark of measure! I put this restaurant on my "Must come back" list. Again and again!! Love this place!

Had dinner here tonight. The food was just really average. We started with the biscuits, which were not hot. It was served with cold butter, a terrible combination. If the biscuits aren't going to be hot, the butter should at least be room temperature so you can spread it. I had the shrimp and grits with sausage. No big complaints, it just didn't knock my socks off. My mom had the chicken and waffles. They were just okay. I didn't like that the fried chicken was boneless. It's like the difference between a fried drumstick and a chicken tender. I had Astro Beer Hall's chicken and waffles last weekend, and that was heads and shoulders better. We were hoping this could be our soul food go-to replacement for Della J's, but the soul was lacking.

Solid 4 stars! Drinks are on point! Food coming out of the kitchen all looks mouthwatering. The Crispy Calamari was the best I've had in years. Decor is nice! Service is great. Great hip music playing at hit the right volume level. Great place for large groups gathering after work.

Good is amazing, I got the shrimp and grits and they were amazing, the best I've had. The biscuits were good, but I must preferred the squid. The service was pretty good and quick.

8 pieces of chicken that comes in the family meal. Awful!

The picture speaks for itself. The cocktail was good and the service was great. The atmosphere was sexy and the music was good. Just the right volume, this time. Can be a bit loud at other times I've stopped in for takeout.

While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.

As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.

There was a woman (maybe a manager or owner) who walked around to every table asking if things were okay. I ordered three chicken wings (they were oversized - not my preference), potato salad, black eyed peas and one piece of cornbread. The chicken lacked flavor. It was just big and kind of greasy. The sides were fine. Ordered a piece of sweet potato pie to go and that was fine. The jazz contained a lot of talking. It was nice when they started playing line dancing music and there was a small area to dance. The dancing wasn't offensive or in the way...it was just right. Then came more talking. And advertising of a cruise, etc. It was okay, but I wish they played more music than talking. The same night, the restaurant attempted to charge me for a missed reservation fee ($5 per person). Luckily, I keep my AMEX locked. Weird, I gave my name to the hostess upon check-in. Wonder if that's happened to others. All-in-all, it was an okay experience. Unfortunately, all the fast food places have dismal reviews except for two in this area. Plus, most of them are closed at that time. This is how we found Southern Style Chicken & Waffle. It closes at midnight and has southern food, my husband's favorite type of home style food. He loves mama's casseroles and mac and cheese due to being raised in the Deep South. It, also, had one of his favorite foods: waffle. Plus it is on the way. We head out there and notice an almost empty strip mall. Creepy but the neon sign said it was open. The place was empty & clean yet the opening of the door sent an alert ring for the staff to come out. I was impressed that you could have a waffle as a side with some of the entrees. I was tempted to order fried chicken until I saw the catfish on the menu. I ordered it with a side of mac and cheese to give to the job cap. He ordered the chicken sandwich with mac n cheese. We got it as takeout. The portions they give you are huge when compared to other fast food places. I got three large catfish fillets and a giant side of mac and cheese for $13.49. I wish I had ordered a larger portion after tasting the catfish fillet. You could instantly taste how it was prepared fresh - definitely not frozen. The fish was light ,succulent, and had a melt in your mouth texture. This is not the catfish you ate at a church fish fry. This catfish is exponentially better. The chicken sandwich was two chicken patties in a sandwich similar to chick fil a sandwich. I tasted it and thought it was better. My husband preferred chick fil a though. He really loved my catfish and my mac and cheese. I gave him all the mac and cheese. I split my three catfish fillets into two meals. Service was great. The server told us the catfish was Asian catfish and served it to me the way he preferred it: side of lemon with seasoning sauces on the side . He gave us a heads up that they cook the food fresh and it would take 15 minutes. We didn't mind the wait and waited patiently. We will definitely come back and order catfish, waffles, mac and cheese, and fried chicken when we come here. This is one our favorite late night go see fast food places. Like any breakfast places, it's quick, it's cheap, and affordable at a reasonable price. I went with what was comfort for me; Country Fried Steak with Scrambled Eggs and Hash Browns with White Toast. The sausage gravy that the used on the Country Fried Steak? It elevates it to a whole new level. Eggs tasted buttery, and Hash Browns crispy with a nice side of grease coming to it. I can't really complain because this is something I eat once in a while but it's my guilty pleasure. Overall, you can't go wrong with Bob & Edith's. They are just open at any time and you are rest assured that your breakfast will be good as mine.
