We had such a wonderful experience at Mike's American Restaurant! We arrived as three separate parties, and although we were initially seated downstairs, the staff and management went above and beyond to make sure we could all enjoy our meal together. As soon as a table became available between us upstairs, they proactively moved one of our parties so that we could all sit together. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and it really made our gathering special. The customer service was outstanding from start to finish. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great experience. The food was absolutely incredible--everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The drinks were just as impressive, with a great selection and expertly made. It's not often you find a restaurant that delivers exceptional food, amazing drinks, and customer service that truly goes the extra mile. Ok peoples...so yesterday I randomly felt like treating my son and myself to dinner. And I will say Mike's American did not disappoint. Soon as you walk in through the revolving door, you are greeted with a wood fire grill aroma that makes your sense of smell scream omg what is that and I'll take 2 please. There was no wait time, we were instantly seated at a small both for two. And yes the seats are comfortable. I would have loved to be seated next the the staircase because it has some nice sight lines. The restaurant is so clean and nicely decorated as if you stepped into a homey yet lux cabin restaurant. It just feels....comforting. There were a lot of people dining here but the noise level was surprisingly minimal. The service is impeccable. Every waiter was attentive. Someone even asked us if we wanted another drink when our glasses were full. Never in my life has that happen to me. Lol The server was very knowledgeable about everything and left me to decided between all the wonderful options they offer. And they have OPTIONS. I heard the steak is banging. I'll be back... Now let's talk about these Ozzie dinner rolls. Bomb! End of story. And in my Nike voice....Just do it. In other words stuff your face and get some to go. I got blessed with 2 baskests and a bag to go. Won't he do it. My son enjoyed his little Mac aka his burger and fries but was too full to finish the fries because he stuff his face with Ozzie dinner rolls. So be careful yall. You have been warned. I orderer the pecan trout which was a very interesting take on baked fish and yet it was still good. I'm not raving about it. But it was good. Nice thing is they give you to pieces of trout 1 for now and 1 for later because yes I stuffed my face with those darn Ozzie rolls. Just dined here with my husband, everything was wonderful! Our server Brynna was excellent! Personable, positive, attentive, just fantastic! My husband had the Bacon cheeseburger, 10 out of 10! I had the chicken tenders with coleslaw and sweet potato fries, again a 10 out of 10! Green tomato appetizer, good but a little different. I prefer a New Orleans style. Great draft beer selection! We really enjoyed our meal, and Brynna was one of the servers we have encountered. Another solid restaurant in the Great American Restaurant chain. Mike's is located in Springfield. They have their own parking lot but it gets consistently full. You can park at the shipping strip across the street. Menu at Mike's hasn't changed for quite some time but entrees are solid. Daily specials does offer different kinds of fish. Steak comes with salad and are tasty. GAR restaurants prepare the best salmon I ever had. Cooked to your liking and never fishy. There's a nominal charge of $1 for the bread basket but this is well worth it as their Ozzie rolls are amazing. read more

My s/o and I are big fans of Mike's American for their consistency in their food and service. We probably come here at least once a month. The actual restaurant feels massive but decorated in a rustic way. I want to give a huge shout out to Alicia. She is such a knowledgeable, approachable, and receptive server. She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. I visited Mike's American after coming across it on Resy and was able to get a same-day reservation for two on Easter Sunday. As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion. read more

The options are definitely somewhat the same but in different options if that makes any sense. They're still a plethora of different styles of food options to choose from! I have been eating at Mike's for more than 20 years and have never had an issue until yesterday. My sister and I ordered the corn and crab chowder and the crab was spoiled. I couldn't believe it. We sent it back and ordered the calamari instead which was delicious. I was also shocked that the manager didn't stop by to discuss it or even acknowledge what happened. This is a popular restaurant in Springfield area. We stopped in without a reservation at 7:30pm on a weekday and had a short 35 minute wait. Parking is a nightmare, but you can also park across the street in the strip mall. All that being said, the food and service is worth the wait. The Hangar Steak is served on Wednesdays and Thursdays and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly at medium rare, the cab sauce has just enough flavor to enhance the steak and still enjoy the meat flavor of the steak. The steak comes complete with sauteed mushrooms and smooth mash potato side. The vibe is more casual steakhouse chain than steakhouse. But the food is fantastic. I came here with some friends for lunch during December 2025 on a weekday. I did not realize how popular they would be. There is plenty of seating within the restaurant (two levels with an elevator and centrally located open staircase), but not enough parking when they are bus. Like some of the other reviews, I definitely recommend parking at the shopping center across the street unless you are feeling lucky. However, there are no immediate crosswalks...so be prepared to run/powerwalk with caution. During the holidays, the place was wonderfully decorated. It can be a bit crowded for really large parties. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff was professional and were accommodating for us - they provided extra plates/bowls for some of us who wanted to split an entree. The also took a great photo for us. Service was great overall; however, the timing was a bit off. I would've expected them to serve everyone's entrees at the same time. However, some members of the party had to wait a little longer for their food to be served. Somewhat understandable given how busy they were, but it still fell a little below my expectation. While here, we had to start off with the Ozzie Rolls. The bread and accompanying honey butter was so yummy. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. My friend and I ended up ordering the Lobster Bisque Soup and either the Drunken Rib Eye or the 5 Star Reserve Rib Eye Steak to share (photos showed only half of the serving). The Lobster Bisque Soup was yummy and hit the spot (especially with how cold it was). There's the saying that the meat speaks for itself...the Rib Eye Steak spoke to me. It just melted in my mouth and I savored every bite. In addition with the portion size, this dish was definitely worth the price. I definitely recommend coming here for a meal. I love this place!!! I've been here no less than 10x and have never had a negative experience. I'm writing about their consistency overall and my latest meal. A place like Mikes is always busy so it's best to make a reservation. I had one for 7pm and we were seated by 7:15. I had: Raspberry lemon drop - 10/10 - no notes Bread basket - 10/10 - this is a must whenever you go to mikes, even if you don't eat bread you must make an allowance when coming here. Calamari - 10/10 - the serving size is always good and the texture of the calamari paired with fried onions and the richness of the sauce. If I believed in a good or bad place, this is how I would know I'm in the good one. Half young chicken - 10/10 - served with mashed potatoes, corn salsa and a brown butter sauce this meal was literally perfect. The cold from the salsa was a great contrast in temperature and texture with the chicken and the mashed potatoes. My only regret is not asking for more butter sauce and salsa to go with my leftovers. Some of my favorites from previous visits: Tex Mex Eggrolls Bacon Cheeseburger Short smoked salmon - the mustard sauce is insane It's always busy inside so it's not a place for quiet conversation BUT if you have some salacious tea it's so loud in here you can get away with it hahaha. Our server tonight really didn't care about giving us the experience. She was inattentive and seemed like this was a job she really didn't care about. Second is the food although was still good, it was cold. My baked potato was obviously not a freshly baked one because it was not on top and cold in the middle. Well not really cold but very obvious temperature differences. Anyway, I will not trash the place because in the several times I've been here, this was the one time it was subpar. Upon entering, the restaurant has a striking appearance with plenty of seating. We had a short wait and were seated upstairs. Since the reservation form asked if we were celebrating anything, I hoped we would be placed in a special area or at least somewhere more intimate. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We were led up a staircase, which offered a cool view of the environment, but ended up at a small table in a small high traffic area. My co-workers and I dined here during our stay in the DC area. This restaurant is fantastic for group dining because it is spacious. We dined upstairs on the second floor, which was packed on a Thursday evening. Downstairs was packed, too, so reservations are recommended. They are famous for their Ozzie Rolls, which is fried dough served with whipped butter and poppy seeds. They cost $1 per basket. We were all happy with the service and food. I enjoyed my Cheddar Burger with Sweet Potato French Fries. I had it with a bottle of Corona Beer. Our waiter provided outstanding service for our table of 10, despite the restaurant being so busy. The Maryland crab cakes aren't the same quality as what you'll find in Baltimore but it's still pretty good and you won't find true crabs anywhere in Virginia anyways. I've never been to Mike's American, but I know every time I drive by it, the parking lot is packed. I finally was able to try Mike's on Sunday for lunch. While the parking lot was mostly crowded, I was able to get a table for two without any wait. For apps, I tried the Shrimp and Crab Louie, which was one of their daily specials. It was delicious and refreshing, which was especially nice on a hot summer day. I also tried the Ozzie rolls, which is always a hit, but gobbled those up before being able to snap a picture. For my main, I tried the wedge salad, which was flavorful and hearty, while still feeling light enough for a hot day. The bacon is thick and crispy, and adds great texture to the crispy iceberg salad. I subbed out the blue cheese dressing for the buttermilk ranch, which had a hint of bbq sauce. I also got a taste of the filet mignon tip pasta, which is only served during lunch. This pasta usually isn't available after 3pm, so we were glad to have been to order it. The filet tips were nicely grilled and the pasta was creamy and limey. Overall the service was great! The space is also huge. I highly recommend giving Mike's a try. read more

I've been going to Mike's for years. The service is usually great, and the food never disappoints. However, today was a rare disappointment in terms of service--specifically due to the front-of-house manager working upstairs on Friday, June 6th at 8 PM. She was a middle-aged Black woman with glasses and a low bun. We were directed upstairs to our table, but it was a tiny one pushed up against the wall. We couldn't even sit comfortably, so we asked to be moved. The hostess who escorted us informed the manager, who then turned around and gave us the nastiest look--up and down. I had to ask my husband, "Am I tripping, or did she really just do that?" Trying to keep our date night vibes intact, we chose to ignore it. It was clear she was the manager, yet she never acknowledged or engaged with us. We waited patiently for another table to become available. When it finally was, the manager walked over, pointed at us, then pointed in the opposite direction--still without saying a word. She placed the menus down and walked away. In my opinion, her behavior was extremely rude. In all my years dining at Mike's, I've never experienced anything like this. Very unfortunate. read more
