Bob & Edith's Diner is a great breakfast place for those who don't have to worry about them closing because they never do. Literally. The place is 24/7 and it is a big plus for those who can't find anything around Springfield when it's late. When it's late night, it can be kind of rough when it's packed with people coming from the bar next door or just a sudden group of hungry people wanting their breakfast fix. Like any breakfast places, it's quick, it's cheap, and affordable at a reasonable price. I went with what was comfort for me; Country Fried Steak with Scrambled Eggs and Hash Browns with White Toast. The sausage gravy that the used on the Country Fried Steak? It elevates it to a whole new level. Eggs tasted buttery, and Hash Browns crispy with a nice side of grease coming to it. I can't really complain because this is something I eat once in a while but it's my guilty pleasure. Overall, you can't go wrong with Bob & Edith's. The interior of the restaurant reminds you of an old timey diner which I enjoy myself. The waitress I had was super attentive and knew the menu before I could even finish my sentences. The food was made in adequate time for how many people were there. Temperature of the food was good, portion size was satisfying. Stopped in on the way out of town headed back to Georgia. We didn't have many expectations, we just wanted a real breakfast that wasn't a drive-thru. I am so glad we stayed. It was seriously such a delicious and well prepared breakfast. I would seek this place out if back in the area. Everything we ordered, and I mean everything, was cooked exactly as I liked. The bacon was perfectly crisp, my eggs were cooked with no runny yolk, and the breakfast potatoes had just the right amount of onions. All three of us loved our food. This location is one of many Bob & Edith's in Alexandria, Arlington and Springfield. I stopped here after work a few days ago with an craving for breakfast food despite the time of the day. The restaurant was fully staffed though there were only a few tables occupied. Comfortable quiet ambiance...and pleasantly not over-air-conditioned. I was greeted by a smiling friendly young woman who indicated I could sit anywhere. Upon being seated, I was promptly provided with a menu and water. I ordered the most basic of basic breakfasts: eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. My food arrived in good time. All the items were decently prepared. Bonus points for the toast being buttered before it came out to my table. My server checked on me at least a couple times, and without prompting, gave me a water refill. I pulled the reins in on my appetite and opted against a shake, though I do know the shakes are very good at Bob & Ediths. The diner has a large dining area and serves a wide array of food including burgers, sandwiches, omelettes, soups, salads, waffles, pancakes and french toast. The staff there was friendly enough, but I will admit that my interaction with them was limited. This diner has a an old-school feel and is opened 24 hours which is a plus for those that have the late night munchies. I ordered a grilled cheese with a side of home fries. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food. I was very unimpressed. The home fries lacked any flavor or taste. I could not even finish them. The grilled cheese was nothing special. Okay New Jersey diners are my favorite. Have to put that out here first, as it's a disclaimer of sorts. Bob and Edith's is amazing. Love their restaurants, and the only problem with this one, is Springfield Plaza's parking is a headache. Coffee and an aspirin helps. Go here or any of their locations. For this era of inflation, the cost is very reasonable. It's almost always full for a reason. Food here is so delicious. I love the pancakes especially, but they have lunch and dinner too. It's 24/7 and a clean spot. Incredibly good staff, this is a place to go to. Always have and shall continue to visit here, as it's always a worthwhile place. read more

Typical diner. I went in on a Fri night with my 2 teenage boys for milkshakes. Nothing mind blowing but good shakes. One odd thing, I was overcharged for my bill. I left no tip on the card b/c I left a 20% tip in cash. They still charged my card with a tip added on. Let's get into it, Father's day prime time brunch hours We arrived, we waited in line for about 3-4 minutes, until we met with one of the servers who found us a "small booth" I asked if we can have a bigger booth but were informed they are only for parties 3+. However, there were a few patrons seated in bigger booths with only 2 people. Moving on to food, We ordered the country fried steak, how it comes with eggs and toast, and french toast with eggs and bacon and substituted home fries with grits. Two orange juices and water. I was a little dissapointed because the orange juice wasn't fresh squeezed it was from concentrate. I didn't mind it, but my boyfriend switched with Apple juice. Apple juice also wasn't authentic and very sugary! My eggs didn't not have a portionable amount of cheese We waited 30+ mins for our two plates of food, which weren't fresh and hot off the burner. The patrons who came in after us were served before we were. Once examining everything, they forgot my grits which I politely asked for them, and they were given to me. Total amount + tip equalled to $55 which, is mildly high and we could've received better food at Ihop. I tried to show a little grace because it was Father's day, So I should've expected longer than usual wait times, but I have nothing to do with low staffing, and the diner being understaffed for a busy holiday. I don't see myself returning, and that's also a little disappointing because this spot IN PARTICULAR had a lot of good reviews and highly rated, maybe that day was an off day for them given the volume. I'm hoping they'll improve the quality of the drinks & staffing situation to accommodate with a reasonable amount of wait time. read more

Whenever I have trouble sleeping, and I have a craving for some breakfast diner food, this is the place I go to satisfy my hunger. My go to item is the corned beef hash with eggs over easy, some hash browns and white toast. Paired with a glass of OJ and my hunger is sated. Open 24/7 with plenty of parking, this place is located near the Giant grocery store. I was serviced by a few Edith's employees from the servers to the runners all were absolutely amazing. I ordered the a delicious breakfast with delicious turkey sausage home fries and perfect eggs. The toast was one of my favorites with butter spread and jelly. Combined with a cup of coffee and orange juice. I also loved how you had outdoor seating as well as Indoor both locations are comfortable. Great place to come enjoy alone or with friends and family. Came in for an early pre-ride breakfast and wasn't disappointed at all. First, being open 24 hours makes it very convenient for my early morning schedule. The restaurant is brightly lit and spotlessly clean. Grabbed a booth, which is spaced just right for someone my size. Simple breakfast menu, which is what I like in a diner. My bacon and eggs came out quickly and cooked just right. The rye toast is THICK and grainy, again a big plus. Service is amazing. A server was at my table almost immediately, asking for my drink order. My coffee appeared almost out of thin air, and again, the server was ready to go. Food came back pretty quick, and except for coffee refills, the server left me in peace. The check was promptly delivered (which doesn't happen in some places) and the bill was on par with other diners. Bob and Edith's keeps the spirit of the American Diner alive and kicking. After visiting their other location in Arlington, as soon as this location came up in my search for diners one morning, I knew we had to go try them. It did not disappoint. Located in the corner of a shopping complex, you don't want to be looking for the silver diner building like in Arlington. They are tucked in, so be sure to keep your eyes out for it. Inside was very similar to the other location. The waitresses were all very friendly, we were sat right away, and before long we had our drinks. The coffee was just right, and my kids were happy to have lemonade and water. We ordered our food, and it came out quick, hot, and delicious. My egg sandwich with turkey sausage was perfectly cooked. The home fries had good flavor as well. My kids shared a waffle at the advice of the waitress based on the size. When I tell you that my youngest loved it (my oldest did too, but was still very tired from our trip), that should be the ultimate compliment. Because this child doesn't eat much of anything! Barry said that he thinks that the Silver Diner is better. I'm going to hold review judgment on that because when I get pancakes at the silver diner, they are cold. I had to change my son in the bathroom on the changing table. The table was generally in good condition and it was fine enough. I tried this restaurant for the first time today for breakfast. When the toast came, it had very little butter. So I asked the person walking by to come over. He turned out to be a manager named Aaron (could be spelled different). I showed him the toast and said they didn't really butter it and so I'd like to get more butter. He looked at the toast and rudely said, "it's buttered! But if you want more butter then yes I'll get you some." I said wait a minute. You're going to tell me that you consider this little tiny spot of butter enough, and that toast is properly buttered. He said "yes it is buttered. But I will get you more if that's what you want." I thought as the manager, Aaron would want to know that the kitchen is sending out the toast with VERY little butter so that he could correct it. Instead, he treats me rudely as he explained it was properly buttered. I asked him for his name and if he was the manager. He told me his name was Aaron, and then he leaned in to tell me that he wasn't just the manager, he was the district manager (I can't remember if he said 'district' or something else but it was higher management), as if that gave him permission to be so rude. There was no reason for this to turn out the way it did. All he needed to say was, "no problem, let me get you more butter." He didn't have to attack me saying that the toast was properly buttered, especially when it clearly wasn't. This was the first and last time I will be going to any of the Bob & Edith Diner's. read more

The food is really good -- I had 8oz steak with mashed potatoes and home fries. My friend had the fried chicken with potato salad and my other friend had pork chops with coleslaw. We shared all our meals and everything was pretty darn good. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and paired soooo well with the mash potatoes. The home fries on the other hand were super dry, the flavor was there, but it was too dry to finish.
