Sausage gravy and biscuits - A white plate contains sausage gravy and biscuits, served at Warrior Cafe Post 176, a community-focused veterans' organization in Springfield, VA.

What a fantastic place. Park and enter from the back. I love biscuit and gravy, the King being Hardees, and I judge all others by that measurement. This was pretty good, surprisingly good. Too much gravy though, or not enough biscuits. The ratio was off I can't be certain if the biscuits are massed produced, but they were good to eat so no complaint. Large glass of OJ. Old timers telling stories and laughing, news on the television, huge bowls of creamers, and jelly. No frills, single open room mess hall. Loved it.

Didn't know this place existed until I saw it on Yelp. It was a bit confusing at first when first pulling up to the place ss there is no sign outside that says "warrior cafe" As you enter inside and turn right, you'll see the small dining room. The pricing is really great compared to other restaurants in the area. Good breakfast food! Steak was a bit overcooked but i still enjoyed it

Biscuit, over easy eggs, bacon, grits, and potatoes. - A breakfast meal featuring bacon, over-easy eggs with black pepper, potatoes, bread, and a bowl of grits on a wooden table.

I've been wanting to try the cafe for sometime. We had breakfast here here a couple of times. Food is good, nice portions, and good service. Prices are very reasonable.

While in the DC area for a family funeral at Arlington National Cemetery last week, 10 of the cousins gathered for breakfast at Warrior Cafe Post 176 before parting ways. From the street, you wouldn't even know they have a restaurant, as it is inside the American Legion building. Thankfully, I found good reviews on Yelp and we decided to try it. All of us really enjoyed the breakfast! The servings are pretty large and the food was cooked well. All the tables were served by one waitress/server and she was good. We didn't have to wait long for anything and she came by to check on us often. Impressive! I recommend this little place if you are in the area!

This place is a hole in the wall type place, but the breakfast food was cheap (no taxes and prices low) and delicious. I need to find one like this in the Atlanta area since I've moved. I recommend this place to the highest!

I was passing through the area and coming across Warrior Cafe Post 176 was a happy accident. It's a basic diner with a general menu but the food was delicious! With large portions and inexpensive prices you simply can't go wrong. The ladies who work there were very warm and welcoming.

Sausage, Egg, & Cheese, home fries. Added grits and Belgium waffle. Food pretty decent and level of comfortability good. - A breakfast meal includes a waffle, home fries, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a bowl of grits, with syrup and condiments on a wooden table.

Food pretty decent. Service good and friendly. Ambiance nice but nothing spectacular.

Scrapple with butter grits and eggs. Delicious. - A breakfast meal featuring fried eggs, creamy grits in a small bowl, and breaded fried pork chops on a white plate, with toast, butter, and jelly on a separate plate.

Warrior Cafe is a hidden gem with great breakfast and lunch. The food reminds me of home, butter grits, scrapple, eggs, pancakes, and fried chicken. Not all at once, of course. Sonya, our server has a wonderful personality and attentive service. The food is delicious and affordable.

As such today's visit went exceptionally well although it could have been just OK. Thanks to Hyme, I enjoyed real fried chicken with my waffle instead of chicken tenders. The place is 24/7 and it is a big plus for those who can't find anything around Springfield when it's late. When it's late night, it can be kind of rough when it's packed with people coming from the bar next door or just a sudden group of hungry people wanting their breakfast fix. Like any breakfast places, it's quick, it's cheap, and affordable at a reasonable price. I went with what was comfort for me; Country Fried Steak with Scrambled Eggs and Hash Browns with White Toast. The sausage gravy that the used on the Country Fried Steak? It elevates it to a whole new level. Eggs tasted buttery, and Hash Browns crispy with a nice side of grease coming to it. I can't really complain because this is something I eat once in a while but it's my guilty pleasure. Overall, you can't go wrong with Bob & Edith's. They are just open at any time and you are rest assured that your breakfast will be good as mine.

She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.

I visited Mike's American after coming across it on Resy and was able to get a same-day reservation…read morefor two on Easter Sunday. As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.

There was a second birthday party in full swing, yet the family who owns the restaurant greeted us with such warmth and kindness and invited us to sit wherever we felt comfortable. You can immediately tell this is a place built on heart, humility, and truly good people. The service stood out in the best way. I asked whether the Caesar dressing contained anchovies due to a pregnancy restriction, and although our server wasn't completely sure, he handled it with care and thoughtfulness. He brought the dressing on the side and offered to swap it entirely out of an abundance of caution, which meant a lot and showed how much they value their guests' comfort. And the food. Absolutely delicious. Every dish tasted fresh and authentic, and the sauces alone are worth coming back for. You can tell everything is made with intention and pride. What really makes this place special, though, is the feeling you leave with. By the end of dinner, it doesn't feel like you just ate at a restaurant. It feels like you were welcomed into a family. It was around 10am, so not many people, but it did start getting full. My bf is in tech so he has a habit of taking his laptop everywhere-- I tend to think there are certain places you can have laptops and certain places where you can't. First Watch is one of those places where I'm like eh.... Maybe not. But I did! We didn't stay long and only had our laptops open for the meal, but no one said anything so it was solid. Additionally, I didn't know what I wanted to eat because I wanted to be a little adventurous so I ask the waitress what I should get. I am sometimes hesitant to ask bc I always feel they're going to upcharge me instead of giving me their opinion, but I don't believe she did thank and I was grateful! Wish I got her name. FOOD: So, for me she suggested the chilaquiles. I trusted her input and ordered that! I was hesitant because, traditionally, that dish is typically very heavy and spice-based, and I didn't know if I wanted to start the day off with food like that, but it was SO GOOD. Lots of flavors. One note for the public: arrive early, because there is usually a wait and clearly many others have already caught on. Everything we got was really good, and it was one of those meals where you keep saying "wait, try this" across the table. I especially loved the french toast and bacon, and the chocolate chip pancakes were also fire. The brunch drinks absolutely deserve a mention too because the spiked lavender lemonade was delicious and fully earned an encore appearance from me. No regrets there. Overall, the food was fresh, the drinks were fun, and the whole brunch just really hit. This was a very strong showing for a busy brunch spot, and I will definitely be back.
