A guest who walked out touched my girlfriend inappropriately when walking out. When I told him to back off, the old man bartender stepped in -- but instead of handling it professionally, he backed the guy who crossed the line. This isn't the first issue I've had with this bartender either. He often appears unprofessional and seems like he may be drinking while on the job. My family has followed this restaurant after it has changed it's location two times, with it now being on it's third location. A focused menu with simple great food. Homely atmosphere and great service. Not a lot of seating in the restaurant part of the business, but most of the business comes from the bar it seems so finding seating is usually not an issue. They used to have delicious ribs on the menu, but now they seem to be a special that is only occasionally available. Every October they do an October Fest we always look forward to where they serve special beer, a German sausage dish and schnitzel. read more

My SO, his daughter, and I decided to check out Hopsfrog Grille for a late Sunday brunch. On Sundays, brunch runs until 3 pm as opposed to 12pm on Saturdays. The menu is small and concise-very no frills. When you enter, if you want bar seating (most of the establishment), seat yourself. In the dining area there are a few booths and a few tables, but it is pretty cramped. The bar began to pick up as we were leaving because HH is 12-9pm during football season. Feel free to ask for a controller to play the trivia game at your table too! Service was friendly and was quick. They do make brunch beverages-my SO loved the Bloody Mary (strong horseradish component). My SO had the Athenian omelette (3 egg, spinach, feta, onions) served with homefries and toast, his daughter had pancakes, and I had the eggs and sausage (but I substituted bacon) served with home fries and toast. The eggs were cooked sunny side up as requested, bacon was crisp, and the home fries were large chunks of handout potatoes mixed with peppers and onions-so tasty! The vibe dope. A fun watering hole with an under rated and under advertised brunch. Eggs Benedict had delightful flavor and I love the use of capicola. If the muffin was toasted this would be a 9.8 dish. Mimosas not even on the brunch menu!?!?! They were delicious and well priced why are they not featured on the brunch menu? Stopped in to Hopsfrog for a quick dinner with the family. The layout is interesting. Small dining room as you walk in the front door, followed by a large bar area in the back. The food was good, and the prices were fair. It had a very townie feel to it, and seems like a great place to watch a game. Service was good. No real complaints. We were passing through the area and came across this place , unfortunately. I ordered the French dip which was fatty and nasty. The au jus was flavorless and watered down. The horseradish cream sauce had barely any horseradish in it. I need. I was very hungry, so I ate half of the French dip and left the rest for the trash. My girlfriend order the Rubin which was so so at best, at best. Maybe this place serves a good bottle beer because they have nothing to do with making it? I don't know because I will never go back in there again. I wrote the manager twice and they ignored my emails. That's why I decided to enlighten the public to my personal experience. The server was attentive and pleasant, but didn't offer to take the French dip off the check when he saw I was throwing half of it away. As others have said, I don't know why it took us so long to discover Hopsfrog Grille. It's a cozy neighborhood restaurant in Burke Centre. I like the French Dip sandwich, served with either French fries or a salad. The burgers are very good, with thick handmade patties. Meals begin with a basket of warm sourdough bread. I'd like to try the Saturday and Sunday breakfast (brunch) menu. It is small and seating can be limited at times. Half of the space is the restaurant, the other half the popular bar. Went for Sunday brunch and this place did not put out anything of quality or anything that I would actually pay money for ever again. The eggs were over cooked, the waffle and pancakes were chewy and had an eggy flavor to them. The server never stopped by after she brought our food out and never refilled drinks, and one of our parties dishes didn't come out until everyone else had finished. I don't know why it's taken me so long to finally come dine at Hopsfrog Grill -- this place is adorable and my experience was delightful! I came on a Saturday around 11:30, and was slightly saddened to find out that they stop serving brunch at 11 on Saturdays (until 2 or 3 on Sundays though!), but both my friend and I quickly found something else on the menu that sounded good. We started with the beer cheese pretzels, which came with two hot soft pretzels and a cheesy dipping sauce. I then got the Boston Harbor Fish * Chips, and she got the Chicken Tenders -- I really appreciated that neither of these dishes seemed like prepackaged, frozen foods, but were fresh, tasty, and the portions were ginormous! We both ended up having food to take home. The restaurant side is actually smaller than I imagined (it's like half of the space is bar and half is restaurant, and only the latter half was open when we went), but it's cute and our waitress was super friendly. Food came out quickly, and overall it was a very nice experience! Food was alright. However a drink I had ordered was secretly more expensive than the price given on the online menu (which they put on their own website, not a third party). There are QR codes on the table encouraging you to use the online menu, but the manager refused to charge the online menu price. They shouldn't have an online menu and encourage customers to refer to it if they aren't willing to go by it or keep it current. This is a great local bar with great food and service. Been frequenting this spot for years and enjoy myself every time. Burgers, pizza, fajitas and Greek food are all top notch as well as seasonal specials like corned beef and cabbage in March and authentic German food in October. The bar is great with tons of tvs and a juke box. Bartenders and servers have been working there for years and make it feel like home. I was very excited to go see their new place...and after visiting, I will not return. The old place had character though smaller...the new place is mini-mall. Welcome to a dive bar with no character. It is generic plaster walls and a bar slopped in the middle. Love the servers standing at the desk with no work. That's the way to generate income. Used to enjoy the bar tending crew but realized some of them are divas...watching one whining by one of the bartenders to the manager about the other bartender in front of me...grow a pair or take it to the back. I bartended in my old life and never would have embarrassed the bar by doing that. I used to enjoy this place but won't return. Went to this place based on the Yelp reviews. It was a mistake. The service was ok. Nothing special, no huge errors aside from having to ask for more soda when my glass had stood empty or near empty for a while (this is a pet peeve of mine). There is nothing good about this place, so I'm confused as to where all the stars are coming from. Brought my two girls and my wife here to try it out. Wife got the pulled pork, I got a pizza, daughter 1 got a kids pizza, and daughter 2 got a cheeseburger. The pulled pork was too sweet. My pizza had, I'm pretty sure, frozen dough (it tasted like cardboard.... remember eating pizza in high school? That's what I was reminded of), and a ton of cheese. It was a pizza made for the sole purpose of being able to say that you have pizza as an option. Not because they have anything to actually offer. You know how you may go to a pizza place or restaurant that serves pizza, enjoy the meal, and take the leftover pizza home because you're actually looking forward to eating the rest? I ate two pieces of my pizza and didn't take anything home. I left the rest, which makes me feel guilty, but at least I'm not feeling vaguely nauseated at the thought of re-heating whatever it is that you call what was served to me. The only highlight, to me, was the french fries, which were very crispy. My wife, however, was not a fan. My daughter said her pizza was the worst she's ever had. I don't know what Hopsfrog is supposed to offer diners. I know what we didn't get it, or if we did, it was just horrible. Well, maybe that's too strong a word. The place is nestled in a strip mall that includes a Wal-Mart, a 7/11, a Dairy Queen and a Wendy's so parking can get a bit tricky. Walking in, the first area is the dining room. Beyond that is the bar / lounge area. Beyond that is the kitchen and then the restrooms. The dining room has a couple TVs and the decor was just put together with very little imagination or style. The bar area is decorated like a man cave and has a variety of flat screens - perfect for sporting events. Our server, Sergio, was attentive and professional. The food was delectable. This place is kind of a locals hangout, with a number of folks sitting at the bar and drinking too much. You can always tell because the raucous cursing lets you know they feel "at home". I ordered the wings and jalapeño poppers. Neither was better than meh and I'm pretty sure both went from freezer to microwave to plate. The beer selection is nothing to get excited about either. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of bar competition along Burke Centre Parkway, so there isn't a lot of incentive to improve. Hopsfrog is the BEST neighborhood spot for cocktails and pub food. They are so kind and attentive. We moved across country and were worried we wouldn't be able to find a local place we loved as much as our former usual haunts but we were lucky enough to find Hopsfrog. Josh and Sam have been excellent bartenders/servers over the past few months. Tonight we also met Grace, she was also super friendly.
