Naan
Karen R.

Went for lunch and this spot is a hidden gem. They have lunch special including chicken tikka masala on their menu. It is tasty and comes with naan bread. It came out steaming hot and fresh. Service was quick and efficient. Inside was a bit warm but it was super hot outside also.

The burnt samosa.

Let's start with what went right. The malai kofta was edible and the rice was also edible. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The gravy was grainy and not smooth. Everything else was BAD! The samosas were past the point of cooked well, they were burnt. The inside was good texture but not flavorful at all. The garlic naan was so rotten, it smelled like gasoline. The garlic used was rotten and the naan was lumpy. Completely inedible because of the rotten garlic. I am so surprised that a restaurant serves this low quality of food. It's safe to say, I'll never be eating here again.

Ordered takeout from Raaga Tandoor on a Friday night with an Uber Eats deal for bogo Channa Masala and Naan. With Channa Masala being one of my all time favorite Indian dishes, I loved the fresh chickpeas and hearty masala. It was not salty and packed great flavors through each bite. The naan was an added bonus for us to dip into our masala and pair with our kabob sampler of tandoori chicken, seekh kabob, and pakora. Loved the green chutney with the pakora and found the meats to be just alright. Granted, this was gotten as takeout, so it was a bit dry. Great takeout for a cozy night in! I would like to try Raaga Tandoor in person to try more of their items.

I ordered take out here on Saturday through the yelp app. It was very user friendly and easy. We received our order in a timely manner, with tracking options for the order and delivery. I ordered the Chana Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan bread. Each dish was tasty and savory, with a nice little burn in each bite (if you like spicy). The Chicken Tikka Masala was particularly delicious: tender chicken in a tomato based cream sauce, but I was a little disappointed in the Chana Masala - which, while tasty, was a little lacking in flavor. I routinely make it at home, and was expecting better from the restaurant seeing as I am not of South Asian/Indian descent and only learned how to make it recently. All in all, not a bad dish, just not what I was expecting. The garlic naan was also very tasty. I can't speak to the ambiance or service of the restaurant itself, but the online order/delivery service was absolutely stellar. We will definitely be eating at this restaurant again!

For those who track my reviews over the years, yes, this is a 6 star review. I used to live in Bailey's Crossroads (Va.) in the 90s and was one of the first customers to the Raaga there. My wife and I went all the time and once we moved to Maryland we would use random trips to Virginia as excuses to go back there. To be honest, the Virginia location has dropped off a little and I wonder if the reason is that the chef has moved to Burke and opened this place. Everything that came out of the kitchen on our visit was perrrrrrrrrfect! We started, as always, with the Mixed Platter appetizer. OMG, the vegetable pakora was mind blowing. The chicken and the kebab were also excellent. I went with my personal fave of Reshmi Kebab and it did not disappoint. Tender and yummy. The Mrs. had the Mixed Vegetable Korma and it was so delicious that I ate half of it and I generally keep clear of veggie dishes. If I had two stomachs, I think I would have also ordered the Momo Chicken appetizer and kheer. Alas...I'll just have to go back and try them out when I'm in Burke next (Friday). The naan is made from a legit tandoor and it was flawless. If you love fabulous Indian food then Raaga Tandoor is the place for you. You're welcome.

This was our first time eating at Raaga Tandoor and I can say it is a rock solid Indian food establishment. Each dish we had was very good and in some instances, different from the typical Indian fare. For example, the chicken momos aren't something you'd typically find; however, they are great. I'd also highly recommend the cashew chicken curry dish -- I can't remember the name. We will be back.

If you like Hyderabadi or Dum Biryani then this is not the place for it. They serve what is known as assembled Biryani. It's spicy but good. Reminds of the Kimchi fried rice I had in Seoul minus the kimchi and of course I tried it with the boneless lamb. It was served with a raita which thankfully was made properly and went well with the biryani to add creaminess and toned down the heat from the peppers . The lamb kebabs are another item I recommend for the meat lovers. We were in the mood for some biryani so didn't try much else. The servers were professional, accommodating, and attentive. Best of all they actually understood what we asked of them. The restaurant small but it is clean, comfortable, and somewhat busy for the

We enjoyed lunch at Raga Tandoori. Rather than set up a buffet, they offer several lunch platters. I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo while my wife ordered the Butter Chicken. Both came with Nan, chickpeas, spinach and Kheer for dessert. The Lamb Vindaloo was delicious! I think next time I will order just the Lamb Vindaloo or other entree for lunch rather than a platter. Service was friendly and prompt.

Vegan Friendly: Yes Decor: The exterior was nothing special but when I entered inside I will say it was very warm and inviting. It is not a huge space but the space they do have they utilized very well, the seating was comfortable, the painting and decorations are a nice touch, and overall a very clean place. Food Breakdown: * Mango Lassi (3.5/5): Not a lassi but it was a little too thick for my liking but defiantly don't regret getting it * Tiranga Chicken(5/5): This was actuarially a last-minute decision as I was looking through the menu and was deciding to go with Butter Chicken. However, something was telling to me try out this dish and I am very glad I did. The chicken was well cooked and the flavors hit properly. The cherry on top was that it come with a side of Chole and rice which really helped round out the dish. Portion Size: Good size overall Price: Not going to lie the prices kind of felt higher in other Indian places but the food was solid so it hard to complain to much. I would for sure come back again. Service/Food Delivery: The service was top tier. Everyone was really nice and they really made sure we were taken care off. Would I go Back: Being Indian it is hard for me to want to go to a Indian restaurant because my dad makes restaurant-quality food at home. But I am very happy to say that I really enjoyed my experience and the food I got was great. I really wish the price were a tad bit lower but what can you do. One thing that really hurt me was the fact that they didn't have Momos or dessert options there, I believe it was because their refrigerator was broken but that really hurt me. Thankfully though the food+service really saved the experience:)

Fun restaurant for food from Himalayan mountains! Service was awesome, clean and relaxing environment, tasty! I dropped in for a weeknight dinner, excited to see the extensive menu including Indian foods and Nepalese items. I tried the bone-in goat curry and the fresh naan, and masala tea. The meat was falling off the bone, very tender and tasty! Came in a little pot with a side of rice and went well with the naan. The bread was very fresh and hot, recommended! Would eat here again in a heartbeat! Location was in a strip mall near other stores and a Walmart. Easy suburban location but you feel like you are transported once you go inside. Try it out!

A few friends and I visited Raaga Tandoor after hiking in Fountainhead park. We all love Indian cuisine but none of us had eaten at Raaga Tandoor prior to today, so you can imagine how excited I was when I saw they were voted best carry out in Burke, VA, even though we had planned to dine in. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were seated immediately. The bartender was great! He was attentive, accommodating, and made really great drinks. He was also our server. For appetizers we ordered Samosa Chat, Achari Chicken Tikka, and Lamb Seekh Kebab. Everything was so good and full of flavor. The Samosas were perfectly crispy and the filling was savory and rich with spices, the tamarind and mint sauces were excellent. The lamb kebabs and chicken tikka were super juicy and flavorful. The entrees were served family style and I loved that--there's something special about communal eating with friends. I ordered the lamb curry--again, super tender and flavorful meat. The curry gravy was thick and packed with spices providing a good level of heat. My buddies ordered the the butter chicken and butter salmon, both excellent choices. Each of us enjoyed our stews accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and the basket of bread. The basket of assorted naan was simply divine and I'm so happy it was on the menu. This is a 5/5 rating for excellent service, clean restrooms, great drinks, delicious food, and generous portions.

Excellent Indian Restaurant right here in Burke! Came for lunch and very cozy inside and extremely good service. The chai masala tea was delicious and presented very nicely. I had the butter chicken, garlic naan and rice. The butter chicken was very delicious and the rice was soft and the bread was also nice and yummy. Plenty of garlic flavor. My parents also enjoyed their dishes and the portions were very generous. Would go back again and love that it is only about 10 minutes from my parents home!

We've had plenty of bad experiences with Chinese buffet seafood making us feel sick--pretty sure I'm not the only one--but that has never happened here. The food is always freshly steamed and served hot when you order. I'm not a big fan of overly salty, heavy American-style seasoning, so I really appreciate that they can prepare it without all that. Also, my daughter doesn't eat much seafood, but they're flexible and let us order something simple like a mozzarella stick for her, which is a huge plus. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. The gumbo you can order on the side is amazing, and the crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimp are all fresh and delicious. It's $58.99 per person, which isn't cheap, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend.

We started with the bang bang shrimp--perfectly crispy with a delicious sweet heat that wasn't overpowering. Easily one of the best appetizers we've had. For my entrée, I had the twin lobster tails they were tender, buttery, and flawless. The seasonal vegetables were fresh and perfectly seasoned. My husband ordered the Connecticut lobster roll, which was loaded with generous chunks of lobster, lightly dressed, and served on a perfectly toasted roll with crispy fries. Simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious.

It's in a newish shopping center, which, for us, had a bonus-- there is a Harris Teeter there. We needed to pick up some items, so we did before having dinner. We were here for an early dinner. Now that it's getting darker so early, we try to avoid driving after dark, when possible. Thus, we were here around 3 p.m. and were glad to see they were serving dinner at that time. To drink, I chose a mocktail called "What a lychee" which consists of "lychee, pineapple juice, club soda". It was garnished with a lychee. I did enjoy this drink. My husband had a non-alcoholic Stella Artois. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated immediately. Having looked at the menu before arriving, we each knew what we wanted. I chose to try the "Blackened Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna" which (supposedly) consists of: "Topped with jumbo lump crab meat, sundried tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, creamy lemon sauce served with rice." My husband chose the "Shrimp platter," which (supposedly) consists of: "crispy beer battered shrimp, coleslaw and chipotle sauce served with hand cut French fries." It took a while for our food to come out. As I was eating, it dawned on me that there was no crab meat or sundried tomatoes. Also, the sauce sure was a creamy lemon sauce. It was more like a miso-flavored sauce. Hard to say if the menu got changed, but no new menus were printed up to fix it. Or was it that the young man who cooked the food wasn't familiar with the entrees? Still, despite the discrepancies, I did like this dish, although it would have been even better if they had prepared it correctly. My husband noticed that there was no Chipotle sauce on his dish. Instead, there were two small containers: one with ketchup and another with tartar sauce. He, too, thought that his shrimp was well prepared, although the breading didn't cling to the shrimp. This experience left us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we appreciated the friendly, attentive service. Yet, on the other hand, we wonder whether it's worth going again, given the possibility of not getting all the ingredients for one's entree. We liked the ambiance, which evoked images of the beach. They have some nice paintings on one wall depicting the seashore, a lighthouse, and beach houses.

The actual restaurant feels massive but decorated in a rustic way. I want to give a huge shout out to Alicia. She is such a knowledgeable, approachable, and receptive server. She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.

As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.
