BLUF: Delicious food but some service and cleanliness issues My family used to go hear a lot before covid. It's the first time I've been back since covid began. They renovated the place and it's not as run down as it once was, although it's still pretty dark inside. I went with a group of five other people for dinner. First, the food. Everyone was very pleased with their food. We are also given a nice basket of naan bread and a salad for the table to share. Overall everyone's comment on their food range from very good to delicious. What are the downsides? Well, they have an earn of hot tea available for anyone to get some while they're waiting for their meal. The tea is actually very tasty. Which all sounds good right? The problem is out of the six of us two of us picked up cups that were there for us to use and found lipstick stains on them. Clearly they hadn't been cleaned. Kind of off-putting The other aspect was the service. Two of us had to ask for water glasses because they weren't on the table even though the table was supposedly set for six. Also service was slow, and the food came out for one person then I'll wait, then I'll wait for the next person and so on. Having said all of that I think they only had one server working that evening. He was clearly working very hard and trying to please everybody, but they needed at least one more worker out there to give proper service. Qabali Palaui

Randomly stopped by and was pleasantly surprised. This place is spacious and very clean. The server was super friendly. But, on to the most important thing, the food. The deluxe kebab was amazing. Four pieces of chicken, four lamb and one beef kebab. The beef was very creamy. The chicken was moist. The lamb was rich with flavor. They give you plenty of chutneys, some creamy and some spicy so i love the variety. Unless you are hungry, the deluxe kebab is sharable. Definitely coming to try more.

I have called in and carried out food from here numerous times in the past. Decided to eat in for a quick dinner with friends, and found out there are new owners. The place has definitely been renovated and looks way cleaner and nicer from before. It was not too busy, and there was only one server. The menu is slightly different, but the food is still pretty good.

Ginger tea ! Very good !

Great service ! Great food ! I ordered chicken and lamb and it was amazing. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family .

The food is delicious as always. Folks are friendly and know their returning customers. They knew my drink order and menu order when we first arrived. Ambiance is casual. Changes are coming to the menu and decorations. New menu items will be added. Coming back soon.

I went here with a group friends back in March. I actually been coming here with my parents for a number of years, however this was my first time back in awhile and they had done some major redesign to the overall restaurant which looks very nice. I have also heard they are continuing to redesign the place as there is decorative lights that have been added. I should emphasize that these photos were taken in March of 2023 so the new additions of light are not included yet. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I hope people continue to support this business.

This place is pretty good. I think I'll try the beef kabobs on my next go around. The fish kabob dinner was tasty and the portions are good. I love the extra sauces they provided me with too. Nice place.

First time customer here, and I ordered on the phone for takeout. Order was ready for pickup in 30 minutes. Items in takeout bags were accurate with disposable utensil packets. I was not impressed with the flavors of some of the kabobs that we ordered. Chicken and lamb meats were a little dry and not very tasty. Shami was good. Meat and rice portions were smaller than expected and presentation in a takeout box was not impressive (but, hey, it's takeout box). The naan bread was generous and huge - some parts were thick and chewy while other parts were dry and crispy thin. The veggies were fresh and crispy, although very small portions. Chick peas were good and peppery.

Nan bread.

This was my first experience at a Yemeni restaurant, and it turned out to be an incredibly pleasant and flavorful introduction. We were served half a lamb, head included, laid beautifully on a large platter of rice. But first, the restaurant itself. It was refreshing to see a place that uses real cutlery, proper plates, and actual tablecloths. I much prefer tables and chairs over booths, which often give off a fast-food chain vibe. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, though there was some drilling and repair work going on--likely related to safety or exit signage--so that's understandable. Now to the food. The rice was fluffy and deeply infused with flavor from the lamb, clearly absorbing the richness of the long, slow cooking process. The broth had rippled into the rice, creating an incredible depth of taste. If you've had biryani, this was somewhat similar, but with its own distinct character. The lamb itself was exceptionally tender--falling off the bone and melting in the mouth. For anyone who usually avoids lamb due to its strong aroma, this dish is a must-try; there was no overpowering "lamb smell" at all. The meal was accompanied by a fresh salad and two side sauces--one tomato-based and another green sauce that was extremely spicy, so proceed with caution. The mint lemonade deserves a special mention: easily the best I've had. Not overly sweet, clearly made from fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced. We ended the meal with tea and a warm dessert that was buttery, comforting, and topped with cream--an excellent finale. This was a completely new culinary experience for me, and I left the restaurant feeling like my palate had leveled up. Highly recommended--definitely a place worth checking out

Even if there is nobody waiting to use one of the 10 tables there. This is one of those places people will come to once and never again. Believe the real reviews on here and not the obvious, "friends and family" entered "reviews". Besides the unhealthy egg substitute they use for the scrambled eggs, the buffet food was basic appetizer type food that was straight out of the can (hummus, fool, etc). No meat items or freshly prepared items are part of that overpriced "buffet". The owner just hovers among the tiny seating area and bothers all the tables trying to get them to leave. After we each grabbed 1 plate, whenever the owner saw us not eating (we were talking to each other), he would come over to ask us if we were finished. Not even 30 minutes after we got in, he notices us talking again and comes back to our table and yelled at us to leave, because "we want to use the table for other people". We were all just sitting there shocked. When my friend finally mentioned we weren't finished, the owner brought an employee over who was holding a tub for dirty dishes and then the owner started grabbing our plates and cups from right in front of us and slammed them into the tub that the employee was holding. He also had the nerve to yell "this is why I don't like you people here!". Racist much? Not sure why he was harrassing all of the tables and finally took it out on us. He definitely made a huge seen, to the point where the couple who came in before us and was seated at the table next to us, recorded his behavior on one of their phones and sent it to my friend who was at our table. Be forewarned, worst place in the DMV area.

I got there after 6pm. It was packed. It was my first there and had no idea what I was getting into. The menus doesnt explain much nor were prices mentioned. Its like $39.99 They also tacked on a service fee. Which is deceiving since its not mentioned upfront in the menu. You find out when you get your bill. The service was 5 stars. The young man very attentive and friendly. Ushered our dirty tables and brought us our drinks. I had minty lemonade which I recommend if your gonna eat a lot. Here's my gripe. Its very important to label food. None of the food trays or stations were labeled. I have several food allergies and I had no idea what was what. I had to ask what was this or that. One tray had rice and I saw something that had deep fried crispy something. I thought it was chicken... it was fish :( The hummus was good though. The baklava meh. The pita bread was good. Some rice tray had kabob type of meat but it was lukewarm. For the price I paid, its not worth it. Please label your trays. When we walked in, we were greeted very nicely and sat quickly. Our server was new and it was her first day so she couldn't really give any recommendations which wasn't the best, but the manager came out and was able to help with describing some of the dishes and giving great recommendations. Most of the people that we ate with ended up with some type of lamb dish and the lamb was phenomenal. The rice was delicious. The eggplant was delicious. We got a bunch of appetizers. Everything was on point. Everything tasted super fresh and overall we had a very nice experience. The food also came out very quickly. The overall ambience was very nice very home type vibe and it is a smaller restaurant for limited tables One of our friends that we went with since we haven't seen each other for a long time was really craving a beer and kebabs which sometimes a little bit harder than one would anticipate but they served alcohol as well as delicious food so win-win here. So overall, I would highly recommend this place if you want delicious Afghan food, but of course remember to book in advance .
