Friend took me to dinner here. The place is tucked away and hard to see from the road. Enjoyed the rice and lamb and hope to be back again. read more

Doesn't look super fancy from outside but the food was delicious. The chicken kabob was moist and juicy. The eggplant was well-seasoned and slightly crispy. My fiance loved the beef kafta. The portions were large and plentiful - definitely needed a to-go box. read more

Two Deluxe, one chicken, one lamb kabobs. All were dry and old. Not succulent in the least. Hands down the worst afghan kabob in the area

My husband and I lived in West Springfield and we love ordering takeout from Afghan Kabob. Their chicken thigh kabob is amazing and always hits the spot. read more

Very tender and juicy boneless chicken thigh kebabs. Perfectly caramelized carrots and raisin with pilau rice. Always a welcoming experience. read more

The BEST Afghan Kabob in the area! Their meat is always cooked perfectly. Sides are tasty, and rice is always fresh. We placed a catering ordering and the process was so smooth. Our guests loved the food. read more

The food was delicious. We did go early so there only seem to be one employee out on the floor, but he was very kind and helpful. The food came out quick and there was nothing to be unhappy about. Overall great experience, will definitely be back with more people. read more

We called this place 1 week before NYE and they told us we had the reservation booked for 8pm and it was confirmed. Out of curtousy, we called 1 hour ahead of time on NYE to confirm and they told us they didn't have the reservation. The man on the phone told us they had a party of 60 people and were not taking more people. We told him we had a previous reservation from 1 week prior. The man did nothing to accommodate us and it was NYE and we had to find a last minute reservation elsewhere. Will most likely not go back. read more

Amazing Lamb Chop and Eggplant dish. I live 20 miles from this restaurant but went there several times after my colleague's recommendation.

Not a lot of kabob joints in the area. This place is pretty good. Their lamb chops were delicious and their green tea was not your average green tea, with delicious essence of cardamom. Service was very good. read more

Afghan Kabob - Model of their home town - Middle Eastern Near Me - Springfield, Virginia

Leaves me a bit upset to be writing this review but our experience last night was beyond shocking and disappointing. We left the gym across the street around 9 and were starving, we decided to walk into afghan kabob for some healthy protein instead of heading home to cook dinner. As we parked the car and were walking in, I noticed someone was standing by the window looking out, I found this to be a little odd but we proceeded to enter. As soon as we entered, a gentleman approached us and asked if we were carrying out, which we replied no. We then asked to be seated and he once again asked if we would carry out which at this point, we looked at each other confused and said no, we would like to dine in. He looked at us tired and said that he would be back. He came back shortly and stated that they were getting ready to close in 25 min (it was 9:10 p.m.) and it's too late for them to seat us, and again asked if we would like to carry out. Please try to imagine my shock at this point. We quietly thanked them and walked out. We have dined at Afghan Kabob for years and have never been turned away. They claim that they close at 10 p.m. and we walk in at 9:05 and get turned away at 9:10 when that particular evening they claimed to close at 9:30 p.m. Honestly, we would've probably finished out meal quickly and well before 10 p.m. I am still in shock that I got turned away from a restaurant. I doubt we'll be going back here any time soon and most definitely won't be sending any of our friends or family. I hope management takes the time to read this review and train their employees to better treat their customers. read more

Under the new ownership and management I was quite impressed with the quality, portion, and price of the food that I ordered. I wish the new management success, and as long as they stay consistent I would eat there and highly recommend them. I gave them Five Star. read more

Hands down the best Afghan resturant in the DMV area. The kabobs are so juicy and perfectly spiced. The tandoori bread fresh is the best! Yummy Aush (soup) before your meal with salad. Good Mantu and Sambosas with deliciouschutney. They bring you white sauce with the chicken breast....mmmmmmmmm white sauce! I freaking love this place. The owner is super nice as well as his staff. Trust me ..this place beats the rest ( ive tried them all). read more

Afghan Kabob - Boneless chicken - Middle Eastern Near Me - Springfield, Virginia

I've heard only great things about this place so I decided to drop in with my brother. Sadly they were out of the spinach side dish and stewed lamb palau that my brother initially ordered but they swapped that out for lamb kabob, per my brother's request and without hesitation. I started my meal with the vegetable soup then followed up with ground beef kabobs with a side of chickpeas. The vegetable soup tasted like a typical vegetable soup but with added chickpeas and spices and overcooked fettuccine noodles, I could pass on that next time but it was included in the price so meh.. The portion of the chickpeas was enough to feed me for dinner and lunch the next day - obviously I was happy with that. The kabob was pretty tasty and honestly it rivals that of my favorite kabob establishment--Kabob Palace in Arlington. I was also lucky enough to try the salad and rice from what my brother ordered. The salad was pretty small and dressed with something similar to ranch and the rice was really good with a strong but not overpowering flavor of cinnamon. My allegiance stays with Kabob Palace in Arlington (the 24 hour one that's totally stickerbombed) but for the location, Afghan Kabob lives up to the word of mouth. Hopefully the next time I'm craving Afghan food, the spinach will be on the menu. read more

Best place to eat in whole VA, I loved the new look of the restaurant. Its bright authentic and beautiful. The food is delicious. Thanks Naweed. read more

This is a very good Afghan restaurant in Springfield. It is located in an awkward place behind the Sunoco off of Rolling Road. You wouldn't think that a nice restaurant like this would be located there, tucked away but don't be fooled. Last time I went there I got the Super Dish- Chalau (white rice) & qaubili palau (brown rice) with carrots and raisins served with meat sauce (qurma) and one skewer of each shami, chicken, and lamb kabob. This is a lot of food. The meal also came with a salad. The salad was fresh, but nothing special about it. Even though I'm not the biggest raisin fan, I quite enjoy their qaubili palau with the qurma. The kabobs were all very good. They were juicy, not over cooked. My favorite was the lamb kabob, not too chewy or dry. Overall it was a very good meal. The service is probably the only thing that could improve. The waiter was for the most part attentive, but there were a couple of times when I needed a refill on water and had to wait a decent amount of time before he came and refilled my glass. This would not have been a problem if there were a ton of customers at the restaurant. However there was only one more family besides us there. Afghan Kabob is a good place for a meal if you are in the West Springfield area. read more

Really flavorful kabob. I got the #1 boneless chicken thigh meal and it was really good. I liked the fact that they gave something other than salad as a side. The lemon, onions and peppers were a nice touch. read more

This is the only Afghan restaurant I will eat lamb from : ) Their naan is soft, chicken is zesty, and their LAMB CHOPS are perfection! I really like how their staff wear traditional clothing and the model of an Afghan village near the entrance never fails to entertain me (the cows are bigger then the villagers?!) Beware!!!! The staff keep the kitchen super cold (understandable), so if you don't like keeping your coat on during dinner, try to get seated away from the kitchen. the air shoots straight every time the door opens (which is quiet often, also understandable). read more

My wife has travelled a lot in Central Asia and we both agree that the Afghan Kabob has most genuine kabobs we have had. Meal always comes with either salad or soup. Soups are great! Try the dogh - a yogurt drink with cucumbers, spices, and ice, so refreshing. Mantu - yum Sambosay Goshtee - yum Shami Kabob - yum yum Deluxe Kabob - yum yum Afghan Carrayee - yum yum finally, my wife's favorite - the Vegeterian Dish Their nan is to die for. They actually have a real tandoor oven. Food is consistently fresh and good, service excellent. We are their regular customers. read more

My wife and I had an Entertainment Book coupon, so we decided to give it a shot. We were REALLY happy we did! The food was outstanding, the before-meal bread was fantastic, and there serving size was more than generous. It is sorta hidden away, but is definitely worth seeking out. The only thing that kept this from being a 5-star review, was their use of canned veggies for the soup and some of the dishes. read more

We were looking to eat at this chicken place nearby, but decided to try this out due to all the good yelp reviews. However, sometimes it's better not to read all the good reviews cuz then your expectations can get pretty high. This was one of those times. Although I gave it 4 stars, it's really closer to 3.5, and to be perfectly honest, I would say the food was only 3 stars. My buddy and I shared two different entrées and we also had an appetizer. Although they were both decent, there was just WAY too much salt on everything. I'm no Afghan-food-expert, but I just don't think there should be that much salt. It was so much that we couldn't really finish everything. Nonetheless, overall it wasn't bad...but not someplace I would crave to go again. I'm bumping it up half a star for the excellent service and the discreet location. read more

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We ordered the Boolawnee appetizer. I had the Afgan gyro and my wife had the vegetarian curry. We liked the appetizer and our dishes. The restaurant provides table service. The server was efficient but not particularly pleasant or friendly. The restaurant was clean but the furnishings, linen tablecloths and napkins, dishes, and silverware showed wear. The appetizer was slow to arrive and was delivered just before our meals were served without giving us a chance to first enjoy the appetizer. The restaurant is closeby; we might give it another chance sometime read more

Great food! Wonderful service! I am looking forward to eating here again (and again and again)!

Whatever you do, don't use these guys for DoorDash. It's good food but they take their sweet time. An hour late with our food. With a pregnant wife. And a hungry baby. UPDATE The food is great. Might help if you order an hour earlier than you intend to eat. read more

extremely bad. I was very excited to see the restaurant is under new management! HORRIBLE! Don't waste your time or money! management really needs to pay close attention to food quality! ***SPOILED/ROTTEN MEAT was served to us. * * * DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! The worst dinning experience of my life. The meat was so BADLY ROTTEN that I couldn't even get the smell out of my fingers from touching it, even after washing my hands with soap & using hand sanitizer. I complained to the server and he brought out the owner, and he got very offended because I complained about the food. They then followed/chased us out of the restaurant, we got to our car, where we met another person (that had just came out of a black Range Rover). He claimed it was his restaurant, he was very heated and started cursing because he didn't want to accept that the meat was actually rotten and instead accused us of disrespecting his wait staff. They blocked the vehicle, I accelerated past them and the last guy to join the ambush hit the side of my suv. I left the scene because my 9yr old son was having a panic attack but I still have the "owners" fingerprints on my rear side window of my suv and I've contacted Fairfax County Police. Unbelievably unprofessional & just overall disgusting people!!!! read more

AMAZINGGGG food and fast service. Very clean and organized. One of the BESTT places in the DMV. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!! Definelty visit!

Terrible service. TL:DR Took 75 minutes, forgot me in the parking lot three times. Forgot to finish an incomplete order. Ordered on line paying a service fee and adding a tip. Web site said pickup in 20 minutes. Arrived and first warning was the desk wanted me to pay again. Then told me 30 minutes. Waited and went back in, told which car is yours I'll bring it out as it comes up. Few minutes later wrong order came out. Went back again. Recommend don't order online and use cash for a tip if they get it right. read more

We have been going to Afghan Bistro for years and wanted to support this local restaurant. Meat portions are super small although you get enough rice and bread. Would never go to this place even though I have lived so close to it for years now. Decided to try it when a friend came to out the food was sooo good. Awesome spot! Great kabobs for a decently affordable price. The naan bread is amazing too.

The kabob and chicken were completely burnt from the bottom which ruined the entire meal both were separate entree the chef just over cooked it too much, also the portions of meat to rice ratio is crazy , meat too low plate full off rice read more
