A friend managed to pull off a very special surprise birthday treat for us--an off-menu dish that requires at least 10 people and what feels like a trillion hours of slow cooking. This was my first experience at a Yemeni restaurant, and it turned out to be an incredibly pleasant and flavorful introduction. We were served half a lamb, head included, laid beautifully on a large platter of rice. But first, the restaurant itself. It was refreshing to see a place that uses real cutlery, proper plates, and actual tablecloths. I much prefer tables and chairs over booths, which often give off a fast-food chain vibe. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, though there was some drilling and repair work going on--likely related to safety or exit signage--so that's understandable. Now to the food. The rice was fluffy and deeply infused with flavor from the lamb, clearly absorbing the richness of the long, slow cooking process. The broth had rippled into the rice, creating an incredible depth of taste. If you've had biryani, this was somewhat similar, but with its own distinct character. The lamb itself was exceptionally tender--falling off the bone and melting in the mouth. For anyone who usually avoids lamb due to its strong aroma, this dish is a must-try; there was no overpowering "lamb smell" at all. The meal was accompanied by a fresh salad and two side sauces--one tomato-based and another green sauce that was extremely spicy, so proceed with caution. The mint lemonade deserves a special mention: easily the best I've had. Not overly sweet, clearly made from fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced. We ended the meal with tea and a warm dessert that was buttery, comforting, and topped with cream--an excellent finale. BLUF: great food at a fair price, with friendly service Four of us went for dinner on a Friday evening. The service was friendly and we were given the option to sit where we wanted to sit. We chose a window table. This brings me to the one minus of our visit: the entire restaurant was quite cool, and when the door opens even more cold air comes in. Sitting by the window was even more so. Yes, we chose the window, but to be clear the entire restaurant was chilly. Now, as to the food. Very, very good. The hummus and tandoori bread was an awesome starter. The bread alone is great. Also try the Lime Juice with mint. Awesome. Two of us got the Mathloothah /Haneeth, which was rich and delicious. Qulabah Chicken was aromatic and satisfying on a cold day. The prices are fair considering comparable restaurants and the quality of the food. Our server was very patient and described some of his favorite dishes and the ones we were questioning. I got the Sautéed shrimp, very flavorful. I thought it was gonna be spicy, but it wasn't. I finished my meal with Shai' Adeni (Yemeni tea)- it was amazing and I'd honestly come back just for that! My sister had the Fahsa Salta (lamb stew). This is the first time we and we came here for breakfast on a cold Saturday, not a lot of people. We ordered Fasolia(the one on top, scrambled eggs with white beans), Kibda(left, lamb liver), Sauted Shrimp (right). Both Kibda and Sauted Shrimp came in with sizzling plate, making them even more intriguing. Surprisingly, the kinda was not gamey as I expected at all(1st time having Yemeni dish but I do have eat variety of liver dishes before). The shrimp was also good, it was bouncy and fresh. Fasolia is also very nice -- it's flavorful but not heavy, but it has beans thus very filling and we pack it home. All 3 dishes came with freshly baked bread and the breads are AMAZING, puffy, crispy and baked to perfection. I can just keep eating it. AMAZING! That's how I would describe this place. Yemeni food is not only underrated but just amazing. It's full of flavor and marries middle eastern flavors with desi flavors. It's rich and delicious. Do yourself a favor and give it a try! That being said the food here is really really good! You have to try the fahsah which is pulled lamb meat served in a boiling cast iron bowl! The baba ghanough with chicken on top is chef's kiss! This was a refreshing change for me. I hadn't tried Yemeni food and thought this would be a good start. It's in a decent location with adequate parking, which always helps. Great food! All the appetizers are amazing and their entrees are all so unique and very delicious. The mint lemonade was top notch. Here is my rating for the food and the service. Service- 8/10. Everyone in the store is very nice but some individuals have hard time understanding the ask but no big deal. Food overall: 4/10 Appetizer: baba ganouch was good but didn't like Zahawiq with cheese. It's just a watery cream cheese version of salsa. Chicken Mandi: lack flavors Chicken Haneeth: looks and tastes exactly same as Chicken Mandi again lack flavors Chicken Fahsa: was okay as well with too much salt in it. Bread: was the only thing that we thought was 10/10 Drinks: lime mint, was okay as well nothing special Tea- it's just a Lipton tea bags.. nothing special. Special Shai- was good. Dessert: we ordered Kunafa, that doesn't look appealing at all.. like it was not freshly prepared but sitting on the counter. We returned that. There were some items like chicken tandoori and some of the coffee drinks that were out of stock. Overall not so great experience. GO HERE. I've been to a lot of really good restaurants in the DMV. This is not one of them-- this is one of the few greats. Not only is the food top-notch, but it's also the only place that made me feel like part of their family. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but be sure to get a fresh lime and mint juice to go with your meal. Marib is a great restaurant for delicious Yemeni cuisine. The inside is warm and colorful and you never have to worry about getting a seat. Service is usually great, though it's not rushed, so be patient. I've only had bad service once. The beef Fahsa is one of my favorite dishes. It's nourishing and comforting, perfect on a cold day. The bread is excellent. You can't go wrong with the lamb Mandi, a traditional lamb and rice dish that is quite good. And I love the crispy sambousas as an appetizer. I brought my wife to Marib on occasion of her birthday. Neither of us had been here before. The atmosphere appeared sophisticated and crisp. I ordered the lamb shank mandi. She ordered the fahsa & saltah. Our food came quickly. I found mine hot an delectable. Hers was still boiling in its granite bowl! I especially liked to apply the green hot sauce to bites of lamb, bread, and rice. My wife found her meal to be a bit spicy despite asking to ensure it was made mild. She politely reported it to our waiter. I shoveled some of my generous rice portion into her bowl, and that seemed to reduce the spiciness to her. The owner also learned of her dismay and made it right by providing her a free serving of baba ghannouge with bread. He also provided her a most exquisite basbosa in two shapes for her birthday. From the food to the service, everything was really top-notch. It was our first time here so we tried a lot of different dishes. We had the sambousa with meat, Yemeni lamb chops, fahsah & saltah, and the bint alsahn for dessert. Everything was flavorful, made to order, and delicious. Our favorite was the fahsah & saltah with lamb. It came bubbling hot in a stone bowl, and the stew was so flavorful and perfect with the bread. An absolutely delicious dish! We also had the lime drink with mint (cold beverage section), and it was citrusy and delicious. One of the best limeade-like drinks I've ever had! Our family recently celebrated a special family occasion at home with amazing food provided by Marib. As long-time lovers of Middle Eastern food and having just read in Washingtonian Magazine about this gem in Springfield, we were anxious to try it out. The owner Mr. Khan was very gracious in responding to questions and making recommendations, and we ended up with a delicious spread of chicken, lamb, and vegetable main dishes (all different, each delicious, with the meats mouthwateringly tender). We also had a lovely spread of appetizers (the shafout was everyone's favorite), salads (excellent!), and fresh bread. The portions were generous, and we enjoyed leftovers the next day. We came here for a friends baby shower. Plenty of parking is available. Employees are all very kind and helpful. Plenty of seating is available. The restaurant is neat and organized. Fahsa, Saltah amazing. Lentil soup? An instant favorite for even my pickiest eater. Everything is worth trying, but when we go back - those are our go to orders. I particularly liked the ornately decorated coffee pots placed around the restaurant. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed by the food. The quantity is awesome, it's definitely family style portions. My wife got a vegetable stew that came out bubbling in a cast iron bowl. Although it looked fantastic, it ended up a bit bland and really could have used more heat. I got a lamb dish served over a bed of rice. There was a very generous portion of lamb that was cooked perfectly with fall off the bone meat. However, the rice had no flavor and overwhelmed my palate. A bit less rice, or a bit more spice would have really elevated the dish. I also ordered a coffee, but it was too watery for my taste. They informed me that they do a buffet during Ramadan where you can try all their dishes. I definitely will check that out as I am interested in trying more meals here. read more

Came here with friends to try the Yemeni food since I've never had Yemeni food before... and I was simply amazed at how good the food here is to the point where I've been questioning how I've never eaten this sort of cuisine before in my entire life. It was pretty empty on a Saturday surprisingly, but seems like most people tend to order to go. Our table got to share shafout, lamb hummus, foul, and salteh + fahsa along with bread that was given to us for mostly the hummus and the dips (foul and salteh + fahsa). We got multiple pieces of bread for free too. Everything was great: the lamb hummus was good, traditional hummus, the foul had a nice flavour that came with some spicy sauce we could add in (I could tell it was spicy, similar to Japanese wasabi) and the dish itself reminded me of a sort of chili, and the salteh + fahsa was delicious with the spices, lamb flavour, and veggies that were in it. Bread is definitely necessary with these dips so get ready to use your hands. My favourite was the shafout; it tasted minty and milky at the same time along with the spices and fresh scent it had. It was tangy but also had a nice level of saltiness and sweetness to it. It was very distinctive and noteworthy so it's burned into my memory forever. I individually got the lamb mandi. The lamb was good, although a little dry and could have used more salt. Fried onions were also a great part of the dish - adding crunch and a good saltiness to the rice. The rice was tasty too, but it was a TON surprisingly, so I brought the food home - it can definitely be two meals instead of one. The portions are definitely generous for the mandi. I would recommend this place if you've never had Yemeni food before or looking for good Yemeni food! It's a little far from me, but I would come back or order delivery since it's so delicious. It's a bit on the pricier side but I think it's worth it. The staff are very nice and willing to teach you what the dishes are. They were pretty quick with serving us and refilling waters too. Parking is pretty okay too since it's in a strip mall area. There were some small bugs here and there flying around us but I don't care about bugs so it didn't negatively impact me. read more
