This was my second visit here, and both times on a Saturday evening the restaurant wasn't very busy. I also had the same server both times and he is super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Makguksu, Jokbal and got a free side of fries with the wheel spinning thing they had going on. The Jokbal was very fresh and good quality, the Makguksu was refreshing and a good pairing to the jokbal. Fries were shockingly good too- super crispy and fresh. I loved that the portion sizes of everything were huge and we left very satisfied. No complaints here, I can see this place being a good option if you want a more chill pocha experience with good food. The interior gives a very classic trendy bar vibes and there was also a photo booth off to the side which was a fun surprise!

It was our first time at Chung Dam and we would definitely come back! Everything we ordered was really good. The vibe was chill, perfect for enjoying dinner and having a nice conversation. My favorite dish was the rose spicy tteokbokki, it was creamy, slightly sweet, and super flavorful all at once. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

In terms of the food, possibly the best pocha in the dmv area. I especially love their matguksoo and malatang. Ambiance is very private and quiet and service is fast and great. I've visited this pocha many times, but I'll continue to visit it when I go back to DC!

We came here for a friend's birthday celebration and the food was perfect. It's really high quality 안주 (food you eat while drinking). The service here is also great with all the employees being really kind and accommodating. It's two floors, upstairs being the main seating area while downstairs is Sai Yakitori but you can order off both menus. I highly recommend the chicken skin yakitori and potato pancake. The price of soju here was also standard ($14)

Chung Dam is one of those places where you leave completely satisfied but already thinking about your next visit. Delicious food, great service, and a polished vibe.

A lot of mixed feelings on this review but I had to give them 5 stars because of how kind everyone was and affordable dinner was too. I ended up winning a gift card to this restaurant on instagram so decided to check this place out with my boyfriend. It's located on the corner of a small shopping strip with plenty of parking. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately. Service was great, but what bothered me was that they didn't really distinguish the difference between the 1st and 2nd floor. From my understanding, the first floor is more so lounge bites and small dishes. Upstairs would be actually Chung Dam experience --and essentially where I could use my gift card. The staff kept also telling me that the giveaway was closed, but I had to show them the conversation of me picking up the gift card in order to claim its use. There may have been a language barrier but otherwise everything worked out in the end. Now for the food, my boyfriend and I ordered the kimchi fried rice and the jokbal (pork feet). All of which were REALLY good. But seriously, it was so much food, definitely needed another 2 people to finish our meal.

The dishes were delicious, with generous portions, freshly prepared, seasoned well, and reasonably priced. Chung Dam Pork Knuckles was one of the dishes that we really liked and served warm unlike other restaurants that serves same dish. The service was top-notch, with an amiable and professional server. The cozy interior made us feel like we were in Seoul.

We went for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was empty. It definitely got busier and busier as it got later, it seems like most people come for drinks. The food was great, well priced and with good portion size! The bossam was different from what I'm used to seeing but still good, and the jokbal was delicious. Good place to come with a group of friends!

About a 1.5: I'm sorry to do this to you, Chung Dam, but our most recent visit wasn't a great one. We've tried the Kimchi Pancake, the Cheese Sticks (aka, mozzarella sticks), the Gae Ran Mahri (aka, a Korean-style omelette), the Mak Guk Soo, the Yet Nahl Tong Dak, the Kimchi Jjigae, and the Tteokbokki. The Tteokbokki was nothing like what was portrayed in the photos on their menu, as it came out as more like a soup - it was thin, overly spicy, and the fishcakes were mushy. The Kimchi Jjigae, which was really good on one visit, was a total fail on our subsequent one - it didn't seem to be warmed up at all, as it was room temperature (almost cold-like) - this was a no-no. The Cheese Sticks, which initially were hot, crispy, and cheesy, seemed to have been left out for a while, as they weren't piping hot and the cheese had already hardened up. Service, as always, was friendly. I'm thinking it's best when they are super packed, so you'll know what you receive will be made-to-order and come out fresh... otherwise, if you come during non-peak times, it's just not going to be the same. Not sure if we'd return due to the consistency issues. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. +inconsistency issues +friendly staff +located on the 2nd floor +plenty of parking in the plaza

Nestled in next to a Korean barbecue spot and along the busy Columbia Pike strip is café tu ah. It looks decently unassuming from the outside, but once you step in it is so cool and decorated!!! I like how they have a bar area and then private rooms for karaoke. I was invited to a large group of girl karaoke and it was AWESOME!! having your own private room does make the experience a little less daunting, especially if you know that you're going to possibly lose your voice from screaming into the mic I had never experienced Karaoke like this!! I think I might have just found my new obsession. It was so fun being able to go back in the millennial brain library of songs from Disney to evanescence to other classics of our time we all just unleashed our singing voices for hours! I found it extremely cathartic and simply so much fun. The bar has a menu in each room and we all ordered several shooters from green tea to white gummy bear to lemon drops. Prices seemed decent! Service was awesome with a simple button to push from our rooms when we wanted to order to not have to get up or leave our private room! Well, I did not set up this karaoke night. I very much look forward to hosting one in the future.

The bar has a lot of good soju and the bartenders are always personable. They also have a decent selection of beer and other liquors. No matter how crowded, they get your drinks quickly. The karaoke rooms are fantastic. They are large with comfy couches. The system is a little hard to navigate, and the backing tracks are obviously not the official ones. But the song library is large and the mics work well. You definitely can belt out your favorites without disturbing anyone outside your room. Highly recommended for a fun night of singing and drinking.

Was equally surprised that no one checked in for even non-alcoholic refreshment purposes, and that's the primary reason for swinging short of 3 stars instead of 4. To be honest I wasn't terribly content with song choice availability; Nicole and I definitely would've been happy dueting Fireflies, but overall I scribbled down codes for maybe a dozen songs after skimming the selection. Yelp discounts are great, considering that all their medium rooms were full. Eventually I'll figure out why the remote never takes my awesome indie song choices. I was relieved to see that there was a nice vent along the wall by one of the benches, making the room a comfortable temperature during our stay. Potential for music volume is enough to satisfy even a metalhead. Most of us chose to sit or stand as we pleased, but there was definitely a raised platform in one corner if we cared to go full-on backup dancer. Fortunately this was "sober up hour" and not "pound more soju hour". Two full sets of songbooks to pass around. Tambourine was less popular than the two mics, but not for a lack of happy tinny chimes. Seconding props to Oscar M. for beatboxing and being an excellent backup singer when my voice was too hoarse.

So there are three businesses separated by levels. 2nd Floor - Riverside Cafe 1st Floor - Riverside Sauna Basement - Riverside Karaoke We only visited the basement level karaoke rooms. It's a rather small place, and if I recall correctly only 3 or 4 rooms. We took the large room ($50/hr) which fit our party of 10 comfortably. After the other two places, the plan was to sober up here...so I told the guy we were here just to sing. I appreciate the fact that there was no pressure to buy food and drinks here as can be the case with other places. I guess you are supposed to go up two levels to the cafe for that. I'd have to disagree with Nicole...it wasn't the volume that was uncomfortably loud, it was some people's singing. **cough cough Mikkela singing lust for life cough** ;) j/k Anyway we should have just used the volume control. So after the end of an hour, which felt longer than it actually was *wink* we wrapped up just before I could sing Go West - Pet Shop Boy. Maybe at the next KK event. I'll need to pair up with a female vocal to sing Dr. Jone - Aqua. I think I've decided to retire Butterfly - Smile.dk. Anyway with the discount it was $40 between 10 people. Totally worth it I thought.

I WANTED to give this place my business and they made it more or less impossible to do so…read more My coworkers and I wanted to do karaoke after work on Friday. Since Annandale has so many karaoke spots, I asked for a recommendation from my cousin, and she said Cafe Chocolate has the better music, etc. She said since there's only 5 karaoke rooms, getting reservations is best, and that the rooms were about $40/hour. I called them about 2 days before, and they said they didn't take reservations and that it was first come first serve. Hm, okay. My cousin thought, well, maybe they recently changed that policy. My coworkers decided then that we'd come right after work to make sure we could get a room. Firstly, we get there and they tell us it's $60/hour, no matter if we get the smaller room or the medium sized room. Why are both rooms the same price? Second, the menu is mostly bar food and no actual food. We just came from work and we were really hungry. Not to mention, the prices were terrible. It was like $9 for a plate of fries. The worst is that even though we were already contemplating trying somewhere else to go, the people explicitly suggested to us "maybe you should go somewhere else." They didn't even want us? Our theory was maybe because we weren't planning to get drunk, that we weren't worth using up a room. Who knows. Also, I told my cousin about all of this, and she was pretty shocked. She also went here last weekend, and they definitely only charged her $40/hour. Now I'm pretty convinced they just didn't want our business for some odd reason or other.

The song selector was easy to use after we figured out the buttons which were all in Korean (motivation to learn Korean!) and they had a SUPER updated list of songs I love it!! :)
