I am visiting Chicago for work and seen this Gem on yelp and gave it a try, me and my hubby tried the tuna poke(amazing) i had the lobster deviled eggs, and we shared the prime rib and slow cooked rib, the rib was so amazing, we had a baked potato that came with the prime ribeye and a purée type of grits that came with the rib, we finished off with the key lime pie while washing it down with a la Pamola and an old fashion. Very underrated spot on Michigan ave. If you need a nice place to go to in the area Remingtons is pretty legit.

Stopped in for breakfast. Five of us sat down at 9a. Only ones in the restaurant. We ordered at 9:10. Restaurant began to fill up. Those who came in behind us started getting their meals. At 9:40 I asked them to check on our order. "Oh, I just did. It'll be out soon. It wasn't. At 9:55, we were still waiting and no one came to the table. By 10a, we threw a $20 on the table for coffee and left. I'm not sure what was up with State and Lake but something in the back of the house was not working. We're still waiting on that breakfast. We just visited for brunch earlier this morning. At 12:30pm on a Saturday we were seated promptly inside--rare to find a brunch spot without a long wait on the weekend. The ambiance is upscale and inside their is seating with ample windows looking into Michigan Ave. A great vibe for weekend brunch. For starters we sampled the guacamole, lobster deviled eggs, and ceviche (shrimp and scallop). In all honesty, the appetizers were just ok. The lobster deviled eggs were creamy, but the flavor was quite subtle. While these were good, I wouldn't order them again. The guacamole was very good. It was served chunky with a heaping plate full of fresh tortilla chips. The serving of guac was generous and it had a nice kick from plenty of garlic and lime. The ceviche was not one of the better ones I've had. It was fresh, but has a strong "sweet" taste and really lacked the bright, acidic bite you'd expect from a ceviche. Would not order this again. For entrees my partner had a burger and I had the veggie burger. We also tried a side of their Mac and cheese. My partner said his burger was excellent, one of the best he's had. My veggie burger was solid, but the patty is a little on the drier side (it's made of mostly rice). I really appreciate the crisp and plentiful toppings on the burgers. The burgers were served with shoestring fries that were cooked perfectly and were flavorful. I would get the veggie burger again but it's probably not one of my favorites I've had. The Mac and cheese really did not do it for me. It had a ton of bacon in it. Which could be a good thing. But for me, all it did was make the entire dish taste of bacon. I think a more complex flavor would have been appreciated. Also the ratio of pasta to cheese was like 50/50. This is pretty intense for a Mac n cheese! Trust me, I love cheese, but this was just too much for me to handle. For coffee, they serve intelligencia, which is wonderful. Also, our server Caroline was an absolute sweetheart and did an amazing job. She's lovely. Overall I think all the dishes were prepared well, the favors were just a bit lacking or in some cases misplaced entirely. One of my favorite restaurants along the Mag Mile. They have a great cocktails selection and an extensive wine list. The food is fantastic too, ranging from shared apps like spinach dip, their delicious turkey burger, fresh oysters, and more. Whenever I come to Remington's, I always get their Moscow Mule - it's delicious and so unique. They use orange vodka and orange bitters for a sweeter not as sour taste. Definitely a must-try! My wife and I ate here when were were here for a conference last year (2016). So this review is arriving a little late. This place was within walking distance from our hotel, which made it a brisk walk and we were there! When you dine here, you sit in a variety of areas.. We were unfortunately put in a room that had two large groups in a relatively small room.. so you could image the overall sound levels - quite noisy, considering we were a couple wanting to have a more personal dining experience! I even said to her it was pretty noisy and she said it was the only table unless we wanted to wait almost 40min until something else came up.. Was a little disappointing in that regard, but we bit our lips and soldiered on, trying not to take too much notice of the rowdy groups.. a little hard not too though.. Our waitress was nice - she gave pretty honest recommendations (we hadn't been there before). As we were put in a 'side room', our wait staff weren't always around when we needed - especially when I was trying to order wine. One of the groups left not long after our seating, which helped dampen the noise levels and was replaced by a smaller, and quieter group. They have an extensive drink and wine list. An entire wall of wine is pretty impressive.. The dinner menu is comprehensive. For appetizers, we ordered the crab toast and the spinach artichoke dip. Both were really delicious. We had the Remington prime rib (aged) and the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly (for us) - huge cut of meat though so did not finish it all. It wasn't extremely busy at the time we went so we were seated right away . We order two salads which were good . The restaurant it's self is very beautiful . It was perfect for a sit down loop lunch, as we sat down at 11:50 and had paid and were out the door by 12:45. The RW entree portions were on par with their regular menu, as I was visiting with someone who had been there before. For the appetizer we had the bang bang shrimp and filet sliders. The shrimp was amazingly crispy and had the right amount of heat to it. For RW you get 2 sliders, the regular portion comes with 3. The sliders were extremely tender! The four of us wanted a "memorable dinner" before we saw Hamilton at the CIBC, and this place fit right in with our night. DRINKS Cocktails are a must here. I had two That's a Peach ($12 Hendrick's gin, peach liquor, simple syrup, grapefruit-- strong, appearance of a cosmopolitan, tastes fruity but not too sweet, pretty pink color). My friend had two La Paloma ($12 Tequila Blanca, fresh lime juice, grapefruit soda-- refreshing and strong). Dominant beer list. FOOD Elegant with tasteful presentation. Still ordered the items from the regular menu cause the savings were not much if I stuck to the brunch fixed price menu. I had the Shrimp Tempura, which were okay, they needed to be more spicy in my opinion. Then I had their mac n cheese side, which was big enough to be an entree almost. It was really good. Our server was attentive and friendly throughout the evening and my drink (French 75) was delicious. However, my meal was unacceptable. I ordered medium rare filet mignon. What I received was well done. After two quite dry slices I reluctantly asked the server to take it back. She took it away, but moments later brought it back to me and asked me to check the center for wellness. It was slightly pink and she said something like, Well it's pink in the center do you still want me to send it back? I told her yes and then explained my definition of "medium rare" was warm red center that should extend towards the edges. While I waited, the manager (presumably) stopped by to inquire and I stated what I told the server. He assured that it would be corrected. At this point, no problem, mistakes happen. When the plate was returned, I cut into it and it was exactly as before. Now at this point I thought, Well maybe their definition of medium rare is considerably different than mine. But then my husband pointed out that his steak, the Remington, was ordered medium and his was quite red throughout. So they took my meal back a second time and I just had it returned boxed up to go as everyone in the party had long since been done with their meals by this point. Cooked incorrectly once -- like I said, mistakes happen, although at almost $50 for my meal, that's annoying. Cooked incorrectly twice, that's just unacceptable. I wouldn't expect it at Longhorn, and I sure as heck wouldn't expect it at a place of Remington's supposed caliber (and price point!). Management seemed to take it seriously, but then it gets aggravating when you just want to enjoy the evening out and your table is interrupted by management stopping by numerous times to discuss it. In all, the four of us ordered over $300 in food and drinks, although the final bill before tip was just over $250 bc my meal was removed. I'm surprised that desserts or even coffee were not offered -- at the least, to keep the rest of my party occupied so I could have had a chance to eat. read more

I took my daughter to Chicago to see Hamilton, and hubby told me we could splurge on dinner. This place had good reviews and was close to our hotel. We split the Remington, a NY strip steak, and a baked potato. The steak was medium rare, just as requested, although a bit of the outside was a little too charred. The potato was lukewarm, but we ate it anyway. We had the skillet cookie for dessert, and it was wonderful. It was soft, not crispy, and melted in our mouths.
