I absolutely love Restaurant Week in Chicago. For me, it is a time to discover new restaurants, sort of like an interview to see if they will be "hired" to fall into my rotation of places to dine at. Grill on 21 (GO21) came out the gate in a blaze of glory and got the job done. To the other restaurants on my list for this year, y'all better bring your A game because GO21 not only delivered, but has set that bar high for me. GO21 is located on that weird little stretch of south LaSalle street, between Adams and Jackson, literally about one block long. There is valet parking, but there is also street parking if you choose to do so. Entry to the restaurant is on the 21st floor, which is cute. Once you get off the elevator and turn to your left, you can see the restaurant and bars. I noticed some separate dining areas that I am assuming are for private functions. There was a lovely woman at an desk that I assumed was the check-in for the restaurant, but it was not. However she was kind enough to point me in the right direction to my people. The overall vibe was elegant, but chilled. There were booths on all three sides of tables down the middle of the room we were in, which was perfect as me and The Queen had an extra chair to put our furs. GO21's Restaurant Week menu was on point for me, which is one of he reasons I selected them. Dinner was $60 and offered three courses (starter, entrées and dessert) below: Starters: Lobster Bisque, Oyster Rockefeller and a Wedge Salad. Entrée: Roasted Chicken (crispy potato, baby squash, truffle chicken jus), Short Rib Cassoulet (Cannellini beans, fennel sausage, escarole, garlic broth) and Ora King Salmon (spiced carrots, dill, crème fraiche). Dessert: Beignet (Taza guajillo chocolate, spiced cinnamon) and Carrot Cake (cream cheese frosting, pineapple & carrot compote). We all got the Lobster Bisque as a starter, but I also got an order of the Oyster Rockefeller. Those came six to an order and trust me, that is plenty as that is a heavy appetizer. The oysters were of a nice size, so there was plenty to split between me and The Queen (not a favorite of The Doctor). The Lobster Bisque was very nice, subtle in taste but not flavorless. The pastry puff reminded me of a mini biscuit in looks, but it was delicate in looks. We were very happy about the amount of lobster floating in the bisque. I know traditionally lobster is added to the bisque at the end, but I have had this at other places and they don't always do that, or I assume they blend it into the bisque for flavor. For dinner, me and The Queen got the Short Rib Cassoulet and The Doctor got the Ora King Salmon. I am a sucker for Short Rib meat and love a good Cassoulet, so this dish was a winner for me, hearty on a cold night. The short rib was tender, and although Aramis brought us knives, there was no need to use them, the meat was that tender. The only thing missing for me with this dish was some cornbread. I love beans and meat when cooked like this, but some cornbread just makes it perfect. Because of the size of the bisque and the Oyster Rockefeller, The Queen and I got our dish to go so we could save room for dessert. The Doctor thoroughly enjoyed his dish because once again, he maintained his membership in the Clean Plate Club. Dessert was wonderful. The beignets were very good, although not shaped like those you get in Nawleans, but that did not impact the taste. I was not going to try the Taza guajillo chocolate sauce as I like my beignets plain, but I tried a little and it was on! It was almost like a mole, me and The Queen both detected a little heat at the end. It was so good that I ended up getting The Doctor's cup of sauce and using it on my beignets. Well done! Aramis was our server and he was a delight the entire night, very attentive, not too chatty but enough to make it fun chatting with him. When he asked how we were enjoying the Cassoulet, I told him it was great, but some cornbread would have been kismet, he laughed and said he knew exactly what I was talking about. Service overall was great. I did not get the names of the person serving bread or the one that brought our food out, but they were attentive as well, so I tipped each of them $20. I know most places pool tips, but I like for folks to know that I appreciate that extra something they do to make my meal enjoyable. We also got a chance to chat with Chef Brendan Leahy so I could compliment him on a meal well done, and to say that those beignets should be on the menu as a regular item. He was super cool and didn't hesitate when I asked if I could get a photo of him with The Doctor. There was another gentleman named Lucas that stopped over to speak to us and to see how our meal went. Overall GO21 rocked their menu and the portions were amazing! We will be returning for Happy Hour and dinner. Well done GO21!

This restaurant is located on the 21st floor on top of the JW Marriot which happens to be the entrance of the Autograph Marriott Hotel. The doorman greeted me, then escorted me to the tables. He kindly toured the restaurant and proceeded to let me know. All of the items that on the menu were curated and service was impeccable. I was only there for happy hour. I ended up going with the crab cake and a glass of wine. I was very impressed with the service the bartender gave me along with great tips for places to go in Chicago. I definitely highly recommend this place.

The food was very good. The service was fast and friendly. And the atmosphere was very nice. It was a very pleasant experience at the hotel.

Jeanine was our server and she did a fantastic job. She was kind, attentive, and helped us pick a great selection of drinks. We ordered the filets, side broccoli, macaroni & cheese, & Brussels sprouts. Everything was absolutely delicious and to die for. We left happy campers. The experience here was flawless. We will certainly return.

Most hotel restaurants are generic and provide food simply for convenience. This is not one of them. The sitting area, bar and dining area are nicely decorated and furnished, a slight notch below higher end steak houses (like STK, Capitol Grill). Most patrons, like myself, were dressed business casual. Hostess was welcoming and friendly, and water order taken and filled immediately. The server was eager to answer any questions and offer suggestions. When I couldn't decide between two soups, he offered a taste of one, without prompting. I ordered the lobster bisque - on the saltier side but delicious flavor. Not too much sherry, and the lobster pieces were the perfect size for multiple spoonfuls. Just wish there were more. Wedge salad with grilled shrimp added - crisp lettuce and generous tangy blue cheese, creamy dressing and smoky bacon pieces. The grape tomatoes had a burst of sweetness and the shrimp was grilled perfectly. My favorite part of the meal came in the complimentary bread basket: a pop over. Light, crusty with a thin chewiness inside. I could've eaten a whole basket of those as a meal.

Came for the thanksgiving day buffet dinner. Was a very cute and classy venue in the La Salle Hotel. Attentive black tie service. The buffet had a carving table, seafood cart, and tons of sides and desserts. It was delicious. The drinks were tasty. Kid friendly options too. Very nice time w the family.

Service was amazing. We came for a graduation celebration with ~10ppl. The room is gorgeous and our server was phenomenal. The food was ok but has gotten noticeably lower quality for many of the dishes that were on the menu previously. Like lobster thermidor? But with gnocchi? No, terrible, flavorless and not lobster thermidor. There was little flavor, none of the traditional fixings that come with lobster thermidor, and the little tiny chopped pieces of lobster was definitely not what I received the last time I ordered this at this restaurant.

    Steak Frites Dinner Potato Puree
    Tamia L.

Our waitress, April was attentive just a little standoffish and in a hurry. My meal, wedge salad was pretty good, crumbles a bit sharp/puckering. Steak frites was set on mashed potatoes and outside the sauce the steak was bland. My dinner companion ordered shrimp de jonghe and twice baked potatoe.Which upon eating the potato discovered it had an off flavor and discovered corner of it was black. Our waitress and the manager excused it away first indicating it was burned but that's not what it was. In the end an apology was given and the meal was simply comped. Didn't take a picture of that

Mac and cheese. Delicious, but about the same as other places.
    Jaron R.

Everything here was delicious from the bread selection to the New York Steak, to the potatoes and the Mac & cheese. All very good. The only problem was the steak came not cooked enough. Ordered medium but got medium rare. But I sent it back to cook a little more and it came back perfect. The service was great. Lots of people making sure you have a great experience. I would eat here again.

I have to give it up to the hotels that serve food and do it perfectly. Grill on 21 did not disappoint my friend and I during a nice lunch for restaurant week. (Missing cocktail photos) We arrived super early before the lunch rush and thank God we did. The staff - a thousand hand claps - they were quick, attentive, assertive and knowledgeable. They paid attention and kept an eye on us. Each time I finished a dish, there was someone nearby to grab it. The food was great. The lobster bisque had actual pieces of lobster and lemme tell ya ,.. they weren't stingy. The pieces were so large I cut them to even them out as I ate. The bisque was thick and creamy. The flavors were there. Oh! My friend and I didn't need the salt or pepper the entire visit. That's a first for me Poke bowl- fresh raw tuna and salmon. Couldn't miss it. It was on the sweet side for me but I appreciated the portion size. I was able to finish it and still feel energetic and not weighed down. The salmon was a large portion. Usually restaurants give thin or skinny slices of salmon and attempt to ration you out with starches or veggies. Not here. They also gave butternut squash and sweet potatoes. I loved the variety of veggies given to elevate the flavor of the perfectly crisped salmon. My heavens honey pannacotta did what it needed to do! Mmmkay! Very rich and didn't taste like gelatin. They even sprinkled pistachio on top and that's a winner for me. I will be returning. Now I know my money won't be spent in vain.

    Steak and Eggs Brunch
    Joneice B.

Grill on 21 is a beautiful restaurant located on the 21st floor of the La Salle hotel. Location is right on the edge of the financial district. We decided to come here for our last meal of restaurant week because we wanted to try something different. I wish we would've looked at coming here for dinner because the menu seems divine. For starters we got the lobster bisque, which came with old Bay season croutons. The lobster bisque was really good and you could actually see chunks of lobster included in the soup. For brunch we got the steak and eggs, which is included potatoes and toast. The steak was good and was served with a delicious chimchuiri sauce. The last item in our brunch for restaurant week was cheesecake. Overall just a really nice set up and well worth the money spent. I really like this restaurant and would come back for dinner for sure or even to bring people for drinks that are from out of town. I like that not only was the restaurant located up high with a view but there were several seating areas there was a library, area a full bar, and a big party area. Our server was also very nice I believe his name was Rory.

    Chicken

Irene at the host stand was so welcoming and warm. She made me and my service dog feel right at home. She even made sure we BOTH had water. Nate at the bar made great recommendations. The Caesar salad is delicious - very light and citrus-forward. The wine selection is amazing. Prisoner company - the famous blend and the zin (Saldo). If you prefer heavier Pinots, they have Lyric by Etude by the bottle. Roasted chicken was like Thanksgiving on a plate. Two thumbs up!

    Grilled Octopus. Best dish!
    Jonathan U.

Went here on a friday night and this place was amazing. When we first walked in, it was quite empty at 8pm so we had some iffy thoughts but this place turned out to be a hidden gem. It was also very quiet when we walked in but thankfully music started playing around 8:30pm. About the food, the grilled Octopus was absolutely amazing. The char, salt was perfect and it was very comparable to some of the best ones we've ate in Greece etc. The lamb chops and ribs were also great on top of the drinks, making this dinner one to remember. Our server was really nice too. Highly recommend!

Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. I bravely went for the latin-inspired latte flights, consisting of Mexican mocha, Coquito, horchata, and cafe de Olla. My favorite out of these four was the coquito because of the coconut pieces, which blended well with the latte. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the details of the latte flight and they explained the offerings. I thought there was only one type of latte flights, but I believe the one I selected was very much suited to my preferences. "Stockyard Coffeehouse" is accessible via routes CTA 44 (Racine/Wallace) and CTA 8 (Halsted) busses. There aren't tables so don't expect to sit down to enjoy your food. Service was friendly and prompt. I ordered sui mai, beef rice rolls, lotus leaf rice, zhongzi, and a pineapple bbq pork bun. Everything, and I mean everything, was delicious. This will be my new take out dim sum and bakery spot in Chicago now. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.

Although the prices are very reasonable, you could come here everyday...BTW, make sure to bring cash as it's cash only. I really love coming here after a meal because the buns are soft, light, airy, and sweet. Thus far, my favorites are: - egg custard topping with a red bean filling and - the coconut bun with whipped creme Wow, those are really good but do try their other offerings and determine your own favorite item. I have to try their Argyle location to see if they're consistently great!! Oh, one more thing, there is a ledge by the window where you can eat quickly whilst standing up but it can get very crowded in there. Xie xie Chiu Quon!!

Extremely disappointing experience at Honey Berry. As a…read morefirst-time visitor to Chicago during Juneteenth weekend, I was looking forward to breakfast here, but the experience fell far short of expectations. Service Issues:The service was inattentive throughout the meal, and concerns were not adequately addressed when brought to the staff's attention. Basic items such as water, napkins, and straws took an unreasonable amount of time to arrive, with water alone taking more than 10-15 minutes. Food Quality Issues:The food and cleanliness were equally disappointing. I requested extra crispy bacon in my omelet, but the bacon was undercooked and appeared raw. Both coffee cups also arrived dirty, with dried coffee residue inside, raising concerns about cleanliness and attention to detail. Closing Takeaway:Adding to the frustration, gratuity was automatically included despite the poor service. I rarely leave reviews, but I hope management uses this feedback to improve service standards, food quality, and overall guest experience. But I will never visit again!! Most were grabbing their items to go, but they do have a lot of large circular tables available if you want to dig into your items right away. The bakery is cash only, but definitely worth swinging by if you're in Chinatown. Egg Tart (3.75/5): This is the classic cookie crust version. Then flan center is a perfect level of sweetness and it's a solid version! Pineapple Bun (4.25/5): Surprising banger. Bread was super soft and still decently moist with a thick cookie crust to add texture and flavor. Chicken Pot Pie (3/5): This one had a bit too little of the meat ratio and somehow the form factor made the pastry much less flaky. Curry Beef Puff (4/5): Flaky crust and perfect ratio of meat to carbs. Beef is perfectly seasoned and doesn't eat greasy at all.
