My boyfriend and I were in Pilsen and hungry, and I'd had Pocho's bookmarked for brunch for a while. The vibe inside is cute and classic brunch vibes. We got a chilaquiles and chorizo benedict. I thought the chilaquiles were good and very comfort food. The chorizo benedict was more solid, my boyfriend said he wished he'd gotten a chorizo omelette instead. I did agree that it felt like the flavors didn't gel together as well / the chorizo was more masked. Overall this is a nice breakfast place but I feel with most breakfast places (including this one), it's good food you could make at home for less money. But if you don't feel like cooking/want to eat out, def a cute spot.
Super friendly staff and great space for brunch. I got the fried chicken and French toast and my niece got the chilaquiles with chicken. Both were amazing and huge! Would definitely come back!
One of the most surprising brunches in Pilsen. It feels unassuming compared to the hype of places like Kasama, but this place is worth the visit from any part of the city. The skillet: crispy potatoes, creamy sauce, perfectly cooked eggs, crisp chorizo The french toast: very sweet, but with fantastic bread texture and flavor. Well balanced. Good coffee, get it black or as mexican spice for something sweeter.
I had seen their Tiramisu French Toast ($20) featured on Instagram, and I was looking forward to trying them. My first bite of food was actually my husband's Chilaquiles ($17), and it was the perfect first bite. So flavorful with the perfect amount of salt. That French Toast didn't let me down either. Good balance of flavor without feeling overly heavy. The only thing that would have made this breakfast more perfect was if they had flavored lattes on the menu, but I wasn't interested in any of their coffee menu options.
I am very pleased to report, while not cheap, Pochos breakfast is not a crime. For those who don't follow my reviews with religious fervor, here are the cliff notes: I believe places that charge $14.95 for two unsalted eggs, two bacon strips, a spoon of potatoes, and maybe a dry pancake are committing highway robbery. I ordered the Chicken French Toast with Habanero Maple (who is surprised, let's see some hands in the air). If I permit myself to be 'that guy', it wasn't perfect, but it was still something I'd happily order again. The piece of chicken was large enough that 'massive' is not an inappropriate term. Despite its size, it was cooked and seasoned well, tender inside, and hot and crisp on the outside. The Challah French Toast was delightful! The Challah had a light sweetness and a lovely custardy interior, for the most part, at least. One of the quibbles I have is the inconsistency of the slices. One was the thickness of two fingers, and another the thickness of my pinky. The result is that the custard didn't quite penetrate to the center. I'd also like to point out that it didn't have the crunchy exterior a technically perfect French toast has. I'd also like to award massive brownie (toasty?) points for the housemade compound butter and the habanero maple syrup. The latter especially brought some unexpected punch! When it comes to their service, it was quick, friendly, and attentive. More than that, the food came out faster than I expected, a pleasant surprise especially given that nothing had spent time under a lamp. Finally, I need to introduce the elephant in the room, [deep breath] the prices. On the surface, $22 for a piece of chicken and some eggy bread, and $5 for coffee is on the steep side. I cannot negate that. However, the quality helps make up the difference. Case in point, instead of using unbranded-diner-bean-water, Pochos uses Dark Matter coffee, strong and tasty stuff! Final verdict: Pochos may not enter my regular rotation, due to both their location and prices. However, I found myself planning a return trip before finishing my meal, which is a definitive indicator of a great experience.
Food: 10/10 DELICIOUS DELICIOUS Service: 10/10 no reservations when i dined it. And the server/host was very helpful in what was the best sellers Ambiance: feels like a local mom and pop eatery. Very authentic and feel home. I will definitely comeback.
At 12pm on a Sunday, we only had to wait about 15 minutes for 2 people. The ambience is very chill, millennial-core. The food was pretty good, nothing amazing but nothing to complain about. I got the mimosa and puertquito eggs Benedict, both of which were tasty. Overall, a nice brunch option in Pilsen!
New favorite brunch spot? Quite possibly! Located in Pilsen with a name like Pochos, you're not sure what to expect... is it Mexican brunch, is it American brunch. Ni de aquí ni de allá. It's a fresh and hip brunch spot with delicious food with both Mexican and American flare Service was solid (our waitress was friendly), food selection decent (no huge menu), but the food was delicious! Both flavorful and made to order. We started with the chicken empanadas, max flavor, generous size for a starter. Mains: I'm salivating just thinking about the French toast. The chicken is also delicious and juicy! My husband ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, which has the same chicken and he loved it. We came during the week and during happy hour, which we didn't partake in, but it's nice that it's an option. It was busy for a random Thursday afternoon, but nothing crazy. I look forward to coming back and will definitely try their chilaquiles.
Updated Review: Decided to post an update for one of my favorite spots in the city, Pocho's. I always love coming back and finding that everything is just as delicious as the last time. Very cool welcoming atmosphere, and if you're in the front, they have a lot of natural light. Pocho's still has some of the best empanadas in the city. On my last visit, they had a special French toast that was so pretty I had to take a picture. The staff is always warm, friendly, and helpful. My sister and I have been coming here for years, often bringing our family along, and it's always a great experience. I ran into one of the owners the night before and decided to stop by the next morning for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised the food was still just as flavorful and satisfying as ever. If you're ever on 18th Street, Pocho's is definitely worth a visit!
We love Pochos! They don't take reservations, but we've never had to wait long for a table. There's always parking in front. Everyone is really friendly and accommodating! Food is fire!! I get the same thing every time (Chilaquiles all the way) and it never disappoints. We also love the empanadas, and I am an empanada snob. Drinks are good, cafe de olla is delicious. The Frutas french toast is also yum. My only note there would be consistency in dipping--sometimes it's a little dry because they use thick bread (how it should be!), so it just needs to be dunked for a bit longer. We asked them if it could be remade once and they didn't hesitate, so that shows you their level of service :) We love this place and everyone should make it their regular brunch spot!!

The wait was not bad, given that it's a tiny place! We probably waited 20 minutes before being seated. The staff was friendly and super helpful answering any questions I had. We ended up getting some chilaquiles - omg! These are the best chilaquiles I've ever had at any restaurant!!! We also ordered their chicken sandwich and I'm not gonna lie, whenever I read chicken breast I do not have tasty thought about it. Boy, was I blown away at how delicious this chicken (breast) sandwich tasted!!! I'm drooling just thinking about it. I will definitely be going back the next time I go to Chicago!!
This was some of the best brunch I've had in Chicago. We didn't have to wait for a table because there are more spaces inside than meets the eye. Our server was perfect. The food came quick. My favorite items were the aqua de jamaica (hibicus tea with orange juice) and the puerquito benedict (with slow cooked pork). The french toast was really thick and not too sweet, but I would have liked more syrup than the plastic container they gave. Need to come back to try the cilaquiles--looked very good!!!!
Amazing neighborhood gem! The food is delicious, service top notch, and $35 mimosa kit with fresh squeezed juice cannot be beat. Will definitely be back.

We've seen this place on social media and having been wanting to try it. Luckily we were in the area for La Carrera de Los Muertos 5k and decided to check it out. It was also Halloween weekend so it was busy. The food was delicious and savory. The chilaquiles were the prefect combo of crunchy and paired well with everything else on the plate. The French toast was not sweet at all for everything it had, which was good! read more

One of our favorite stopovers in Pilsen. Pochos delivered on the brunch menu. We ordered a few entrees and Michelada's (score on the happy hour side). Ambience, fast service and meal raised the bar, exceeded our expectations. Our favorite was the pork chilaquiles with egg and poblano verde hollandaise sauce. Portions were sizable and had enough for the next two days, takeaway. Thanks for the wonderful meal and service, Pochos! read more
Yummy! A quick Pisces Szn pop out to celebrate birthdays. I was in need of mimosas without having a reservation. A random Sunday Funday was in need. I ended up dining here, and it was well worth it. It was super cute and quaint in the inside. Bright upbeat and photo ready-esque. The vibe was right. The server who was a Pisces, that serviced us was super sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. I love when the staff has actually sampled the menu and have great suggestions. I ordered a mimosa, oh I forgot to mention it was national margarita day, so I immediately said double me up baby! It's time to celebrate. Their margaritas were tasty and made fresh no concentrate. I hate when margaritas are made with a premade mix, or premixed or concentrate. Oh please don't mislead meh. This was a cool spot for breakfast. The avocado toast was messy but tasted good. The server was attentive. Nothing stood out as being extraordinary and also nothing was horrible either. I would check them out again and try a different dish. My food companion said that she would have preferred to have all of her items combined as opposed to a la carte. read more

Pochos - Chicago, IL: The Enchiladas All the Way with Steak Just Broke My Brain I've eaten a lot of enchiladas in this city. None of them prepared me for the life-altering experience that is Pochos' "Enchiladas All the Way" with steak. Three corn tortillas stuffed with tender, juicy grilled skirt steak, rolled tight and swimming under a blanket of molten queso Chihuahua, then crowned with the holy trinity: tangy red chile sauce, crisp shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream, and a final snowfall of cotija. It's the full Chicago-Mexican-American enchilada fantasy executed at absolute peak performance. The steak is perfectly seasoned and charred, still pink in the middle, and so plentiful it spills out with every bite. The red sauce has that deep, slow-cooked chile flavor that makes your eyes roll back, the cheese pulls for days, and the cold crunch of the lettuce and tomato cuts through the richness like a miracle. I mopped up every last drop with their fluffy Mexican rice and smoky refried beans like a man possessed. Portions are comically huge, prices are stuck in the 90s, and the vibe is pure family-run joy: bright colors, soccer on the TVs, and abuelitas in the kitchen who've clearly been making this exact plate for decades. The staff treats you like you're the 100th cousin they're thrilled finally showed up for dinner. Pochos isn't chasing trends. They're just quietly serving one of the best plates of enchiladas in the entire city, maybe the country. That "all the way" with steak is now permanently tattooed on my soul. I'm already trying to invent reasons to drive back across town tomorrow. Five stars is an insult. Get in the car right now. You'll thank me when you're halfway through the plate and tears of happiness are streaming down your face. ¡Viva Pochos! read more

This place is a little hidden gem! The waitress was super sweet and patient with us and answered all our questions. Everything was delicious from the cafe de olla to the chilaquiles. Do not miss the empanadas! We loved them! I would definitely recommend pochos if you're in the area. read more

What a cute place for brunch. I will say that it is not your traditional Mexican breakfast and the price is a little steep but I know that it was worth it for what I was in the mood for. It was such a vibe and you can tell by the crowd that it was a little more gentrified than what it was when I was growing up in the city. I ordered the rajas omelette and it was delish. the flavors were so good and very original. I don't drink coffee but my family said the coffee was great. I would come back and try other items. read more
Pochos appears to be part of a new wave of restaurants in Pilsen that honor the legacy of the community in the area while offering some of the finishings that might appeal to those just passing through. It reminded me of some of the brunch places I had frequented in Guadalajara, but as a comparison, it was not quite up to CDMX standards. The cafe de olla was the best thing we ordered and perfectly spiced. The chilaquiles verdes had a good texture to the tortillas and went well with a runny egg. The rajas omelette, however, was quite dry, without almost any flavor from the chiahuahua cheese or peppers. The caramelized onions also could have been a bit softer. read more
I had a nice time here chatting with friends after some outdoor activities at the park nearby. I got the Breakfast BLT which was mid. I asked for the house salad on the side but they gave me potatoes instead which isn't a big deal but the potatoes also lacked flavor and crispiness. I wish the BLT made up for it in flavor but it was consistent and I had to douse everything in tapatio. The sourdough bread was also mid and I was missing the sour part of sourdough. However, I really did enjoy the guava French toast and it was a perfect way to end my meal. It was not overly sweet either. Service was great too other than the mixed up sides. read more
My friend lives in Chicago and had eaten here before. She enjoyed the meal so she brought us during our visit for the weekend. I don't believe they take reservations and since it was Sunday morning they were busy. We put our names on the list and the Toast app tracks where you are in the order of guests. After 25 minutes passed, the Manager came out to tell us our table would be 2 minutes. The app seemed to have a delay or just never updated. We got seated and the restaurant is cozy. It goes back past the kitchen but not a big room. Our server was really bubbly and welcomed us as 1st timers. We ordered a starter - Avo Toast and breakfast entrees - Fried Chicken & French Toast, Pocho Burger and the Chicken Chilaquiles. Everything was delicious and came out fast. We digged into the Avocado Toast so no pic! The portions are pretty big for entrees so come hungry. We didn't try the cocktails but they look very interesting. They also don't carry decaf coffee but the sparkling lemonade & fresh lemonade hit the spot. I'll definitely return and enjoy the local flavors. Note: The neighborhood looks somewhat transitional - some shuttered buildings and unhoused people scattered about but we felt perfectly safe. Street parking only. read more
This local gem has quickly become one of my favorite spots for brunch in the neighborhood. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with tasteful decor and music that sets just the right mood--relaxing but upbeat. The service is consistently excellent; the staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly takes pride in what they do. The food? Absolutely top-notch. Easily some of the best brunch I've had around here--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We ordered the steak and eggs, rajas omelette, and regular pancakes- all 10/10. The only downside is that parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours, but it's well worth the effort. Highly recommend read more

Popped into Pochos because of the wonderful reviews. Overall, really satisfied with my breakfast and the service. I like that the breakfast menu is full with lots of options, and you can even personalize based on your spice tolerance. Food was fresh and flavorful. Staff are friendly and prompt. If I lived in the area, I would def be a regular here. read more
We came here at around 1 pm on Saturday. We were seated pretty fast. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and the agua del día. The spicy chicken sandwich wasn't spicy so don't be scared of it. The portion was pretty good so it justifies the price. The water was a different combination I would have never thought of but it was refreshing. The place had light music playing so it made for a peaceful lunch. read more

Pochos is THEEE spot! I've been rocking with them since i lived in my old hood in McKinley Park and they were a block away and was so happy to learn they were moving closer to my new place near Pilsen. SOLID breakfast choices .Chilaquiles ,shakshouka, rajas omelette and chicken and waffles are all standouts. My fiancée loves their seasonal roasted veggie and eggs breakfast. Very Kid friendly spot as well. My daughter always enjoys their kids pancakes or French toast. Fire playlist is always playing here. Props to whoever is in charge of that. read more

Loved our brunch at Pochos! Cute welcoming vibe as soon as you walk in - great place to come with friends. All the staff there were super friendly and responsive with great suggestions for the meal. The food was amazing - huge portions, and so flavorful! We started with the steak skillet and the steak was perfectly cooked with the chimichurri sauce elevating it to the next level. The frutas french toast was so soft and rich without being excessively sweet. The menu is a little on the pricier side but so worth it for the quantity and quality of food that you get! read more
When I tell you the food here is so good! I was meeting up with a friend and decided to grab a bite. He was showing me the neighborhood and recommended going here.. so glad he sis! He got the Cubano which looked amazing... and I got the chorizo omelet! I loved every last bite... what I really loved is how flavorful it was without being overly pily or heavy.... Staff was very friendly and super quick also. Highly recommend! read more
