I love this place. It opened last fall and was up the street from the Hilton Chicago where I was staying. It gives off bistro/coffee shop vibes, but is anything but that. It's counter service but they bring your food and drinks to your table. The owner actually took my order and brought out my food. I love establishments where the owner is there working in the trenches. I ordered a Hawaiian latte. It had notes of coconut and macadamia nut but was so good. I also ordered the veggie skillet with scrambled egg on top. It came out in a small, piping hot cast iron skillet and was very well seasoned. The peppers, onions and potatoes were seasoned so well, I could have not had the egg, except I needed the protein. I truly enjoyed my food and can't wait to return to Chicago to go back!

    Grits and... short rib?
    Robert G.

A South Loop stop that, if I lived there, I'd be a semi-regular at. I went in after running 10 miles, so I figured anything I got would taste really good. What I ended up getting was grits. Grits sounded good. Short rib sounded good. Sure, why not have both? Honestly, I was also there for the iced coffee, because again, 10 mile run. The coffee was indeed refreshing, but y'all... the grits were art. Grits! Art! There were a few greens (watercress, I think?) on top, and the grits themselves stuck together nicely, were soft, but still tasted like corn. Around the outside was a short rib floating in a slightly spicy sauce. This was also great; you'd think something like this would be too rich, but that's why it was just a bit spicy. A well put-together dish that wasn't too much to swallow for an early lunch. Service was friendly, and it was pretty quiet inside having just walked in a few minutes after it opened. The next time I have a run downtown, Decadent is on the short list.

I got a slice of the red velvet cake and it is absolutely delicious. This is definitely something that I ate on for a couple of days and because of the size it's definitely worth the price. I think I may be spent like $13 on it.

Very nice dining experience! We came here tonight (a Friday) and had booked a reservation in advance. It was not very busy so we had good service and got to talk with the owner. The owner even gave my brother in law a free cinnamon roll. Everyone was delightful. We did the restaurant week menu and had a hard time picking our favorite dishes afterward because everything was so good. We liked the low lighting and candles at our table for ambiance! Hoping to come back soon for brunch.

Walked in to grab a cappuccino with a friend ....it's really nice with a decent bakery selection.Apparently everything is made in house which got me excited. Also, their menu features southern food which I look forward to trying. Kendall at the counter was very sweet!

My very first time visiting this beautiful little restaurant. I was invited to a Black Everywhere event here for brunch and I was excited to learn that the restaurant was also a Black Owned Business. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits together with the Espresso Martini from their Brunch menu: both were quite good. Service was a little slow but it could be because they had an event going on. So I definitely recommend this spot if you live in South Loop area. They also have coffee, pastries and a wide menu so it basically fits any occasion.

I finally made my way into Decadent! And boy was I happy. Came in one night for some sweets and desserts l and they did not disappoint! The ambiance is everything. Nicely lit, a romantic feel. It's a beautiful cafe with beautiful decor. Customer service was amazing! All staff are very sweet and friendly. It's plenty of seating and there are two levels. The upper level puts you in the mind of a loft with more plush chairs and if you're lucky you can grab the couch and catch a vibe. But baaaaybeeee!! Let me tell you about the dessert! As picture perfect as it looks....it's taste just as good! Do yourself a favor and come to this hidden gem the South Loop! Oh....AND DID I MENTION ITS BLACK OWNED. Come check it out.

Lemon cake, chocolate cake, birthday candle

Thanks Decadent team for making my friend's birthday special! They played a special song and brought out a candle and whipped cream when they heard it was my friends' birthday. Plus the cake was SO GREAT!! The slices are $7.50 but they are honestly the size of what I would expect is three cakes. You can order to go or sit down and have table service. Every dessert we've had there has been amazing, but this is the order we'd rank them from best to last (with last still being fantastic and worth the cost): 1. Lemon cake 2. Chocolate cake 3. Carrot cake 4. Brownie

A warm and kind staff, lots of amazing looking sweets and evening savory bites plus wine makes this a great addition to the area! The homemade gelato is made on premise and the strawberry was absolutely delicious. We also had a charcuterie platter and a couple glasses of wine. Prices were excellent and we will make this part of our regular rotation. Note for now, hours are a little more limited as they slowly ramp and staff up. Be sure to check in advance.

I'm a little late with this post. My husband and I decided to tey this place as a casual date night. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a young lady who later admitted that it was her 3rd when she had an issue with the register, but we were ok and understood. The jumbo wings we ordered were really good and seasoned. Truffle fries are good, and the sauce that came with it was delicious. We also had the braised beef with polenta, which would have been good but a little spicy for us because we don't like spicy food. So I wish it was an option to get it without the spice because I think we would really enjoy it. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and pistachio chocolate shortbread, which was so good. I went back a week later and got another one. For drinks, I had the sangria, which was good, and I was able to share with my husband. The only cons were they had an upstairs, but we were told its for vip in the evening, but other than us, it was only 4 other people there so I wish we had the option to sit upstairs. Also, when we went back for chocolate cake, they didn't have it that day. So I suggest calling first. Overall, we will definitely go back.

We were looking for a nearby dessert spot and stopped in around 7pm. At this point most of the items were gone, so we had a limited selection to choose from. It was a nice big space however with plenty of seating area. We got the carrot cake, gelato, and brownie. Nothing was that great honestly (very dry), and especially for the high price I would have gone elsewhere. We also got coffees which weren't bad.

This is a hidden gem. We were the only ppl there. I was skeptical at first but wow. Speechless.

The patatas bravas were flavorful. The garlic shrimp was cooked perfectly. The fried calamari was the only dish that missed the mark for us, as it was a bit too greasy. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs.
