Hubby & I just had the most DELICIOUS dinner tonight at this restaurant. Since it was just around the corner from our hotel we decided to have dinner there. That was the best dinner EVER. Our waiter, Chris, made excellent suggestions on what we should choose. I started off with a cup of lobster bisque and we both ordered salads (hubby, the house and I, the prime wedge). The salads were very large portions (we should have shared one), for our entrees, he ordered the 18 oz ribeye and I, the 8 ox filet mignon with the Oscar topping (crabmeat) served on top of grilled asparagus, hollandaise sauce and a half of a roasted garlic. The dinner was truly DELICIOUS and I have to say, was the BEST filet I've had in many years. If you're ever in downtown Chicago, Rosebud off Walton is a great place to eat!! read more

Out last stop in restaurant week 2026. We usually try to book a steakhouse to try during the annual Chicago Restaurant Week. We were able to easily book a reservation on the app. Our table was available at our reservation time. We were able to check our coats at the door. Our server Tatiana was really friendly. She gave us good recommendations for the meatballs over the salad option. For our dining experience, I got the Ribeye and Peppers. My husband got the NY Strip. We were underwhelmed by the flavoring and quality of the steak. We ended up bagging up our meal so we could season it correctly at home. Also disappointed that my husband garlic wasn't bagged up. We paid $20 up charge and they didn't bag over a half of the smoked garlic. That was disappointing. We did enjoy the appetizer, complimentary bread, sides and dessert. The carrot cake was a delight and the house wine for restaurant week pair was good. I am torn on scoring this evening. Probably Closer to 3.5. I don't believe I would try it again. The cost even with restaurant week pricing did not validate my dining experience. read more

The burrata salad was flavorful and much larger than anticipated which was a wonderful split for two people. The service was prompt and courteous with everything well attended. I came here for a Monday Night Dinner to celebrate my coworker's birthday. It was not packed and easy to make a reservation. We got seated in a cozy little corner. Our waiter stopped by our table to greet us and then gave us time to look over the menu. We ordered a bottle of wine as recommended by the waiter. It was the perfect balance for all of us. A hint of sweetness but yet a wonderful white wine taste. Afterwards, our waiter explained how many sides we should order and even helped with difficult decisions. I wish I could remember the waiter's name but he was such a delight! For the food, we ordered two 20 oz steaks and one veal dish. We ordered 6 sides to go with our dishes! Let me just say that our waiter did tell us it was plenty enough but we just wanted to try everything! We ordered mashed potatoes, tater tots, fries, Brussels sprout, Mac and cheese, and Caesar salad. I forgot that we also ordered the short rib pasta but we ate it more as a side. The food came out in a timely manner and we devoured everything. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to our desired temperature. I'm still thinking about the Mac and cheese! This restaurant has an old nostalgia feel to it. I was greeted immediately and sat in a corner booth seat. Our sever was friendly and made good recommendations. We ordered the poterhouse which was a great size, tender and flavored well but could of been hotter. The lollipop lamb chops where seasoned and cooked exactly how they were ordered. The broccolini had good flavor but a bit crunchier than I prefer. They could of been cooked a bit longer. The French fries were a bit oily and salty. Randomly found this steakhouse across the street from our hotel, the service was amazing the staff was very welcoming, even tho we were a little under dressed (we had been out all day with the children) dropped them off and walked over. Air conditioning was broken. It was so hot in there. Ok. Service started pretty good. Very attentive waiter. Crab cake was good. Shrimp was good and meaty but cocktail sauce was meh. Side salad had a hair in it. Steaks were good. Had possibly the dullest knife I have ever used. Grilled asparagus was over done/charred. I know it's grilled but shouldn't have been black. Dessert was good. Service slowed noticeably as we went along. We had no place to be but there were tables that arrived after us, ate, and left 30 minutes before we were done. Food and Service....outstanding! We were visiting Chicago for the weekend and were looking for a place to grab appetizers as we had a super late dinner planned. This place had early reservations and we ended up pretty much having the entire restaurant to ourselves. Our server was delightful. He spent lots of time chatting with us about the history of the restaurant and was just overall so friendly. We sat at a table that had a tribute to a long time regular, Mr. George Burrows. It was fun to learn the history of this patron. We had the Lobster GOT, the Fork & Knife Bacon and a side of Cauliflower Gratin and OMG....these dishes were riiiiiiiiiiich!. The Lobster pieces were nestled in butter, gooey cheese and herbs. The fork and knife bacon was huge! This slab of pork belly was tender and slathered in a smokey sweet sauce. Just returned after quite some time. Everything was perfect. The best it has ever been for us. Excellent fun service. The steaks (filets) were cooked exactly as requested. I understand why some feel the coating is too salty, but we loved it. The beef had great flavor. Drinks were excellent. Asparagus was properly cooked, and I am stupid for baked potatoes. There are not a lot of times when I am absolutely amazed at the service of a restaurant. Tonight I went to Rosebud Steakhouse with my 9 month old son, wife and parents. First off, the server frequently came to our table to entertain my son and play with him, which we appreciated. Next, my family had a few weird allergies that our server took extra care to make sure we were accommodated. Finally, when our food was arriving, half of the food made it to the table and the server carrying the other half had a collision with another team member causing the server to drop half of our food. It was not near us but it was close enough to see. Our server apologized and then said that they would remake the food. To our surprise they remade everything!!! I was amazed that they would do something like that. The executive chef came out and said that he wants his customers to be like family and he would never let half of his family eat food cold. I personally ate the bone in ribeye which was phenomenal, one of the best steaks I've had. I don't live in Chicago but anytime I'm in the area I will be sure to come here. I will also be recommending this place to anyone that is in town. read more

My husband and I loved everything about the Rosebud! The restaurant is classy, old wood and tables set not too close together. We had the Thanksgiving dinner and it was prepared excellently. My wife is picky so we usually frequent the same familiar spots but I'm happy to report that this "new to us" place was amazing. The space has tons of character, the service was top notch and the food was to die for. We shared the thick cut bacon, two salads, the dry aged NY strip and a piece of chocolate cake. For some reason I didn't have high hopes for this restaurant, possibly because it is not a well known steakhouses. It likely has a great reputation among locals though, anyway, the wife and I needed a meal tonight, we are staying at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel and the restaurant is just across the street. I ordered the Chicago Cut Ribeye medium rare, along with mashed Potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned so well. My wife got a Caesar salad with salmon added to it, her meal was really good. I particularly enjoyed the roasted garlic bulb which my wife and I promptly ate. We come to Chicago at least once per year and we plan on coming back to the Rosebud Steakhouse. read more

Five stars for the bartender and the baked potato - two stars for everything else. The ambience and decor is terrific! Lovely old time, dark steakhouse with traditional menu, extensive wine list and outrageous prices for what you get!!! I ordered a $68.00, 22 ounce "Chicago cut ribeye". A delightfully large piece of meat was served that was so salty it was inedible. I now know why it was so over seasoned because the steak itself had relatively no flavor and was borderline dry. I asked for another steak with less salt. A smaller second steak was served that turned out to be raw inside. That steak was then recooked and reserved and was completely inconsistent in its temperature throughout. Some parts well done and some parts near the bone still raw. The gentleman behind the bar was my hero. He tried his utmost best to get me a steak as I ordered. I thank him for that !!! At some point, the manager came over and asked if they could re-fire a steak. And then he walked away without saying anything when I said I had already eaten. It was very bizarre. Truly disappointing experience. I loved the look of the place when I walked in. I didn't love the food anywhere near as much. read more

I would give it a zero if I could. There was no one in the restaurant at 4pm and yet the host saw fit to place me in the back, alone, away from everybody. It started filling up and he put everyone near the front by the window, I remained alone. I assume my money is as good as anybody's, why treat me like a child when you're charging me full price? The waiter talked me into steak frites when I wanted a vegetable, then talked me into getting the steak cooked med-rare when I said Med-well, it came back wiggly, he sent it back, the cook then charbroiled the outside. Clearly does not know how to cook. They should be charging Sizzler prices for that slop. read more

The food is incredible-- the lamb lollipops perfectly cooked and delicious, and the wedge salad crisp, cold, and fresh! The lamb is served in a spicy red pepper sauce that was intense -- overpowering for the lamb but perfect for bread-dipping. The server Webster turned me on to the peppercorn sauce and that was the perfect creamy peppery pairing for the lamb.
