Was in town for a conference and lucky to have an opportunity to stay at the Sheraton Grand Riverwalk where Shula's is located. It's tucked to the right the moment you enter the front lobby and can easily be missed if you aren't paying attention, even more so because you can travel and exit through different doors at this hotel. The moment you walk in, it feels somewhere between an mid to upscale restaurant. You are always greeted warmly and the bar is directly right at the entrance which hides the restaurant a bit in the back. Foodwise, starting with appetizers, they were great. We had oysters, deep fried oysters, calamari, and bread. Everything was on point and delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with any appetizers. For the main course, I ordered the New York Strip, it was okay. Tasted a bit burnt for a medium rare. I was expecting more since this place was known for it's steak. The sides were delicious though. I had the broccolinis and mashed potatoes. Dessert, the portions are huge for the cake. I got a carrot cake that was designed to be shared by three to four people easily. So, I'm here in Chicago for IMTS and we were treated to dinner here by our incredible rep from an awesome company!! My apologies for the lack of pictures but it wasn't my thing so I had to be more attentive. Everyone, I think there were 7 or 8 of us there, raved about everything from the drinks to the appetizers to the entrées (do people still say that?) I had an incredible Manhattan, actually I had two, and I had the grilled Salmon, I believe everyone else had steak of all sorts and every bit of it was nothing less than perfect! Probably the best Grilled Salmon I've ever had!! I happened to notice that our server, Kelly, was an absolute master of her craft!! Now, this is an incredibly wonderful restaurant with a fantastic ambiance! There is simply nothing negative to be said about this place. We're from the Detroit area and I've never been here before, but I will tell you this, bring your money, and spend it here!! Perfection abounds and let me tell you that if you're lucky enough to be seated where Kelly is taking care of you, you will never want for anything. That being said, I observed some mildly intoxicated people on the verge of making some questionable comments to Kelly, and her handling and shutting that part down was not only seamless to the guests, but i don't think Kelly even knows she's doing it, as like I said, she is a master of her craft in that I've never seen someone so effortlessly deal with something like that while not really knowing she's doing it!! Also, she convinced one of our team (my boss actually) to hold off and decide with food in him about another drink. She had no idea that in reality she was looking out for him, not telling him not to have another, but to be responsible in such a way that he had no clue and it all was so perfect I just can't put it into words!! My point is that between the perfection of the food, the superiority of the comfortable atmosphere, and the flawless service of this master of dealing with people (Kelly), it had to be experienced to be appreciated. One last thing, if I may, to Kelly, I'm sorry I couldn't do more as, like I said, it wasn't my thing, but i sincerely hope they really took care of you in return for taking such good care of us!! I was exhausted after flying in and doing checkin that I wanted to eat something close so why not at the hotel restaurant? The staff was really nice and sat me at a table (bar was full) and brought water. I ordered the steak chimichurri that came with fried. I don't really eat fries so I asked if I could change to a vegetable. The server offered broccolette but he would check with the chef. Thankfully the chef accommodated and I got a delicious steak that was perfectly cooked medium rare. The broccolette was a bit crunchy which I like and had cheese on top. The food didn't take too long to come out and I was able to have a quick delicious dinner. Service was great and I was surprised there was no charge for changing the fries. Both Facebook and Google reviews are geared towards protecting the business and limit legitimate adverse reviews by burying them in a sea of sugar coated fluff or removing them without warning. For my birthday, three of my friends took me here for dinner and it was an extraordinary experience. I had the massive cowboy ribeye at $78 and it was delicious and cooked to perfection, the way I love it, medium rare. My friends had the rack of lamb and vegan options. I was presented with a side of carrot cake for my birthday. Service was impeccable, yet not overbearing. Marvelously spacious and richly appointed interior. Our server (Masiah?) was very attentive and sweet. Knowledgeable about the menu. The menu was much smaller than expected. Oysters were great. Much bigger than I expected and easy to devour. We also ordered a NY Strip, Ribeye with lobster, and 2 loaded baked potatoes. The NY strip was good, but my boyfriend didn't want bone in, but still liked it. I loved my rib eye and was shocked I finished it. I love lobster, but couldn't eat it. It was not something I recommend here. It was rubbery. Baked potatoes were perfect. I was with a party of 24 and we had a private room. The food was amazing. The waiter that led everything that night and had great energy and had all the food coming out at the right time. He was humorous, paid attention to detail, and it is best to make sure that everyone was happy. I chose the salmon dinner which was good could've use the 10 bit more seasoning. We also have a choice of a grilled chicken and a Kansas City steak and a strip steak. Everything was amazing the Kansas City huge bone in and looked amazing it took up the whole plate.
