    18 Oz New york strip
    Jonathan L.

Going into this restaurant with high expectations and high hopes. The place is very warm and calming. The staff here are very nice and acknowledging. The calamari is rather pleasant and nice, the bread is also soft and nice and pairs with the butter nicely. The new york strip is tender and soft but lacks a bit of flavor. The price is quite expensive but expected. Overall a good experience for major events or celebrations.

The Chicago Chop House hits the mark on quality, professional service and atmosphere! At last I've found a steakhouse that is worth the visit! I've been very disappointed lately with steakhouses that claim to be the best: Ruth Chris, Sullivan and even Mastro! Service: From the very beginning of our visit, service was strong. As we entered the door we were greeted well by the host who seemed highly invested in the restaurant. He even said my last name properly when he greeted us. He was very accommodating on seating to meet our needs. The bartender Nikola ( sorry about spelling), was excellent in attending to us immediately when we sat down. He listened well on what we needed in our drinks and level of sweetness. The drinks were perfect, thank you! The next shutout goes to Edwin who was working very hard on the floor: he made us a fabulous chop salad, brought out food and just filled in! He was definitely the star of the show! Great work ethic! And lastly I would like to recognize Roxana (sp?) who also worked extremely hard in making sure we had the proper silverware and our table was always kept clean and tidy. She did not miss a beat! Great service means the world when you are on the town for some dinner! Many thanks to this great team!!!!! Food: as for food, it was just as good as service! As mentioned, I've been disappointed with food quality and size! First all of our portions were big! The chop salad could have fed 4 people if you just wanted a small salad. And the salad was excellent! It was a lot more than just lettuce. Great blue cheese! And the loaded potato was just as good: the potato must of been over a pound plus all the fixings. The bacon that they serve with the potato and as an appetizer is out of this world! Lastly our steak was perfect: good thickness. Steak was cooked properly the first time, as it should be. To cap off our meal, we ordered cannoli: the desert is big enough for at least three people. The dessert comes with three cannolis. The only thing that was small was the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail consisted of four jumbo shrimps. Despite the amount, the shrimp were great! Thanks for a fabulous meal!

After a long day of walking and site seeing. We were super hungry. We made reservations the morning of. We came a little early, and were sat down. The service was amazing, our waitress was so knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. I had two of the blueberry lemonades and my cousin had two as well. They were so good!! I know chop house is know for their steaks, BUT that chicken with the potatoes! OMG!!!! We had the whole upstairs to ourselves wish was so nice.

A steakhouse experience that absolutely delivers from the very first bite Lobster escargot, filet mignon, crispy golden onion rings... and somehow it still gets better. The lobster escargot was rich, buttery, and bubbling with flavor--one of those dishes you slow down for because it's that good. The filet mignon? perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender with that beautiful center that speaks for itself. And the onion rings... crunchy, seasoned to perfection, and completely addictive (no sharing here). Paired it all with refreshing mocktails and cocktails that were light, citrusy, and the perfect balance to all the richness. Then came the whipped potatoes--smooth, creamy, and comforting in the best way--and the house bread with that soft, warm center and golden crust that you have to tear into immediately. Every plate, every sip, every detail... truly incredible. One of those meals you'll be thinking about long after it's over And I honestly need to talk about the service, they had staff that was so ready and on it, ready to serve and take orders, came around tables to make sure that we were being helped, even the owner stopped by! It was such an amazing experience and the ambiance inside is your old school steak house, super cool inside and beautiful!!!

We went out to celebrate new beginnings and they gave a special version of the menu that says congratulations as well as the delicious creme brulee. Our server, Grace, was very friendly and knowledgeable and all of the staff encountered were friendly and kind. She made wonderful recommendations like the lobster bisque instead of the French onion or the steak butter with herbs versus the garlic one. These were fantastic suggestions and were delicious. This was my second time here. Enjoyed the crab cakes and meatballs over the calamari. The brocolini was crisp and flavorful. The mains were both quite filling and satisfying. Took some carrot cake to go. Also tried both the mocktail and cocktail version of this berry drink and it was refreshing. Really looking forward to the next visit.

We had a great dinner at Chicago Chop House! We sat on the courtyard patio, which was a really nice atmosphere. It's beautifully set up with plenty of space and a great spot to enjoy the evening downtown. Everything we ordered was excellent. Three of us shared the prime rib bacon sliders, a burger, the Chef's Garden Pasta, a salad, a couple of martinis, and finished with the gelato sundae for dessert. Every dish was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the martinis were made perfectly. What really made the experience stand out was the service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Great food, great drinks, excellent service, and a beautiful patio. We'll definitely be back!

My uncle brought me here 30ish years ago when we were in town for a meeting. What I remembered was an old school steakhouse setting with superb service, excellent steaks and great drinks. Fast forward thirty years and I'm in town and a colleague asked if I'd ever been here. So I told her about my experience and she immediately said let's go! So a group of us went in and it's just as I remembered. Amazing service, spectacular steaks and a bar tender that understands how to make a manhattan. The portions were large, my steak was so tender that I didn't really need a knife. Another amazing experience. I will not wait another 30 years to come back!

Went to Chicago chop house for my boyfriend's birthday and it did not disappoint! Service was amazing, where our server offered delicious recommendations and even a personalized menu, which she rolled up and gave to us at the end of our meal. She also gave us a crème brûlée to celebrate the birthday which was Ordered roasted tomato burrata for appetizer, Delmonico steak, truffle Mac n cheese, and creamed spinach. Steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and our other favorite was the tomato burrata. Took the rest to go and used it as a pasta sauce the next day! Would recommend for any special occasion.

I really enjoyed this restaurant, our waiter was great very knowledgeable and funny too. The food was very good the Colorado rack of lamb with the mint jelly was superb. Any restaurant with sweet potatoes on the menu is good in my book and this place has a good variation of it. I would recommend it.

The beginning of a great meal.

Absolutely amazing. Was recommended to us by a friend. The staff Elena was our waitress and was delightful and pretty. Great smile and attitude. Very helpful. The food is so good. We loved every bite. The decor is rich with history and a walk to the bathroom is like a walk back in time. Multiple levels and great vibes. Go here

We had a reservation for this restaurant on Friday (my birthday) night before Mother's Day and received outstanding service from Fanny! We did have trouble on the way there as we were running a little behind and made multiple attempt to contact the restaurant ahead of time to let them know, my Fiancè was just placed on hold several times or hung up on. However I called and was able to speak to Debbie who immediately helped and passed the message on. The restaurant itself was amazing, we loved the classic music and the service we received from Fanny, she was kind and explained the menu and made my birthday dinner very special with a crème brûlée for dessert! We really do appreciate her service and the historic dinner at this restaurant. Recommend for any special occasions!

The ambience is very romantic. The second floor feels a liitle more open than the first floor. The patio might be interesting during the summer. Service is excellent. We never had to ask for more water or to replace a utensil. The bread was crusty and warm. My companions enjoyed both martinis that they ordered. Our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. The wait staff did not blink when we shared the appetizers and entrees. We tried the Waldorf Salad which was light and balanced. Everyone liked the steak tartar. The lobster special was 16oz, but the flavor was mild and a little overcooked. The dry aged rib-eye was hard to cook evenly. All the sides including the Mac and Cheese are big portions for sharing. The Godiva Lava cake and crème brulee were delicious. We saw the Carrot cake and the Alaska came out for another table and they were huge. We need to bring more people next time so we can try it.

Chicago Chop House delivers the perfect mix of historic Chicago charm with an updated, elegant feel. The menu is loaded with great options our lobster escargot starter was excellent, and the steak was cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive yet surprisingly affordable, making it easy to pair the meal without breaking the bank. Service was flawless from start to finish. Grab the Tommy Gun off the wall of gangsters for a fun picture. A true Chicago classic worth every visit.

And I will always go back there to eat. It doesn't matter how much it cost. You're there to fill your stomach and be happy.?

Definitely a great place to fill your belly!

From the $$$$ look...what is their typical bill at the end...at least a rough total? Also...has anyone ever use their Groupon deal?

When we were there it was $707 for 3 people with drinks and they add a service charge of 18% which is not the tip. Tax was about $80 and service charge was $80. We did not leave a tip because we thought the service charge was the tip included.…

Do they serve dinner as early as 12pm ( afternoon )?

No they do not. Hours are 4:30 - 10:30 pm I believe and that is when the dinner menu starts. Sunday brunch is a completely different menu, but is very good.

Is there a wine corkage fee?

I did not bring my own wine but I’m sure there is a corkage fee. You can call and ask.

    Do you need a jacket?

No, a jacket is not needed. Thank you!

    Do you need reservations?

Yes, this place is very exclusive.

Is this place owned by Gordan Ramsay?

No. You can find a list of his restaurants here https://www.gordonramsayrestaurants.com/restaurants-and-bars/

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the atmosphere is fun, and the cocktails are solid. I had the espresso martini and the 100 Year Old Cigar. Gorgeous, exciting, and I'd absolutely swipe right again. French Fries: Matched, chatted for a bit, then realized there was no chemistry. Unmatched. Truffle Mafaldine: Very attractive, great personality, and definitely getting my number. Strong long-term potential. Cookie: Cute. We went on a casual date, I had a couple bites, and I'm open to seeing where things go. But honestly, our waitress was the real reason this went so well. She was personable, attentive, and somehow managed to make the whole experience feel effortless. When one of us mentioned not eating dairy, she even brought us a free gelato. I wanted nothing more than to ring in year 45 with a great glass of natural wine... and I walked out having had a 7-glass flight and one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. The bartenders deserve their own star. They weren't just knowledgeable--they were genuinely fun to talk to, the kind of people who make you feel like you've been coming there for years. We went from discussing funky wine profiles to diving deep into '80s horror films, which is absolutely my idea of a perfect tangent. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made the whole experience feel personal and spontaneous. As for the wine: unique, surprising, and delicious, even the pours I didn't expect to enjoy. Good Funk leans into exploration in the best way--nothing feels generic or predictable. Every glass had its own personality, and the flight felt like a curated adventure rather than a lineup. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, stylish without being pretentious, and perfect for either a solo wind-down or a lively night out. It's the kind of place that encourages you to linger, taste one more thing, have one more conversation. Good Funk turned what could've been a quiet, forgettable evening into an unforgettable birthday-eve celebration. If you're in Chicago and love natural wine--or just love a spot with genuine heart--don't miss this place.

We ordered a flight of whiskey sours, which contained whiskeys from Japan, Vietnam, and Wisconsin. I also was able to order an amaretto sour, which they made with freshly hand beaten egg whites, which was a nice cherry on the top. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs. The bathroom took my a second to find, which should have been intuitive considering it was on the opposite end of where you come in. I blame the lighting as things are already pretty hard to find in the dark, but eventually I made it there-Pat myself on the back.
