We stopped in for a night cap and a snack on a Friday evening! We sat at the bar and I liked how big and comfy the chairs are. We also had front row seats to watch March madness, and more importantly the beer filling mechanism that fills glasses from the bottom! Kinda fun to watch. The bar also has purse hooks, which I am always grateful for. The food came out pretty quickly and was super fresh and delicious. The bartender was sooo sweet, very attentive and quick, and made sure my soda was always topped off. I loved the vibe and the moody lighting! The menu is definitely River North prices -- nothing terribly surprising bht on par for the neighborhood. At the time of our visit, cocktails were $15+ and the fry basket was $10. Again, not terrible but definitely paying to be in River North. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely worth it! read more

Something has changed for the BETTER. NO MORE TV in my face on the outdoor patio. It is delightful, serene and conversational now. Thank you for realizing that your customers were annoyed not enamored by a wide screen TV in their face with rickety speakers blaring sometimes sports commentating or crowd cheers, or Food Network, all competing with our conversation and the ambiance of the sounds of the city. You must have looked up and down the street and seen the full patios with no TV, no artificial sounds; just people enjoying their drinks and eats set amongst the goings-on outside. Well done. Was craving a burger and a drink, and found no vacancy which did have vacancy on a Saturday night. We were greeted and sat at the bar immediately. I ordered the picture me drink, and a burger. The cocktail was sweet and refreshing. Great bartender. The burger came out shortly after and it was huge. It was perfectly cooked and super juicy as well. Fries were hot and crispy too. Overall, pretty good spot for some solid food and drinks. The vibes are dark and quite loud, but to be expected for a dive bar. read more

Caitlin made this experience for us! She was welcoming, attentive, kind, knowledgeable and efficient! Amazing service! No Vacancy is a neighborhood spot and we were fortunate to be able to be seated immediately. It is clean and comfortable and we experienced top notch service. The food was very good. We got there after six and enjoyed our meal and good conversation. About seven the music was turned up beyond comfortable levels. It was near impossible to hold a conversation - one actually needed to yell. That was unfortunate but otherwise a very good experience. read more

Awesome neighborhood spot! I live in the area and I love coming here. The food is always awesome and the service is stellar. The birria egg rolls are incredible and I love the fried chicken sandwich. The grouper sandwich was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The chicken strips were more like patties and so crispy! Definitely worth a side order of them! All the drinks were very nice including the sangria's. The sliders were the most tender steak I've ever had. The servers are always very personable and attentive. The happy hour is a killer deal definitely check it out if you get a chance and don't pass on those egg rolls! Great lively spot for a date night, meal with some friends, or a late night drink. Stopped in here on a Sunday after doing visiting a few places downtown. I will say we loved it. The burger was better than many of the so called greatest places and the grilled chicken was definitely a strong offering. They had tasty curly fries. The drink offerings were great. Prices on par with other bars downtown. They are a 'sports bar' so we caught the second half of the Bears game and it was a great place to see a game. The service was also very friendly, honest and fast. This is a must stop! read more

Ain't too many cities can go toe to toe with the Chi with its amazing food scene and hospitality. After arriving in Chicago with tons of protests and busier than average streets, after checking into my hotel, I needed a quick spot for my mom and I to go in and gain some strength and energy after the tough travel and journey making it to the Chi with just a lot of political noise going on. With that said, we were welcomed at No Vacancy and our server was a sweetheart and did a great job filling up water and being attentive, patient, and provided excellent hospitality with that Midwestern friendliness. She and the kitchen staff were polite and attentive to what we needed. The seared brussels sprouts were so dang on great, we ordered a second round. The server had nice attention to detail and allowed my mom to try both buffalo and BBQ sauces to determine which one my mother preferred to go with her wrap which showed dedication and care which was nice. My grilled chicken power salad with veggies and egg was fabulous and healthy. I washed my food down with a beer and just felt energized not bloated or tired after receiving my protein and nutrients without too many carbs. The food was great, as the Chi never disappoints with its amazing culinary scene, atmosphere, and stellar customer service that is apart of numerous restaurant experiences in Chicago. Pleasantly surprised at how good the burger was as well as the curly fries. Curly fries came w the burger and there weren't much of the fries but they were light and crispy and not salty. I wish they added more fries. If you add it as a side it's $7. I wouldn't pay $7 for a side of a small amount. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The drinks were good but pricey and we loved the drink w the Rosemary. Overall a great place for quality food and drinks! Outdoor seating also. read more

My new favorite spot in Chicago! I stopped in here late Sept '24. As I entered I heard some Queen playing followed by multiple musical artists of similar styles. Definitely a bonus for this big music nut! John at the bar was very friendly and advised me on the menu items. I stayed for a little bit and had a friendly chat with other folks at the bar. All I can say is that they had a slider on the menu and it wasn't a very big menu honestly. I think it was a steak slider . I usually remember food I have eaten but I honestly can't remember this one . Service was great as the waiter /bartender was super nice . The drink was good as well , not as strong but not bad . It cute little place with finger food and I'll say a place to grab drinks as it was lively and lot of people in there where drinking . I'll go back again but for drinks for sure and maybe(big maybe ) try something else on the menu read more

Food is surprisingly good for a "open late" spot even though i personally don't consider 11pm open late. No complaints with the quality of the food but pricing is a bit out there for quantity of food. I do understand location plays a big role in pricing. Went to happy hour here and was seated and served very quickly! The staff was very nice and attentive through the entire meal. The food just did not hit as well for me. Given this was the happy hour menu, it was apps only so I'd be curious to come back and try the mains but the apps were lacking flavor (except the Buffalo cauliflower). Love the vibe of this restaurant. If you come for happy hour (half off draft, wine, and appetizers), be prepared for happy people. It gets loud. Our server, Joey, was awesome! He made recommendations and gave us honest feedback. This was my first time here and I can honestly say that it was very good and I was really impressed! Not only was the food good, but the service was very good too. For food, we split a few things. We had pigs in a blanket, chicken tenders, egg rolls and then the buffalo chicken wrap. Everything looked really good, but also interesting. The presentations here were really neat and not expected, but it was a nice surprise. I think my favorite was the chicken tenders. The breading was phenomenal and very unique. It had the best CRUNCH to it. Everything was very good. For drinks, I had the Granny Panties and the Dime Piece. My favorite was the Dime Piece for sure! It was very unique but also very refreshing. The pear was very noticeable, but in a good way. There's an actual cinnamon stick in the drink, which was fun to drink out of lol. The service was impressive as well. Everyone was very nice and really knew both the bar and food menu. Usually places like this are pretty snooty (in my opinion) but everyone was so nice! We had a great time! Was strolling along Wells St. and came upon their inviting outside pop up patio adorned with colorful hanging flower baskets and the food served on other's tables looked pretty good so I asked to take a seat. The red signage "No Vacancy" kinda threw me off! I walked by during winter (sans patio) & assumed it was a motel or something. Haha! It's a neighborhood vibe and low key. Apparently No Vacancy is a fairly newish spot that serves American fare food late night. Probably a good tid bit to know considering it's just a block off from River North's ecclectic nightlife scene. Turns out I caught the tail end of happy hour which runs on Mon-Fri 4:30-6pm. Score!! They offer half off all appetizers, wine & drafts. The waitress named Londen was super friendly and she recommended burria burritos and chicken fingers. I got them both. I don't do fried bar foods normally but I gave into it. Everything was full portioned and flavorful. The standard menu definitely did have some healthier options, so keep that mind. I regret not checking out the inside ambiance but I could see a large bar with televisions from the patio. read more

Buffalo Chicken Wrap was laughably small. For $19?! Made for ants. Would've never ordered. Food is good but serving sizes make this place a joke to order at. Went from 3 Birra Egg Rolls to 2, and you can see how small the wrap is. Order from Aberdeen Tap instead. Same Price, bigger serving size, better quality. read more

Stopped by on a spring Saturday afternoon. Weather was gorgeous and they had just opened their patio so we sat outside. We were just there for a couple of drinks and an appetizer. First, service was outstanding. Our server was SO nice, and super knowledgeable, taking the time to tell us more about some of the drinks when we were undecided. The busser was also very good, coming to clean plates and glasses regularly. Our cocktails were not only delicious, but gorgeous too with beautiful garnishes. We ordered the birria egg rolls and, omg, SO good! There was a Masters party going on inside. They had requested the bar's usual evening DJ to DJ their party. Popped in here after getting of the Brown Line to grab some happy hour drinks before heading to a nearby museum with a friend visiting. Blake, the bartender, took care of us, and was extremely friendly and great. We ordered a total of 4 drinks (3 beers, and a wine) and let me tell you... their HAPPY HOUR is amazing. It's half off select cocktails (I think sangria), wine, and beer from 4:30 - 6:30. We walked out of there spending only $21 and of course tipped Blake nicely, but this is almost unheard of nowadays, especially in this area of the city. They have TVs and food so I'd definitely return as well. Great experience as a whole! read more

First stop while visiting Chicago was to pick up some lunch. No Vacancy was just a few blocks from the hotel, so decided to check it out. Got there probably after the lunch rush, so no trouble being seated quickly. The server was friendly and quick to answer any questions. Fun, typical bar atmosphere. I opted for the chicken sandwich with fries. Food came out quickly, and the sandwich was nothing to laugh at, it was piled high, and tasted great. Pretty cool bar with some exciting food and neat bar gadgets. They have the bottom up beer dispensing system that is ultra fast and ridiculously good at pouring beer. Plus, it's fucking rad to watch man. I stopped in after ditching my company partner that got drunk on free drinks at an event.... So I was solo. Being alone can be odd at bars late at night, but the bartender and the other patrons were really cool. I had a nice buzz going and a Cubs game was on so everyone was watching the game and rooting for the home team. It was a moment I won't forget. I felt compelled to like sports or something like that. Anyway.... FOOD!! I had the Birria Eggrolls and the fancy French fries. The fries were pretty damn good. The lemon aioli was a refreshing change of pace for fries. Get the birria egg rolls - so so good! If you are sharing, you may need a 2nd order We also had the side chick sandwich, minus the pickle and add cheese and bacon. Delicious! Perfect flavoring, sauce was good! Our server described it like a way better version of a CFA sandwich, and I agree! Love this place in River North! Happy Hour is a hit and this is where you want to be. The curly fries and chicken tender apps are hit and great to share when you are having a glass of wine or beer. Only thing I am bummed about is that they removed the pigs in a blanket from the menu. Otherwise, I love coming here and the service is always quick and kind, the ambiance is averagely loud for a bar, but you never feel rushed or overwhelmed. Can't wait to return! read more

No Vacancy is an elevated dive bar (we get it—it’s an oxy, ya moron). Why the name? Simple. It quite literally means: No Room. For what you may ask? Even simpler: for any BULLSH*T. NV is a place all are welcome, a space developed where you can have fun. You remember what this is don’t ya? NV features an elevated American bar fare menu, which is simply back to basics with superior sh*t! Are we a sports bar? Hell no, but we still gotcha covered. Are we a wine bar? Absolutely not, but come see for yourself! Are we a fancy, schmancy cocktail bar where every cocktail is smoked or set ablaze? No chance, but we still threw some cuties on the menu for you TikTok’rs. Meet the Business Owner: Keegan M M.

Keegan Moon, a City of Chicago native, began his career in hospitality in ’97. Moon’s career has encompassed nearly every facet of the industry from grab & go concepts to casual dining, fine dining, sporting clubs, nightlife, marketing & promotions, catering & events, finance, operations management, strategic partnerships, festival operations, and the culinary arts. Working alongside Celebrity chefs including Fabio Viviani & Katsuji Tanabe has provided him unique insight into the culinary realm while refining a truly unique palate. Additional experience includes new concept development and architectural & construction oversight. Former Operating Partner of Dine|Amic, and Chief Operating Officer for Evening Entertainment Group, Moon formed Thyme Management in 2023 partnering with hospitality veteran Ivan McCullagh, formerly of Smith & Wollensky among others, in creating No Vacancy--with more to soon follow.

We started with the Tenderloin Steak Tartare and onion rings. Both were excellent. My daughter was craving the Bolognese, while I ordered the vodka rigatoni. The portions were generous, and both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The truffle mafaldine appears to be the menu's most celebrated pasta and receives plenty of attention on Yelp, but we were very happy with our selections. Service was spot on throughout the evening. Food arrived with good pacing, drinks were refreshed promptly, and our server struck the right balance between attentive and intrusive. For dessert, we shared the gooey skillet cookie. Be warned: this thing arrives at the table with nuclear-level heat. The vanilla ice cream isn't just there for flavor, it's there for protection. One unusual observation: the floors seemed surprisingly slippery throughout the restaurant, something we noticed more than once. Our bill came to $159 before tip, which felt reasonable given the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. Between the lively atmosphere, strong food, excellent service, and vibrant bar scene, it's easy to understand why Gilt Bar has remained popular for more than 15 years

That wouldn't have been a big deal except our table wasn't ready at our reservation time because the previous diners were lingering. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes outside. I understand that reservation timing is more art than science, but it would have been nice if someone had at least acknowledged the delay or offered some small gesture while we waited. Once seated, service was mostly quite good. Our server's start was a little uneven--he stopped by but didn't initially take our drink order--but after that both he and the rest of the staff were attentive throughout the meal. The space itself is interesting. The open kitchen is enormous relative to the dining room. I found myself wondering whether they could have squeezed in a few more tables, though obviously the food coming out of that kitchen is the reason people are here. And the food was a mix of hits, misses and one absolute knockout. We started with the pâté en croûte, which had a bánh mì-inspired preparation. And just so you don't end up disappointed like Nigel: Don't expect a smooth, spreadable pâté. Instead, you'll got a chunkier, terrine-style version. I thought it was an interesting take. The escargot didn't do much for me. It arrived swimming in herb oil and I found it lacked flavor, though others at the table enjoyed it more than I did. We also tried the corn dog, a very fancy and elevated version of the summer fair staple. It was tasty, but surprisingly small. The standout dish of the night was the 10-day duck breast. Absolutely delicious and easily the best savory item we ordered. The calamari was less successful. There simply wasn't much calamari in the dish, making it difficult to share among the table. It felt like there were nearly as many potatoes as pieces of squid. The halibut, on the other hand, was quite good. The fries were fine--nothing special--but aggressively salty. Then dessert arrived: a raspberry-coated chocolate mousse that was one of the best desserts I've had in a very long time, possibly ever. It was the perfect ending. Pricing was another pleasant surprise. We landed at about $100 per person, which was actually a little less than expected. Overall, Obélix delivered some memorable dishes, especially the duck and that phenomenal dessert, along with a few frustrations around timing and pacing.

Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness!
