Hide+Seek was pretty good! Came here for dinner on a work trip and had the Parisian Gnocchi ($27) which has lobster in it. The portion size isn't huge but there's a LOT of fat in this so it will make you feel full! I had had a drink beforehand too so I wasn't "starving," and I left pretty comfortably full. I was seated upstairs at the bar (there's an up and a downstairs bar) and the bartender was very nice, they served me pretty quick. The Fam and I are always looking for new places to indulge one of our favorite food groups, which is brunch with bottomless mimosas. After doing a search on Yelp, I decided we should check out HIDE+SEEK. Ding ding ding! We have a winner folks. We decided to go with the Brunch Party. First let me start off saying that Brunch Party is one plate, one side, and endless mimosas. The entire table participation is required and there is a strict 1.5 hour time limit. That said, Angelique (was our server) was on point during that time period. Our glasses never got pass the half-way mark and a good time was had by all! For my entrée I got the Short Rib Hash (Sunny side up egg, piquillo pepper, red wine jus, rosemary mornay) and my side was Eggs Your Way (over easy). I got an order of the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (honey-whipped ricotta, blueberry compote, maple syrup) for the table. Both dishes were very nice. I am a sucker for anything with short rib meat in it and this hit well with me. The pancakes were good, nice and fluffy, and the compote was very good. They weren't as lemony as I have had at other restaurants. The flavor was there, but in a subtle way, almost like an afterthought, but still nice. The pancakes themselves were nice and fluffy, just they way I like them. The Doctor got the cheeseburger and fries, which looked nice. He cleaned his plate so I have to assume it was good. The Queen got the Steak and Eggs. I had a bite of the steak and it was tender and had a nice flavor to it. Overall we had a great time and while it was only an hour and a half, it seemed longer. We had reservations for 8pm and one thing to note, parking is pretty scarce in that area, so rideshare is honestly your best bet. Good evening, I'm writing this for the management team. People accidentally leave personal items behind at restaurants all the time. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my bag of candy. I called the restaurant as soon as I realized it to let them know I had left it there and that I would be returning to pick it up. When I arrived to retrieve my bag, it was noticeably lighter than when I had originally brought it into the restaurant. Several items were missing. I spoke with the woman at the front desk, who identified herself as the manager. She repeatedly told me that the bag was given to her in that condition. When I explained that it was much heavier when I left it and that items were missing, she offered no solution or resolution. It wasn't until I asked, "So what are we going to do about this?" that she offered me a free drink on my next visit. However, after this experience, I don't believe there will be a next visit. I understand that I'm only one customer, and my decision not to return may not have a significant impact on your business. However, I wanted to leave this review to make management aware of what happened and to caution other customers. If you accidentally leave personal belongings behind, you should carefully check your items when they are returned, as my experience left me feeling that someone had gone through my belongings and taken some of my candy. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews how lost items are handled in the future. read more

Even so, it wasn't enough to necessitate the price tag, which all of my friends and I were surprised by when we paid at the end. The cocktails were outstanding - we all enjoyed our choices. For some of us, they were enjoyable enough where we got the same one more than once 0:) Our server was not very friendly - she does not need to act like our BFF or anything like that, but she was cold and seemed annoyed by our questions and such. She also had no idea about the wine, so my friend just rolled the dice on what she wanted without knowing much about it. Stopped by on a briefly day to sit on the patio at sunset for every day happy hour on a Sunday! As the name suggests, it's available from 4-6pm every day (even weekends!) Staff was really great and super accommodating and diligent about my friend's allergies and dietary restrictions. Our server even gave us a last call to order off the happy hour menu before they switched to dinner, which I thought was very nice and thoughtful! The patio is SUPER cute, very clean and covered so you're not directly in the sun. It's a little Chandon spritz garden with floral and a neon sign and a bar cart. We came to Hide + Seek for a friend's birthday. There were three of us, and one person in our group has been sober for over a year. Two of us ordered cocktails, while she ordered a soda water with lemon and lime. Our server even confirmed, "No spirits? No alcohol?" We all said yes. Service was already slow, but when the drinks finally arrived, my friend immediately knew something was wrong after taking a sip. I tried it myself, and it was very clearly a vodka soda. Instead of taking the situation seriously, our server became defensive and insisted she had rung it in correctly. She took the drink to the bartender, and they stood a few feet from our table tasting it and debating whether there was alcohol in it. It was obvious there was. Eventually the manager brought over a replacement soda water with no apology. We had to explain why this wasn't just a wrong drink. A person who has been sober for over a year had just unknowingly consumed alcohol. The response was a barely audible apology before she walked away, and no one checked on us again for over 20 minutes. We were there from about 8:30 to 9:15 and never even ordered food because no one came back. I finally flagged down our server for the check, and she responded with visible frustration, saying all of her other tables needed her. To make matters worse, after all of this, they marked our group as a no-show on OpenTable, and I had to follow up with OpenTable to explain what actually happened. It felt like an unnecessary final insult after everything else. They comped two drinks, but that completely missed the point. Mistakes happen. What I can't understand is how the server, bartender, and manager all failed to take ownership of such a serious mistake. The complete lack of accountability and genuine concern was far more disappointing than the mistake itself. The restaurant feels modern and since we were seated outside we were able to watch everyone walking by in the West Loop area (young crowd and Levain Bakery is next door). I had the French 75 cocktail ($18) and it was delicious, didn't have an alcohol taste but got me a little tipsy. My friends loved their drinks also. I had the French onion bread which came with a sautéed onion drizzle in a mini cup and it was so filling, crunch, and delicious. My friends had the lumache pasta and thought portion size was a little smaller than they assumed. We stumbled upon this spot looking for a place that was still serving food after 10 pm on a Monday, which is not easy to find. We arrived early for our 10:45 reservation was seated right away. I immediately loved the space. The lighting, decor, and overall vibe were soothing and stylish. Nice music too. When our server came by, she indicated the kitchen would be closing in about 5 to 10 minutes, which surprised us since the host had said it was open until 11. We quickly ordered crispy Brussels sprouts, short rib, Lamuche pasta, and mussels with fries (modules frites). Everything arrived at the same time and every dish was delicious, but the two person table felt very cramped. It would have been nice to have dishes staggered or to be offered an additional table for space, especially so late in the evening. The cocktails were outstanding but the pricing was unexpected. My first drink was a signature tequila based cocktail with passionfruit and aperol ( $18), while the second, which was the same drink without Aperol, was $26! My dining companions's martini came to $24 once the vodka choice and olive add ons were factored in. The drinks were excellent, but the pricing details should have been explained in advance. We mentioned the surprise to our server after paying, and the manager immediately came over to apologize and offer to adjust the charge or give us a round on the house. We declined but appreciated how graciously it was handled. The food, service, and atmosphere were all wonderful, and I would happily return. My only complaint is parking, this area is always a bit congested. There are spots on the street if you are lucky and most businesses offer valet at different prices. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with hanging decor, dimly lit chandeliers and creative wall art. Tables and bar area make the perfect seat. I stopped here for happy hour. I had a French 75 and my guest had an old fashion. Both were tasty. We had vegetable empanada, shrimp scampi, oysters and French fries. All were very good. The service was good and the ambiance was happy hour vibe. read more

Drinks Review Only! Where can you find a Mon-Sun Happy Hour in the city!? Hide & Seek is located in the heart of West Loop. I stopped in with a group of four for pre-dinner cocktails. The interior is smaller than I was expecting but I love the fun and elevated atmosphere with a large bar, fun art pieces, and tasteful holiday decor throughout. We arrived at 3:30 to take advantage of one of their classic cocktails before ordering a happy hour drink. The Birds & the Bees (tart and acidic in a good way) and French Kiss (sweet and fruity) were our favorite of the classic drinks. They were out of (2) of the cocktails we were interested in which was a bummer. For happy hour, we got the French 75 and Old Fashioned for $10 each! Paying $2 for a big ice cube seemed silly but it was clear as it should be. Either way, both drinks were tasty and all were presented nicely. Overall, it was a fun spot to stop into for a drink. The food menu looked enticing. The happy hour menu was the score of the day as I don't know many places in the city who do deals Sat & Sun! Definitely come to take advantage of that! read more

Had a really great happy hour experience at Hide + Seek! The girls and I stopped in after a loooong day of holiday shopping just in time to catch the last hour of the happy hour menu. For food, we got multiple orders of the mussels, croquettes. Absolutely loved everything. For drinks we got a few rounds of the old fashioneds (the hh doesn't have the large ice cube. Just fyi) and a few rounds of margaritas! I have to admit, the vibe here is so good, the play list was a good combo of early 2000's and some more current hit mixed in. We were having a great time. Our server, Nick, was also a delight! Without question, happy hour at Hide + Seek is getting added to the recommendation and rotation list. read more
