First mistake was letting my ginge friend choose this bar. Second mistake was not ordering a beer or cider. & third mistake was ordering a dirty martini and having it be $25. Do not get me wrong, I am totally down for ordering a pricey drink, but a $25 cocktail in one of those translucent plastic cups is not it. read more

Classic Irish pub, but dog friendly so expect to see a lot of furry friends potentially. All the staples of a pub are there in the look and decor. Several TVs to watch multiple sports games. Pretty decent craft beer selection. A tad pricey, but also it's Lincoln Park. Credit card only just FYI. It's actually a good meetup place if you're going to see a concert at Park West (which is what I did) as there's not a whole lot else at that intersection, and you can't wait at the venue really without a ticket. If I lived in the neighborhood I'm sure I'd go more often, has a good vibe, and a good crowd for a Wednesday night. read more

I really prefer this place to Halligan over on Orchard. This place takes cards and doesn't give you a hard time about paying for it. They were very nice and I love that it's dog friendly. And also I went and sat on the patio and they didn't give me a hard time. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars as they didn't have some beers in their taps, but it was also a Thursday, so maybe they just didn't get their shipments in for the week or something. I'll definitely be back. read more

We decided to host a happy hour in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and chose River Shannon to host it! What a wonderful time we had! Sophia was so easy to schedule everything with, she even had some catering suggestions for us that made the rest of the planning even easier. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Great local place, and dog friendly. Extremely people friendly too! Has a great old style pub feel to it. I visited River Shannon for my first time with my daughter, and her pup, as they recently moved to this area. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. There was lively music playing and the smell of fresh popcorn in the air. (The popcorn is also free). Giant Jenga is available for play. There seemed to be a good mix of regulars here seated at the bar and tables. I enjoyed a nice cold Green Line at the bar. The bartender served us right away and was very friendly. If you're bringing your well-behaved dog in here, you'll appreciate the water bowl and treats at the door. I'll be back real soon, I'm sure. read more

The solid Irish bar in the heart of Lincoln Park. Went by for a couple of drinks with some friends during the day. Crowd was awesome and super nice and the bartenders were very friendly. I saw the bloody Mary's that they were putting together and that's definitely going to be on my list of things to try next time! If you love dogs, this is also a great bar. They are extremely dog friendly and there's always little puppies running around (on leashes of course). read more

Went here with a friend of mine for the first time ever on a Sunday night (12/4) before the Countess LuAnn A Very Countess Christmas cabaret show at the Park West! We had a great time here and even returned after the show! Fun, welcoming and cozy neighborhood bar! Loved / was thoroughly entertained by all the friendly customers who brought their doggies with them inside this dog-friendly bar! Service here was friendly and efficient too! This is a cool place. My spouse and I wanted to catch the second 1/2 of the soccer game. Found this place online and stopped in. The two guys working were helpful, cool, and personable. We ordered food (an outside company) and had a couple beers. This place has really cool architecture, allows dogs, and has a casual vibe. It also has COVID protections in place. There was a prior review that makes no sense. There is a giant piece of plastic suspended from the ceiling at the bar to separate guests and staff. Staff wore masks. No idea what that other reviewer was talking. Great local, cool, casual, clean place. Also, dog friendly. read more

This is such a fun place to go with friends, the staff is so friendly specifically jake and dot! The touch tunes and games to play in the back are great and fun to bring friend from out of town to see a classic chicago bar. They have good vibe ma and good beer and even serve Kim Crawford wine which is up my ally hah. It's just a fun classic bar to hang at! Highly recommend for a good time. read more

Honestly your typical neighborhood pub. Nothing spectacular but a down to earth type bar. Fairly narrow when you walk in then opens up in the back. I have never eaten here but of course they have all the adult beverages you could ask for. Crowd is always interesting, I cannot put my finger on it. Let's say an eclectic mix. Right on Lincoln and Armitage just a little west on Armitage from the intersection, flags out front can't be missed. I live very close by and thankfully have not heard boisterous patrons leaving. read more

I've never felt more uncomfortable at a bar. The staff was incredibly rude and I felt unsafe. Would highly recommend staying away from this bar. If the bartender Tony hears a Britney Spears song he will threaten you - super weird, he clearly has some unresolved issues. read more

A friend of mine ordered Nachos and was not served for over an hour, prompting us to, again, remind our server who told us there were nachos sitting in the kitchen for hours and nobody knew who they belonged to. We were left waiting most of the night, which made it all the more frustrating when we needed to remind our waiter of a forgotten order. It got to the point where everyone at the table was making jokes about how poor the service was and how we wouldn't see the order we put in for another two hours. Me and my party can handle some poor service and organization skills. It's the beauty of our extreme American tipping service; you just tip lower or not at all. This was unavoidable, however, because when we received our checks, there was an included 20% gratuity. This may be a standard practice of the restaurant for parties our size(9), but I wanted to bring this up for Green Street leadership to see, because I think it is a direct reason why our service was so poor. The gratuity was already included and our server did not need to worry about ensuring we had a good time, for he would be paid the same regardless. The unfortunate part for him is that we probably would have ordered more food and drinks, raising each tip even higher. And that's not to mention the nachos that were picked up by the house after the hour wait. I want to make sure I say that the rest of the tables around us, belonging to other waiters and waitresses, seemed like they were getting wonderful service. It may have just been a bad egg. I really think Green Street Local seems like a wonderful restaurant which I have heard great things about, but my experience was definitely not on par with that. I know some may look at this and say, well there's two sides to every story, but if you had asked our waiter, I think he would have agreed. He essentially said so himself. Everyone has bad days and all is forgiven, but these things don't go unnoticed! I do not want anybody fired or reprimanded or anything like that. I really just wanted to use this place to vent and to, again, bring Green Street leadership to attention on some practices that I noticed needing improvement. Automatic gratuity is a necessary evil as there are certainly patrons who like to skimp out on money that hard-working waiters/waitresses deserve, but if it is going to be enacted, please make sure your employees are not taking advantage of the customers. That is my piece. I hope to be back one day and have a wonderful experience where I can redact this review and leave a good one. Fin

What made it worse was that she immediately brought a group over to take our table, and even they were apologizing to us because they seemed uncomfortable with how it was handled. I've worked in bars and restaurants myself, so I completely understand needing to manage space, but there's a way to do it respectfully, and this wasn't it. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and despite having been here multiple times before, I won't be returning.

Every single part of the meal was outstanding. The pulled pork was delicious on its own, but I also loved the sweet barbecue sauce. The cornbread was, without exaggeration, the best I've ever had!! It was moist, flavorful, and served with absolutely incredible butter. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and one of the best I've ever had as well. Even the sweet tea was perfect: actually sweet without being overpowering or having that bitter, earthy aftertaste that some sweet teas have. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I came back the next night and tried the brisket. It was sooooo good too. It was tender, smoky, juicy, and packed with flavor. At that point I knew the first meal wasn't a fluke. It's not inexpensive, but the portions are generous, and I felt the quality more than justified the price. I was there by myself because I'm traveling for work and actually enjoyed the communal tables. They made the atmosphere feel welcoming and a little less lonely than sitting by myself. The staff was excellent, too. The gentleman with the glasses at the meat counter was friendly, funny, and made the experience even more enjoyable. He even threw in a complimentary rib, which was such a nice surprise and a great example of the hospitality here. One thing to know before you go: the line can get long, but don't let that scare you away, it moves efficiently, and the food is absolutely worth the wait. Green Street Smoked Meats lived up to every bit of the hype. Between two visits, I tried the pulled pork, brisket, mac and cheese, cornbread, sweet tea, and a rib, and every single thing was excellent. Absolutely the best bar in Chicago. I have never had such the time of my life out at a bar. Staff was so friendly. Guests were amazing. Drinks off the charts. Vibe unreal. They had DOGS AND TOUCH TUNES. If you are looking for the night of your life PLEASE LOOK NO FURTHER than ravors shins. It is a one stop shop for all your bar and friend making needs. I have made life long friendships here. I don't think I'll ever be able to call another bar home like Paul revere Shane's. I just want to shout out the owners Ivanna lickasak she is the mother I never had. She listened to all my problems and was by my side by every drink. And her husbands hairy lickasak and suka lickasak brought me in and let me pick the the touch tunes. I can't say I'll ever have a connection like this one. I'm sobbing. Thank you Chicago. We visited here on a Sunday night. We were supposed to join some friends somewhere else and they bailed so we opted to try this place out. We arrived around 10:00 PM and couldn't help but notice that this place pretty much empty for like a few people sitting at the bar. So we decided to order a few drinks. Service was pretty bad for being so slow in there. We tried chatting with the bartender for a little but the bartender seemed to interested in the cell phone and was having no time for a conversation. Not somewhere I would make a special visit to anytime soon. Could be a cool place to come with a group. read more

It's looks to me that the people who wrote negative comments (Melissa, Michelle, and Mike) probably work at either gamekeepers (disgusting bar) or stanleys and is afraid of a little competition. I don't go in to river shannon as often as most of their regulars, but every time I do both bar managers are very nice and polite to me and my friends. This bar has a great atmosphere and there isn't any falling down drunks like most places on lincoln. You can't beat the free hotdogs on Saturday and Sundays!! Love this place! read more

Homophobic Bar. A couple came the other night and immediately they seemed to be treated differently. The bartender made them a drink and gave them a price. She came back and she upcharged the price. For the prices here, they're the same as the John Hancock. At least there is a view at the Signature lounge the only view here is the she hulk broken armed bartender and helpless Dupaul dropout Snow White. I didn't plan on coming here but I did and honestly, the bartender Becky was so chill that it made me want to stay longer. I think it was the manager or something came over and introduced himself as Preston and he was so cool and helped me choose a beer that I wasn't sure about. Such a great neighborhood bar! I visited here with friends that live down the street and we had such a good time. They had popcorn cooking in the back, which was good to snack on throughout the night. There was giant jenga that is noisy and fun to play, especially after a couple drinks! I was at this bar on a fairly slow night playing life size jenga with a small group of friends (what bar has life size jenga? that rocks!) and the bartender brought us over a free pizza! I asked the bus driver, he said he had no tickets. We got beer, and had to get a plastic cup. This pushed us to leave late, past the 6:30 time, but it was ok, only about 8-10 of us anyway. When we came back after the game, and live band was playing inside. I'd go back if I were in the area. If the Red Stars make the playoffs, they might broadcast them from there. They are not far from AMC CityNorth 14, so a quick drink there before/after a movie would be the plan.
