I was waiting for my name to be called back to Au Cheval, so I found Lone Wolf next door and decided to stop by for a drink. Clearly a popular local spot even on a weekday. I was surprised by how busy it was for a Monday night at 7pm. Super chill bouncer at the door checking ID. I situated myself at the corner of the bar and was served the cocktail menu right away. I got a Mountain Mama cocktail, which was a citrusy gin cocktail. Fruity, refreshing, and not too sweet thanks to the bitters. The cocktail was so tasty that I came back for a night cap after I had dinner. For my 2nd round I got the Do Not Carrot All. Loved the smokiness of the mezcal and balance of flavors. Shoutout to the bouncer for remembering who I was and welcomed me back. read more

A really large bar that is made for a pre-table ready drink - surrounded by so many it-girl returns Tobi's the perfect place to come in and grab a beer, cocktail, or glass of wine before your table is ready - the place is huge with tables and booths all around the outside and a large circular bar. even though the bar was crowded, the bartenders worked fast and we had drinks in a blink of an eye - I got the "thyme" drink and it was interesting. sweeter than I expected but had the unique herbal flavor promised. it was about 50% ice which was not great for a $16 price tag in chicago - the beers are a good deal though and they have a solid selection. with the Olympics on, it's a great place for a few beers. read more

I spent about an hour at the Lone Wolf and honestly it was a lovely time with my friend. the bartenders were decent and the drinks were pretty good. when last call was called I waited for my tab and inside of 30 seconds. security literally put their hands on me and said you need to leave. When I told security we were on our way out I was literally waiting for my tab, they seemed to feel insulted by my lack of respect for their authority. even though we were 20 minutes south of bar time and 30 seconds removed from me paying my bill. this experience was tiresome and I don't think I would go there again. read more

Cool ambience. Limited selection but nice choices on dinner menu. Services was a little slow, though server was sweet. Looks like they need to insulate their hvac because there was dripping throughout the space. I'd love to go back for brunch, as they apparently have a different menu for that. They have some basic Chicago food options for food and there is a good amount of seating. You will find this place buzzing with people on a weekend. Everyone has bad days, but this was the worst experience I've had with a bar. My group went to Lone Wolf after a work event, somewhere quiet to chat with friends. The bouncer refused entry to one of our group members (a musician) simply because she was singing while coming inside the bar. There was no disruption or issue, she wasn't drunk, just someone in a good mood, and he immediately told her she needed to go home. When my significant other asked why our friend wasn't allowed inside, the situation escalated way out of hand. After our friend left and the bouncer finished checking other IDs, he angrily walked over to me and told me we had to leave, saying, and I quote, "get her (my SO) out of here now before I embarrass her." For context, my SO and I had already been allowed inside the bar when this happened, and we couldn't even explain to the rest of our group what was going on. As we were exiting, I commented to the bouncer, calmly, I might add, "you sure like your power". He then responded by following me outside and getting in my face aggressively on the sidewalk after we had already left. It was unnecessary and the only reason he backed off was when I asked him directly, "Are you going to assault me now?" I understand that bars need security, but there's a big difference between doing your job and abusing the authority that comes with it. I'm sure there will be some alternative narrative that management responds with to defend their reputation, which is fine. All I can say is that if this is how Lone Wolf treats potential customers, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

The music inside was quite random on a Friday night (they were playing Spanish music I think?); it didn't feel quite like danceable music and most people were sitting at tables, but it was still lively inside. It was strange how we were basically being ignored, while people that walked up to the bar right next to me were being served. Their drinks were great, though! My colleague and I dined here while on a business trip in ChiTown. He'd heard about this place on the corner with amazing burgers. Sadly, so did everyone else because the wait was an hour. We tried to wait it out but eventually we spotted Lone Wolf right next door and our stomachs pushed us out the door of the dark, loud, crowded 'diner' known for burgers..and eggs. Funky, edgy, with good music and immediate seating, we tested Lone Wolf out. The Lone Wolf has a fun menu with good cocktail options to boot. I very much enjoyed this unplanned meal and would recommend it to those who get a kick out of 'foodie' type menus. One star off due to the execution of the menu lacking the right touch. I was especially miffed at them messing up truffle fries. But all in all, a good place to hang out. read more

I had accidentally spilled a little bit of water onto the bar and security escorted me out 5 minutes later, saying the bartender said I had too much to drink? WTF? I was just sitting there watching sports and was polite the whole time. Had a draft beer there, tipped, that happens, I apologize and then he decides I need to leave. Just moved from out of state and never coming back. Horrible experience. You'd think there's more to the story, but I'm just as surprised. Never had that happen before. At 2am, I got a notification that I was charged an extra $1.20 by them. My tab hadn't been closed so they decided to try to sneak in another charge even though I had already paid for my drink and even left a cash tip for them! Incredibly disrespectful staff, from the front to back. Lotta bars in Chicago, do not go to this one. Go to Moneygun or Bodega instead, at least the bartenders are decent human beings and also won't ignore patrons for 15 minutes at a time when it's not crowded. read more

We were in town for a wedding and had gone out to dinner down the street. We were just looking for a spot to get a drink after dinner. Lone Wolf had decent reviews and was on the way back to our hotel. It was the weekend before Halloween and a lot of people were in costume. It was mostly people in their late 20's and early 30's. I'd peg it as a destination for people who don't have kids yet. In a lot of ways it is a complete hole of a bar, but maybe a nice dive for yuppies with cash to burn? So overall I enjoyed our stop in the Lone Wolf. It is a decent bar, nothing that I'd go out of my way to hit up, but also a perfectly fine option if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Heads up heads up! If your looking to leave and have to drive home with one eye open THEN COME HERE! I had two Tito's with sprite and left not knowing if I could drive home. One friend barfed right at the table and the rest of us had BEYOND horrible stomach pains the next day! We could not get out of the bed! I'm not sure if they switch Tito's for low bottom barrel liquor, but something was really off! Tito's ain't sweet and what I drunk was extra sweet. We've been in the neighborhood for about a year and haven't paid a visit to this place until about two weeks ago. I wish we hadn't. We had a friend from out of town visiting, so we hopped around to a few places. We came to the Lone Wolf to meet a group of friends. The security was awesome - really nice guy. The bartenders weren't overly personable, but I get it, it's busy. The drinks were okay and we were able to get them quickly. Why the poor rating? Our friend had brought in a can of sparkling water. Asked the bouncer if it was cool to bring in, he said whatever because it was water. The bartender saw them with this, didn't question it. It wasn't until about 20 minutes later - after we had ordered two rounds of drinks - that a dude came by and berated us for this water because outside drinks aren't allowed. I initially apologized for the outside drink and said I understood, but there hadn't been a problem when we asked about it as we came in because it was just some water. Then the guy MOCKED ME. Truly would not have been any form of an issue - I apologized and didn't want to be a bother. We asked if we could bring it in. Not one person raised any concern, just this a-hole clearing the tables. Everyone has a bad day, I get that, but this dude shouldn't be working anywhere near a customer. read more

Cool place to hang out until our reservation was ready at Au Cheval (11/2 hour wait) Sat the bar and the guys are cool to talk to as I talk a lot lol Clean place with clean bathrooms. I had a boilermaker Depth Charge: Eris cider which was good and dry and a shot of rum for $12! My husband also had a boilermaker Resident Evil: Zombie Dust draft and a shot of Mezcal He loved it! Such a fun, accommodating spot for a large group if you're looking for outdoor seating. Our group of 15 visited last weekend around 9pm and claimed 3 picnic tables (6 max per table). For large groups, the "get your drinks yourself" model worked well so there was no confusion with billing. Great selection of drinks, including some awesome ciders I tried for the first time. Staff working outside (2 gentleman) were extremely nice and patient with our group. We'll definitely be back especially as the weather gets nicer! read more

Orders are taken in multiples of 6 tamales only and sold until they run out. Tamales come with 2 containers of salsa verde. They're on the small side but are super tender and relatively cheap ($9 for 6). The booths are comfy and the music in the background provides a nice bar vibe without being too loud to have a conversation. They have plenty of draft beer options, canned beers and ciders, even La Croix if you need a non-alcoholic option. When the weather's not rainy or too cold there's usually outside seating set up. read more

I had a pretty good experience with my friends on Friday night! We came here for a few drinks because we were seeing if our Au Cheval 3 and a half hour wait would be able to be passed here... but we ended up not making our reservation anyway because that's ridiculous, but that's a different story (seriously though, this business probably has wonderful amounts of business because of everyone waiting for Au Cheval). We ordered spicy fries and fried pickles to share, and these were SO good. The spicy fries have cayenne pepper cooked on top of them which was such a great flavor, and the fried pickles were actually very breaded for how big they were. I like when fried pickles have a lot of breading on them because some places don't bread them enough, in my opinion. I also really like that they are cut into larger spears, rather than coins. When we first got here, we couldn't find a seat because it was "first come, first serve" and they were all taken. However, we were drinking and standing by the bar and a couple were really nice and got out of their booth after their date there, and allowed us to sit there as they were leaving. One improvement I definitely have for the place is that there should be waitresses walking around so that you can order food and drinks at the tables. We asked one of the bus boys about it, and he said we had to order at the bar. We had to go to the bar each time we wanted something, which became annoying. Another annoying thing was that the girls' bathroom is downstairs, and the stairs are super uneven. This is scary because hello, girls wear heels and a drunk girl, heels, and uneven stairs DO NOT mix. Plus, why is the guys' bathroom upstairs? Idk, this was just very odd planning in my opinion. My beer of choice here is Three Floyd's Gumballhead. They have it on tap, and it's sooooo good! read more

Horrible experience. The bouncer was incredibly rude towards us for being out of state IDs and denied us as we are OVER 21. Never would recommend as clearly this is a hostile environment from the get-go. Do better and hire new security guards and maybe invest in a scan system as many people have been scammed. read more

(Note this is the only food option here) You can get 6 tamales in a zip loc bag for $9, and it comes with a disposable plate and plastic utensils and napkins. You can choose from a couple different options, but can't mix and match the tamales--one bag is one kind of tamale. Great for sharing with friends or a whole meal for yourself. You get salsa verde on the side too! Overall very satisfying. Large selection of beers and fun cocktails too! Love the casual and moody vibe. Good place for hanging out after work. At 6:30 pm on a Friday we walked in and there was plenty of booths and tables free. It got more crowded an hour or two later. Will be back! read more
