First stop on my Chicago tour. Man was my engine revved after walking a mile and a half mile past every bar known to mankind. Was getting so jazzed to get to this spot my buddy raved about that I almost had to take a dip in the Chicago River to cool off on the way. Decided not to so rolled into the bar dry. Buddy was already on his way to tipsy town so i guess the whiskey cokes were strong. That's a plus. Minus: everyone ordering cocktails and not a lot of bartenders so waiting for my beer took forever. Maybe have a self serve beer station for the patrons that wanna just get a quick one since everyone else was getting fancy. Kind of confused by this place. When walking by the sign above says "Three Floyds Brewing" with the Three Floyds logo. I used to live in Chicago and frequented the original Indiana location. I was happy to see this sign while visiting Chicago. We stopped in, grabbed a booth, and checked out the menu. They do have quite a few 3 Floyd's options available, including Zombie Dust and War Pigs. They also serve craft cocktails and some interesting "boilermakers". I ordered the Chicago handshake (Old Style and shot of Malort). On a Thursday evening, it was busy and all service is conducted at the bar. There was jazz music playing that didn't seem to fit with the rest of the ambiance and at times distracting. Came here with a friend for a quick drink before we got food at another restaurant. The place was somewhat full with most tables and bar chairs pack, but we luckily found two seats at the bar. Unfortunately, the bartender we had on this date was extremely unwelcoming and looked like she didn't want to be there. She only greeted us with "what are you ordering" and I got the Pretty Positive cocktail. The drink was fair and nothing too special than your typical Paloma styled tequila drink. The service was just extremely slow and we couldn't find our bartender anymore. We had to flag down another person just for our check. Lone Wolf has some type of partnership with Three Floyd's. I don't know what it is or how it happened, but I'll tell you I don't mind one bit. Zombie Dust on tap, Gumballhead on tap, other great FFF beers on tap. And this past Sunday I ventured in with the purpose of trying Dark Lord. Yes that's right folks, they had DARK LORD on tap! Dark Lord was $10 for a glass. La Noche Se Mueve was $7, Red Death ran me $9. For a beer girl like myself who doesn't like waiting in 4 hour lines, this was a joyous occasion marking a great milestone in my beerscapades. Stopped in here early on a Saturday while we "enjoyed" our two hour wait for a spot at Au Cheval. No table service when we were there. We grabbed a booth and hubby ordered at the bar and brought the libations back for us to enjoy. Nice "on tap" choices of local brewers. Hubby originally ordered the Spiteful Lager for me. I thought it a bit too thin. I preferred (actually really liked) the Metropolitan Flywheel that he originally got for himself. He let me have it though. What a nice guy! When we went for our second round I got a second Metropolitan Flywheel and hubby tried a Belgian style white ale which was okay. Hubby was really hungry and we were faced with a long wait for Au Cheval so he ordered a slice of cheese pizza. When he first brought it over to the table, I thought - "this does not look good". Can't judge a book by its cover or pizza by its look. I didn't want to try it or ruin my appetite for the upcoming burger but hubby encouraged me to have a bite. Man, this was the best slice of pizza I have had since my last visit to NYC. Certainly this is closest you are going to get to NYC pizza in the Chicago area. Lone Wolf has been in many a discussion for happy hour shenanighans in the West Loop. It's convenient to downtown, located a stone's throw from the best restaurants in the city and they have four dedicated taps to Three Floyd's beer. Needless to say, my discerning beer-loving friends and I end up here often. The bar is a large one room layout with a U shaped bar right in the middle and booths along the perimeter. It's dark, dimly lit and loud. I love it. They have a full bar and maybe a dozen taps of well selected craft beers for your drinking pleasure. There hasn't been a visit yet when Zombie Dust was not on offering, and, not coincidentally, ordered frequently by myself and all I was with. Most pints were $7 although some higher abv brews are served in smaller glasses. I'm usually here to catch up with friends over a few pints and haven't had any of the food. They've got English pub staples that you rarely find on this side of the pond: Scotch eggs and pies. It just makes an old expat chap feel like he's right back in dreary old London. Don't come here if you want to be ignored by the bartender. Today was the first time I tried out this place as many of my friends have recommended it. Anyways the security guard is rude as heck, and second of all the chubby white bartender is as bad. I stopped in here on a Saturday night and really enjoyed myself! The drinks are fairly priced, especially in the West Loop, and didn't hurt my wallet too much. Have been here a couple times on different occasions and it is a nice bar to just hang out at, chill at, or kill some time at. It's a couple doors down from Au Cheval, which always has a wait. Head on over to Lone Wolf to get a beer or two and wait for your call! You'll likely have to show your ID as soon as you walk in the door. There's a bar area, a couple of booths, and a bunch of tables - take your pick! They have a couple of screens up on the bar, but they're pretty small. I had some sangria across the street @ Nia Restaurant with a friend of mine who was killing time with me waiting on her date that was gonna take place @ Lone Wolf. Cool spot for good drinks, later evening people watching, and surprisingly good food for a hip bar. When I went it was fairly late, so it was loud and busy but we managed to sneak a few seats at the bar. The bartenders were stretched a little thin, but they were helpful and it never seemed that long between check ins from them. We didn't get any custom drinks, but the drinks we had were good even though I was looking for a slightly bigger list of options for beer. The atmosphere and drinks are great, but it was the food that surprised me. From the look of the place I wasn't expecting too many tasty food options, but they have a nice sized menu for a bar, and as soon as I smelled the food another table ordered I knew I had to get something too even though I wasn't that hungry. Came for drinks after having an early dinner at the Girl and the Goat. This place was termed to me as a dive bar, and if it's classified as a dive bar, then it's the nicest and cleanest dive bar I've ever seen. There were plenty of seats inside on a Tuesday night. I've actually been here a handful of times as I do seem to enjoy the overall hipster-ish vibes. I've experienced Lone Wolf both when it's completely slammed on a Friday night and most recently when it was completely empty. Either way I seem to have a good time when I'm here. But note that the prices are a bit on the pricier end probably due to the surrounding area. As most people have mentioned, yes they do carry some harder to find three floyds beers on tap which occupies typically half of their 8-10 beer taps. As I recall, most tap beers are $6-$7 but seem to come in a smaller glass. Cocktails you're looking at $12-$18 per drink. If you really on a budget, they always got the $4 schlitz tall boys. Hungry you say? They do offer food and snacks ranging from $4-6 which isn't too bad if you need something to hold you over. Come to think of it, Lone Wolf is a great bar to stop by to grab a round or two while you wait for your table reservation at one of the many great restaurants near by. We only came here because it was a 3 hour wait for Au Cheval, the weather sucked and we needed to kill time. For that reason, it serves its purpose. I would come here for no other reason. The drinks suuuuck. The first cocktail I had was so bland it didn't taste like anything. The second - a boozy coffee was certainly nothing special either. I would steer clear of their mixed drinks and definitely stick to bottles. The space is large with a bar in the center. It was pretty busy but we managed to snag a table. There is a self serve table for water. Otherwise you go to the bar for your drinks. There are no servers, at least not when we were there. I'm honestly really surprised with all the great reviews. I honestly don't have anything nice to say about our visit here. read more

What a damn gem. I came here after a wedding recently for the after party celebration, and I'm thrilled that this was the bar of choice. It was a Saturday night around 12 when our group wandered in, and we easily found a table (I'm also not sure if they just reserved one for us, but I'm going to guess not since it's a bar?). I've never heard a bar play such fantastic music to match my taste: Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, All Time Low, and THREE Fall Out Boy songs played in a row. Probably the best experience I've had music-wise while out drinking aside from going to a literal Emo-themed night somewhere. The whole setup in here and staff were really unique and comforting as well, and the bathrooms were cool-looking and very clean! Pretty decent spot for work happy hours, but it's crowded and unless you like Three Floyds, the drink options are somewhat limited. If you like hoppy beers, Lone Wolf suddenly gets a lot better because they have at minimum four Three Floyds beers on tap at all times. Three Floyds is however an extremely hoppy brewery. But if not, then Lone Wolf tends to be strangely crowded (people coalesce near the back of the bar and there's less room than it looks like). It's also very loud for a happy hour or pre-dinner spot and I wouldn't really go here for a late night spot either. This spot is really close to Au Cheval, so I'm sure they get a ton of business as a result. That's what drew us in here for a drink. I really liked the vibe of the place, it's nice and open and there is a full wrap around bar for people to sit. It has a retro feel that adds to the ambiance. They have a great list of beers on tap to choose from. The bartenders were available at call but unobtrusive. It was busy but didn't feel overly crowded. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the bathroom being down in the basement - seemed creepy to be down there alone but guess what - I survived. Bathroom is clean and all good, just in an odd spot. Great bar to kill some time while waiting for a table at some of the surrounding restaurants. They have several beer from Three Floyds on tap. Zombie Dust (APA) being one of my favorites. They also had Gumballhead (American wheat beer). The whiskey selection was pretty decent with a couple from the BTAC. I didn't look at the cocktail list or the food menu so I can vouch for those. I ventured into this establishment with my husband and a group of friends on Saturday Oct. 4. The main reason for the abysmal rating is the craptastic attitude of bar back. This unfortunate, miserable, crotchety individual descended upon our table, yelled at my husband to "MOVE!" and grabbed drinks off the table (regardless of whether or not we were done with them). When my husband told the manager about the bar back's behavior (explaining that yelling at a patron to "move" is highly unprofessional and reflects poorly on the business), the manager was uninterested and unresponsive. The second reason for the one-star rating is the bartender's inability to make a vodka soda. This minimal-ingredient beverage should be easy peasy for even the least skilled of bartenders, but my girlfriend's vodka soda tasted like nail polish remover with a hint of vomit. Lone Wolf's only redeeming feature was the professional and friendly bouncer working that night. In summary, we will not be back. Situated conveniently next to Au Cheval, I often wonder what percentage of their clientele is playing the waiting game until their number is called to embark on the deliciousness that is next door. I know this because the only times I've been to Lone Wolf is when I am waiting for my table. Regardless, it's a cool upscale hipster-type joint that offers a variety of libations, Three Floyd's drafts, additional beer options, and a small snack menu. It's no frills and moderately priced. If you are lucky enough to snag a big comfy booth you could sit all night and people watch. Aside from Haymarket it's really the only other bar on Randolph as everything else is mainly restaurants.
