If I could give this bar 10 star reveiw I would. Myself and my dad moved to the states a few years ago from Ireland and live in Dallas now, came into Chicago for the Oasis show. We have visited this bar everyday since we've arrived. Absolute quality craic in here. Big shout out to the lads behind the bar, Ivan , Stewart, Brian and Colin. Oh my... I just loved my experience at Celtic Crossing. This pub is the epitome of Irish hospitality and culture all wrapped up into a beautiful little place with a whole lot of atmosphere. Paddy the bar man was just so great. I loved reminiscing with him and truly felt like I was back home. No food here, it's truly a wet bar, but we did manage to get some Tayto's which were a real treat the Guinness was outstanding.. just like you would get back home. I think that's a first for me to experience outside of Ireland!! No TV's, no sports .. just chin wagging and it was great. I loved all the photos and artwork displayed. It just enhanced the whole vibe, not that it actually needed any enhancement. A great night and one I'll remember for a while. Don't miss! read more

We were in town this weekend do our annual book club's Christmas get together. Two of us stopped in on our way back to our rental to have a Bloody Mary and ran into a Bingo game. Friends were called, and soon seven Wisconsin women dressed in Packers holiday sweaters were seated at the table with our daubers at the ready. This Irish Bear's bar was so warm and inviting. We felt very welcomed and appreciated the teasing that was handed out with an Irish wink. A very enjoyable afternoon! Thank you for making a "by chance" find a written addition to next year's visit. I lived in Manhattan for 7 years ~ and spent most nights at my local Irish pub drinking, eating and conversing with the regulars. In New York City there are Irish pubs on practically every block, some blocks have 2 or 3. Most are very authentic; Irish bartenders, multiple Irish brews on tap and a great Irish Whiskey selection. In Chicago, not so many. There are Irish pubs, but a lot of them are staffed by college kids and they don't necessarily have a wide selection of brews or whiskey. The exception is Celtic Crossing. The staff are all excellent and they carry all the brews & whiskey you would expect. Also the best Guinness pour in the city. This is my new go to spot......clean, friendly and always fun. read more

They really know how to pour a good Guinness here. Hung out with a friend here last night. The other regulars were friendly and welcoming. After Guinness went with a Miller high life. After the miller high life asked if they had cream for a white Russian. Not a lot of bars carry creamer because it has a short shelf life and it could easily go bad quickly. Normally I'd order something else if they don't have cream. For the second time in my life the bartender walked briefly next door to get milk for my White Russian!! I was extremely impressed it had only happened once to me before. Outstanding service. They played Irish music which is interesting. Before we left some customers my age or younger came in and the music switched to like pop music from when I was a tween. read more

I was visiting Chicago this weekend and took a late night walk from my room in search of Portillo's to get a hot dog . I got lost and ended up here . I'm glad I did because the owner was Super nice , bought me a beer on the house and ended up bringing me a hot dog and a beef sandwich from Portillo's . I ended up having a nice conversation with him and another fellow Chicagoan and stayed for more beers . They really do make you feel at home here . While on a recent pub crawl of Irish pubs in Chicago, we consistently heard that Celtic Crossing was the place to be (even from bartenders at other pubs). We hit Celtic Crossing as the fourth and last of our pubs that day, and it was immediately clear that we saved the best for last. Great atmosphere, phenomenal & friendly service, cool music, excellent drinks, and a laid back group of regulars make this an outstanding and authentic Irish pub. One of my all time fav Chicago bars and bartender PJ, late of Chicago Cut and the old lawyers' bar at Smith & Wolinsky's downstairs (yea, you know him, who don't ?). No need to get on a 7 hour flight to Dublin....just come to Celtic Crossing and meet the proprietor (PJ) and his two sons and you've arrived in Ireland (but it's in downtown Chicago). Full assortment of beer on tap, including Guinness, followed by a wide assortment of Irish whiskey's. While the bar options are excellent, the warm & friendly feeling makes this place special. We highly recommend Celtic Crossing as a throwback to old Ireland where friendship is cherished and camaraderie is second to none. read more
