I was a little skeptical after looking at the reviews, but hubs and I were tired and just wanted a quick dinner option close to the hotel so off we went. It was quite loud in the restaurant (albeit a nice pub-like atmosphere) so with the pleasant weather we chose a sidewalk table which ended up being great! We split the Irish Curry Chips for an appetizer - so good that we ordered the stuff to make it at home! Reasonably good wine selection. I had the flatbread with mushrooms and goat cheese and loved it; hubs had the salad and enjoyed it. Our server was very helpful and attentive.

We stopped in for lunch. We ordered the Irish Curry Chips & Spiced Corned Beef Sliders. They were both so very delicious! There was so much more on the menu I wish I could have tried - but just didn't have the time in Chicago. We did the apple tart & custard for dessert. It was the perfect complement to the chips & sliders. Our server was great - friendly, answered all questions, had great suggestions! As far as the ambience, it was exactly as you'd expect an Irish Pub to look.

This is a beautiful building and a fun Irish bar. So of course we had a big Bavarian pretzel. It came with some tasty sauces, beer cheese which was more like cheese whiz, no beer flavor and a spicy ground mustard. Janessa was a fabulous bartender. I'm confused as to why they don't fill the drinks up higher. The Brandy Old Fashioned was pretty strong. It's a little pricey for what you get here.

It just feels good the second you walk in. It's warm, cozy, and welcoming. It's a great place where you can grab a cider, watch the game, and actually relax. Our server was incredibly kind and enthusiastic, which made the whole visit even better. The sausage rolls are a must. And the curry dipping sauce they come with? I would (and have) put that on literally anything. The spice bag might be my new favorite thing. It's chicken pieces, fries, spices, peppers, onions, all shaken together. The chicken was juicy, the fries were crispy, and it I kept going back to it even after my entree showed up. I ordered the corned beef hash from the brunch menu and you can tell it's homemade. Even better with a little Irish mustard. My partner had the grilled cheese and it was way better than either of us expected. With the snow coming down outside, it all felt like peak comfort food. Don't miss this place. It's exactly the kind of pub you want in this weather.

I came to Emerald Loop for food and drinks before going to see a theater show. It is one of the few places in the loop that has a happy hour that goes to 7pm. Fun Irish themed bar with a big afterwork crowd. They have a pretty good happy hour with a lot of option that include food and drink. My friend got the mushroom flat bread which she said was good and it was big. My friend got the fried pickles which weren't great. There were a lot of them but they weren't well seasoned and they were too heavily breaded. I got the carne Asada steak salad which is good but I think its weird that it comes in a tortilla bowl but hey you have the option to make it into a burrito. Our waiter was good and made sure we were never waiting too long. I would recommend this place as one of the best happy hour/dinner spots in the loop.

Stopped in for dinner. Service was ok, she was a vegetarian so she could really recommend things. So I decided to go with bangers and mash for the Irish spirit. For was ok. Nothing to write home about. It's more of pub food and drinking place. They was getting ready for st paddies day.

We tried Emerald Loop because our Illinois family suggested it! It did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was delicious! The service was great and everything we ordered came out exactly as requested! The portion sizes are generous too. The atmosphere was cozy and fun! Definitely try Emerald Loop if you are in Chicago!

This restaurant is open until 2:00 am. We were recommended by Paul at the Hoyt's. He gave us a flyer for a complimentary appetizer. Inside was packed, so we sat by the bar for faster service as we were hungry. This is an Irish pub- inside with decorated in green and the light were dimmed. We started off with our free appetizer- sweet chilli wings. These were so spicy but good! I had a Passion fruit margarita and the blackened Salmon.

We tried emerald loop before a show at the Chicago theatre and made a reservation for dinner on a Saturday evening at 5pm. It wasn't too busy when we got there but did fill up later on as we ate. I got the espresso martini which was super smooth and delicious. I liked that it was on tap and made with nitro cold brew. My husband got a sample of the Irish cider but said it tasted like apple juice so he didn't get a full size. I ordered the sausage roll from the appetizers and when it came out didn't have the curry ranch which I was excited to try and it took a few times asking the server to finally get it. The roll was great and I liked it with onion jam. My husband got the bangers and mash and loved it. We did also hear the table next to us have issues with our server so it seems that the service can be hit or miss. Overall a really lovely place for some solid Irish food downtown.

Stopped by during happy hour while walking around down town. We got a table outside and got a couple blue moons and a sausage roll. The sausage roll was amazing! It was just sausage on a puff pastry but they paired with real mustard, a jelly, and a sauce I was not familiar with. The jelly was hands down the best with the roll. I loved the other sauces but the jelly was so delicious with the sausage. Our server came by a few times to make sure we were doing good. I'd definitely come back and choose outdoor seating again.

Seated right away when we arrived. It was very festive, and they had some dancers. I didn't like that they go table to table to ask for donations though. That's a turnoff, but they didn't come to ours. The burger was good, so was the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The service does take a little longer than normal. Overall a good experience.

I think there were some kind of corporate happy hour happening in the back, but a friend and myself just came in for quick drinks. I usually don't drink on the weekdays, so I ended up just getting an iced tea and him a tequila soda, but because I don't drink, we decided to get an appetizer and we browsed the menu for a minute and ended up splitting the Parmesan chicken egg rolls. Truthfully, I really just wanted to see what that would entail because it seemed a little disgusting or maybe even some kind of high-food, but to my surprise, it was actually a really crispy skinned pizza roll. I'm pretty sure it had been previously frozen, but in that moment- served with a side of marinara, I didn't really care. It was full of gooey melted mozzarella cheese and almost like a breaded chicken nugget center. Pretty decent as far as bar food goes. They also had crab rangoon to which I thought, "hmm are they doing a little too much?!" I'm sure drunk me would have gotten them years ago so what can ya do. Overall, quite a positive experience. The bartender was really sweet and everything wasn't super expensive. I've been in the neighborhood for such a long time, but I've actually never been here and I'm glad I came on a night that it wasn't chaotic.

The first thing I noticed walking in was the ambiance. Nice decor with a city hotspot feel. We had a teen and tween with us and both found something on the menu. Most of us ordered bowls with sesame sauce which were delicious. We each ordered different meats with our bowls and no complaints. My son had a crispy chicken sandwich which he devoured and my daughter had a quesadilla which they prepared especially for her without any sauce. Everything was tasty. We had a problem with our order when my daughter found a small piece of plastic wrapper in her food. We told our waiter and he immediately informed management. The manager came over and offered a new plate but my daughter was fine having the current plate. So instead, she comped her meal and gave her a choice of dessert with a gigantic milk. Despite the minor glitch, this place deserves 5 stars for the way they handled this issue. We feel they went above and beyond to remedy the situation. If only all restaurant management were like this. If we are ever in Chicago again, we will be back.

No notes. The sandwich had candied bacon on it with this perfect sweet flavor, and it normally comes with honey Dijon--but I don't do Dijon, so I swapped it for this garlic sauce ‍ And when I say that garlic tanginess mixed with the sweet candied bacon... whew. Chef's kiss. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend got the steak wok bowl with corn, broccoli, brown rice, and some other veggies--and I definitely stole a few bites It was SO good. Like... flavorful, fresh, just everything. The whole vibe? Perfect for a lunch date. The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. Travel is hell when you have celiac. I am sensitive to the parts per million level and one bad bite…read moreof food can keep me up all night, or send me to bed or the hotel bathroom for days. I will spare the details. I am not a gluten free trendy who has a pastry for desert; this is an issue that's followed me my whole life. Usually when trveling, I end up eating carrots, rotisserie chicken and coldcuts when my supply of hard boiled eggs runs out. Every now and then I hit the jackpot. I arrived in Chicago on a Thrusday afternoon in September and first thing, set out around the neighborhood to find a restaurant where I might be able to eat. All the usual kinds of places (naerly all of them corporate) were out of the discussion when I spotted Doc Bs at 55 E. Grand Ave. The exterior was low-key but for some reason I was drawn to it. I went in to check the place out. Usually this part of the discussion goes like a legal deposition. "What do you know, and how do you know it?" I asked for a menu; I was handed one and began to read carefully. Among other things, they offered a kind of rice bowl dish, a bit like hot poke (the Wok Out Bowl). It came with a diversity of sauces -- Curry, Sesame Teriyaki , Sweet & Spicy Thai, etc. I said, "Which of these sauces has no gluten?" "All of them," said someone named Cassandra, responding in a confident voice. She was the general manager. "Our company takes food sensitivity very seriously. We also have gluten free deep fryers." I pushed a little harder: Cassanda said she could account for every ingredient in every dish on the menu. Right away I was having a 1 in 1000 expeience. Even in the top tier of places aware of the gluten issue (which is no longer vogue), I am often saved by a server who has a clue what goes into the food. Cross-contamination is an issue; as is ignorance about product. Gluten-safe dining is usually based on a stripped down menu; and some places commit outright fraud by neglecting to mention known issues in the kitchen but still saying GF on the menu. My theory of keeping gluten out of restaurant food is **start with none, and add it only where you need it**, which is nearly in nothing. She said that's exactly what we do. My second theory of gluten free is **parity of experience**. That means that everyone at the table has an equivalent experience. The whole table does not enjoy sumptuous deserts while the GF person gets canned pears. At Doc B's I could eat anything on the menu, including French fries and chips and salsa (small, taken-for-granted pleasures by most diners). My third theory of gluten free dining is **no gluen free upcharge.** It's tacky, and adds insult to injury (especially when a GF bun or bread is subpar, as was NOT the case at Doc B's). Doc B's got 100% on all counts. That and the food was consistently excellent. I ate there seven times over five days trying many things (but having a lot of Wok Out bowls). I sent several people and brought four different friends, one of whom had such such extreme dietary restrictions he could usually order an apple. They accommodated him perfectly, with a positive attitude. And there you have it. This gets the highest possible rating from the Gluten Avenver -- seven stars. -- Eric F Coppolino

Luckily the window high top bar-seats were available. Not great for catching up in conversation over a meal, but it was better than the a fast food place nearby. The food was great! We had the guacamole as an appetizer - if you don't like cilantro - you will want to avoid it. It was an interesting appetizer, as it came with sweet potato chips. Both were good...not sure it pairs well. (I saved the guacamole for my burger) I had the wedge burger, primarily for the egg. It was great! The burger was perfectly cooked as was the sunny side up egg. I ordered it with a side of fries. Perfectly cooked fries. They give huge portions. I was able to share with my friends. I ordered a cranberry and tonic for a beverage. It was great, however, they served it in a "bar" glass, so it was not a lot of liquid. I had to order two. I prefer pint glasses for non-alcohol beverages. Tasted great, just needed more. Prices are reasonable for a city restaurant. Without tip for 4 adults, 4 entrees and 1 appetizer and soda-water beverages. It came to about $130. Parking...If you can walk or take a ride share. It's the city and parking options aren't great.
